After reading the awards that this place had won I thought I'd give it a go seeing as we live close-by. Big mistake, I ordered a sost aluoo which had a sliced potato, slice of tomato (seriously) and a couple of chewy bits of lamb in a sauce which was absolutely tasteless. The onion bajis were burnt, cold and against tasteless and the chips something I wouldn't dish up to a dog. This was by far the worst curry I've ever had the misfortune to eat and I suggest you think hard before ordering from this place.

Pictures are deceiving, food was tasteless and of poor quality. Not cooked and smelt weird. Order was completely wrong. One curry paste for chicken, fish and lamb. Rip off and would recommend to stay away from this place. All the food was put in the bin.

Sorry but that was the most tasteless dansak I've ever had!! Onion bhagis the size of golf balls and a thimble of mint sauce, no ta!

We order from chilli green quite often but tonight our order was not as nice, the onion Bhaji tasted earthy not sure if some of the ingredients had been changed but was quite disappointing, the rest of the meal was not bad my only gripe is they need to have a option to remove the nasty tomato from the mains, other than that a lovely meal

Portions are very small - just two mini two samosas, onion bajis Cost is high. Lamb Madras didn't taste like lamb and was very salty. Peshwari Naam tasted weird. Paneer/Mushroom rice was ok, the best things were the chana masala and sag aloo which were very enjoyable. Meal took ages to be delivered.

Meal was two hours late. We order weekly and the cutover service was rude and obnoxious- only told by the delivery driver that food was missing after calling the restaurant twice. Treated as if unreasonable when calling to find out where the order was and when complaining. Ruined a family birthday dinner! Won’t be returning you’ve lost our long standing business

First time ordering as Amina has closed and trying to find a good alternative in the area. Food was ok but mint sauce sour and tangy tasting compared to others

Thought we’d give this a try as from the description the place sounds great! All we could all taste (considering we all had different curries +naans) was lemon. But to the point that the food was actually unpleasant. No option for a part refund or anything and £80 worth of unfinished food due to the bitter taste of the food unfortunately won’t be coming here again 🥲

The peshwari naan went in the bin it had a funny taste to it the keema rice was nice ! And the korma was funny tasting also not for me ! Chicken was tender and food was delivered hot but won't be back.

Tandoori chicken starter was just a plain leg of chicken, no spice marinade or anything. Very strange. Peshwari nan was a bit doughy and not very sweet. It was more salty than anything. Tarka Dal and special rice were good though, and fast delivery.

Yesterday food was not so great. Other times was so much more better, so I was a little disappointed 😥.

After being recommended this restaurant and having high hopes extremely disappointed. Meat very tough and swimming in oil - will not be using again and regret listening to the recommendation as ruined my Saturday night family meal.

The meal was delicious and very hot when delivered by a very pleasant delivery person. Exemplary customer service was demonstrated when there was an issue with order and the establishment rang for permission to make a slight change before sending it out and also kept us updated through the app. Full marks therefore for everything. This was our first order from this establishment and based this experience we will be making many more.

£30 for two. Arrived 40 minutes late. Both curries not what we ordered. Nan bread was thin & in bits. Onion bhajis overcooked. Chips stuck together & everything cold apart from the curries. Ordered from just eat, who wouldn't let me leave a review.

Never give bad reviews but the food didn't turn up. We waited for over 2 1/2 hours as we believed them when we phoned after an hour and they said it would be coming. Really terrible service - and they took the phone off the hook to avoid further calls. Would give zero if possible.

Food never arrived, we waited over 3 hours then drove up ourselves and it STILL wasn't ready Took them another 30 minutes to then cook it They disconnect the phone so you can't call, unprofessional Apparently there's only 2 members of staff Absolutely useless Overpriced even before all the other mistakes

The lamb tikka main (£9) consisted of 5 chewy bits of lamb and some dried up salad, and the curry was greasy. Have used chilli green for years but it’s gone downhill. Really disappointed

Food was terrible, ordered bhuna, korma, saag paneer, prawn puri, onion Bhajis, coconut rice and egg rice, I tried the bhajis coconut rice, korma, saag, and puri and after trying a couple mouthfuls I couldn’t eat any of it. Timing for delivery was great and I have to say we did also order naan breads which I enjoyed, my partner enjoyed his bhuna as well

Had to leave our regular=- local Indian because of the decline in food quality, mainly the excessive Ghee/oil used. So just passing Chilli Green on a Sunday I thought I'd try it out. The owner and chef Sham was very friendly. I ordered a Lamb Dansak, rice naan and Sag aloo.... This dish had almost zero oil/ghee in it and was delicious. Lamb tender and sag aloo was great. Will definitely be returning. One other thing I should mention. While waiting I dropped my wallet on the sofa. This was spotted by a very kind and extremely honest lady delivery driver. Sham and this lady ensured that it was returned to me. Which I am extremely grateful for. Give Chilli green a try I thoroughly recommend it.

Food was a little bland, vindaloo was not particularly spicy and didn't resemble any other vindaloo I have had anywhere. Bhajis were in the same container as the meat starters so were soggy

Bland, supposed to be fresh ingredients but very little evidence of any herbs, zero spice in my deshi korai.

The food was very nice. I would say that you could go a little spicier on the vindaloo, but the taste was great. The masala and korma were a little sweeter than we are used to from other restaurants, but still tasty. Everything else was delicious. I don’t normally like Bombay potatoes but I enjoyed these.

But we got a text. It wasa Saturday night so we knew they'd be busy. When the food arrived it was piping hot and freshly cooked. Absolutely worth the small delay

I don't often write reviews but on this occasion I have, as credit where credit is due. My wife and i hadn't ordered from this establishment before and we threw caution to the wind to try them, we are so glad that we did. We both had the same (chicken tikka and rice) plus sharing the "extras". The chicken tikka was plentiful and tender, we were also pleased as we were able to order onion rice (not all establishments offer it) as for the onion bhaji, when we order from our usual place, we usually receive two enormous ones as a "portion" - this time we received four pieces - each piece was roughly the size of a golf ball, which we thought was a better idea, as it still amounted to the same. The naan bread was cooked just how we like it too and the mushroom bhaji and bombay potatoes were also up to our expectations. It arrived on time too (withing five minutes of estimated delivery time) and the delivery lady was pleasant and cheery, even on a relly cold night ! We will definitely be ordering again from here in the future.

I ordered a chicken dansak and chicken korma I've never had such a bad curry in all my life. You could ask an Eskimo who's never had a curry in there life to cook for you and it would have turned out better than what ordered. the tough chicken and bland taste of the dansak was just hot with no sweetness and less said about the chicken korma the better. The chicken korma was brown not the normal nice yellow colour it looked and tasted like a Madras with a bit of coconut in it. do yourself a favour and order from any of the other Indians in Southend they will be better than green chilli

Usually very good food from here but the latest one was a disappointment. Had a funny taste to it and I threw it away. Has put me off a tad.

We have eaten from Chilli Green for a while now and it's always been fantastic. Unfortunately, this time was not the case. The butter chicken was too sweet, the madras was way too hot, the tikka lamb was very tough and the paratha was undercooked. Not sure if it was another chef or a bad night, but it was disappointing.

Very sweet sauces, expensive, no extras like poppadom, not impressed for the cost, will say chicken tender

BIG MISTAKE I had Gost Aloo with mushroom rice. (3 chiili rating) Ha Ha, yeah right, Ive had hotter plain mashed potato. I kid you not. I didnt expect it to be as hot as Naga or phal, but i did expect it to at least have seen a chili, it clearly had not. Ok, now i understand times are hard for local takeaway shops but cutting back on ingredients in a dish just drives customers away. The contents of my main dish, a piece of potato the size of a very small chip and 5 pieces of lamb the size of a sugar cube (well 4.5 really), swimming in a herby gravy (not unpleasant to tast), but herby, not spicy 🙁 The mushroom rice was completely tasteless and the bombay aloo that came with it was just boiled potato Altogether a very bland disappointing culinary experience and EXTREAMLY POOR VALUE FOR MONEY I will not use them again The only + was prompt delivery

The food is always so fresh and boiling hot. Meat is so tender and the flavours are so delicious. The staff are incredibly friendly and so very helpful. I won't order from anywhere else now. Cannot fault the food or the people

Usually fine from here but tonight the rice was stodgy and overcooked and the curry was bland, like a plain gravy. Very disappointed as I waited ages for it to arrive and it wasn’t very nice sadly.

We ordered 1 popadom, we received a broken one which wouldnt even mind but this was not even a full one when pieced together…the popadom tasted stale or made in old oil possibly. Pilau rice was not fluffy and cooked properly and was mushy. We order alot of takeaways and finally thought should give this place a go but it just wasnt for us..

If I could give more than 5 stars I would I put down it was my 30th birthday and they sent me a complementary strawberry ice-cream and it made my evening a little kindness goes a long way! Great food as always too and delivery!

Just had take away veg korma and coconut rice. So bad I had to chuck it it all tasted vinegary and off I feel sick. Rice didn't taste of coconut at all and I'm sure the potatos were off in it absolutely disgusting!!!

The food was of very poor quality. Had chicken chaat from many places, it's supposed to be a hot zesty chicken with cucumber and tomatoes served on a chapatti. This restaurant serves a plain skewer chicken on a onion basic sauce and no chapatti. This is not the chicken chatt! Also the egg fried rice was mushy and plain like cooked by a beginner and did not even have a bit of green onion or coriander or any bit of green as it's usually served. The bombay potatoes tasted of nothing but aniseed. Very sickly. And to top it up it was all very expensive for below average food. You should definitely review your food quality!

Disgusting service and will never use them ago, also it isn't cheap and we paid for delivery!!!

Our food was late so we called the restaurant & they told us that they still had the order with them but it wouldn’t be long. Another 15 mins passed & we called again, still with no food, and was told that the order was ready & just waiting for a driver. The gentleman on the phone then suggested we come & collect the order, as it would be better & quicker that way. Collected order, food was cold & part of our order was wrong. Very disappointed!

The food is excellent it'll bring happiness in your body. I ordered a curry with a size of ice cream. As I called the restaurant the food came immediately within minutes. The manager on the phone was so soft at heart, and made sure my needs we're met . I would highly recommend.

Negatives first.. Tiny samosas that were cold. Delivery an hour late. Positives. Possibly the best tasting main dishes I have eaten in 30 years. Authentic, tasty, full of flavour and clearly made with passion.. Will use again but please sort delivery time and make bigger home made samosas.

Did not live up to all the hype, was expecting more from all the advertising. Nice,bit not worth three and a half hour wait for delivery.

We love leaving positive reviews for local restaurants but this is the first time I have ever had to leave a 1/5 review for food quality in the all the years of being on justeat. To start the interesting looking battered chicken tikka starter on the menu wasn’t battered at all and just dry chicken tikka. The Shashlik special was the same dry chicken tikka again with 1 small piece of pineapple in the carton. My wife’s chicken tikka masala was like sugar water. The texture / colour and taste was so off she couldn’t even eat it. We were really excited about trying this restaurant tonight but I’m really not sure what happened tonight.

Very disappointed with the meal, does not represent value for money. A meal for two cost nearly £50 and we thought it was worth a try for the best take away in Southend and the best curry in England! For us it was the worst meal and it was 40 minutes late!

After hearing about the chef getting an award we thought we would try. The chicken was dry, even drenched in the masala which was OK. There were also about 5 bits of chicken, so not very generous either. The khorma was OK but have had better elsewhere. The cheese naan had no cheese and was just a lump of dry dough. Won't ever be ordering from here again.

Bland food. Korma did not look look or taste like a korma. I’m not sure what they put in this dish but It was the worst curry I’ve ever tasted. Other curries were also bland. I would not order from them again until the recipes are improved. Saying that the correct food was delivered and on time. Staff were friendly, it’s just some of the ingredients of the dishes need improving/changing to improve the texture/flavour.

My order was an hour and fifteen minutes late. When i rang to enquire where my order was the msn I spoke to at the takeaway shop was extremely rude & slammed the phone down. I will never order from there again!

Ordered at 7 didn’t arrive until nearly 9.30. Waiting over 2 and half hours is not good enough even if you are really busy. Asked for some money back but restaurant has refused which is really disappointing. Food was nice though, but would be reluctant to order again as service was poor.

The food was nice but was 20min late and I found a quite large piece of wood/bark in it. Not happy at all.

Ordered chicken tikka Jalfrezi, the chicken was dry and poor quality. The curry was hot but no flavour. Keema Nan had no taste, pilau rice was under cooked. Poppadoms were fresh and the chicken pakoras were ok.

First time ordering, waited over 1hour 30mins. Chicken Tikka mains had 5 small pieces of chicken nothing else included, large rice was same size as normal rice.. naan was soggy. Disappointed.

We ordered a takeaway on Sunday 17th October. Once ordered and paid for, we were then told by email that it would be 9.30pm when it was to be delivered. This was unacceptable and too late for our three children to eat, and so I rang the restaurant to cancel the order and get a refund. However the restaurant was engaged and both numbers and impossible to contact on either number. I spoke in the chat on the website and they said that they weren't able to cancel the order, we'd need to ring the restaurant, which I did do every few minutes, all to no avail. i emaild the restaurant to cancel Unbelievably, the food did not arrive until 10.30pm, three hours after I ordered

Disappointed as we have used chilli green a lot and alway been happy, food wasn’t as good as it usually is today and 3 HOURS LATE !!!

I actually don’t know where to start on this review . Went here for the first time as it has a restaurant guru award we’ll more fool me ! I’d give it the worst Indian take away award if it was me. A little review on our £45 meal I ordered tonight , The starter was king prawn puri an over sweet sauce with no depth or flavour and 4 prawns .. Main course again dry chicken and a sauce you could have had as a pudding as it must have had soo much sugar added , Naan bread and puri so under cooked it couldn’t be eaten , mango chutney and onion Bhajis I personally think I could’ve got better from a ready meal . Wish I had read reviews and not wasted my money or had such a dire meal .

First time ordering and glad I did. The spinach rice and tikka jalfrezi was so tasty, loads of flavour, deffo recommend… good level of spice, chunky sauce as it should be. The chicken was big chunks and cooked really well. Onion salad, lime pickle etc all fresh tasting & yum. Partner had a korma as he can’t handle spice lol and said it was also delicious, definitely order again, thank you

We were told it had been delivered online but it hadnt. Couldnt get through to restaurant so went in person and restaurant was in chaos. We were still charged for delivery and had to wait another 30 minutes in restaurant. Some of the dishes did not fit the descriptions (e.g. spicy when they were bland) and the quality overall was mediocre.

Ordered at 6.05pm, thankfully paying by card didn't work so was paying cash, at 9.10pm still not here. Phone permanently engaged and website now says closed. Thought we would try this place due to the award but think we will stick with what we know. Very disappointing.
