Aroma House in Southend-on-Sea

Got a takeaway. Roast pork fish was hard and almost inedible. Rest of good not great. Even the “free” fortune cookie wrapped in foil was soft. Waste of my £30 won’t eat ffem there again.

Just had delivery i never had such bad food. It was dry the duck full of fat the saty chicken was hard and old. The spare ribs had more fat on it than meat. Its a shame you can't put a picture up on here it would put you off.

I used to come here during my previous job's lunch break, and the food was good. However, over the years, it seems there has been a decline in quality. Items fried in oil now have a stale aftertaste (such as crispy seaweed, prawn crackers, and prawn toast). Additionally, the batter on the chicken balls isn't fully cooked, and the chicken in curry dishes has become rubbery. Thankfully, the rice and noodles remain good, but getting those right shouldn't be challenging.

I was not surprised that the food was delivered about 5 minutes late as the order was for over £100. Everyone enjoyed the food. Generous proportions and very tasty

Atrocious service both the owners are rude I stood there for 9minutes to place my order only to be told you can't order we're too busy with the drivers They've gone on holiday and no sign up telling customers NOT the way to run a business They score a minus on all aspects

Placed an order, order arrived on time but it was completely wrong they had given me someone else’s and given mine to that person. They promised they would make a fresh one and send it out. 10 minutes later they arrive with my order and take the old one away. Safe to say it wasn’t fresh as the chow Mein had been dipped into. Restaurant was rude will never ever eat here or recommend.

take away only really busy place food good a bit of a wait on delivery but as said really busy so understandble.

Ordered on a Friday evening. 40-60 minute wait was quoted. After 75 mins, attempted to call, several times!! NO ANSWER. Ended up having to drive down to the restaurant, to find the phone ringing off the hook and a lady sat next to it ignoring it?! When enquired about my food it was put through to the kitchen and cooked. Once returned home found items were missing, tried to call, but of course NO ANSWER. Gave up and ate what was in the bag. Paid a 2.5 delivery fee but had to collect, plus paid for food that was missing. Attempted to complain via email but far too painful. Gave up. Will never return here again.

Really lovely food. Order from their website rather thank giving fee to justeat. Their salt n pepper stuff is delicious, as is the chilli beef. Our go to Chinese.

I ordered this food and was expecting a normal Chinese. The sweet and sour prawn balls came in the sauce, not the sauce on the side. They were soggy and awful. The wraps for the half crispy duck we had were very dry and every single one split down the middle so it couldn’t be wrapped! I will never order from here again.

Bit pricey, but this is my favourite Chinese takeaway shop so far. Delicious!

I ordered from this place last night 13th May, french fries was cold and could have been cooked twice, mushroom curry was absolutely disgusting raw mushrooms and onions and a few frozen garden peas. The worst one was the pancake rolls which was packed out with bean sprouts and lumps of some sort of funky stuff which I spat out. They sent free prawn crackers and a small tub of brightly coloured congealed substance which I would never try. I'm avoiding this place.... WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY! Needless to say the whole lot ended up in the food waste bin.

On time. But Chips were cold, and the chicken balls were clearly made and frozen before hand... had that dry paste texture... 😖had to throw pretty much all of it in the bin.

I can't criticise the food as it's always been excellent, but I'm sitting here 2 1/2 hours after ordering and it still hasn't arrived. This is the third time this has happened to me after ordering from this place (I always think I'll give them another chance as the food is so good). When there's a long delay I try to ring, and often they don't answer. When they do, they just say another 15-20 minutes, and then it STILL doesn't arrive in that time. No apology, no discount, nothing. It's not fair on customers to do this.

Omg this place is soooooo nice!!! It’s a hidden gem, the cheesy chips are soooo nice they always get my order 100% right, and always piping hot! And as for the fries wings.... they’re the perfect combo on crunchy and meaty and flavoursome and delicious! My order was ready in 10 minutes, I couldn’t have asked for better service! And the men in the shop all so happy and smiley and approachable! Thanks guys

Disgusting attitude to customers , disgusting food.. Instead of special chow main came plain one.. And lady on the phone been so rude to me! Horrible service!

To be honest I was not very impressed with the service provided by just eat and Aroma House. We placed an order on just eat at just before 5pm (cash on delivery - perhaps like the comment below we are fraudsters). I received a confirmation email stating that the food would be delivered around 6 pm. Well 50 minutes after 6 and still nothing. We then called the takeaway to find out where the food is and they said that they hadn't received the order. Not only was this bad enough but there was no intention from them to allow us to order our food over the phone or even perhaps some buisness to customer courtesy of 'we are sorry this has happened, we will get it to you as soon as we can'. They just put the phone down on us. I just wish I had read the comments from other customers who have had a similar awful experience, as I would have ordered elsewhere originally.

My original delivery time was at 19:20 and still hasn't turned up at 20:40 and every time I try ring they never answer

Just ordered from Just eat, food came quickly and was very tasty. We even received free fortune cookies. We highly recommend and will definitely order from them again.

First time I went I ordered online to pay when I picked my food up, got a time but it wasn't ready, the second time was very good food lovely and it was ready on time the last time I went I had the same problem, the lady said she thought I was a fake order because I didn't pay online, they rushed the order and it tasted odd. Not happy with the excuses, when you order online you have to out your details etc so if I was a fake order surely they can call. Won't go there again.

food is absolutely delicious. i always end up with oily food when i go to other restaurants but that's not the case with aroma house! full of flavour and very healthy. new fav and will definitely be ordering from them again.

Perfect every time. Tasty, hot, delivered so so quickly and sometimes they throw in freebies. I won’t go anywhere else. Only decent Chinese around nowadays.

I was SO shocked to see such few and not good reviews about this take away that I feel compelled to share my recent experience. Popped in early Saturday, wanted to order a meal for two. Seemed to make sense to order the set meal. Granted it was the more expensive ( £11 per head) but I liked what it was offering. The meal was probably one of the best set meals I have ever had (There's normally one dish you get - that you can take or leave). We had plenty to eat before we went out - and came back and polished off what was left. I live about 5 miles from this restaurant - but will happily drive to eat from here again.

When you order King Prawns with spring onions and ginger you expect to get spring onions. But it is filled with normal onions and over cooked more like a mush. When you call the manager who I can only describe as rude laughs at you on the phone and says that king prawns with spring onions does not have spring onions in it. I would suggest that environmental health may want to pay a visit as the onions were obviously reheated and over cooked. Don’t know if under new management but lost a regular customer now.

I have used this Chinese regularly for 6 years Since the young lady left who was dealing with orders the new Manager as she calls herself is absolutely awful bad attitude and rude . I was delivered a awful meal , i wasn't refunded or apologised to . When it was finally sorted out they only refunded the cost of two mains not the full order . I then ordered again the food was lovely no issue LAST NIGHT AT 10.30 I RANG FOR A DELIVERY SHE REFUSED TO TAKE MY ORDER FOR DELIVERY SHE REFUSED TO TAKE MY ORDER FOR COLLECTING SHE WAS RUDE SHE WAS ACTUALLY QUITE NASTY THIS MANAGER HAS NO RESPECT FOR HER CUSTOMERS AT ALL FOOD ALLERGIES AND FOOD INTOLERANCES ARENTTO BE LAUGHED AT THINK TWICE BEFORE ORDERING FROM HERE

We used to order sooooo much from this place but then it had hair in it so we stopped, today there was no decent Chinese open so Second time we ordered food from aroma house in Southend and second time had hair in it, how absolutely disgusting, when we tried asking for refund the lady got really rude although we said the whole food is here and they can collect. So unhappy with the service! Then the Chinese man turns up at our doorstep being really rude returning only £10! RIDICILOUS, hate it never will I go back and never would I recommend

Excellent food and not a long wait for a Saturday night.

All take outs have good and bad days.... But even on their bad days their food is still very good! The only problem sometimes is that there so very busy... But that's only because it's so good! Staff are always wonderful as well.

Just had order from aroma house , ordered a king prawn in satay sauce , was not what I ordered the sauce was water with curry powder and learnt they cook there meals in batches from what the person was saying to me on the phone . Always thought Chinese would be cooked fresh but this Chinese does not , rude members of staff , putting phone down after complaining about a meal not doing anything to reassure you . BAD customer service

Aroma is my favourite Chinese and I order from here frequently but unfortunately that will no longer be the case after the shocking service we received this evening. 4 of us ordered and the BIRTHDAY girl received two rice instead of beef curry and rice (which had been paid for)after bringing it to the staffs attention we wete told that the curry was being sent out and would be with us shortly, half an hour later we rang again to be told that we had already received our order despite the error being bought to their attention and the fact we was provided with an apology and promise that dish was on its way. We was denied being able to speak to a manager and repeatedly had the phone hung up on us which was extremely rude and unprofessional. During numerous attempts to resolve the issue, a refuned was denied and eventually a curry was sent out well over an hour after everyone else had eaten (with out another rice dish) as you can imagine the rice dish received over an hour prior which was to accompany the the curry was cold. The delivery driver was very apologetic and I appreciate that this takeaway appeared to be very busy but is no excuse for the shocking and out right disgustingly rude service we received. The fact we was celebrating a birthday and it was the birthday girls meal that was not received makes the situation worst. If you care about your food showing up or would not be happy to pay for something you don’t receive my advice would be to avoid!!

I find most Chinese takeaways the same but this is the one we use the most.

Good customer service to rectify initial mistake. Collected meal but once home found a veg curry contained a different meat dish in error. Quick call and they delivered new one while others were still hot. Excellent. Food was great too. :-)

Love this place its my new chinese take away! It was closed on wednesday and i went to another chinese very very close to this one and it was horrible lol couldnt wait until thursday to go aroma house again! The sweet and sour chicken hong kong style is spot on!

Delicious food I was passing this place once and I decided to pop and take away some food. Was positively surprised that they have so delicious food. Would definitely come back and of course would recommend for anyone who like Chinese food. Spring rolls delicious and so big! King prawn rice noodles and chicken Hong Kong style - best in Southend-On-Sea xx

I have been getting Chinese takeaway from Aroma House for about a year now and the food has never disappointed. Always fresh, hot and ready when they say to collect. Staff are always friendly and able to help. A family business with a spotless establishment. Only downside is that now every Chinese takeaway is compared to Aroma house and very few have equalled it for service, food and value for money.

Just had a really great meal, we decided to try a set meal for a change it was so nice .would definitely recommend Aroma House

This was the most disgusting Chinese I've ever had could only eat a little bit, the curry sauce was very oily for my liking and didn't taste very nice.

The BEST Chinese food I've ever had! NOT swimming in grease like some ... in fact far from it! Very, very tasty food at very reasonable price's with a great service from ordering on the phone to delivery. I can not recommend this place enough. The only downside is I can only give them five stars because there aren't anymore available! First class.....!
