Costa in St Edmundsbury

Costa with a smile 😃 I am more drawn to coming back to this Costa then other situated in the area, here you always get a smile, conversation and exquisite coffee where as others lack that personal touch Jodie and Beckie compliment each others customer service really well and will make sure you start your day the correct way!!

Today was the final straw for me. Quite a few times now since there seems to have been a complete new staff change, I have witnessed the manager be quite rude to customers, my partner and myself included. I handle myself quite well in these situations I like to think but today just pushed me too far. Leading to this review. Serious attitude adjustment is very much needed! Acting like the customer is an inconvenience. Also the opening/closing times of this place are an absolute joke! Must be losing so much business. Today it closed at 2 o’clock! I could not believe it. With that on top of the poor customer service. Something needs to be looked into.

I often pop to Costa coffee in Tescos after I have done a shop and whilst I am waiting for my car to be cleaned. I bring my lap top and always get onto some work which is great with the wifi. I cleared one of the tables as was covered in left over coffee cups etc and then opened the lap top and noticed that the queue was long; so tapped away for a while - totally immersed in work. A lady did pop by and said that could I move on because I hadn't brought a drink; I explained about the queue etc and then said that I would get a take out cup. I do respect that she came to ask me to move on and that other people would be wanting my seat - I always buy a drink from there - just this time I got immersed in work. Like I said - I did get a take out tea and of course will go again for the convenience; however perhaps they might need to get a couple more members of staff - to help clear the tables for one and always streamline to coffee making queues....understandably these are staffing / overheads / costs etc...Thanks you as always Costa coffee bury st Edmunds and respect to your staff....

Helpful and approachable team. BUT the hours at this branch change more often "than a pretty girl changes her dress" to use the old saw. 🙄

Always come here as it’s convenient when you’re shopping with a baby, the last time I came in there were scarcely any suitable seating to feed a baby. The lady serving me said if I was breastfeeding she’d have opened the additional section for me (but as feeding from a bottle we weren't allowed to be comfy I guess). Luckily a table became free with a comfier chair to feed a baby so no harm done. Came in today and three female staff were pushed to limits with stock issues, staffing issues etc and I really felt for them as they were doing their best with no available manager. Costa really needs to evaluate their protocols as it’s really not fair on staff morale dealing with customers who aren’t understanding that this is out of their control.

Absolutely disgusting!! Sat down between 11am - half 11am on Monday 29th May 2023 at this place. Got baby bottle out and baby milk ( as it was feeding time). One of the Costa coffee worker said: this is for paying customers. Have to buy something to sit here. I said: really when our baby needs feeding. Costa said: can't sit here it's for paying customers. There's a baby changing room. I said: you kidding me Sat in baby changing room to feed our baby and it tell you something.....it absolutely stunk in there. The Costa Coffee cafe is most likely more hygienic to feed a baby rather than being in a dirty stinky baby changing room. Absolutely fuming about this.

I have come here quite often recently and my drinks and service were always good until the last few times. The last 2 times I purchased drinks they were so bad I had to throw them away. The first was a white chocolate mocha which I usually love, but this one clearly had too much syrup in it and tasted like petrol. The other was a simple iced soya latte, but I wasn't aware they had changed their supplier of soya milk....the new one they use is disgusting. Also, the staff have stopped being friendly, are slow and grumpy. I'm a barista myself.

Horrible management! Rachel the store manager was very rude to us. Myself and my partner come in here most days to do our work and buy a couple of coffees. Spending roughly £15-£20 each time. Unfortunately on this occasion the manager was very unprofessional and rude towards us as I need to have some of my own food from home due to my conditions. She was not very understanding of this and very rude towards me. The other two members of staff were very helpful but Rachel was not. It’s sad that this has happened, I needed to have something sugar which I always carry on me just incase I have a bad turn. Not impressed.

how difficult is it to make tea,awful tasteless effort.....

We were staying nearby and called in here for a late breakfast and coffee before leaving the area. My husband had a sausage bap and I had a toastie, both of which were very nice. The coffee was good and the two members of staff were both friendly and helpful despite being very short staffed.

Lovely drinks and food and friendly staff. 3 stars? Purely because of the new short hours. Advertised as open till 6 but only open hours of 8 till 4. Went to go there for a nice drink and maybe a snack only to find the barriers up and staff were clearing up. 😕 Change the advertised hours. Really disappointed.

Not enough tables. Don't know why they have taken away some of the tables. You are now fighting for a seat when you have food.

Not good, overpriced and a little shabby

Came in here after work one evening and was served by a lovely girl called Symi. She made me a delicious coffee just how I like it with plenty of vanilla syrup There was no queue when I came and the coffee didn’t take to long to make. She even let me taste it before I walked away to ensure it was sweet enough for me, which it was.

Popped in here today to grab a small takeaway hot chocolate after shopping around 4pm. Calm atmosphere, quite busy but lots of cosy seating. Staff extremely polite and friendly with smiles on their faces. No queuing and quick service. The gentleman asked if I wanted to use my points. The barrister (lady making the drinks) asked me if I wanted chocolate dusting and wishes me a good day. We will be visiting Excellent, thank you.

best customer service I've seen. polite, knowledgeable staff who remember your last visit and are more than happy to engage in conversation. willing to go the extra mile and suggest things you might enjoy but haven't tried . good range of snacks and light bites including gluten free.

As always a busy Costa cafe, and standard of food and coffee the usual Costa good quality - at a cost. ! For such a large busy place "Disgusted " only one !!!! not pleasant !!!!! wet !!! communal toilet , and the disabled one out of use !!!! How Does this adhere to health standards !

We are very regular customers of Costa Coffee, in Stowmarket, Ipswich and have always been very happy with the service and drinks/food and atmosphere. So we were really surprised and disappointed at our visit to Costa Coffee in the Tesco Superstore in Bury St Edmund today. The Hot chocolate was lukewarm warm, the staff were unfriendly when we said our chocolate was only warm and not hot as advertised, also they need to remember that the customer is King! If you didn't get any customers, they wouldn't get any wages. We are so happy that our regular Costa Coffee at Stowmarket are the opposite of the one we visited today. They never get things wrong, it's an excellent service with a smile, similar to the ones in Ipswich. Needless to say this mail will be going to your head office. Only downside is the early closing times.

This is one of the best Costas for service. We visit about every couple of weeks en route and frequently visit other Costas. The service here is always good. The staff are excellent and I would pick out Simmy and Dave Fox who always remember us and what we have “tea cake just warm, earl grey in a glass “ etc and their manner is first class. The manager has a good manner and clearly sets the tone. Well done

Always pop in when visiting Bury, and every time it's the same. Friendly, helpful and just a nice place to be. Lovely coffee, and friendly staff. Better than the town.

Stopped for a coffee break on a very hot day , not the ideal place as very busy as usual! Drinks and food up to the usual standard of Costa restaurants Not the most relaxing of places to stop .

La Costa outlet en el Bury street café Edmunds Tesco es un lugar conveniente para tomar un descanso de las compras semanales. Aunque no son grandes, todavía ofrece una sentarse y algo caliente antes de volver a los pasillos. Tuve un chai, que estaba bien preparada, y el servicio era rápido. El comedor estaba limpio, y el presentado bien volvíamos. El ambiente es, como uno podría esperar de una cafetería, supermercado, pero, en general, bueno para lo que es.

A tired looking place, but more than compensated for by excellent and genuinely friendly staff.
