If there is a zero star, I would like to give them. Let me tell you about our experience. Today we two adults brought two children, one three years old and the other four years old, to their cafe to drink coffee and we sat indoors. When we had almost half of the cup, the waiter came over and told me that their manager saw our children eating things that did not belong to the store. They asked us to immediately stop, hoped us can understand. At that time, the children were eating lollipops and crisps, which were just snacks for children. They said that the cafe has a rule that children cannot eat these things in store, and they must consume things which bought from the order point, which is allowed. We respected their rule and immediately asked the children to stop. We thought we were really cooperative. Although we have lived in the UK for nearly 20 years and no restaurants or cafe have had such a rule, we still kept our manners and been really polite. At the same time, there was a local family sitting at the next table, and there was a little girl who was also holding a bag of snack and eating them. In fact, I personally think that there is nothing wrong with letting children eat. I think the table next door is doing nothing wrong, as you couldn’t force children to eat outside food all the time, they have their favourites. And they have right to eat children food. We quickly finished our coffee and prepared to pay the bill. When paying the bill, I specifically reminded the waiter that if you have a rule, please treat all customers equally instead of differently, because it will make me feel that you are racially discriminating, which is very irritating and unreasonable and rude! Their manager came towards us angrily and said that the table next to us was eating baby snacks while we were eating something different. Okay, if you insist on saying that, I have nothing to argue with you. then is it normal for your cafe to bully customers at this stage? I don't think this excuse is acceptable, all I received was prejudice and racism. The whole time we had coffee took up less than 25 minutes in the store.we didn’t hold the table for a long time just because of the children need to eat some snacks. If you are in the situation, what would you think?

Ordered pot of tea. Cup was filthy and not washed properly which is pretty disgusting. Went in to change the cup and they were all filthy, pretty disgusting to be quite honest. Previous drinks tide marks and brown marks on the bottom, I am not entirely sure if they were even actually washed. I don't get any pleasure out of negative reviews but I can't think I have ever experienced this before.

Menu somewhat limited but food was lovely. It was very busy and lots of people talking inside was inevitably loud; however, this was made unbearable by the rock music blasting out from the speakers. When we mentioned it to a staff member she wasn't interested. We would have stayed for cake but as it was couldn't bear the noise any longer.

A small but varied menu. Service was good, happy, friendly staff. Our meal arrived without delay, a croquet monsieur and smoked salmon on sourdough with a poached egg. The sandwich was ok but nothing special with just a gherkin on the plate for decoration/ flavour. The salmon was on a thin slice of bread with strongly flavoured yoghurt under it. I’m not sure that tahini and smoked salmon work well together. It was expensive for what was delivered.

Absolutely my favourite café in and around Cambridge! They have reached and continue to maintain an excellent standard of cooking, with a concise but perfected menu of brunch masterpieces, and a delicious and beautiful selection of cakes. This is not a greasy spoon cafe - all the menu items are made with top notch ingredients, artfully prepared into delicious and elegant dishes. Also the staff are always super friendly and welcoming! 10/10, places like this are hard to come by. ☕️🥇

One of the worst brunches. I could have made a better one at home. 11 pound French toast had one uncooked brioche toast that was just overpowered with cream and sauces. Really disappointed. The cake was definitely a day old and not fresh at all. It was such a beautiful day so we were really excited about a nice brunch but alas :( would not recommend

Brunch (especially toasties) is delicious, cakes are average (very average!) and the service is… well, disappointingly bad, killing any inch of good vibe. Feels like staff are doing you a favor serving you, they are incredibly unhelpful and muted - it feels like they don’t want you to come in (welcome sign actually says ‘if there’s no room inside wait outside, he have no room for you here’ ) - outch, got that, I feel that. I wonder if staff like working there; they all seem miserable and unhappy. If I was the manager I’d be taking a hard look at this red flag review. Oh, taking kids there is even more enraging, as you feel the lack of empathy from miles away. Sad. I wonder who they want to cater for… I don’t write this review lightly. I’ve been there countless times and it’s the same thing EVERY TIME. I finally had enough of it.

Recently visited this charming cafe in Cambridge with lovely staff. The soup was not just good, but absolutely delicious. The Moka with oat milk pleasantly exceeded my expectations. While the prices seemed reasonable, the mandatory 10% tip felt a bit odd. It's worth noting for those considering a visit. Overall, a nice cafe with great offerings, but the tipping policy might catch you by surprise. Visited in December 2023

We called-in for coffee and cake - the quality of the food/drink was good. The reason for our dissatisfaction and low review score is the cost/pricing policy; The prices are at the top end of the range we normally meet - BUT on top of this we were charged additional supplement for non-dairy milk (I would stress that this is a medical/dietary need and NOT a fashion choice) and then 'discretionary 10% service charge' on top of that. As a result the cost rapidly ramps up. The 'discretionary 10% service charge' was anything but discretionary. It was automatically added to our bill and we were not given any opportunity to have it removed at the point of payment - the bill was just handed over on the assumption that we wished to pay 110% of the price. Surely it would be better to give the paying customer the option of adding a service charge if they choose to do so. Unfortunately we will not be visiting again.

We stopped here intending to visit Burwash Larder which is featured in “The Extra Mile” guide. The courtyard is home to a number of other retail outlets including this delightful cafe. We enjoyed brunch outside on a warm and sunny day although there are indoor tables available. The cafe is open Monday to Sunday 10-4 with last food service at 3.30. There is an all-day menu of light meals, snacks and beverages. We chose one Brioche French Toast with whipped feta and blueberries and one Garlic Flat Mushroom with spinach and poached egg. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was well presented and tasty. We finished our visit by calling in to the well-stocked farm shop and delicatessen for a few groceries.

I love this place, it’s a treat when I’ve been to the farm store or just driving through the area. Really good quality handmade artisan food and barista coffee, complimented by friendly staff and nice environment. I love these kinds of independent places and they need our support, it’s not easy to compete with big corporations. Modern leisure market is miserable enough with every high street in the country now dominated by the same homogenised mass-market brand name corporate coffee shops and restaurants. Serving up (slightly) cheaper, highly processed/refined, mass produced factory food full of preservatives and other fairly toxic ingredients. I appreciate many people are feeling the pinch of our present troubled times, but some of the reviews on here are really maddening. People are confusing inflation with profiteering and taking out their frustration on a small business doing their best, struggling against the same macro forces outside of their control as us. Rising rents, energy and ingredients costs, plus paying their staff a living wage to make fresh food on site. The flippant, thoughtless, often narcissistic way people attack a small business like this, with many staff depend on them for their livelihood for such minor things, seems at best very small minded and careless; and at worst outright spiteful. I wonder if they’d appreciate it if someone wrote to their employer making vicious attacks for minor mistakes in their work when they’re busy as example, blowing out of all proportion and risking their jobs? Almost certainly not. As a regular patron, I can assure you, this is a great establishment that I can highly recommend. Go here for a treat, accept it’s going to be a few quid more than a awful corporate café, but your tastes buds and general health will thank you for the quality.

Very nice surroundings and ideal for a family visit. Interesting crafts on display also. However, the prices in the tea shop were outrageously expensive. £4 or £3.70 for a slice of cake and £1.80 for a small baby-cino. Tea was £3.20! Not on! Significantly more expensive than National Trust and that’s saying something!!

I needed a lunch stop &, looking on the best known search engine, Flock Cafe was the nearest place I could find. That same site also offered great reviews for the place so I thought I couldn’t go wrong. Mistake. The cafe itself seems to be located on some sort of farm flavoured trading estate; the sort of venue that has farm produce shops alongside arts & crafts vendors. But I was only here for the food. The photos on the search engine map site showed/shows interesting & healthy food options with avocado, beetroot, poached eggs, etc. It was these photos that drew me in. Mistake. On the day in question there were only three choices of food available; each one a “toastie”. I was split between a cheese, cheese & ham; a cheese, cheese, cheese & spinach or a cheese, bacon & onion. And no, that’s no typo. It was a cheese laden dish or nothing. I asked for the eggs I’d seen on the reviews site but, was told, due to a staffing issue, nothing but cheese toasties were available. At a minimum price of £8, I opted for the slightly dearer cheese, bacon & onion option for £8.50. To be fair, it was good although the pickled cornichon was a pathetic addition to my plate. The coffee was nice too. I ordered an oat milk mocha & the (only) friendly barrista warned me that the chocolate in the mocha contained lactose. No such warning was issued in regards to the surfeit of cheese on the p.poor menu. A quick mention of the other clientele may be in order before I sign off. The place was crowded (it was a very rainy day). Most tables in this small, ex-stable (?) were occupied with retirees who sat with their empty cups before them as if they were waiting out of the rain for a coach that would never arrive. There were also two, dynamic entrepreneurial types who took up four chairs & a table with their laptops & work bags discussing, no doubt, their schemes, schedules & networking strategies while the glass of water & another empty cup between them gathered dust. Perhaps if the management of this pathetic little canteen were to charge all of the loiterers, they might subsidise the over priced toasted cheese sandwiches.

I have visited here a few times now and feel like it's time I left them a review. The café is in a great location, surrounded by some nice little shops at Burwash manor. The café itself has a great (and quite large) seating area outside for when the weather is good and also a number of inside tables for those rainy days. At the moment you have to order when you enter from the menu which we were more than happy to do. During Covid times you would hardly be wanting to touch a menu anyway. The food I've had there has always been excellent, particular favourites are the Burwash breakfast and the Turkish eggs. I'm not a huge coffee drinker but the ones I've had here have always been great, better than I've had in lots of other places. The staff are always pleasant and happy to have a chat with you and the service levels have always backed them up. Apparently there is a new chef so we're excited to see what they bring to the menu. We've been to lots of cafes in the area and this is easily in our top few. Make sure you save room for one of the homemade cakes as they will keep you wanted to go back. We will be back soon for sure to try out some of the other items they offer.

I went there today and couldn't believe how expensive it was, It's a complete RIP off and the food is not good even with the government paying half of it

Great little spot to go for coffee and cake or a tasty breakfast, brunch or lunch. Nice seating area in the courtyard, which works really well in the current covid times. Defo a nice feel to it, something different to the usual eating places. Free...

Post lockdown we get a bit fussy about eating out. Flock Cafe has always been popular and they've expanded into the car park which works really well. The burger was delicious, meaty and juicy! Great spot, highly recommended

Stopped off here for morning coffee. Slightly taken aback to be told we couldn’t have a toasted tea cake as their grill was broken ... though they seemed to be producing toast? The sourdough toast was very nice, but coffee was lukewarm.

Lovely spot for a cup or coffee, and prettily decorated with with attractive plants and old furniture. Staff are always friendly. Food is good but quite simple for the prices. We enjoy having a drink and piece of cake instead of going for lunch

Like the fact that they ask you to share tables when it's busy so more people can get in. Disappointed by one couple who declined to share a table. I wouldn't let them in again!

Vi una foto de un stroganoff de setas en un anuncio recientemente que provocó esta revisión. Lamentablemente la realidad no se parecía en nada a la foto.

This is for Google Maps, which, as happens quite often, has incorrect opening times information.
