The best restaurants in Victoria Southend-on-Sea East of England

Everytime I go to Wagamamas, Chelmsford OR southend, they mess up the order. Bearing in the mind my mum has allergies and the staff acted super aware of that, some waitress brought my mum the wrong plate and she had to have medical treatment. The place wasn’t even busy so why is every staff messing up orders and not taking extra care? Also, whenever I order ramen, it comes out SUSPICIOUSLY quickly. But knowing multiple people who used to work there, I gather it’s all frozen stuff anyway according to them. Also, on my birthday once we went there as a group, everyone got their meal and my friend got her vegetarian food and the server gave her the wrong thing. She had to wait 15-20 mins for her food whilst everyone on the table was eating so we wasn’t eating in a simultaneous manner, there was NO compensation or apology whatsoever. Also they love to rush you, “are you done?” and take everything. You’re better off spending money at a small business with authentic stuff, don’t waste your time OR your money. Sure, try it once. But definitely it’s a mortgage and a half, and your food will come out incorrectly with terrible staff..

Great food, the suya is made from good steak, with perfectly fried plantain and good salad, large sharing portion great atmosphere, music etc

Really yummy food! We had jerk chicken and rice with peas and veggies- all really fresh and om nom noms. Johnny made a coleslaw fresh even though he'd run out. What a sweetie! We'll be back again soon! Thanks J 🌸💖

Lovely place to chill and watch the world go by. Perfect for ore or post cinema coffee, grab in a to go cup and your ready for a movie as Odeon is right outside.

Said was delivering for 30 mins

I had an atrocious experience in the restaurant. Actually, I thought the food is ok. But service was really terrible.Because at that time I suddenly feel quite unwell as in my period.I fainted and lying on the ground at second floor and my face turned pale and I was sweating profusely. I can’t even talk and get up. But the women manager asked me to get up twice unconcerned and unsympathetic without any help and said it would affect their other customers. I wish I could , but I couldn’t. I whisper I need pain killers.One of the male staff would like to help me to buy it and the manager would not let him to do that. It was awful in such a vulnerable state and not receive the support I needed, but the male staff was helpful and I feel grateful even now.Anyway, It’s so frustrating when people don’t show basic empathy especially when I in a tough spot.

Bank holiday Monday ruined…. Was really excited to try the new menu however when I arrived I encountered issues with ordering from the QR code… I went to the desk to ask for assistance but the barman struggled to use the bar ordering system himself. Then when trying to pay for the food the one card machine in the restaurant refused to work. The staff blamed this on the weather… it was drizzling outside (eye roll). No solution offered other than paying by cash. Didn’t even give us an option to wait for a tech solution just cancelled our food, would have been nice to have a secondary option like bank transfer. Ended up going to the Alex pub down the road. Their system worked first time and had some great food. Evening recovered!

Awful. Pizza was a hard frozen base. I would have had a better dinner going to get a £2 pizza out of Asda. Sorry excuse for a take away, no pride or care taken in their food what so ever. Delivery time was a joke.

Normalmente nos encantan Shakeaways y soy un gran admirador. Yo estaba tan decepcionado con mi visita de hoy. Yo sólo tenía unos minutos, así que solo pedimos básico aéreo ó menta. Había dos camareros, pero entre ellos tardó casi veinte minutos para hacer mi apretón mientras reían y sniggering me y la otra al cliente en la tienda sentir muy incómodo. Cuando finalmente recibí mi apretón no gusto demasiado y terminó arrojando más de distancia. Muy decepcionante, ya que decir que me encanta la experiencia shakeaway normalmente.

Salad was fine, however the meatballs were ridiculous. Meatballs were advertised as "melted mozzarella and cheddar cheese, covered in our signature marinara sauce" - Very disappointed, next to no sauce and there was no cheese. Basically charged £2.49 for 4 meatballs, no sauce and no cheese. Want my money back. First photo shows as advertised, 2nd is how i received it.

This place used to be great, but must have changed ownership as this time was genuinely the worst Chinese food I have ever had in my life. "Singapore Noodles" was just a chicken chow mein with normal noodles and a couple of shrimp, rest was awful too

Foods wonderfull, but the waitress I had needs to learn some basic manners. Telling a customer to sit instead of asking..

I’ve been craving for Chinese food and decided to give Happy House a try. I ordered egg fried rice, sweet and sour king prawn balls with the sauce, and a dish in black bean sauce. I got free prawn crackers (thanks). Portion sizes are good and I’ve got enough left over for tomorrow. I would order from here again and choose different things from the menu in order to see what else I like.
