Byron in St Edmundsbury

Was looking forward to trying the bryon burgers even though they where very pricey. No faults on there delivery driver as he arrived on time. The burgers were not up to expectations they where very bland and overcooked. Very disappointed and will not be ordering from there again. Only good thing going was the milkshakes.

Visited today for the first time - brilliant - will return soon - they certainly know how to cook burgers

This is perfect for a burger, and they have the best chips! I actually used to go here for the chips and milkshakes (they do a good vegan salted caremel one). It's famous for its burgers but the chips and drinks are also good. Really friendly staff. 100% recommend

Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. They don't care whatsoever if you have a "rare" severe allergy, as that allergy doesn't appear in the main 14 , glasses covered in dirt , literally dirt , and the services was just awful. If their glasses are covered in dirt , I'm dreadful to think about cooking conditions. Really hope that some hygiene inspection goes there unannounced . Wish I could give minus stars

Overpriced for what it is. Onion rings were dripping in cooking oil. Beef pattie had very little flavour. Very disappointing.

I had a good lunch. I didn’t like the fact they automatically added a tip to the price of my meal without asking!! That’s not a good thing!!! Makes me not want to comeback!!!!!

First time at Byrons today , we were not that impressed ! Chicken burgers were okay but very small and French fries were far too salty. (Have noticed online fries are free in January but we had to pay for ours). Glad we didn't pay anymore for the meal.

Burger heaven with every juicy bite yummy, the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Trust me I know a good burger when I taste one.

Service was quick, everyone was helpful and polite. I had the chicken wings and it was delicious. My boyfriend had the cheeseburger and he throughly enjoyed it. Found it value for the price

Went here the other night with the lads for our Crimbo meet-up. We were served by a lovely lady who was obviously into the Christmas spirit. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and helped the “Byron Virgins” in the group. The food was good, not the best I’ve had at Byron but there were no complaints. Me and Millsy got a cheeky pud which was also fine. However one young man was pretty rude to me which I didn’t appreciate. When he brought my burger over he said “One classic burger” to which I replied “I ordered a cheeseburger”. He then said “Looks like it’s got cheese in it, don’t it?”. Like, I’m sorry I don’t know the Byron Burger menu inside out to know that a cheeseburger is just a classic burger with cheese in it. There was no need to give me that sass, plus he made me look stupid in front of the boys. Anyway overall the whole experience was fine, although it is a bit pricey.

Service was quick effective nice polite It was a cold evening when I went so a little empty was was great I would say the only disappointment about the whole thing is that putting tips straight on to your bill with you having a choice what I find uncomfortable as you then have to ask to take it off , tip should be a choice Saying this I was happy to tip that day

Absolutely shocking, we were seated right near the door, we asked if we could sit away from the door as we have a 10month old baby in a high chair and she would be sitting with her back facing the door. We could not have moved the hair chair any where else as it would have made it difficult with the waiter and waitress and other people to get out of their table but we were told that the other table was reserved. However later a family came in and asked for a table and they were seated there, so not sure about the possible reservation. We had to wait a fair amount of time for our meals especially the 3 children’s meals and when it did arrive the chips were cold. My biggest complaint is that my chicken burger was NOT cooked properly. This was rectified relatively quickly and this was deducted from the bill. I just want to say this was our first experience of dinning in Byron and unfortunately we will not be back any time soon.

The food tasted ok, nothing great but also nothing bad, very mediocre. The staff were friendly but not engaging at all. Very expensive for what you get.

This place simply sucks! Our food served was inedible, burnt chips, chicken burger was reheated, bun was old like it had sat out for hours. Terrible experience and waitress simply did not care. I did get refunded, but manager really did not seem to care or ask for details so she could make it better. We were so disappointed….food sucked, facility was filthy, staff (cooks, wait staff etc.) were loud, unkempt and clueless.

First try here, lovely food & great service. Had the Xmas burger meal. Wow! Would use again. Thank you ❤️

Unfortunately had this rather burnt and sorry offering from Byron Burgers Bury st Edmunds This was cold also along with the chips, I ordered pink and juicy Must of had Stevie Wonder doing the cooking In all seriousness given what the items cost and would have expected so much better ..

Disappointing, unseasoned burger and fries from an overpriced menu.

Waitstaff was friendly, the food left much to be desired. £43 for a C-Rex, B-Rex, two sodas, some fries and “sweet gochujang” sauce which was Mae Ploy’s sweet chili sauce (Amazon it, you can buy a years worth for a meal here) that just so happens to have some chili flakes in it. Beef Burger was dry and the chicken was like biting into the Sahara, where the only moisture came from an oasis of tears from hopes and dreams of some good food. No salt in sight but the tangy teds made it bearable.

Byron never let’s me down, always comes hot and never disappoints! Also was treated to some brownie bites on the house which was a nice surprise :)

The gluten free burger and brownies were amazing. They had a good variation on the menu for gluten free

I think they have one of the best burgers . Cheese fries were absolutely delicious, wings were soft and well cooked , no blood near the bones(as most restaurants serve them)chicken strips were crispy and tasty. Our preferences were respected by the staff and overall our experience was fantastic, we will definitely return. Prices are decent, staff is friendly and the atmosphere is nice. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed my burger here. Very good options for veggie/vegans and not just the generic options that you get at other burger resturants . Beef and chicken alternatives .

Didn’t enjoy it, don’t recommend it. Menu seems massively depleted. Everything is separate, making it more expensive. Skin on fries, had no skin. Burger was requested to be medium, arrived burnt. I used to really enjoy the food here. Unfortunately I don’t anymore.

The most tasteless burger, I’ve ever had in my entire life, the only thing which added anything to it was the tomato ketchup, an abysmal offering! McDonald’s burgers have far more flavour at a fraction of the cost. The quality is extremely poor for the price they charge

Didn’t get half of what I ordered. When I asked about getting refunded I got told to speak to head office. They replied to one email and have no stopped replying

Food was OK and they do gluten free so misses was happy

I’m coeliac and was able to swap wheat bun for a gluten free. Staff were very attentive to my dietary requirements and actually cannot put into words that eating here was a normal experience. Thank you.

We went here for a late lunch before a cinema trip. The service was very good and quick (although there were only about three other people in there), and the food was very nice. But the restaurant itself was pretty filthy. There were crumbs on the seats of the booth we sat in, and chips on the floor. The loos were also not terribly clean, and there was no loo roll. So not great, all in all.

Arrived here at lunch and were seated straight away - I usually find that rare in busy town centres! The waitress was very friendly and helpful. She served us straight away. The only issue I had was when I asked for the toilet she directed me to the disabled one, and I couldn't access it because I don't have a key plus I'm not disabled. I found the others which were up a flight of stairs. Not ideal on a full bladder! Food was delicious. I had the cheese burgers and cheese fries. I just wish the cheese on the fries was hard and not the sauce type.

We were looking for somewhere to eat and had not been to this restaurant before, so we thought we would give it a try. It was our first visit and will be our last. We had no problem with the staff who were very friendly nor with the quality of the food, but we have a problem with their PRICES!! When you get charged £13.75 for a burger, we would expect chips with it, but no you have pay extra for these, another whopping £3.75 for a portion. Our drinks: a Byron Lager for my husband a mere £5.50 and a sparkling elderflower drink comes in at £3.95 - both of those drinks came in a can, what a markup. We really do NOT expect to pay nearly £50 for 2 burgers, 2 lots of chips and 2 drinks.

A great place to eat in Bury St. Edmunds whatever you are doing. We usually go for dinner, for some reason we are always served by Claudia who is always brilliant. I know everyone at Byron's works hard, but she really does do more than you would ever think possible. Thank you. Whenever you go the service is always very quick and professional, obviously there are lots of delivery drivers in the evenings more than lunchtimes I imagine, but even so it is really worth going. If you are going to an event at the Apex even though it is only round the corner from it, go earlier than normal to Byron's as they will be busy. Great food, freshly cooked. Highly recommend. Even if you think burgers etc aren't your thing, there are lots of other choices, try them, you wont be disappointed.

Used to be our go to place, they've just gradually increased the prices and made the portions much much smaller. What felt like a treat and a place they put heart into the food now just feels like a generic burger place. Sad but we are unlikely to ever return now.

I had the Smokey Burger, Vanilla shake, and tots. The food was hot, the beef was perfectly cooked and had a great taste. This burger also had bacon, which brought out the full taste of the burger.

Friendly staff when being seated and waited on. Very expensive food for what it is with far to much salt, i couldnt even finish my chips due to the amount of salt. The industrial feel is nice until you realise how disgustingly dirty it is. If you choose to not have a suspended ceiling covering up the ducting and electric trays you must clean it. I pointed this out the server and she said they used to have someone come and clean it but not anymore.

We were first timers at this modern burger restaurant. handily placed for The Apex arts centre and Bury St Edmunds shopping. Hands down the best burgers and sides! We didn't have dessert! What we DID have was lovely Emma looking after and advising us. What a star she is! I've lost count of how many burger restaurants we've been to in the last "xx" years. including one in Birmingham last month. Regular readers will know I'm not the easiest customer. .. Between the quality of the food and Emma's amazing service..even I, couldn't fault it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Decided to call in on Friday 27th January evening hadn't booked but was welcomed by a lovely friendly waitress. Who found us a table in a busy restaurant and was very quickly show menus within a few minutes our drinks & food order were taken. Food arrived very soon after & was lovely & hot the burgers (cheese burger & double bacon n cheese burgers) were cooked to perfection.. unfortunately we didn't get the waitresses name but she along with the rest of the Byron staff made our visit a pleasant experience would definitely recommend and will return. We were visiting bury st edmunds today and walked into Byron’s for lunch. Not that busy as was seated straight away, lovely lady took our order1.45 pm . Our meal finally turned up at 2.40pm . I feel it would had been nice to inform your customers there is a delay. I asked for the chicken burger without bun and salad. Salad to me it lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber. I got two very small bits of chicken, very cooked, hard on outside dry inside. Salad was every kind of lettuce possible and what seemed guttered cucumber. I know I should have complained at time but you were very busy with take aways and I just needed to get out. Not a great first experience

Okay, the burgers were tasty but about two thirds (if not half) the size they were a couple of years ago. Also noticed they were just bunged on a plate, whereas they used to arrive far more nicely presented right down to the little flag in the bun to tell you if your burger was medium or well done. No effort to garnish at all. Worst than that - WHERE THE HECK HAVE THE COURGETTE FRIES GONE?! I used to love those and it's ridiculous that they aren't available now. Next, we were told they no longer sell hot drinks!? Appalling decision! We were freezing and wanted a nice hot tea with our food! I certainly wasn't about to pay £3 for a still water so I asked for tap water. I will say we had a lovely waitress - it's only down to her and the taste of the shrunken burgers that they got any stars. It's sad really, I used to enjoy this place about three years ago despite the awful deafening music they played back then...at least that's been turned down. Alas a nice waitress and good flavour on what little you get isn't enough. Sadly we won't be returning and if anyone asks we'll tell them not to bother. Almost £50 for two little burgers, two sides and an unwanted beer = rip off!

God awful service in this place! We tried to get a table at 3.30 and was told they need to catch up and have breaks and therefore couldn’t fit us in until 4.15, the restaurant was empty. We came back at 4.15 but was told our table was booked for 4.30 so contradictive of what the other waitress said. We were then seated and eventually someone came and took our order, the had a festive deal which came with a main, side and drink so we informed the waitress we were having that to which she responded very rudely ‘I’m just doing drinks’, what difference does it make, if we’re ready to order food then take our order! So we ordered one drink for the person not having the deal, we then waited for her to come back about 20 mins later to take our food order, baring in mind we still hadn’t received that drink we ordered which was just a bottle of sprite, not difficult to make. We ordered our food and one of the drinks that came with the deal came out, the second one followed 15 minutes later. We were waiting for our food for a long time, no signs of food coming out, people coming in for takeaways we’re waiting a long while too. Except from Deliveroo drivers, they seemed to prioritise them over the customers that were actually dining in. We were sat in that restaurant for an hour and 15 minutes and still hadn’t received our food, we therefore decided to leave. If there is going to be a wait on food then you should notify the customer when they arrive, not just don’t say anything and hope they’ll wait an eternity to receive the food! Awful and slow service, avoid this place!

Absolutely shocking! We have always visited Byron over the years, as a couple and with the kids. We were really surprised today at the quality, for example the milkshakes are half the size they’ve always been. Presentation in the restaurant leaves something to be desired...

Visited today as a treat for our Grandaughter big mistake. We had Burger with sides of coleslaw and chips and a child’s mac n cheese. I wouldn’t have fed the Mac n cheese to anyone it was rank. An expensive lunch that was not edible....

So I’ve been eating at Byron for years, the first time I went the fries came separately to the burgers, which made the bill very steep. They then changed the menu so the fries came with the burgers as standard - bonus & much better...

Staff are very slow and no customer service,was very disappointed ,as the Ipswich Byron's is brilliant and cooked to perfection.what we got served was overcooked and dry.there was no organisation with the staff and there was only 4 customers including us so was not busy.will not return.

Sadly their burgers have become smaller and the meat always comes medium, does not matter what you ask for. Still tasty but they've seem to have lost quality in the past 2/3 years. PS: bring back the mac&cheese balls

The staff actively avoid customer engagement. Whether it is nerves or a lack of training, waiting staff should ALWAYS be there to talk with customers, get to know them and at least engage in eye contact and acknowledge your presence as a human being. It seems the trend to employ young, naive and shy teenagers. Why do none of your staff know how to make their customers happy or comfortable??? There was one waitress, Kelly, who appeared to be running around like a headless chicken trying to catch up with a restaurant that seemed extremely under staffed. One of the waitresses I saw moved slower than a snail covered in glue and actively avoided even looking at me over 5 times when she walked passed my table. I used to come to your restaurant last year. The staff were pretty decent back then but apparently they all went back to University. It seems you've replaced them all with shy teenagers who look like they don't even enjoy living in their own bodies. Even the big chef who looked like he loves lifting weights decided that walking past whilst looking grumpy and starring at me was a nice thing to do!! Kelly showed interest in me, smiled...gave eye contact when needed and made the trip enjoyable. If it wasn't for her I would have just walked out.... Train your staff or at least employ real human beings that are happy and have time for others. Showing interest in your customers brings them back....just in case you didn't realise that. P.S. It might help if you operated on normal menus and not QR codes which only dilutes the customer/employee interaction. It's very cold and only serves to make YOUR lives easier whilst cutting out the customer....

Burgers are nice chips nice service good but prices are way to much .I would expect the chips to be included , if it's not busy you could be in and out in 15 minutes much better value in a pub and more relaxing spent £81 on 4 burgers chips and cokes ☹️

Booked a table and requested a high chair. Was a nice touch that they actually read my request and the high chair was ready at our table. Staff were really friendly and all of our food was excellent. Lovely restaurant, great staff and ambience.

Had a c-rex with buffalo sauce instead of BBQ - very delicious!!! Kids burgers were also great and one of my kids had the mac and cheese- all dinners eaten. Great service too!! Thank you. X

Really good burger here. All tasted really nice, skin on fries were amazing as well. Weekday deal of a cheese burger, fries and a coke for £9.95 was very good. The waitress was very helpful and was always smiling. Would deffinately recommend this place if you want a decent burger.

Called in for a quick bit of lunch whilst Christmas shopping in Bury. As normal we were asked if either of us had any food allergies, I explained yes, me to citrus fruit and juice, we then had a full lost of ingredients and allergens discretely handed over so I could make informed menu choices, this was fantastic. Food ordered, a classic double quarter pounder and a clucky burger, plus some seasoned fries, all really tasty and arrived in good time, the beef burgers cooked medium as requested. The consideration and attention to detail make this our go too place in Bury.

Nice food, But overpriced for what you got small burgers for a gourmet burger, expected bigger burger, took 25 minutes for food to arrive, not that busy. Lovely waiter.

Literally the best burger place around, food is amazing! 1 star deducted for cleanliness....could be better, quite big cobwebs above booths and they were not just there for Halloween 😉 Also service not that fantastic or friendly. Wouldn't put me off going back though.

Customer service was lack luster and dismal. We ordered strawberry shakes when we got them they didn't have any strawberries in. We mentioned this and the waitress said oh sorry I didn't make them, then she promptly walked off.

Family meal for four at weekend, burgers and fries average nothing special, milkshakes good. No side extras purchased but bill over £80 pounds. Tables not that clean and no COVID precautions in restaurant by staff ! Will not be returning in future afraid !

Unfortunately, burgers that arrived were completely burnt, inedible. I do not know what caused it, but the person who prepared them must have seen what happened and just ignored it. We feel very disappointed and for sure will not order again.

Booked a meal on Saturday evening before we went to the cinema. Sadly the grill broke down so our meal went swiftly out of the window. . We were so looking forward to a delicious Byron burger but wasn't to be. Thank goodness for Carluccios!
