Happy House Chinese Takeaway in Southend-on-Sea

I’ve been craving for Chinese food and decided to give Happy House a try. I ordered egg fried rice, sweet and sour king prawn balls with the sauce, and a dish in black bean sauce. I got free prawn crackers (thanks). Portion sizes are good and I’ve got enough left over for tomorrow. I would order from here again and choose different things from the menu in order to see what else I like.

I love the food just disappointed with the price now. Since lock down the price has gone up by 8 quid for my usual order. Seems really expensive now. Update 13/11/23.. Unfortunately it's only getting worse 😕 and more expensive 😫

Recently discovered this takeaway after having to hop between a few other Chinese takeaways for the last couple of years due to the standard of the food continually dropping but the prices continually rising!! We used to be spoilt for choice in this town for Chinese takeaway but sadly that’s not the case anymore. Thank goodness I discovered Happy House. Although the food is pricy, it is absolutely incredible and worth every penny. They have gained a new loyal customer, have even recommend to friends and family and they agree how good the food is and are also converted. Thank you Happy House : )

Order arrived quickly but ‘special’ curry was very poor in quantity, content & consistency. Loads of mushrooms in it with not much else so they are obviously cutting back while their prices have increased a great deal. The sweet & sour prawns HK style was watery with only 3 small pieces of green pepper & 3 v thin slices of carrot the rest being chunks of onion & tinned pineapple. Special fried rice was so salty I threw most of it away which at £6.75 we aren’t happy about at all. Called them to complain about the portion size of curry but fobbed off with a story of how many pieces of meat etc goes in & a feeble sorry. No offer of anything else. We have used this takeaway for years but will not be returning. Here’s to drinking a few litres of water tonight 😡🥵

Very nice food fresh staff lovely and the best in town I am fuzzy about food but this happy house I am not fuzzy give it a go please

Was 2 hours late as a127 shut so delivery driver was to lazy to walk down and deliver so took back to shop and when we phoned shop they told us had been taken back and would resend then delivery driver moaned as if it was our fault he had to walk a few extra yards was very rude totally disgusted do your job don't moan at customer

Been waiting almost 2 hrs for delivery!!!

Staff are always friendly and the food is great!

Have used this place for delivery about 10 times at first the food was excellent but the last two or three times has been very disappointing we are now on the lookout for a new takeaway

Absolutely fantastic service, always. Great food. Fair prices. The lady always greets us with a smile, and is very polite. She remembers us and gives us a discount, even though she doesn’t have to. I haven’t a bad thing to say about this place. To the reviewers that left 4/5 despite having zero problems and were happy with the restaurant, it’s okay to leave 5/5, guys. To the person that left a bad review because they were shut, grow up.
