The best restaurants in Waveney East of England

We walked through initially as a quick way to get to the other side, as we entered there’s lots of seating and an assortment of street food restaurants and a bar, all reasonably priced. The toilets were all clean, fresh and well stocked.

Initially great communication on booking esp as I wasn’t getting confirmation from family. However, all clarified 3 days before we were due. Really quirky place, didn’t know where to look for bits and pieces but loved it. Although being a nurse, I had to hide by eyes from dust, dirt and hair - thankfully tables were clean and kitchen looked clean as well. It is dog friendly, which is great and I did inform them I have a big dog who will curl up in a corner. Arrived with family, staff were out back in the kitchen. Waited a bit to be seated and was shown to a tiny table for 2, next to fire guard with nowhere for my dog to sit. Asked to go the just vacated corner table. Sally (presume, as knew everyone and was cooking and serving) approached us saying ‘only booked for 2, advised it was always 3 but happened to be a change in menu chose. This chose benefitted them, financially. I didnt bother arguing, but did check my messages and she had confirmed everything. Anyway, drinks served and then noticed a small sign by the cash till saying ‘cash only’. I was not advised this on booking or anywhere on fb page. This meant I had to borrow my sister cash card and drive 10mins to Tesco to get cash. On return, cold latte awaited with my sister placing saucer over the top. Food came out. We had high tea, freshly made, so much and really delicious. We had to remind them about the sandwiches for myself and my sister as they never came out with everything else. They were attentive and friendly once the food came out. I am in 2 minds whether to go back again as the welcoming and cash incident did affect my opinion. I would have to be consider who I took there as know my mum would not like the cleanliness. However, as said food was amazing.

Take away was wrong food was terrible no taste what a waste of money sorry to say this is the second time now never again really need to up your game

Didn't eat so can't rate the food. The location is probably the best you'll find with amazing views. Bar staff friendly. Found the clientele a little only way is Essex but I suppose the sun brings them out. Well worth a visit though.

Had a lovely one night stay at Easter. Able to park securely in hotel carpark. Beautiful room with a sea view. Great room facilities and really appreciated the free gin and great flavour tea selection. We ate at the hotel. Exceptional food and ambience. The staff were amazing and helpful. I definitely have pencilled this in for a return visit.

We went in here just for a sausage roll and coffee each. The young lady making the coffee was very quick and efficient. I didn’t even notice the sausage rolls being put on the tray, they just appeared. The coffee was one of the best we have ever tasted, with real chocolate shavings on the top, rather than the cocoa powder usually used (in other establishments). Tables were cleared efficiently and we were thanked, twice, on our way out. Don’t know what a fuller meal would be like, but would recommend for a quick bite and drink.

This was the first time that I had eaten here but came at the recommendation of the person that I ate with and he had been there 3 times. We both had the Calamari starter and the. Had steaks for the main. Janes service was excellent and her recommendation was amazing. Geoffrey was the chef on the evening and the food was absolutely amazing. Can’t recommend this place enough, the staff members make this business so please make sure they are taken care off.

proud to offer no gluten free options so dont waste their time. Service is like a motorway stop as are the prices. Better options nearby especially by the boating lake

This place is not a patch on what it once was. Nice roof in the new thatch but not enough attention being paid to the food or drink we experienced. Fruit and cheese scones very poor, no marks out of 10. Very dry with virtually no cheese or fruit. Had to leave my cheese scone or else choke. Choice of cakes very poor compared to the range a while back. Lemon meringue pie looks as if it came from a builders merchant. Such a shame yet folks still seem happy to part with good money for below average quality. Coffee luke warm and weak and NO decaf avaliable. Whilst I appreciate exterior renovation is ongoing there is simply no excuse for the litter etc outside as not much effort or care required to clean up at least once a day. On a positive note, staff very efficient and polite.

Amazing service, friendly staff. Served quickly, and the food was great. Crispy and soft chips with a nicely spiced sausage.

The afternoon tea was superb. Lots of filling in the sandwiches and lovely fresh bread. . Sausage rolls were to die for and possibly the best I’ve ever had. Staff were attentive and very friendly. Will definitely return.

Food was horrid. Old oil used to fry chicken balls etc.. nasty after taste, ordered combo and didn’t get any sweet and sour sauce so very dry. Beef curry was like flour paste, tasteless and little meat! Waste of £30. Worst Chinese I’ve had in a long time. Woman was like a female Basil Fawlty, swearing and moaning in a mix of Chinese and English in front of customers because she was trying to do drinks for someone and phone kept ringing, which I found funny at the time, but bad food took the fun out of it ! Just bad experience in every way !

Must admit we really do like it here and attend on a regular basis. It's not in the most scenic location but great if you wish to have a coffee and snacks after a shopping session etc.
