Had a great lunch at the Greengage with Clare being a wonderful host. Been here several times on before and always seem to have a decent meal with great service included.

Great food and service from Clare , she was really amazing making sure we were well looked after and everything was ok .

we went there today and everything was great our waitress Clare was the best and the food portions were massive (bigger than we thought) and it was overall just a great experience

Highly recommended. The service was 10 out 10 also food was really nice. All parts of mix grill where cooked perfectly and with good taste. 👍

The wrap was burnt and hard. Not even folded like a wrap. Added cheap American cheese when it didn't state it came with it. Fries burnt. The lemonade was the best but about it.

I came for a family members birthday & the staff were amazing, Anna behind the bar was so fast and polite, the food was delicious, will definitely be coming again.

We came here for my daughters 13th birthday and had a lovely time. The food was great and at a great price. All the staff were friendly and happy. We had a lady called Claire serving us and she made the whole experience brilliant for us all. Thank you so much Claire and we'll see you again soon.

Popped in for an early lunch and honestly cannot fault anything - the food was amazing - hot and tasty and the staff weee extremely attentive, especially Clare. I would highly recommend coming here. Will definitely be returning. Thank you!

I’ve had very nice food here in the past, but not today - Sun 30 June. Greeted by a miserable young man with a ponytail (that’s not the issue). He was unfriendly and even a bit scary. The fish was fried too dark and was flat (like plaice but it was cod). It was dry. The chips were lukewarm. The cutlery was dirty. On replacing that - it was no better. Sorry.

People are rude. Talk to you like dirt

Popped in for a quick meal after work. Food was good and Rohan who served was energetic, efficient and fun. We couldn’t finish the ultimate candy mania dessert but it was lush.

Late lunch , I’ve had a 12 ounce cooked to perfection very nicely seasoned and charred the entirety of the visit was astonishing . Last time I was this happy about a meal i put it in my journal , this visit will go into it also 🤯🥰

I have been into the Greengage for a long time but I haven't yet left a review until Gary has taken over as manager. He is very friendly as are all the staff and nothing seems too much hassle.

Went last night with a couple friends to have a couple of drinks and some picky bits. The staff were really friendly and polite. We ordered the chicken strips and they were delicious. Met gary who asked us how our food was and we told him it was great. Will definitely go there again.

Met with friends for lunch. The staff (Russ and his assistant) were very welcoming. We tried the curry and drink offer and it was a very nice curry and good value. Cheesecake was nice too. Will go again.

Was disappointed by another pub in the area so drove to this one as it was the nearest to where I was. Great pub and warmly welcomed as I walked in by Clare who was the perfect host. Chatty, friendly and took my order promptly. Pub itself is what I’d expect from a food pub. Ordered a steak… was perfect and so glad I came here instead. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Clare and Russel on duty, gave their undivided attention , very helpful and polite. Especially Claire, bent over backwards to make sure we were happy , comfortable and had what we needed! A very pleasant visit .

Visited this pub whilst on a birthday weekend. What a gem we found! Food was amazing and our host, Russ I believe was charming and attentive. If we’re down that way again we’ll certainly revisit

Amazing service, we was really well looked after from start to finish the staff bent over back wards to accommodate myself, my partner and 3 fussy children . Russ the new GM was brilliant he really interacted with the children and made them laugh and made time to come over and introduce himself . The food was delicious can’t fault it will be back again . Lovely meal out with our with family in the school holiday. Very busy, but the staff handled it extremely well and was very accommodating

I usually love coming here, however on this occasion the whole experience was not what I would have expected. I ordered my food at 16:22 and my starter didn't arrive until 40 mins later. Being on my own, I was hesitant to leave my table to ask at the bar in case someone came and took my seat or if my food arrived whilst I was queuing. My starter, hallumi sticks with chilli sauce, was lukewarm as if it had been left under a heat lamp and forgotten about. They tasted fine enough but not worth the £6 odd I paid. I finished my food quickly as I was very hungry at this stage and then proceeded to wait a further 20 minutes for my main course to arrive. All the while, patrons who arrived after I did were being served their food! A kind bar staff member offered to get me another drink whilst I waited, which I appreciated greatly. When my main eventually arrived, the Home Run burger with fries, it was missing the salt and pepper seasoning that I paid extra for. I didn't bother to hail a member of staff because I didn't think it was worth it for 50p. The burger itself was OK but missing the burger sauce as advertised. The fries were cold by the time they arrived. I don't think it makes a difference whether I enjoyed the food or not at this point. The whole experience has left a sour taste in my mouth, and I left feeling very unhappy. This is the first time that this has happened, and although I do want to give them another chance in the future, I won't hurry back. This review isn't indicative of the staff I encountered; everyone I came into contact with was polite, friendly and apologetic. It's just a shame the quality of food and lengthy wait times overshadowed the service. Disappointing.

Had the big curry on the Special night with a pint could not believe the plate of food that turned up and even more it included a pint and all for a tenner must be the best value in town! All served quickly by friendly staff

Food basis but get what you pay for. Chef shouted at staff to stop sending orders through as needed a break! Very understaffed! Decor in need of spruce up! And to top it off a fight broke out in the car park whilst getting in our cars with my young children and parents present! Rough!! Will never go again!

We stopped coming here for a while as it had become not great but we returned on a friends recommendation and it was brilliant, food was lovely and everyone was friendly

A little disappointed, came in at 9.15 pm was told the kitchen closes at 9, came in the following night at 8.15pm and told the kitchen closed early ! 3 times I've ordered and no chicken, no steak , really surprised for hungry horse to be honest , if I come in again and have the same problem my family will eat elsewhere, being a chef myself I understand stock can run out, but everything I come in ?

Hadnt been in years thought ide try again, the food was very dissapointing. My steak came rare so unedible, sent it back it came out even more rare that i was confused also all was cold, my friends mix grill was cold and over cooked.By this point kids had eaten before they brought mine out 2nd time i sent it back, in fairness they gave full refund. Everyone else on the tables were also not happy with their orders. Bad day maybe lol

Very slow service, food was all kinds of different temperatures, wasn't very enjoyable

Been here a handful of times. Never had an issue. Food is just as good as any other Hungry Horse chain that I have been to. Good menu deals depending on the day and staff have always been polite and inviting.

Thought I would give Greengage another visit as its under new management. Its much better than it was 8 months ago. The food was good and very good value for a family deal. Lost one star for service missing cutlery and no cutlery available to collect myself. They had clearly just had some big tables in prior to us arriving so there were a lot of tables that need to be cleared but food was quick and we had a good visit. Will come again.

Despite being short staffed and not having all the items on the menu, the food was lovely and service from Clare was great. Would visit again if we stay in Bury St Edmunds.

Honestly was awful, the food was very poor most of it was cold, they wasn't aware we reserved a table in after we received confirmation, me and my family left extremely disappointed, would of been better off with a microwave meal.

Nice relaxed atmosphere, a great price for food and Chloe Ann is a credit to the greengage team

Alan cooked my steak spot on in the kitchen, he was on his own in the kitchen and knocked it out the park. Clare was spot on with the service and made us feel very welcome.
