Winter walk by the river, springtime ramble around Grantchester, lazy summer stroll in the meadows... any time is a great time to stop at the Blue Ball. Bring the dog, get a seat by the fire! Recharge on hearty, homemade fare. If God is an Englishman, this may be his favourite pub. The Blue Ball is exactly how a pub should be. Genuine welcome from a genuine publican. No bookings but other newfangled type places are available but you'd probably prefer to be in the Blue Ball. Cheers :-)

Having enjoyed dining here on numerous occasions over the years, I had no hesitation in choosing The Three Horseshoes in Madingley, to host a lunch for 24 friends and family, to celebrate my 80th birthday. Thanks entirely to Rachel Kipping and her colleagues we had an amazing time! Our lunch was simply superb with plenty of choice to suit all tastes, backed up with super efficient table service. Overall, it was a most enjoyable and memorable occasion. Thank you Rachel and Team for your sterling efforts which are much appreciated!

Fantastic Thai food. A simple pub with a nice atmosphere. Not grand but with a lovely information fireplace and some comfy sofas. Lots of different areas. Jeremy the host was friendly but I doubt that he would take any nonsense! We loved it and will be back.

I had an incredible experience at The Rupert Brooke . The food was absolutely delicious — beautifully presented and full of flavor. Such a lovely atmosphere. We went for my dad’s birthday, Pask and his team went above and beyond. Highly recommend this gem for anyone wouldn’t go anywhere else! My favourite place

We called in here after walking around the village on Thursday 20 March. It was so sunny and pleasant that we ended up having drinks outside taking in the quiet peaceful atmosphere. The service and drinks were simply superb and we could not fault the location or the stunning building. We had thought of booking up a table in here for the evening as we were staying close by in Barton. However after looking at the menu on offer we really just could not get that inspirational vibe as the menu was not what we would have liked. Anyway I am sure it will be perfect for many others but it just was not nice for us.

Lovely food and staff however we were very disappointed to find a service charge on the bill and although it says discretionary, it would be embarrassing to ask them to remove it . Tips should be giving freely not be part of the bill. we won’t go again

Our over night stay The White Horse in Barton Cambridgeshire. After phoning in the late afternoon, the owner booked us a room in the pub, he said as it was last minute the room was not warm yet, but he said it be ready when we would arrive, and it was. We had a very warm welcome enjoyed a glass of wine and a couple of pints of Timothy Taylor bitter, wonderful quality. Jeremy the owner made as feel at ease. We had been here before about a year ago and thoroughly enjoyed the pub.

This cafe used to be a favourite of mine for lunch with friends. Today it was a total disappointment. The menu offerings were poor. The burgers we ordered were described as being in brioche bread. They were in common white bread burger buns. My prawn sandwich with crisps was in very thick white bread, no butter and far too much corse ground black pepper in the shrimps masquerading as prawns. The crisps were actually tortilla chips which I dislike. I was not offered the choice to have or not have butter. I am careful how much bread I eat and could not eat this thick bread. The burgers my husband and friend had were also over seasoned with black pepper. Sorry we will not be lunching there again. Everything looked over cooked. Even the scones looked overcooked and unappetising. The lady taking orders looked so miserable, was not at all friendly. She dumped cutlery and glass on the counter. I was only given a fork to eat the salad on my plate. It was very expensive with my sandwich priced at £9.50. The burgers @ £14.50 each. Lunch for two with a coffee and Coke drink was over £35. No reduction offered when the staff were made aware of how awful it was.
