Royal China in Waveney

Absolute shambles, owner was attentive while there, while owner was out of sight 5 staff around the bar discussing poor working conditions including pay and food allowance, all stating they’re looking for other jobs, one staff member had a parent or partner arrive complaining she had spent his money in an aggressive tone listing his bank statement, no thought given to the paying diners hoping for a relaxing dinner. To say I left traumatised was an understatement, it felt like I was in a scene from Shameless. Absolutely horrific. Date Friday 7th March.

I have only had takeaway however it is by far the best Chinese takeaway I’ve had. 1 hour wait for delivery but worth it

Food was absolutely amazing. Best Chinese around. Staff were all welcoming and friendly. Totally child friendly. Definitely be coming back. Thank you for making us all feel welcome

Cold restaurant, heating came on at 7pm on a cold windy night. Our food went cold quick and finished up bringing half of it home. They were busy on takeaways and the front door was constantly opening and shutting by the delivery drivers. Won't be going again until the weather is warmer

Regularly order food from here but tonight my food arrived cold. After explaining this to the owner she said she would resend the order but instead only resent chips. After ringing up again and complaining and at this point being 2 hours from originally placing my order the owner had a stinking attitude and instead tried to make out that it was somehow my fault that I hadn’t explained properly that my food was cold. Refused to give me a refund even after returning the food back in the bag and again had a terrible attitude. If she thinks this is an acceptable way to speak to customers then she needs to be working in the kitchen and not customer facing. Will not be ordering from here again

Lovely tasting food as always (once re-heated) but customer service very very disappointing. The food was over half an hour late arriving, and cold, and there was no sense of an apology when I rang to ask where it was.

Visited on a midday week evening and was greeted by the lovely owners. It was quiet with only a few walk-ins and phone orders the premises remained fairly sparse. Our drinks and food orders were taken quite swiftly and were also served just as fast. This is where our experience changed, the food was hot, and had clearly all been fried even if they should not have been. All of the food was greasy and lacked flavour. Due to it being late evening and the fact we had been travelling for so long we ate the food. Later on we both felt unwell and it wasn't untill the morning when we began to feel slightly better. If you don't mind bland, reasonably priced and greasy food then go to the Royal China.

Great value and tastes amazing, all tasted fresh and the owners were very friendly, definitely would go again and worth going to even if your a few miles out like I am, better than most restaurants because it tastes so fresh and really filling, better than most takeaways for the same reason.

Really nice Chinese with friendly and attentive staff. The food was great quality, tasty and large portions, not the usual monosodium glutamate enhanced ones. Loads of locals frequenting which says loads.

Last minute meal out food was amazing that's as far as it goes. Stood near door young girl pottering about had to be told to seat us. Young girl had her coat on though put our time here. She brought our food out one plate at a time. Yes still had her coat on. She put our ribs on table literally on the table she put then on the table that hard they almost come off the plate. An hour and a half after we arrived She still has her coat on. Management please sort your staff as customer service is awful !!!

My partner and I decided to have dinner here a couple of nights back and felt the need to leave a review because of how lovely it was. Lately, we have been through a really tough time in our personal lives and so we took a break to the seaside in the need of a pick me up. We have been coming up to Oulton Broad for several years and got takeaways from this restaurant but never dined in. We decided to eat in on this occasion and I couldn’t be more pleased that we did. It was such a calm and pleasurable experience. We were seated and our orders were taken by a very pleasant and bubbly lady working front of house (didn’t catch her name). There was also another lovely lady working who brought us some of our food. The food was brought out to us quickly and it was all perfect! I even mentioned to the lady that I haven’t been fond of Chinese cuisine for a long time (much more the boyfriend’s preference) but had been swayed by this experience. Experiences such as this can either make or break your time away but this very much made it. Thank you Royal China, we will 10000% return next time!

Worst takeaway food ever , portions were small forgot the prawn crackers which they said they would drop off ASAP after an hour and 20 minutes rang back and asked for a refund (which was supposed to be within the hour) guess what I’m still waiting on this avoid at all cost complete joke!!

Worst customer service ever! Spent nearly £100 and didn’t receive all our chips. Told by the girl was her mistake was her 1st night and she had made a mistake and should have read the order back, which I completely understand we’re all human, However when we asked to come and collect them they expected us to pay even though we thought we already had and the £100 sat here is going. The call ended with the manager shouting at us! This is the worst customer service ever! Do not ever use!!!!

Good quality food,freindly staff,fast service

Had a good meal here. Service good too. But beware as although showing a Visa sign in the window they refused to take a card and asked us to go to the cash machine over the road. Spoilt a good evening!

We visited Oulton Broad yesturday and ordered a takeaway to our boat moored at the Wherry Hotel. Food arrived quickly, freshly cooked and each meal packed full of flavour. It's not often you visit a Chinese restaurant /takeaway and every meal come perfect and tasty, but it was. They are definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Thanks for a great meal!

Lovely friendly welcome. Service was pretty quick and the food was delicious. The atmosphere here is very nice and friendly. Shame I don't live here (visiting for a few days) as this would definitely be my 'go to' Chinese restaurant. Thoroughly recommended. 👍

We had a very nice dinner. Kids can be a bit fussy but the staff went out of there way to make something my boy would eat. My dish was delicious.

Had many takeaways from here and all delicious. First time eating in today and all the staff were lovely! Food just as yummy! It was my grandads 96th birthday and they even surprised us with a dessert. Brilliant, just Brilliant! Highly recommend! Thank you for a lovely meal!

Friendly and helpful staff food wasn't bad however the restaurant was very dated and dirty.

So bad, terrible, went to get a thai red curry with my wife, so bad left half way through it. Absolutely never will I return, I don't eat Chinese, but got told they do Thai food too, I can't comment on the Chinese food as I didn't have any. So hopefully other people's recommendations on that would be a better source of information.

First time visit, lovely meal, lovely staff. Pity they never listened to my comment how cold it was in there. Couldn't stay for longer spoilt the evening

Just had there hot and sour soup. Apart from taking a long while to give it to me . It was lovely. Will be booking a table there soon . They were still nice to me even though I was a miserable old sod.

We had an absolutely lovely meal here for our wedding anniversary. The service was excellent & the food was amazing, its the best Chinese we've had in a long time! Next time we come up to see family we will definitely go again.

Great local Chinese restaurant. Prawn crackers are served first while you wait for your drinks. food was amazing, some of the best duck i have ever had! everyone enjoyed the meal and the chicken balls where so good. Almost ordered some to go XD We where the only group eating in the restaurant at the time so the female owner spent some time talking to us making sure everything was okay and we had everything. Also made a fuss out of my 2 year old who really liked her by the end of the meal. Just super friendly and had so much time for us. will defiantly come back.

Booked a table for 1st time here. On arrival was a bit concerned as so busy and lots of takeaway orders coming in. Nothing to worry about. Service was quick and the food simply delicious. Great place if you want quality food.

Very average Chinese,a bit on the expensive side if anything . take away people collecting right near the the table that your trying to dine at. some of the staff serving meals in outdoor type clothing (jeans & t shirts).sorry but not my cup of tea(china tea )of course.

Food was average,,, we had squid which I would not recommend anyone ordering it was like rubber really over cooked. I would not go back

We have ordered takeaways from them twice now. Both times they have delivered super fast and the food has actually been hot on arrival! The food has been delicious on both occasions and we are very happy to recommend and continue to use them when we crave Chinese food.

The food was delicious, we had a lovely family meal here. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The decor is very warm, cozy and relaxing, (lovely and clean too) The staff are great with families too, good with my two children. Was a really nice treat. Real Chinese Cousine and personal staff. Been there twice, both time very satisfiedwith their food. Perfect location, from Wherry hotel 5.min.walk. Service very kind and fast. Price for this little town, I think is very ok.

Lovely venue with brilliant service from the staff. Without a doubt the best Chinese food I've had in Lowestoft, and it's refreshing to see life brought back to the red herring building in such a well done way
