The Ivy Cafe Blackheath in Lewisham

Excellent local Ivy Cafe. The service is exceptional amd unique, and the food is wonderful. Interior is great and colorful. Birthday surprise cake is an experience to behold, as its taste is exquisite and its presentation is delightful.Thank you for a great night! It was excellent night and we definitely enjoyed it!

First of all, the staff here are outstanding. We have been made so welcome when visiting this particular, local Ivy of ours. Simply wonderful in all ways.

We are frequent visitors to the Ivy cafe Blackheath however often find the experience inconsistent. The experience on Sunday (breakfast) was particularly poor, incorrect order arrived, when the correct order arrived, some elements of the breakfast was hot others cold. Probably worse than this was the waiter’s approach once I advised the experience was not good. He laughed, and was genuinely unconcerned. It’s a shame, this has finally put me off going back.. I will not be recommending Ivy, the opposite, unfortunately

Very friendly staff ......with a lovely warm ambience. Food portions were generous, especially the dessert.

The name of the restaurant suggests great things, but the reality does not live up to the name. A tempura squid starter, an option available locally, was not a joy. I think my view of tempura batter is very different from this chefs. Lobster linguine, a difficult choice, was my main course. It was bland without much flavour. I appreciate this is difficult because the ingredients need to be perfect and in this case they were at best adequate. All accompanied by the house champagne, which was ok but neither of us yearn for more. The £80 price tag made us glad that is was free on the deal we booked because we would have been so disappointed if we'd pay full price for it. On the whole I would not return because nothing here wowed me.

A very pleasant experience at The Ivy Cafe Blackheath. Apart from the great food, Mickey, the mixologist at the bar was especially very lovely- he was very attentive to what I wanted and was very happy to customise cocktails to suit me. Thank you Mickey, I will be back for more fun cocktails.

We got bought this as a gift for Christmas and we would never come again. Unfortunately there was no service, 20 mins to get a drink and then having to keep walking across the room to get your own bottle to top it up. The food is a 6/10 at best. The burger tasted like we could of been in the Harvester, the Calamari batter was stale. £17 for my starter was very overpriced for what it was. Even after complaining about the lack of service, we still didn’t get any, the host explained everyone was on a break. Disappointing response to say the least.

After all it comes down to the food. The Fish was clearly cooked from frozen, watery and chewy. The sauce on top was so salty, it tasted like the ones from store bought bottles. The sauce on the plate also tasted store bought, the “trufle” Parmesan chips are made with cheap fake trufle oil, it’s just cheap. And it tastes cheap, no surprise. The ambience was loud and the place seems to be chav’s birthday dinner favourite destination. Service was good, staff is polite and very nice. Will definitely not be going back. Prices DO NOT reflect quality. It’s the classic ‘make something look good using low quality ingredients and people won’t notice”.

Celebrated our daughter’s birthday. Had a lovely time and great memories. Delicious food and cocktails. Alpine spritz cocktail is now one of my favourite.

When this restaurant opened we were weekly visitors and loved the food and the staff. Post covid we returned and the atmosphere had totally changed. The staff were totally untrained, tables were crammed into every corner and the atmosphere flat and noisy. Unfortunately, the negatives wiped out any good memories of the food. I so regret the loss of this restaurant.

Nice place to celebrate occasions and the set menu option at a reasonable price worked out well.

We visited during lunch with our newborn, our first real jaunt outside for weeks. The staff were incredibly attentive (without being overbearing). They asked if we wanted to move to a larger table so we could be more comfortable with the pram etc and were generally caring. Food was usual Ivy standards (lovely) We felt very well looked after and would definitely visit again.

Visiting from Scotland and Came here for lunch with my mum for drinks and lunch to celebrate my 30th. Great atmosphere, great food and great service. Can only say great things but what made a difference to us was Feim & Karma! There service Is impeccable and they are an asset to the Ivy. They made the experience so enjoyable from start to finish. Today I had the pleasure of dining at Ivy Blackheath, and I must say, it was an absolute delight from start to finish. Despite booking late, the staff graciously accommodated us and ensured we enjoyed our evening without feeling rushed. Upon entering, we were greeted with a warm ambiance that set the tone for the rest of the evening. Our table, nestled between the window and the bar, provided the perfect vantage point to soak in the inviting atmosphere while enjoying our meal. Speaking of the meal, I cannot rave enough about the exquisite dishes we savored. The shepherd's pie was a true standout, with its hearty yet perfectly seasoned filling and golden-brown crust. Each bite was a comforting delight that left me longing for more. And let's not forget the pièce de résistance - the chocolate bombe. This decadent dessert was a feast for the senses, with its rich chocolate exterior giving way to a luscious, indulgent center. It was the perfect conclusion to an already exceptional meal. Overall, my experience here surpassed all expectations because of the reviews I’ve read before arriving. From the attentive service to the mouthwatering cuisine, every aspect of the evening was impeccable. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone in search of a memorable dining experience.

My husband and I, after much deliberation, decided to go to The Ivy Cafe to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, having eaten here once before and loving it. On arrival we were met with a friendly smile and felt immediately welcome. Our hostess Inma was excellent and, indeed, we cannot fault the service. However, our experience was tainted somewhat by the fact that my "medium" steak arrived well done and had to be sent back. Inma quickly dealt with this faux pas and another was brought. My husband by this time however had finished his meal which meant that we ate out of sync.( I will add here that my husband felt that his steak was a little more cooked than the "medium-well" he had ordered but ate it nonetheless).The food was ok but not as special as we remembered which was a little disappointing.As recompense for the steak scenario, The Ivy Cafe did not charge us for our desserts which is testament to the excellent service they provide. Despite the top class service (Thank you Inma and the gentleman who brought the bill- sorry I did not ask your name) it is unlikely that we will be returning as the food, in our humble opinion, is not worth it. We have given 4 stars instead of 3 to reflect the service given. Had the service been mediocre it would have been a 3 star review.

Visited as a couple for dinner on a mid-week night. It was busy so the restaurant was noisy (which is fine). The food was fine, as usual. The service was sub-standard, however. We were met by an lovely host who showed us to our table and it was downhill from there. The head waiter spent s lot of time with a table of 3 ladies in our area, who he appeared to know personally and spent a good deal of time chatting to while leaving tables waiting to order, have their dishes cleared, or to pay. Similarly, the bar staff were distracted (resulting in dirty glasses piling up on the bar) by two very young and inappropriately dressed ladies sitting at the bar, who really ought to have been turned away while wearing what can only be described as undergarments. The waitress waiting on our table was sullen and didn't engage with us at all. We finished our mains as quickly as possible and bailed. We've been to this Ivy Cafe multiple times but there are plenty of alternatives...

The restaurant is nice. Service was good. Food was OK. Asked for points to be added to my loyalty account and that didn't happen. Send few messages on the app and not received any reply. Very disappointed.

We met some family here for a 30th celebration. So very disappointing, cold food was sent back and waited but by the time I received my new meal the rest of the table had finished. Also, the restaurant was full of nursing mothers & prams. Not what we expected. Lastly, we was shocked that the facilities (WC) was located downstairs so very close to the kitchen! Quite off putting!! All in all, an extremely disappointing experience, will not be returning nor recommending.

We had a beautiful experience at The Ivy Blackheath last night. The staff was extremely helpful and efficient. Food was just as good as in any other Ivy. We ordered the shepherd's pie and the fish and chips. Both of them were nice and tasty. Our server was extremely helpful. Thank you Ivy Blackheath.

Ivy Blackheath is always a good choice to go out. They serve lovely cocktails along with delicious food. Sometimes a bit overcrowded, but that is a good sign of a good restaurant. You don't get this type of service anywhere else in Blackheath. Highly recommended.

My dining experience was truly amazing. From the moment we entered, the welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff made us feel at home. The menu offered a delightful array of dishes, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I can’t wait to return to explore more of their delicious food. Highly recommended!

Visited this morning, first time for me. Very comfortable, liked the decor. We both had eggs benedict with ham and rosti potato pieces and it was excellent, taste, presentation and value, very filling. Also, an unexpected extra, we were given a delicious dessert to mark an anniversary we are celebrating today. Lovely staff, excellent service and we'll be going back to try out lunch and dinner dishes soon. Big thumbs-up from me! Update, we returned yesterday, 3/2/24 and it was even better than last time. Souffle was top notch!

Celebration meal in a fine restaurant.

Not been for a while but 9 of us had dinner there on Sunday night and all thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely atmosphere and good food. We were originally going to have the special menu ( two courses for £19.17) but some of us decided on the regular one . Both menus very good and tasty.

The Ivy Cafe at Blackheath was excellent... The 1917 special event promotion was/is fantastic... The staff were brilliant... service just so brilliant- from 'front of door' , to bar, to table ... It was also my birthday- so it was nice surprise to get a birthday éclair and candle!!!

Can't fault anything really. Even the price was reasonable. Going to book to go back soon.

Been to loads of Ivy restaurants in London and other parts of the UK. Went to Blackheath for breakfast and impressed by choice and quality of the foods

We’ve eaten here twice. The decor is beautiful but the food wasn’t great. The starters were over cooked and dry, the fish and chips was in bite size pieces and greasy, the steak was super thin and we were brought the wrong wine and beer. I asked for sauce for my starter since it was so dry and inedible, they brought me sauce but then charged me £4 for it at the end!!!! Very expensive for mediocre food

We were walking around Blackheath and we decide to eat something nice and we did the right choice because thoroughly enjoyed my experience at your restaurant. The food was delicious, and our server Andrea provided exceptional service, making our evening truly memorable. Thank you for a fantastic dining experience!

We went to The Ivy in Blackheath for a management team lunch. We had a wonderful time, and the staff looked after us exceptionally well. The food offered good value for the price. The experience was flawless.

What a great place! Had a lovely meal yesterday night, service and food was 10/10! From the lovely lady finding us a quick table to the great cocktails, food was exquisite too! This is a mysterious place. Don't quite know what to make of it. It's pretty good, but also has some delusions of grandeur. Service is friendly/hostile/obsequious/dismissive depending on the momentary mood of the server. The reception/cloakroom desk at Blackheath can deal with one couple at a time and that couple then blocks the only doorway. And the receptionist presides rather than receives. Timing is all-important and if it appears you are likely to overstay your welcome you are pretty much chivvied out. Perhaps all of this is by design? If so, maybe redesign? This is not a school dining room. The menu is mercifully short, and what it delivers is better than average. But book a table if you plan to go. Heaven forfend you should darken the doorstep without one.

Very mixed feelings about our experience. When we arrived our table wasn't ready, and we were invited to sit at the bar to wait. My friends ordered 2 Gin and Tonics which came to an eye watering amount (I think it was £28). They told me that when they questioned this they were told their drinks were doubles. When they explained that they hadn't ordered doubles they were told that, at this bar doubles are served as standard To serve a double measure without the customer ordering this / without telling the customer this in advance and checking this is ok, is in my opinion very irresponsible. What if one of them were limiting their alcohol intake for health reasons? What if one of them had been driving, limiting themselves to one unit. We also felt this was a financial con. The food was good, the food service was attentive. The a la carte menu was expensive, the set menu good value. If we hadn't had the poor bar experience I would have given a higher rating.

Food is cooked and presented at a very high standard. It's a very nice experience but you do pay for the privilege. If you like a place where they look after you this up there . All in a pleasant experience.

Excellent breakfast this morning at the Ivy Cafe. Janos is so good at his job! We popped in for a birthday celebration for my husband. We both had the full English which was delicious and the coffee is excellent. Our lovely waiter Janos made our day by bringing over a sweet treat and candle! Lovely touch. Thank you!

Big fan of the Ivy and the Blackheath one is friendly, cosy and really personable - yet keeping a professional manner. Came here on Sunday and it was brilliant. Gave my mum a lovely dessert and candle for her bday too. Really loved it and will be back - thanks to all.

The Ivy , is currently promoting a set 1917 Menu 2 courses Starter and Main Course with the option of a dessert at an extra cost .I visited yesterday to try it out to be told it was not available as they had sold out of all the starters and they couldn't offer any alternative not one alternative could they come up with , nor could they substitute the dessert in place of the starter . So Ivy , we can do without the fanfare promoting something which is not available a pretty poor show in my opinion .

What a beautiful restaurant! And the service and food is fantastic! We were looked after by Karma who is one of the managers and he was so professional and very likeable. The other waiters were also great! When I visit London, I always make a point of visiting this lovely restaurant. Thank you for a wonderful Christmas experience!

I had the most incredible Vegan Keralan sweet potato curry served with jasmine rice. Whilst not cheap, The Ivy's excellent service and food make it an enjoyable treat on special occasions!

I don’t normally complain but I treated my family today for a breakfast at the Ivy Blackheath, staff were professional but when my husbands breakfast arrived both his eggs had a hard yolk, so he complained to the waiter, he said it was no problem...

My daughter, her partner and I had such a lovely meal here. I, as a vegetarian, was especially impressed by being presented with a separate menu, containing many choices! I chose the butternut squash dish-excellent . The linguini and fishcake dishes were also thoroughly enjoyed!...

I had a delightful experience at the restaurant yesterday for lunch as a walk-in. The food was really nice, and the service exceeded my expectations for a small cafe in Blackheath. Highly recommend!!

Location is good, staff were friendly and helpful, food was great, parking can be a bit of a pain.

We live locally and often eat here but I’ve never reviewed the Ivy before. The food is very good and the atmosphere is great. It may not be the West End but it always feels busy and buzzy. It is a perfect place for a proper evening out but during the day you can pop in. Fame (I hope I’ve got the spelling right) is so welcoming and makes you feel like this is your special neighbourhood bistro where you are a valued friend. George was our latest server and was great tonight. It’s the best Blackheath experience.

I attended this restaurant last night, with eight friends. The food and service were excellent. However, I was horrified to learn that, depending on price the price of chosen wine, you are either given beer goblets (lower in price) or wine glasses (higher in price)....

Our friends had the shepard’s pie and it is delicious. My wife had the shrimp curry and it was good. I ordered the steak and it well prepared and tender. The Ivey martini is the perfect accompaniment. Service is professional and friendly.
