Nice pub to drink in with friends.

Terrible. I have a situation with my personal health. I have to drink a lot of water for my kidney and liver health. I am a 53 year old company Director. I pleaded with the bar staff to let me have a pee. Nothing else, just a pee. They would not let me. They did not direct to any public facilities, just told me I could not use their toilets, and sent me away. This made me feel degraded and inhuman. What a terrible way to treat someone. Disgraceful people, please, please do not support them. Horrible way to treat a fellow human being. All we need is dignity and respect in life and they do not treat you with any of this. Happy to come in and discuss when I don't need to use your urinal but honestly 20 somethings with no respect are people that should not be in charge of a bar...

Seafront pub, that has music at the weekends. Quite a large premises. There is a pool table away from the entertainment if the music isn't your thing. Staff are very pleasant, no wait, as there were about four staff members serving. Not sure if the pub serves food. I don't think it was available as the night in question was a Saturday. But the seafront has plenty of food outlets, so spoilt for choice. Band on Saturday was quite good. (Photos from Google)

This is a family pub , I was with my 2 kids one mix raced and they kick them out because they’re not 18. When was 2 children playing darts on the back. This was a racist act , never come back here. Disgusting

Always a great atmosphere, good bands and well run venue.

Very disappointed in this place. We wanted to have a sit down and a drink there but were very much needing the toilet before we buy more drinks. A very unfriendly blonde woman stopped us at the door of the loos and said we are not allowed in before we buy an alcoholic drink. One of my friends was pregnant and does not consume alcohol. This is outrageous. Be human! Don’t be be so money grabbing. We were gonna buy a drink there but we did not want to give our money to such cruel people. Disgrace!

I would rate the food, but due to the incredibly rude and poor service I wasn’t able to experience it. The lady working the bar was hostile and unfriendly. She was unwelcoming before I had a chance to even order which perplexed me. I would absolutely not recommend this location.

Love this pub! Great service and atmosphere and gorgeous resident dogs who really make your visit special!!! I adore Bobby (the Staffie!)! Host regular gigs which are brilliant and have a weekly karaoke night. All good fun! Xxx

So rude the woman who works here. We were going to stay for a coke but just used the toilet due to how rude she was so we walked out. Went to the toilet. And over heard her talking badly about me and my husband. So we walked out and didn't stay. It's proper rough and run down. The toilet stinks and was unclean.

First time coming down this neck of the woods. Was feeling uncomfortable, even trying other pubs I still felt unfortunate. Until I came here. Not that I spoke to anyone, it was just a feeling of ease, and decent music. If I am down here again I will be back.

This place is shambolic. Happy to serve you until they get bored and then happy to bar you for no reason. However, they don't seem to care about punters snorting nose bag in the toilets.This place should be shut down

Today my son and I went into the bar area and walked through to the toilet. We were greeting by a very rude man that “this AINT a public toilet”. Firstly, it’s not the Ritz, secondly, we were actually going to stop and have a Coke and a juice after, thirdly I’m pregnant and my son is 7 years old. Bad. Will never step foot in that hole again

Good pub if your English it is one of the most racist pubs I have ever been in We was a group of 8 and 1 of us is Irish with a very strong accent he walked in first and was told they will not serve him as he was drunk we explained he was not drunk as we had just arrived in southend its just the way he talked someone in our group had bought a drink but they told us we had to leave and was very aggressive and rude about this and wouldn't refund our money for the drinks already bought when we started to get a bit aggressive back they didn't like this buy we was not just gonna take this blatant racism they we straight on to the southend security who came down and asked us to leave which we did we ended up in the hope and had a fantastic night would recommend that over this all day long would not step back in that place if you paid me

My sister had dropped me off near this pub for a look around the Southend shops, while she walked her dog on the beach. We had arranged she would pick me up 1.5 hours later. After about an hour I was back at this pub. So I Popped in for a pint of London Pride. Seems like a traditional old seaside drinking pub.. The beer was quite cloudy, but I was told it would settle, but it didn't. I was about to take it back, when my sister called to say she was done and ready to pick me up. So I never got to return my cloudy beer. Its a shame. But I will be sure to visit if I find myself near this pub again. A traditional boozer is a rare find these days.

Really good service. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They had a good choice of drinks at a good price. The pub itself was very clean and the toilets were super clean. Had a relaxing afternoon here with my brother playing pool. I noticed they also had a good darts area. The pool was only a pound what was fantastic. I will be returning.

We didn't eat here but spent 2 really fun nights. The live music was very good and a second karaoke night that everyone joined in. Loads of fun. Bar staff kind enough to offer house spirits as well as named brands.

To be honest I wasn’t sure when I walked in but actually it’s a lovely pub with lovely people. They look after their cask ale as the Doombar i had was as good as any I have had. They have special acts on such as drag shows plus karaoke. As a dry pub they don’t do food but they are more than happy for you to bring in fish and chips from next door. Again happy to recommend

Rude female staff member around late 20s, looks like there’s a few comments saying this. Outside of that, it’s a place to drink. Just don’t go while she’s on shift otherwise she’ll go crazy if you give her the wrong look or something

Me and my boyfriend came in here to have a few drinks and a few games of pool, while visiting Southend for the day. Staff were really nice and friendly. It was a lovey vibe in there for a Saturday night. By the pool table there was a picture on the wall i quite liked it. It was different, so had to share with you all.

Despite looking like a sawdust joint the drinks are reasonably priced despite being on the sea front the staff are friendly and well organised

We liked this pub. The landlady is very friendly and the prices are super reasonable in a great location. The loos are clean and they showed the lionesses semi final on their big TVs. They let our baby in, I felt comfortable to feed her there, they were just generally lovely people, and they had lots of soft drinks, coffee, etc.

Popped in here on Sunday, 5 adults and a baby in a pram. We were told straight away that no kids were allowed after 6pm, as it was 1.30 pm I couldnt understand her issue. She barked we can only sit in the pool table area. Ok we said politely and then she barked ' you are buying drinks aren't you?'. We said of course we are. ( I would have left but the others coaxed). We bought a round of drinks and asked for the pool cues. £5 deposit in cash was demanded (by this time I couldnt believe how someone so rude was working in customer service). We gave her £10 & she didn't want to give us the £5 back. We drank our drinks and left. The whole time we were in the pub only 1 other customer was in there!!!! I can see why.......

If I could give this please no stars I would. We decided to stop and have a drink outside but before we bought any drinks I needed to take one of my girls (with severe learning disabilities) to the toilet. The barman refused her using the toilet until we bought drinks. I said to him she needs to go, she has learning disabilities, he did not care, he still refused so I said fine, we’re take our business elsewhere.. absolutely disgusting service and no care or help.

Staff are friendly, polite and helpful got a play area at back for kids to play.

. no food available but was able to get food from outside and bring it in . Semi nice atmosphere but they was because of who we were with but it stank, and I mean stank of stale pee and was very dated. Very much stuck in the 1980's. Not somewhere I'd visit again

If I had the option to rate this 0 stars I would of done. We were served by someone who was extremely rude, no customer service skills. Even rolling there eyes when customers could clearly see! The place is run down and needs a good clean. Will definitely not be returning.

Stopped off on a Thursday evening seafront walk. The pub was empty which seems a shame as it's a decent venue. We sat outside and watched the usual quirky characters walk by!!

Bar staff could do with livening up...

Well, after years of trying to find a karaoke bar where you don't get judged too much, I think this might be the place! My son took us there on a Friday, and after a bit of liquid courage we all started singing (badly) and I'm happy to say most people sang with the same quality as us. Both staff and customers were friendly, and don't believe the stereotype of southend seafront being rough at night on a Friday, because it certainly wasn't for us. I would recommend giving it a go, and we'll definitely be going back.

AVOID this place.my friends went there for couple of bears, they had DJ there,so should be alright to have some fun.Instead they got beaten up for no reason.thats how they welcome you.the landlady is awful.

Would be quicker if 1 of the bar staff pulled just pints nonstop all night & the server's would only have to pass them to the punters. All in all a nice boozer.. 👍

Good old fashioned pub. No frills or fuss. Everything you want. Pool table, darts, garden outside. They even let you bring food in from nxt door. As they don't provide food. On our visit there was an 80's dj for the evening. And was very entertaining! Great night.

Clean, friendly, fairly priced. The landlady runs a tight ship.

I just dropped in for a drink. The staff were polite and attentive, polite, very friendly. Beer was well kept, and the place was clean. The locals were friendly, well worth a visit.

Standard issue Southend seafront pub. Certainly no thrills, plenty of room inside, or seating outside.

We just used the bar the staff were good They had a very good DJ playing old ska and Rega when we visited
