Shabash in Southend-on-Sea

I've been visiting Shabash's for years, and it’s always a delightful experience. The fine dining atmosphere is complemented by the warm welcome from the staff—unless you happen to arrive at closing time, of course! I was recommended the Dansak with garlic bread, and I have to say, it was one of the best curries I've had in a long time. I went with a few friends, and we all enjoyed our meals but the drinks didn’t quite hit the mark, the owner graciously took them off our bill, which was a nice touch. The bald waiter is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about allergies, so you can order with confidence. There used to be a tall waiter, but I haven't seen him in a while. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant; it's a fantastic value for the money, and the experience is top-notch!

Won’t order from anywhere else it’s the best curry I have ever had no matter what one I get! Definitely worth the wait and I always recommend to friends and family. Thank you for always providing delicious tasty food x

Food was 30 mins late, after already waiting 1 hour (for a small order of x2 curries, x1 rice and x2 side dishes). When arrived, chicken korma sauce was practically water and all food was cold and had to be reheated in microwave. Won’t be ordering again. Shame as always good service in house.

We really had a great time here sadly they throw away the left overs when we clearly ask for them to be packed to go twice 😢 Lots of comments mention that the food isn't good and I don't understand we found it very delicious Maybe it is something to do with deliveries but on our occasion we dined in and it was all very good. Best Indian in Leigh by a mile. I have tried many indians in town. This place is by far the best. Best service, amazing food and great value.

Obviously the dregs from the pan at the end of the evening. Dry chicken, shrivelled spinach but loads of rice to make up for it. A revolting take out. Will never use this restaurant again.

Not great. In a party of 5, none of us said our meals were particularly great, one of which had to go back. Combined with the cost at £40 pp with only one round of beers didn't make it likely we will be returning soon.

Shabash has been our ‘go to’ for Indian takeaways for quite some time. We usually order directly from the restaurant over the phone and the delivery has always been within the time frame and the food is good. They are also very accommodating and will tweak a dish (e.g to make it veggie friendly) or come up with helpful suggestions when looking for inspiration. Usually I give them 5 stars, but recently some of the dishes ( jalfrezi, samosas) have been very peppery to the point they were inedible. Possibly a new/different chef? I’m hoping it’s temporary as we’ve always enjoyed our food up to now.

the worst place I ever seen in my life. the food was sheet and the owner behave to the customer is so disappointing . Before go there plz think about. And they Don't respect the customer opinion😥 I gave the feedback in facebook page but they remove my account😥 i's so disrespectfull for all the customer. Great food with some different house specials available. Staff are friendly and helpful. We ate in but take away great too.

First time we have gotten a takeaway from here and we won’t order again. The food tasted ok but the chicken was chewy, there was only 5 bits of it and only 4 small potatoes in the sag aloo

Mulligatawny soup was so tasty and the mint dips were just so perfect. Everything was great and as always a great selection of desserts.

I was offered to have it slightly hotter by the very friendly staff, they even look after our snooker cues and kept mine for over a week when I forgot I had left it. Puree bread is now a must, and the onion bhajees are crisp and dry. Had a fish dish last time and I there was so much fish that I couldn't finish it. Thank you Shabash. Several return visits later..update. It has been a pleasure to try different dishes and strengths of dishes. All meals have been fantastic

First time at the restaurant food wasn’t very nice no flavour service wasn’t great also.

The food is astonishingly cooked to perfection. The service was welcoming and I enjoyed eating it with my parents and brother. Highly recommend you check this place out. Food is filling and worth the money for sure.

Saw a post on facebook about their Thali dinner on Tuesdays and Thursdays and thought I would give it a go. Haven’t been to the restaurant for a couple of years for no reason but will certainly be back a lot quicker than that!!!! Food was brilliant, staff were lovely and I thought it was great value. Nice to try foods that maybe you wouldn’t normally order. Highly recommend!

Brilliant dinner spot, would recommend to all! The naan bread was incredible and the atmosphere was brilliant, no better Indian in Leigh…I take that back, in the world.

Possibly the best Indian I’ve ever had ! Really tasty

So, I deliver to over 70 indian themed eateries , only a few of which are actually run by Indians , I can tell you that after eating at some time or other in all but 4 of them that this restaurant in NO WHERE near of high standard . Firstly , its not clean at all , many very unclean scruffy delivery drivers hanging around the kitchen and eating in front of customers, not nice. Certain areas smelled of over powering bleach but no sign of a clean up. NOW THE FOOD , I know my foods and qualities and can honestly tell you this place is at the lower end with borderline edible foods hidden behind run of the mill flavourings so the standard stuff but not the best . The food tasted all the same even though we had a varied order , even the shaslick was watery and had no real taste. The drinks were served in the basic glasses and could tell they were of poor quality. To sum up, id sooner pay more money for quality food than a lot of money for bad quality foods . I would not return and could not recommend .These are my honest findings of this eatery .

The main reason I order from here is because they do fish dishes. Unfortunately they sent chicken tikka instead of fish tikka. Slightly disappointed this time.

Food is great here and the service was good. The staff know what can be made vegan and what cannot. Everyone really enjoyed the meal. This is the 2nd time we have been back and will visit again. Go to for vegans that want an indian curry.

Food cold and not cooked properly

Unfortunately my order was not great. The chicken tikka masala was very watery and lacked taste and chicken itself tasted like charcoal. Also butter chicken was poor very oily. Usually great food from here but very disappointed with my order tonight.

As usual food was excellent 👌🏽. We all love it , from juicy meat to grill chicken and special dishes … highly recommended to everyone you wont be disappointed. Thanks bro for the extras

Best takeaway curry I’ve had! Naan was so buttery and delicious. Mushroom rice tasted so fresh!! So brilliant! Would recommend.

Enjoyed the food. Price was right. Went there on a Sunday evening and it wasn't busy. Drinks served too. Bangladeshi restaurant serving Indian inspired cuisine. I'd recommend for a nice evening. Parking available in a lot not far away from the restaurant and close to shops and the beach.

Once again they’ve forgotten the mango chutney and popodoms were over cooked and missing 2 popodoms

What the hell?? Your hotel accepted my order on uber eats and i was waiting patiently and when i called you at 10.45 pm your representatives said it will take 15 minutes now its 11.42 and where is my food?

New to the area, thought we’ll give Shabash a try. Excellent choice! They do things differently here as I have tried a few in the area. This place is definitely a cut above the rest. Their food is excellent but their service and atmosphere is incredible, which is rare in Indian restaurants nowadays. Think we’ve found our regular!

The naans were burnt and very soggy and all the filling were to one side (maybe different tandoori chef )popodom were over cooked and broken

Ordered 2 mango chantey but only got 1!! Also chilli pickle was full of oil !! Hopefully better next time I guess

Love shabash food is always good One suggestion is to remove dishes that you no longer offer off the menu as its disappointing when you order and it's no longer available Lots of different dishes that aren't on your traditional menu which is great Staff helpful and friendly Would recommend

This place is amazing. Went here with family after being recommended by friends. I must say it is by far the best Indian in town. Not just the food, but the level of service and general hospitality received was incredible. The staff were also very knowledgeable and helpful with our requirements.

Lovely indian restaurant. One of the best in my opinion. Their lamb chops are to die for. Iv had lamb chops in other restaurants and they are either too thin and crispy or too dry and tough, but these guys have got it spot on! Cant wait for next time!

Went here for a family meal and was greeted by wonderful staff. A great atmosphere and superb food. We all loved it and will definitely be back soon!

1st time visiting tonight and found not only the food fantastic but the staff. From when we arrived to when we left, the staff were conscience of my friends allergies and made changes to support this, the portion sizes were more than adequate and the food was served on pipping hot plates. We did not feel rushed or disturbed when eating. Thank you for a lovely evening and lovely food.

Hate to say this as food is pretty good and staff are lovely but tables are set out so table for two is stuck between large capacity tables. Trying to hold a conversation on your date night when your surrounded by really loud , lively groups of people defeats the object of going out. Ruined the whole evening for us. Paid bill in full, with tip but left before finishing. They were aware of the surrounding noise when taking our order because it was difficult for them to hear what we were ordering. I am only putting this in writing because when we got up to leave i tried to explain to the waiter what the problem was with table but he really didn't understand. Arrived 7ish and it was still day light, not use to this as lighting is low in this restaurant, but it meant you could see all the old stains on the brown napkins. They were clean but not nice seeing so many stains created by other customers on them.

I recently visited Shabash Indian restaurant in Leigh-on-sea with three friends and I must say, it was an outstanding experience! The service was second to none, and the staff were extremely attentive and eager to make sure our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. The food was truly authentic and absolutely delicious! The variety of dishes on the menu was impressive, and we were spoiled for choice. I would highly recommend trying out some of their specialties, as they are absolutely delicious. However, be warned, the Naga Wings are incredibly spicy, so only opt for them if you can handle the heat! The staff were superb, friendly and willing to answer any questions we had regarding the menu. It was great to see the passion they had for their work and it reflected in the quality of service we received. Overall, Shabash Indian restaurant is a hidden gem in Leigh-on-sea. The service is fantastic, the food is authentic and delicious, and the staff are exceptional. I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience.

Awful Rice was freezing cold so couldn’t eat it Curry was spicy, even though I ordered a masala couldn’t eat it The naan bread was also unedible as was just too spicy. Saag paneer was terrible. Waste of money as couldn’t eat. Will not be ordering again

Just over 2 hours for delivery. Our order was marked as delivered on Just Eat, but it hadn't been. We rang the restaurant and it hadn't even left. Another 10 minutes before it arrived. Honesty would go a long way.

Appreciate it’s Saturday eve but almost a 2 hour wait for 2 dishes was a bit much. Food was also tasted a little watered down, and not as enjoyable as normal.

Sides were tasty and great nan bread. The quality of the meat was fantastic however the curry itself lacked flavour. Underwhelming given the price and that it's from a restaurant.

Food is really tasty and fresh ! I have ordered second time now . Had deferent dishes and they all good ,including lamb chops !:D. The only thing is , food arriving not very hot … Very happy with the taste , will be ordering again . Oh and the staff are very polite over the phone and during delivery .

I was there when I Sinclair and his groups altercation happened with my fiancee and totally agree with I Sinclair's review and accont of what happened. We left as as soon as possible after this, felling threatened buy the 'regulars' with the animosity and threat of violence to the grouo and ourselves. Avoid at all costs! This is not a place to dine!

What a night! I recommended this restaurant to a group of freinds. We went for a meal and the service was very slow. We eventually got our food on cold plates and complained again. Warm plates were provided and we ate our meal which tasted good. When we came to pay we were offered a 10% discount for the bad service. We excepted the discount and paid and went to leave. A table of "regulars" took offence to our complaints and told us to leave or they would take action. Apparently the threat of physical violence to our whole group was considered the norm for customers who complain. I do not recommend this establishment and will not be eating there again!!

I placed order early to be delivered at 8pm it came late. The food tasted poor very disappointed won’t be ordering again.

Best indication of a good restaurant is how they deal with blips. Excellent customer service, excellent fresh tasting food. Damaged desert items (in transit) were replaced promptly with apology. We really enjoyed our meal thank you!

Went here with my friend for a pre Christmas catch up. The food was very good and the service was great. The reason I won't give a 5 Star review is due to the fact that the restaurant was full of big groups of men who were obviously very loud. We couldn't hear ourselves think! The staff were shouting at the top of their lungs to serve these groups too which just magnified it all. I guess a curry house isn't the best place to catch up just before Christmas for two women who want a nice relaxing meal, not a rowdy pub atmosphere restaurant. Overall, I recommend this restaurant for the food.
