Nothing special but I don't think it's meant to be. No Sunday roasts left on a Sunday and everything else we had was seemingly cooked from frozen in a dirty fryer. Can't recommend it I'm afraid 😕

Food was deelish. Hot, tasty and cooked to perfection. Cheryl who served us was an exceptional host. Cheryl was excellent at her job, very professional and extremely calm in busy periods. Nothing was too much trouble. A great time was had at The Greengage.

We arrived as a family of 7. (4 adults and 3 children ). We were warmly welcomed and seated and looked forward to a nice family meal. However when we asked about gluten free options the response from staff was very hazy and gave no comfort to the 2 family members with intolerance to gluten. Not sure where a menu may be offering the gluten free options. Then an iPad was produced but not sure it would work as wasn’t often 🤷‍♀️. We asked lots of important questions of what would be safe for gluten intolerant people and how things were cooked. What fryers were used for what. Answers were so vague and could have resulted in a very serious outcome if we hadn’t been so adamant of wanting to know how things were cooked. We finally agreed on gammon with jacket potatoes. These then arrived as gammon with chips (which were not safe)! Sent this meal back to the kitchen and the comment was “they didn’t see my note about intolerance”. How can a restaurant kitchen operate on such flimsy communication 🤬. Meals came back with a jacket potato in place of the chips. However this had simply been the same meal now with a potato as there was a chip stuck underneath one of the gammon steaks! Again cross contamination was likely and in a severe allergy this could be very serious. Although the staff were very apologetic this is a very worrying situation and I would highly recommend that anyone with severe allergies should avoid eating at this restaurant.

I love a Hungry Horse. They're like an even worse version of a Spoons. Keep your expectations where they belong and you won't be disappointed. Cheap food, nice people, always local, always to a standard, good deals AND they serve vegan food so flexible for all the family. Don't be visiting a HH and complain about anything unless you're complaining there and then. They'll do their best to make amends, and anyway, what did you expect? I strongly believe anyone leaving a bad google review is a whiney cheapskate.

We were a party of 5 who dined here on the evening of Friday 31st January. On arrival and getting the drinks I spoke to Gary the manager as I have a fish allergy including cross contamination after being assured that the fish was cooked separately we chose our meals.. When we went to order the allergy order was taken first... my cutlery came out separately and had been washed separately from the others the food arrived to the table again the allergy order first with the chef wearing gloves to protect that there was no contamination.. I spoke to Gary again after the meal and congratulated him and his team and the chef for going out of there way to make dining a pleasure. It's not very often I can eat out like this without having a reaction of some sort because there had been some sort of contamination.. the waitresses were spot on and very polite forgive me for not getting your names especially the one with the butterfly tattoo on her arm... Needless to say I left leaving a £10 tip and will certainly be back... Once again a HUGE Thanks to Gary and his team. xx

Went for a Sunday roast, absolutely lovely, really good portions at a reasonable price. £10 for a roast and soft drinks. Claire and Eva were locely, friendly and helpful.

The food was ok. It took a bit of time coming out but the staff were friendly enough. The atmosphere wasn't great. Really quiet. I suppose i expected it to be quite busy as it was Friday afternoon. I think staff need to check more ( but not overwhelm) that customers are happy with their food. Not worth the money I spent. Can't say I'll be in a hurry to return.

We went here for Christmas dinner today and we can't praise it enough ... food was delicious, service was spot on, it wasn't too crowded and we weren't rushed in anyway! Well done to Gary and all the Greengage staff! Will be back next Christmas (and no doubt many times in 2025!) ...

We went to breakfast with santa today and loved it! Not only was it great value for money but our littles have had their day made by the experience. The food was lovely and all of the staff + Santa were amazing and so kind and friendly with our children making them feel comfortable and excited for it all. We will definitely be looking at doing this again next year if we can. Thank you! 💜

The food was bad,it smelled like the food was prepared with used oil,the wings were dry,the burger was the wrong one, it was dry,the food was horrible in general.

Went here for drinks and food on 30 November. The staff were very welcoming, particularly the Manager who was serving at the bar, and Clare who was bringing out the food. The food was great, freshly cooked and steak cooked to perfection. Highly recommend.

We had a delicious Roast beef with vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, a tasty colyfower cheese and it was only £10 every Sunday including the drinks. Excellent service. Atmosphere was friendly, smiling and they recommend to try the Christmas pudding which is having raspberry trifle cheescake. Thanks to Clare for welcome us and having a laugh!

Attended here for Halloween theme kids breakfast on Halloween morning. Kids absolutely loved it, loads decorations up, they got to carve pumpkins while waiting for the Halloween themed kids pancakes arrived. Amazing value for money. Loads to keep kids busy. The witch serving us was so friendly and helpful. 🎃🧙‍♀️ Already booked for the breakfast with Santa as I know kids will love it and be magical experience which doesn't cost crazy money ⛄🎄🤶

I am so disappointed and disgusted by the food we received. My daughter had a kids roast dinner and the carrots were rock hard and felt as if they hadn't been cooked. The 'pigs in blankets' ,which had hardly any bacon wrapped around them, were hard and disgusting. To add insult to injury, I had a Tandoori chicken stiller and the chicken was burnt and the peppers and onions didn't taste fresh at all! Is this what i should expect from a 4 star restaurant! This is absolutely appalling!!! The 2 person sharer had hardly anything on it, it had 3 onion rings and 1 chicken goujions. Also the staff were uncomforting.

Food came within 15-20 mins for my family of four, amazing value for money. Food was absolutely delicious and hot on arrival.

I ate here with my Mother who has a severe lactose intolerance. The lady who took my order made sure she was aware of the allergy and even looked at the ingredients on one of the sauces. We came in for a drink as it’s our 30 month anniversary we came in and was immediately greeted by Richy who was so happy and polite! He made us our drinks perfectly to how we asked and was joking around with us and made us feel so at home! He was so funny and a delight to be served by! We came in today for our daughter’s second birthday and was served by Ricky. He was polite, service on point and gave our daughter a little lion teddy key ring even though he didn’t have to it was a nice gesture and she is now obsessed with it. All round great service.

Massive change since it's been taken over by Gary (i think that's his name) and his team! Had lunch with a couple friends. Food was good for the price and clean and Steve was very polite and helpful.

Another dilapidated, underfunded and neglected brewery run restaurant. Microwaved food, half the menu missing, broken old furniture and a general rather sad environment. Only popped in for something quick to eat. Saving grace was the waitress Ann-Marie she was really friendly, professional and saved the experience from being a total waste of time.

The food was what you’d expect in any Greene king establishment so no big surprises there. The interior has clearly seen better days and really needs a total redecoration job. Our server Ann Marie was fantastic, really friendly and provided some recommendations. Service with a smile and it’s so lovely to see that hospitality in some form is still well and truly alive. Thank you!

Service is really bad since you have to wait a long time before ordering and having someone at the counter. Food is really average + took a long time and drinks have no taste. Do not recommend at all.

Went there today before work as I had a tesco voucher to use. Placed an order for a roast beef dinner. Quite a long wait for mine to arrive and seeing someone who ordered after me get theirs before was odd. Then a family who turned up a good 20 minutes after myself were presented with a roast beef dinner. The manager then came and took that particular plate away and 5 minutes later I was served mine. Same plate I'm assuming. Now the dinner, as a hungry horse you don't expect the best quality but you would expect it to be a bit above luke warm. The peas were like bullets and the green beens hard and a challenge to chew. The beef was acceptable but the mash was a solid lump. It wasn't a particularly busy afternoon so would have expected slightly better and I understand they can only serve what they're supplied with - just let it heat up a little longer and serve those in order. I've been there a few times and had a decent meal so maybe an off day.

First time at this pub, popped in after bowling as the wait for food there was over an hour. Was instantly disappointed at the lack of tables available, not due to customers but due to plates and glasses from previous patrons. I had to use wet wipes to clean the table before we sat down with the kids and baby. After we ordered food, I overheard complaints from other customers regarding waiting an hour for a portion of chips, getting the wrong order and the lack of cleanliness. We did get our food in a timely manner and the kids enjoyed it, my husband found his mixed grill was all deep fried at the same time so some items were over done however his burger was cooked perfectly, medium rare. My husband ordered the kids desserts but after half an hour for just ice-cream and a brownie, my daughter asked how long it would be and they said they didn't realise we were still waiting and would do it now, after 10 further minutes we left and grabbed a dessert from Macdonald's on the drive home. Overall it spoiled our day out

Be careful with the advertised special offers, eg feed the family for £x, these actually require a keen eye to decipher what you really can and can't have. Unfortunately the bar staff weren't able to help much more other than explaining what the till would allow or not allow. We ended up paying the same as a fancy restaurant in town for microwave meals, dirty and missing cutlery, and chef smelling of cigarettes.
