The Kings Arms in St Edmundsbury

Visited Wednesday - MARKET DAY! - and was told they had NO ales available. Ridiculous and pathetic. What is the manager doing?

Awesome beer selection!!! I have frequently drank here since new management take over. I must say the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always with a smile! Plenty of choice for lager and ale, if you ask nicely they'll even let you try before you buy. Food is what you would expect from a modern pub, definitely worth a visit for a pint and a friendly face.

I can't recommend any of the food as I usually go pre drinking here, and haven't tried it , but the service is always friendly and quick. Even on nights such as New Year's and clubbing nights ! A great place to catch up with friends, and there's alot of space for everyone, especially outside if you're with a big group !!

Looking at the reviews I think there are new staff as they were all really helpful and friendly. We went in lunch time New years eve, recieved a nice welcome as did our dog, the place was clean and nicely decorated and had a nice atmosphere. There is a huge range of beers and a nice food menu, the food took a bit longer than we would usually expect to arrive but it was clearly fresh and really tasty.

It seems older negative reviews relate to previous ownership. Service was good and food hot and tasty. Much nicer atmosphere than the chaos around The Arc.

Dropped in for lunch today instead to try somewhere different to usual. Service was excellent, food was hot fresh and delicious and very well priced for what was received. We will definitely return and recommending to family and friends

The staff were so into themselves and dam right rude !! Hence we did not stay for food ! There was no other customers and no atmosphere...... Apart from the static the barman was giving off !!! As a publicans daughter I was dissatisfied disappointed and shocked at the lack of hospitality!!! Don't do it people go to edmundos there dog friendly and the sweetest staff, the foods rocking too !!!

This is what I would call a PROPER pub but with the ambience of a pub punching above its weight. The bar staff were lovely the clientele very friendly. A lovely place for a beer.

We came to bury on the train (bus replacement) and once we arrived we checked google for reviews and this place had stinking reviews. We avoided for the day until walking past and thought why not let’s go in (as the England game was on) and it was nothing but pleasant. Good beer, nice food (cheesy chips) the staff were friendly and the other customers were also very friendly. We were put off by the previous reviews but I would ignore them and go off this one as we had a nice time!!

Visited since the reopening, had some he/she/they person explain they won’t be showing football as it “attracts the wrong crowd” very disappointing that people still have this attitude in 2023.

Now under the same ownership as the Masons Arms, different menu though, we had a pizza which was very good. Had a good pint of Oakham Citra too, will definitely be going back.

This was quite possibly the worst experience we’ve had in a pub, the lady at the bar ( the one from Yorkshire ) was so rude, bullying one of our group members, and we’re not being sensitive it was disgustingly rude. Rolling her eyes when our card wasn’t contactless etc, i can’t begin to explain how unwelcoming this member of staff was, without a doubt shouldn’t be in the hospitality industry. This was around 5 on the 18/06, I wouldn’t want to get anyone else in trouble as this was solely due to one member of staff. Could be a really lovely pub if you had the right staff. We wouldn’t normally complain but this did ruin our Father’s Day.

Grim. Walked into this place to be greeted by the nasty land lady.. she had the mannerisms of a dog poo bin and the professionalism of a boarder terrier. She shamed me because I wasn’t from Suffolk, nearly threw fists because I stuttered when ordering a pint and looked at me like I was s*** on her shoe. And not to mention that fact I’ve booked a tetanus vaccine after ‘washing’ my hands in what might be the dirtiest sink in Suffolk. If you ever feel like popping in to this pub for a drink, save yourself the horrible infection and go buy some special brew from an off licence. 1/10 wouldn’t even take my pet skunk here.

It's...a pub... With beer ... Really dirty. Properly filthy outside. Only Greene king IPA was available for 'ale' but did have plenty of lagers.

Been here before months ago when in the town visiting Family,popped in again on a Friday night recently whilst in Bury with my Wife just for a few drinks,pub was pretty quiet but had no issues at all,staff we encountered where friendly,beer was fine,think we where the last people to leave at last orders,we would go back again.

Served by the older blonde lady. Asked for a smirnoff and told to 'just ask for vodka so I know what you're on about'. Stingy on ice and no fresh fruit to garnish drinks. The young staff were amazing but the older woman just took any shine away from them.

Popped in for a few beers and football after dinner. Cosy well decorated pub. The evening I went in was quiet, bit didn't have to wait to be served. Myself and my friends sampled several of the beers, all very well kept and reasonably priced. Outside smoking area is good. Covered, heated and includes a TV so we could still watch the game

This pub is horrendous, and i’m not being a karen. The owner is extremely rude and aggressive for no reason, left me and my friends feeling all very uncomfortable, kicked me out for not buying an alcoholic drink even though i was driving? Will never go back again. I was very polite to her and she was just angry for no reason, they need to get rid of her fr. do not go here if you don’t want your night to be ruined!

An absolutely amazing pub. Really good home cooked food and in my opinion you will not find a better friendlier pub within Bury st Edmund's. The landlady Carol is an absolute gem. I would rate this pub 100/10 definitely the place to go if you ever stay here. Words cannot describe enough how great this place is.

Disgustingly rude and incompetent staff - Etiquette works both ways.

We came in for food and was not disappointed. Chicken goujons, freshly made , were absolutely delicious. My daughter in law had sausage and mash and she loved that. My son had rack of ribs. His only complaint was there wasn’t enough they were so good. Chips were lovely and crunchy and everything was piping hot. Faultless. It’s our second visit to the area ( son has moved here) and this is the cleanest place we have visited. Everywhere else we visited I would say to my husband “ Does anyone know how to clean around here?” Well the lady who has this establishment does!! We will definitely be back on our next visit . You won’t be disappointed I can guarantee it!

Appallingly rude bar lady. I went to the toilet upon arrival before ordering a drink. When I got out of the toilets, she told me to ‘get out right now! You can’t come to use the loo and not order anything’ I then tried to explain but she wasn’t having any of it, seemed very angry. Judging by other reviews, this silly cow needs some serious training! Will definitely not be going back. Real shame as looked quite a nice place but was the worst experience I have had in a long time!

After buying several drinks I was denied a tap water and was rudely offered by the woman behind the bar bottled water instead. This is illegal!

Went in there for the first time as we saw the outside area looked quite nice, went in and ordered some shots (I did not as I was driving) and 15 minutes after having them, we were shouted at and were treated disgustingly by whoever that old woman was, probably the manager. we were told if we weren’t buying more drinks we had to leave which we had every intention in doing but decided not to because of how we were treated, apparently having a chat with friends and having a drink isn’t allowed in this place. 100% will never be going again and I recommend nobody else does either.

disgusting management/landlady. went in there as the usual place we go to was full and thought we’d give it a try, sat in the garden, ordered £10 worth of shots within the first 5 minutes of being there then sat and talked for 15 minutes was about to buy another round when the lady comes out and starts shouting at us saying that she’s running a business and that we need to order more drinks or leave. we all sat in shock got up to leave as we didn’t want to be treated that way after not doing anything wrong and as we left we got hassled being told to apologise to her when quite frankly we didn’t see anything to apologise for and then as we walked out in a calm manner we were shouted at again being told to never return. shame that what was meant to be a chill Friday night in a new pub turned into that. you’d get better treatment in prison.

Sour beer with bits floating within in! The service was blunt and rude, with no impression they cared in the slightest. The pub was dead and I’m not surprised. A Greene King pub, so naturally high prices for a mediocre offering or in this case an absolute disaster of a place. Got the impression if a complaint was made, they simply wouldn’t care.

Decent pint and my wife loved her gin saying that it was expertly mixed. Friendly barman as were the locals. Unfortunately we will probably never pass through the area again so won't be paying another visit

It could be worse you could be in Karooze. Bury has better drinking options.

Found this little gem last night. Really lovely place, excellent outside seating area and great atmosphere - seems to cater for all ages and types, especially on a Saturday night. Stewart the landlord is really funny and friendly, even offered some younger folk an outlet to charge their phone. Decent sized outdoor seating area WITH heaters (very important this time of year!) And good selection of beers and ciders on tap. Would definitely recommend

I had a lovely time in the king's, was met at the door by Stuart shown decent common courtesy, unfortunately I didn't realise whilst being there I was in early stages of having a second stroke I think he thought I'd had a bit too much to drink but wasn't til I got home I realised what was happening so my deepest apologies to the staff .thank you you for your wonderful service.

Kings Arms is a pub in Bury Saint Edmund. It is spacious with the possibility to choose whether to sit on chairs or sofas. Here you can drink a lot of beers and local English food, while watching premier League football matches. The staff is available and gentle.

Popped in to watch the Celtic v Lazio Europa league game. Staff happy to split the tv's and show the game along with the arsenal game. Great pint of Guinness and friendly staff.
