Lovely pub/restaurant friendly staff but the Sunday roast was not good I had beef which was very tough roast potatoes wasn’t cooked and the fried kale didn’t go with a roast in my opinion my husband had belly pork the skin on the pork should be like cracking but is was very fatty and soft The manager was understanding and our bill was £90 we paid half £45 he said we was the only people to complain he served 200 dinner Don’t know if I’m fussy but not a good roast in my opinion

I previously rated this restaurant as one of the best dining experiences in Cambridgeshire, unfortunately, things have changed drastically. Once a hidden gem offering authentic, memorable cuisine, it has now leaned into a generic “modern Italian” trend that feels forced and unnecessary (why!?). The unique vibe and quality The Rupert Brooke once had have now been replaced with average, overpriced dishes that lack the authenticity that made this place special. The atmosphere also felt uncomfortable, with young/unprepared staff hovering too closely throughout the evening. It’s disappointing to see The Rupert Brooke lose its identity.

Very impressed with the food. Service was mediocre. Amongst a few small other inconveniences, the waiter split our bill incorrectly and proceeded to overcharge us. All the food was so fresh and flavourful, the waiters and waitresses were very friendly, and being able to see the chefs at work, was a highlight to my teen, she was fascinated watching them. The Rupert Brook restaurant Granchester Cambridge. Pascky Benedetta is the inspiration in the revival of The Rupert Brook. He has had a previous pub in Coton that continues to thrive soley upon his reputation. The gastropub franchise now has a new model of customer satisfaction in the picturesque village of Granchester just outside of central Cambridge. We went there for a family celebration and were treated to a sumptuous three course fare. Matt King the Head Chef provided us with a starter of pan fried scallops with truffle and lovely pink pickled cauliflower which went well with our New Zealand Sauvignon wine. The carnivores in the party then fed their desires with an amazing tomohawk steak with the usual trimmings accompanied by vintage Pomerol wine that was silky smooth with wonderful hints of blackcurrant. For dessert The homemade chocolate browny with burnt white chocolate, blackberries and vanilla ice cream was seductively naughty and very delicious. The culture of this establishment is first class. The staff are attentive and make you feel very special. The bottom line is that if you want to truly live the gastropub dream then you have to visit the Rupert Brook, be it a anniversary or birthday, an engagement or first date, the atmosphere will blow you away. Go there now before the rest of Cambridge finds out about this new centre of culinary excellence.

It’s such a beautifully designed, thoughtfully decorated boutique restaurant / upmarket country pub. The food is next level—some of the best in Cambridge, without a doubt. You can feel the heart and care that’s gone into every aspect, from the renovation to the service, you can tell it’s been a true labor of love. I had lunch today and it did not disappoint; everyone was welcoming and the atmosphere was lovely! Decided to have a large lunch that consisted of a 3 course meal as I wanted to try so much of the new menu. The highlight was my main, the Smoked Haddock Chowder which ended up in the *very* clean plate club- it was so moreish and delicious! It’s not often that a pub serves orange wine also, and I was so happy to see that option as I love funky and adventurous wines and it paired well with my Chowder! I just want to say a hug congratulations to Pasky and his team on their new adventure and can’t wait to see their success at this venue.

Despite the pub being packed, we cheekily asked for a table for two, and to our surprise, they accommodated us without any hassle or rush. It was a relief, especially considering it was their opening night. We were seated quickly and greeted warmly. Our drinks arrived promptly, along with some tap water served in what can only be described as the ugliest yet coolest jug I’ve ever seen—I’ve just ordered two for myself! We hired the first floor private function room and roof top terrace for our Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration and were very well catered for by your staff. Jemima, though she had only recently moved into her current role, immediately inspired confidence, quickly grasping what we wanted, replying promptly whenever we got in touch and being full of helpful, sensible suggestions about the catering arrangements, buffet menu and choice of drinks. Harry, who looked after all the practical details on the day, was cheerful, attentive and went out of his way to check that everything was working out as we'd hoped - it was. The setting is excellent - smart but relaxed and informal - and the roof terrace a delightful place to relax with your guests on a summer's day. The buffet lunch was excellent with a varied and appealing choice of vegetarian and non-vegetarian treats. We can only apologise if our thirsty grandchildren drank you out of pineapple juice on the day - it's a big favourite of theirs! We came to you for a birthday celebration last year and it was great to be back at the Rupert Brooke. Once more we were delighted with the overall experience and it was the perfect place to gather our family for a happy and truly memorable celebration. Thank you for all you did to help make it that way. Hilary and John

Exhibited all the qualities of a high end restaurant, but sadly food didn't live up to the promise. Vegan spiced lentil curry was really bland, v.small portion and served with poppadums and no rice. Cost £17. I'm not a lover of overly sweet things but Banana sponge with toffee sauce was missing sweetness completely. My tastebuds were confused looking for it. Cost £9. 'Catch of the Day' was promoted by the server. Meal was small, pleasant enough but not something to recommend, especially as it came with a price tag of £26! 10% service charge added to bill automatically. As lovely as the surroundings were, could not recommend to foodies who would also require value for money. Immaculately clean and beautifully presented with several distinct eating areas

A few years ago I had a poor experience at TRB and wrote a negative review, and swore I'd never go there again. Well, I was somewhat compelled to go there with five others recently, and I'm glad to report that time is a great healer, or whatever people say. I couldn't have been happier with my experience there this time. We'd booked at another venue for supper, but were turned away at the door because their oven had broken down and they couldn't feed us, or anybody else. Happily, TRB took us in like good Samaritans, and we had a lovely meal with excellent service. I had crispy pork cheek to start which was absolutely lovely, and a flat iron steak with 'dirty' chips which was cooked perfectly. One of our party was unhappy with his chicken satay terrine, but in conversation with some locals before we ordered, it was suggested we should avoid it, so why B ignored this advice, we'll never know. Otherwise, thank you TRB for accommodating us in our hour of need, and now I will definitely return some time.

Lovely location, Grantchester is beautiful. However, since the pub has been refurbished, it’s lost its special charm. This is no longer a traditional pub, as described on their website. The food was mediocre, as the roast was okay, but the crumble was terrible. I was quite disappointed given the other raving reviews. The service was ATROCIOUS, the man who was serving us forgot parts of our order several times, wasn't concentrating so for puddings we were already eating them with cutlery and then he came and gave us more cutlery… all in all I’m sorry to say, it was an average experience.

I brought my parents to you as I am a big fan of the chestnut pubs and was confident they’d enjoy a meal there. We had a good afternoon but sadly did leave with some disappointments. The main disappointment was my dads roast beef. Sadly it was not enjoyable for him. The beef was very gristly and fatty, making it very difficult to cut. As a butcher, he knew sirloin shouldn’t have been this fatty, must have not been trimmed out, which was a massive shame. The rest of our food was okay, we had two fish and chips (although the batter was overdone) but I have to say the chorizo burger was lovely. When we made our waiter aware of the beef, he said he’ll tell the chef but we didn’t get anything back from him or any compensation, which could have made us feel a bit better. Overall I was disappointed from the meal and makes me think twice eating at one of your pubs again which again is a massive shame because I really do think your pubs are lovely. Will continue to come for drinks but probably not again for a meal. I hope to hear back from someone?

A really disappointing first, and last, experience. We took out friends out for a meal here and were completely let down by the quality of food. I had the beef short rib, which was dry - difficult with such a fatty cut. There was little sauce on the plate and the vegetables were under-seasoned. Dophinois potatoes were tasty and well cooked though. My wife ordered a rare flat iron steak. It arrived medium rare (not the end of the world) but the meant was hard. It was difficult to cut with a steak knife, nevermind chew. We flagged this to a member of the team who firstly said we should have ordered it medium-rare and then agreed that it was actually medium-rare. They were unable to find a satisfactory solution, so my wife did not eat the steak. When I came to pay the bill (£200 for 4 people - 1 main and 1.5 drinks per person), I was frustratingly charged for the steak my wife didn't eat. Not wanting to make our guests uncomfortable, I begrudgingly paid, but I am left disappointed both with the quality of food and the service response to a complaint. Sadly, we won't be returning.

Enjoyed an hour or so playing pool on what was a quiet Saturday night here. Darts available too and a quiz machine. Nice local with large separate dining area and plenty of parking. Often visited to watch the football which is always televised here.

Extremely expensive now for everything, considering it's all donated free, rude greedy staff behind the tills, over pricing on all free donated items, won't be going again

Menu somewhat limited but food was lovely. It was very busy and lots of people talking inside was inevitably loud; however, this was made unbearable by the rock music blasting out from the speakers. When we mentioned it to a staff member she wasn't interested. We would have stayed for cake but as it was couldn't bear the noise any longer.

Always enjoy visiting here for something to eat and drink, usually breakfast items such as a bacon and egg roll, scrambled eggs on toast. Food quality is always very good, and I think the staff there are excellent. Polite, friendly and always very helpful. Visit about two or three times a month. We have bought plants, bags of peat or compost, and I like the collection of greeting cards for sale. Always good to spend the money accumulated on the Loyalty card.
