Fabulous location, close to the town centre. Parking is limited. We were lucky as the school next door was on holiday so we could use their parking area. Great rooms, which have been refurbished recently, brilliant breakfast and a really vibrant fun atmosphere in the pub. Loved it. 😍

Went here twice for food and a couple of drinks in the last week. The place was absolutely packed with people for Christmas parties. Despite this the staff were top notch at getting our food and drinks out to us. The food was great and good value for money. The only thing I would say is that it was a festive menu when I went and there wasn’t loads and loads to choose from. But the food I got was still really good. Would happily go again at a different time of year to try other things.

We ate here last night. It was busy and the female member of staff that cleared a table for us was very good, and other members of staff were friendly. However the food was not good. My daughter's pasta was literally pasta with a hint of tomato sauce, which is a rip off for a fiver because that costs pennies. My son had sausages which were clearly very cheap, again a rip off so I wasn't happy with the kids meals at all. My wife had the turkey dinner, which I am certain the turkey was reformed as it didn't look or taste right, and for £16 again that is a rip off. I had pie, and while it was tasty it lacked meat filling. So overall the food was pretty awful and definitely not worth the price. We've eaten and Greene king before and been pleased but I really do think we won't be eating at one again in a hurry, £40 for a bad meal, I'm not happy! Edit: After speaking to the manager in the morning I was very happy with how the issue was resolved. I can't fault the staff here or the accommodation as the rooms are very nice (this was our second stay).

Popped in for Sunday lunch right near Christmas and had a lovely dinner in convivial surroundings at a reasonable cost, loved it. I have to commend the patience of the waitress listening to a whining hound on the next table complaining that her mash wasn’t near enough to another item of her dinner, if I’d had to listen to that I’m afraid I’d have expressed myself in a rather less polite fashion , so to make up for that we left her a tenner as we left. Highly recommended though!.

Always use this pub as it’s on my way home from work. Great selection of beers and I normally drink Ice Breaker as it’s a great session beer. Great menu on offer and with Christmas on the way it gets better. Always get on well with the staff as they are all heroes. Did use my app to order a pint when there was a big crowd one day and got served quickly. This pub is my second nearest local from home and I would use this pub no problem. Sundays can be a problem if you don’t book but check with the staff

I spoke to the manager the next day which she replied...sometimes if the glass is different they put an extra splash of coke in..load of crap. I said so if i bought a double then came up and bought another it could be £3 more due to the glass. You just lost atleast 15 peoples custom with a poor excuse to overcharge

The staffing levels here are appaling. The food is sub par. Booked for Sunday roast armt 3pm . On arrival we discovered the beef would not be ready for another hour, so we ordered chicken. 1/2 roast chicken should include a breast, not just a leg and wing. Advertised hispi cabbage, but instead received a slightly charred slice imof white cabbage. Roast potatoes had been introduced to the oven in a passing fashion, and wete neither roast, not acceptable. Undercooked cauliflower cheese, and the "chef" has apparently never heard of salt. Everything appallingly underseasoned. Would not recommend.

Nice spot. However: Service not great not great. Food was disappointing... crab starter was OK... crispy sourdough was certainly crisp as deep fried! Burger and the bun were burnt.... and the bun was poor quality... BBQ sauce had unidentified lumps looking like branston pickle... chips were at best lukewarm... well those that were still there after the girl serving shot a lot of them on the floor (not that she noticed and no apololgy!) Prosecco was ok but glass small... the only highlight was the cloudy IPA which was spot on.

This was our first visit to the pub, we decided to eat here after the men had done the Brewery Tour, oh how wrong we’re we! Placed out order for six adults and one child’s menu, it took a long time, the pub was very busy, we were not told how long we’d have to wait, food eventually arrived, the steak was over cooked, looked an odd colour, we eventually managed to get an waitress attention, by the time the replacement arrived the rest of us had almost finished, ordered some more drinks We wanted to pay the bill, asked for it several times, got fed up on waiting, went to the bar, couldn’t not get any one’s attention, to enough staff, when the bill was finally produce it came to a ridiculous amount over £200! No way and we spent that much, our table was known as the TvTable, no number, we tried to explain what we had, asked for the actual bill, we couldn’t look at it We realised that we’d got the previous people bill, seems that they didn’t it pay it!!!! ITS TOO EASY TO ORDER FOOD AND DRINK AND EASY TO WALK AWAY AS THE STAFF DON’T BRING YOU THE BILL, WE TRIED TO RESOLVE THE MATTER, NO ONE WAS INTERESTED, PEOPLE WERE QUEING UP BEHIND US TO PLACE ORDERS AND WERE GETTING INPATIENT !,, WE WERE OVER CHARGED BY ALMOST £65 WE SHALL NOT BE GOING BACK HERE OR TO ANY GREEN KING PUB/BRWERY IT SPOILT THE DAY FOR US ALL, MY FIRST AND LAST VISIT!!! We won’t be RIPPED OFF AGAIN TOO EASY TO WALK AWAY AND NOT BE NOTICED BY STAFF!!!

This has the potential to be an amazing pub. But the awful bar service really lets it down. There is never enough bar staff serving for the demand. 3 deep at the bar and only 2 staff serving is atrocious. They also refuse to serve at one side of the bar - resulting in the serving side being overcrowded. Add to that the over-priced drinks and it really does spoil the experience. Madness. In response to the owner - there is no point stating how busy you are but doing nothing about it. Use all of the bar area and get more staff serving! The volume of reviews that say similar things surely merits more action??

Put an ipad in front of me and said " read this and tick the box" I didn't get it at first, but the next page shows 14 ' popular allergies, mine wasn't there! I asked what ingredients were in certain dishes, he didn't know! Unless made on the premises, even then he couldn't " legally" say what was made on the premises and what wasn't! I ended up with chips! My friends said their meals were tasty, but I won't go back. To add to this, the bar staff were out serving food and no one was behind the bar for drinks. This is our local pub and we often pop in on our way home. Yesterday we did exactly that at about 3.30pm but we were unable to get a table as every single one had ‘Reserved’ on it! We were informed by the barmaid that it was because they had a lot of bookings that evening. We said we just wanted a quick drink and were told ‘I think table no.10 is free’ We couldn’t find the table and eventually sat at a ‘Reserved’ one as it was too cold and wet to sit outside. This is a pub. People pop in for a drink. There should be tables free to sit at. If all those tables were genuinely reserved for the evening why put the signs on them at 3.30 in the afternoon??

I booked a dinner for two and ordered a roast beef and roast chicken. The roast beef was undercooked and very little of it. (It was changed to chicken)The chicken was hard work in the sense of cutting into it as it was stilled skinned and boned. The roast potatoes were so small and could not enjoy the experience of a normal roast spud due to the limited size. The vegetables were insufficient and not much choice; there should be broccoli and more choice of veg instead of a large piece of cabbage. We left still feeling very hungry and disappointed. I prefer certain white wine and there was no Marlborough Savinon blanc or Sancere which was very disappointing, The overall experience was was not that I expected as the venue is very nice and staff friendly and helpful.

The pub has just been refurbished so thought we would give the new menu a chance. Having picked our table it was a bit dirty from the previous customers, on asking for it to be cleaned we were amazed that the young lady behind the bar passed us the cleaning bottle and cloth so we could do it ourselves! Never had this happen before in any pub/restaurant... We chose our food choices which arrived in good time but unfortunately the food was extremely disappointing, the chicken kiev was a hard disc that could have been used as a weapon and I have uploaded a photo of half of a steak ciabatta, the amount of steak included was a joke, this was £9.25! They had bothered to ask me how I would like the steak cooked but the slithers of steak were so tiny there was no point, it was either cooked or not (luckily it was cooked) The fish & chips on the menu stated crushed peas but it arrived with normal garden peas, no sooner had our food arrived the person who I assume was the chef came out from the kitchen, backpack on and off, maybe this was a rushed job but it was very poor. It is a lovely building and the new garden looks great but the staff have badly let this down which is a great pity.

We booked dinner on Sunday for 10 People, I emailed in to book as website only allows up to 9 people. Only issue I had was response to email, but this so could have been my end? From organising to final drinks and desert, The Dog and Partridge atmosphere, staff, food was absolutely phenomenal! We all were in agreement that we felt we was in a silver service venue. The Politeness of all staff and quality to detail was simply awesome. I just hope that we left a substantial tip? But that part was taken out of my control. I would recommend the push for further coffees or drinks at end. This may give more revenue? Perhaps? But overall we definitely will be going back.

Pros - refurbished rooms. Much better than previously. Although the lock was already damaged and carpet had stains. A little more attention to detail needed. Outside area attractive although plants were dying! Majority of staff friendly. Cons - had lunch booked with friends. All of the Sunday roast dinners were served cold! All were returned and replaced. This was after a long old wait for our food. Salad was uninspiring and the fish cakes pretty basic served on a small plate. It was obvious that the staff were stretched and couldn’t cope. This did spoil our stay. No one wants a cold roast dinner 😶 This is a greene king managed pub and one of our party works for the company. So a pretty poor show from the Dog & Partridge food wise. If the restaurant improved we would go back.

Had an amazing meal. Recommend the crab burger. Lovely staff. I understand that Greene King directors eat there!

Further to the management comments. (which I appreciate). Just to be clear I have NOT been contacted by central reservations or any arm of Greene King. I guess somebody is being given misleading information.

We were staying locally for a weekend away and booked a table on saturday evening as dogs are welcome which we needed. From start to finish this was an excellent experience. The website is informative and online booking was easy, the table was ready and all staff friendly and helpful, the food was great, promptly served and reasonably priced, the ambience is family and dog friendly. This truly is a fabulous place and we would recommend. My only caution is that there is no carpark so you need to use public parking which on a Saturday is free after 6pm so book a table after that.

Located right next door to the brewery in older part of town. Pleasant atmosphere with standard Greene King food served. Probably worth booking if going doing busy hours.

The rooms are stunning! Recently refurbished and a lovely bit of luxury. Breakfast was good and good prices for the location. BUT: When I arrived, I was told that parking was on a first-come-first-served basis. This wasn't described anywhere on the website. The car park was full, and so my husband drove around for 30 minutes trying to find space. When I asked for help about this (having left him driving round Bury!) the staff member told me of 2 nearby car parks that were unavailable due to varying opening times and the market. They weren't very understanding or helpful in the situation. When my husband eventually found a space that was in the complete opposite end of town, (which we had to pay for - £8 in total!) he realised that he would need to move the car again at 8am the following morning. In all, it tainted our stay, added significant stress and extra expense to our visit, and was a huge inconvenience. If we had known about the lack of available parking (6 spaces, 9 rooms), then we would not have chosen to stay at this hotel.

Unfortunately all the hand pumped ales, except the IPA, were not available, and I'm afraid the IPA was 'tangy'. But a good basic, atmospheric and lively locals pub.

I was having a rubbish day, decided to stay in and order take away whilst watching a Christmas movie. When the food arrived not only was is still piping hot & delicious, they gave me a free dessert with a little note and honestly that’s the warm hug I needed today.

Qued up for ages, finally got to the till to be told it's card payments only, no signs saying that, total waste of time.

Good choice of sandwiches which were presented nicely with a sald. Quite busy on a Sunday afternoon so the wait was a little longer than we would have liked.
