After trying different takeaways in Bury st Edmunds, I have to say this is by far the best. Always consistent, The lady owner is very friendly and the food is fresh. However we have decided not to return due to the attitude of the Male owner. What a extremely miserable man, How he expects people to be loyal to his business with his attitude towards his customers is beyond me. Just cannot bring myself to give him anymore of my money

The hotel and the grounds are lovely. The restaurant however is abysmal. we ordered two scones and a cheese and pickle sandwich. This took over 35 minutes and when the sandwich arrived it looked like it had been made by monkeys. Imagine 99% pickle oozing out the side of two slices of thin cheap bread. Couldn't see any cheese whatsoever. I honestly don't think this was prepared by a chef. The staff were clearly flustered, we could hear other tables complaining and I suspect someone just cobbled it together. Embarrassing.

The usual "spoons" standard Food and drinks were all good value Service was great the bar are serving staff were happy to help Sadly there was some form of issue that there was an excessive amount of little black fly's. We relocated to another part of the bar, the following evening the fly infested area was closed off.

A day out in the area and thought we'd have lunch in a nice rural setting. Welcome very friendly, order quickly taken, and food quick to arrive. All very impressive. Best pub lunch in the year we have been back in England. A great experience, thank you all.

A great traditional pub near Newmarket. Real ales and fantastic pub snacks. Watch out for their offers Monday and Tuesday Pizza and a pint for wine for 10 pounds and the pizzas are absolutey delicious! We need to support our local pubs and tradition.
