First time trying cake from here which we took away for an afternoon treat We all choose the carrot cake and what a mistake that was. I’ve never had carrot cake i couldn’t even finish. Firstly didn’t taste like any carrot cake I’ve ever had it was a funny texture and just not very pleasant Will not go back

This is a small, family owned cafe is a small but thriving Suffolk market town. The food be it sweet or savoury, and their bread is all made either on the premises or locally and frankly are exceptional value for money. Do try their big meaty sausage rolls if you want filling up, but try and get one (or two) while they are still oven warm! The coffee's are surprisingly inexpensive especially when compared to many other similar coffee shops and certainly when compared to the big chain coffee shops. As a regular visitor to Ma Belle, the staff (all of them) are always a joy and will accommodate even the most obscure requests if at all possible. Overall, this is one of the gems that make Bungay such a delight to visit. Highly recommended! (Oh, and no, I'm in no way connected. Just a very satisfied customer!)

We were camping locally and came for breakfast, we shared a delicious blueberry croissant and cheese scone, so moist and flavoursome. We sat outside in the sunshine and they were very welcoming to our dog even giving him a treat. Before leaving I bought a white sourdough loaf, another cheese scone, a veggie sausage roll and a chocolate orange brownie. The veggie sausage roll was heavenly, no idea what was in it, guessing feta and spinach, really flavoursome and moist. The chocolate orange brownie was also delicious, so glad we saved it to enjoy on the way home, just sad we don’t live closer to this wonderful little bakery.

Called in and picked up a lunchtime take-away to eat in the sun at The Dinky Garden. We had a Brie, ham and onion marmalade toastie and a tuna & mayonnaise toastie. Both were excellent washed down with a tea and a hot chocolate. The icing on the cake literally was a slice of Bakewell tart. If you want food in a hurry because of a short lunch break would recommend phoning ahead but if you’re on holiday like us it’s worth the wait.

Been here a number of times while on holiday including times when it was extremely busy and both food & service had been good, Unfortunately today's visit was not. It was a cold day so we ordered sausage rolls sat down and in fairness our food and drinks were brought very promptly. We quickly realised the sausage rolls were cold (we weren't told this when we ordered) and only given a knife and napkin to eat them with. We asked our server if we could have them heated and were very clearly told no we don't have a microwave. The server promptly disappeared before we had a chance to ask for forks. There was no cutlery visible for us to help ourselves. As we had been shopping we really didn't fancy eating with our fingers .After a trip to the wash room and clean hands but still no servers around we gave in and started eating as we were both hungry. Two other customers came in and a different server appeared. As it is a tiny space it was impossible not to hear what was being ordered, scones to which the server asked would you like them heated and she promptly put them into the aga oven beside us to warm. I have to be fair to this 2nd server when I told her we had been told our sausage rolls could not be heated as there was no microwave she did offer to heat our then more than half eaten sausage rolls for us but by this stage it was really a little too late although we were brought our requested forks. Very disappointing visit.

You need to be prepared to get close to fellow diners, and the loo is equally intimate in the corner of the main seating area upstairs. But it's a lovely place, the food is exceptional quality and the atmostphere is welcoming.

There seemed a shortage of decent eating places in Bungay, but we stumbled across the Ma Belle just before lunch. The staff were pleasant and cheerful and made us feel welcome. The Panini's were tasty and the coffee delicious. Our Beagle dog also enjoyed all the fuss that was made of her whilst we had lunch. Recommended.

I hadn't been in this cafe before, it looks quite small from the outside, so usually go to one with more seats! Anyway I was surprised to find a lovely big service area selling all types of cakes and bakes, I chose a delicious carrot cake and pot of tea for one. The staff were very kind and chatty and told me about more seating upstairs which I used, and had a lovely view of the Buttercross . The tea was so good I had 3 big cups out of one pot, and the cake was a good size too. Very pleasant place so I will definitely be coming back soon with my friends!

Charming cafe that really makes the best of it's tiny footprint. Lovely welcoming people with huge cheese scones to die for. However the real stars are the coffee and those amazing sausage rolls.

Cosy and welcoming cafe in the centre of Bungay. We arrived just as they were closing but they offered us tea to take away, had a brownie too which was excellent. Visited again a couple of days later, very pleasant service and good decaff coffee which can be hard to find. Will definitely be back if we're in the area again.

Small-town charm, right under the Buttercross. Great coffee, French-style baguettes and kerb-side seating made for a very continental feel. Service good, and about the right price.

Called in early for a coffee while waiting for a bus to Southwold. Pleasantly surprised at such a lovely welcome and excellent coffee and croissant. Sat upstairs and watched the world go by. Great fun. Recently opened, they should be very successful and some of the other tea shops in Bungay, will have to pull their socks up. Will be back soon. Excellent.

Lovely little coffee shop, excellent coffee and pastries with small selection of savouries. Yes its small (but beautifully proportioned) if it was any larger if wouldn't have the same atmosphere, staff very nice and friendly, very clear and ideal place to meet for coffee. Would highly recommend - watch out other teas shops in the area, this one is difficult to beat.

Went here for a decent loaf of real bread as opposed to supermarket fake stuff, was expecting to pay a higher price of course but just over £4 for a loaf of bread? Really? In Bungay? I do not even pay that price in a very nice bakery in Southwold. Left with just a scone, just too expensive.

We visited for coffee and cake, both delicious, They also do homemade soup which we must try very soon! Nice selection of cakes and coffee in very nice surroundings. The small shop has been excellently renovated to show exposed brickwork etc. There aren't enough tables though, it was very busy when we visited. It's a very small shop and there are only two tables downstairs as that's where the bread retail counter is. Upstairs is lovely but with only three tables when we visited. There is a large sofa in there which looks nice but isn't practical as has no table to put your coffee on, and no room to put a table anyway. We felt that if the sofa wasn't there, it would make room for more tables. While we were up there several people came up the stairs and looked to see if there was space to sit and had to go down as it was full. It's such a lovely place, lots of atmosphere, nice food and staff, just needs more tables

I was really shocked by the rudeness of the person who served me today. I needed an itemised receipt because I can claim back through the company I work for.Unfortunately an itemised receipt is not available so I asked the lady to write the 2 milkshakes and 2 cakes and the price on the back of the receipt. She snatched the card receipt out of my hand, clearly annoyed at my request and scribbled my order on the back with no price details.
