Waited 40 minutes for roast to come. Had to go & ask where it was. When food came, no cutlery. Waitress asked if someone was bringing knives & forks, as if we should know. Sat for five more minutes looking at our food but unable to eat it. When cutlery came waitress apologised, but no explanation. Never again.

Service was excellent, slight delay in dessert options and missing a couple but soon rectified Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, from the littluns to the bigguns. This was the first time my family and I visited this pub, and I hope it won't be the last. It's a nice pub with a good feeling/atmosphere to it. Friendly staff, that put up and answered alot of confusing questions. And to top it off, the food was excellent, decent portions and nicely cooked. Personally no one in our group could fault (ranging from a 16 year old to almost an 80 year old).

Called in for Sunday lunch. It was very busy which accounted for a 15 minute wait to take our order. Made allowance for this as we weren't in a hurry. I Had the leek and potato soup which was very hot but unfortunately no real flavour and extremely thick more like watery mash potatoes. All our main courses were good and plentiful. Too full for a dessert. Overall a good lunch and would recommend.

Great meal and tasty a venison pie. Beautifully presented and very filling. Staff were very attentive and the place was buzzing with people. The Sunday roasts passing us by were ginormous. Would certainly bring friends here. A lovely old pub with classy decor. Can also visit in the week and can have normal menu or small plates. By the way small plates was more than enough for me. Plenty of parking, though at peak times car park often full. Well behaved dogs on a lead welcome too. What more can you ask for?

Came here for a family members birthday, majority of us had some sort of roast. I would like to say it was delicious and filling given it's nearly £20 price tag and all I was filled with was disappointment and frustration. I had Norfolk turkey which was not seasoned and bland at best, 2 small floppy carrots, some very under cooked cabbage and one over cooked Yorkshire pud, 2 potatoes which I think is stingy but we're the only nice thing on the plate, and one floppy parsnip, no stuffing even though the menu said stuffing. As we were a bigish group we had all reordered, my daughter has a dairy allergy and we're told before hand what she could have that was dirty free so for her it was baked beans sausages and chip they brought out to her sausage and mash, I haven't been somewhere where standard mash doesn't either have milk or butter, they took it back and just took the sausages off the mash and put on a plate with chips and no baked beans sausages still had mash on them wiped them as best we could which time everyone was eating couldn't very well ask for a fresh plate, my daughter ended up having a bad tummy rest of that day so be careful if you waste your money here and you have allergies, my partner did complain at the bar and whoever was behind the bar just got grumpy and acted annoyed at my partner, everyone else I spoke to in our group were very underwhelmed with their Sunday lunch, brother in-law had a sandwich from the menu he said that was nice so it's good to know they can make a sandwhich. This place really isn't worth the extortionate prices they charge maybe just go for a beer?

Called at the last minute for a table of 4 on a Saturday evening.. not a problem they said .. 15 mins later we were there and seated by Myles ! He took our drinks order and gave us the menus . After a quick look we all decided.. scampi, fish and chips and 2 deli burgers . Wait was good and food was all presented and cooked great .. not sure about little pots of gravy with the burgers though . Sweets next and we all picked different… nice selection all handmade … Only one point to watch .. don’t wash the kitchen floor with bleach detergent when people are eating within close proximity as is a pungent smell spoiling your dining experience. One last point .. when I ask for the bill I don’t expect to go and chase it while the guy is standing chatting with friends in the bar area ! Not bad for this visit but take note in other reviews of attentiveness

We went on a Saturday lunchtime. The food was reasonably nice. The calamari starter was average with a standard tasting dip. I had prawn and salmon risotto which I didn't like very much. The consistency was too wet and the salmon laid whole over the dish rather than in chunks in the risotto. The puddings were the best course To be honest I wouldn't hurry to go back, not because it was bad, it was fine -but just because it wasn't really lovely.

Food was very good. There were mistakes with the delivering of food. Wrong meals brought out. Got desserts but waited fir spoons and forks. One person had their fish delivered to them by hand not tongs. Although we were a group the person taking our order stood at end of table and we called out our order from other end of longish table. Difficult as music was platting and another table had noisy customers at it. So not easy to hear. Some of our ladies are rather hard of hearing anyway. Couldn't fault the cooking and presentation of the food though - especially the gooseberry crumble and custard.

My family and I visited the George for Sunday lunch. Lovely pub that was really busy so had a buzzing atmosphere. The car park was full so we had to park our car out on the street - not really a problem. The service was informal but attentive. The venison pie was lovely - I thoroughly enjoyed it. The rest of our group had roast dinners, the only criticism would be that the food was a little tepid and would have preferred it hotter (however I'm sure this would have been rectified had we have asked). I recently visited The George Inn and felt compelled to share my experience, as I believe it's important for potential patrons to hear both sides of the story. Contrary to some positive reviews that seem a bit too perfect, my experience at The George Inn was far from satisfactory. Despite what appears to be efforts by the management to shape a positive image, my visit left much to be desired. I must admit that the negative reviews I had read prior to my visit were unfortunately accurate. The atmosphere was chilly, and I had to keep my coat on throughout the meal. The service was slow, and our food arrived cold, with one dish completely forgotten. It was a disappointing experience overall, and I feel it's essential for potential customers to be aware of these shortcomings. In particular, I would like to highlight the quality of the fish and chips, which were, in my opinion, the worst I've ever tasted. The cod, if it was indeed cod, seemed questionable, and the taste left much to be desired. It's disheartening to see a lack of improvement despite efforts to influence reviews in their favor. It's my hope that this review provides a balanced perspective and helps future patrons make informed decisions when choosing a place to dine. While everyone's experience may vary, I believe honesty is crucial in ensuring that establishments strive for continuous improvement.

I had smoked salmon pate for starters, which was really nice. Roast beef for mains. The two huge roast potatoes where over cooked. I got one carrot, one parsnip, and 3 sprouts. No stuffing. I then had black forest torte, which was nice but too rich, so I couldn't eat all of it. It's such a shame as the place is so lovely! As it's a real old traditional pub, lovely feel. I think I would go again to try something different, but if it's the same level of food, then I won't go again

Myself and some associates visited this pub some months ago, around early september, and whilst the food was acceptable, we found the staff to be sullen and distracted. we spoke to one elderly somerset woman, who whilst accepted our comments about the lacklustre experience, she came across as rude and unconcerned. it was only when we asked to speak to the manager that we were informed she was in fact the manager! we left disheartened on that occasion. It was only recently we decided to give the pub a second try, and i can say nothing bad about the experience, excellent food and a refreshingly enthusiastic service. a special thank you to flo, who served us brilliantly and flawlessly. when we asked about the surly southerner, we were informed she no longer had a position at the pub. we speculated her departure had caused a shift in the air at the george, and thank the waiting staff and kitchen for our wonderful meal and experience!

Myself and friend visited one thursday evening. Both had the Chicken Milanese and were not impressed as a good 1/3 of the chicken was pink verging on raw. We mentioned this to the older waitress with pigtails, chewing gum I might add which I find rude and she seemed very disinterested with our concerns and said that just because chicken is pink it doesn't mean it's not cooked properly. Safe to say we didn't finish the meal, paid and left. My friend phoned me the next morning to say she had been ill in the night and so had I. I emailed The George and I presume it was the owner who responded and said nothing had been brought to their attention about our complaint and concerns about our meal and said that there was a bug going around and this was probably why we were ill. Not the response I expected and will not be going back. I'm glad I made that desicion as recently I received an email from a member of staff with the attached photos and assured me they are 100% valid, are of the George Inn, Babraham and can be verified as Enviromental health were sent the photos to alert them of the lack of food safety and hygiene. I have looked in to this and Enviromental health visited 9th June 23 and dropped their scoring to a 3 and visited again in October and apparently still under review.

Mixed experience last night. Food was tasty and good quality, and we all enjoyed the starters and mains that we received. Service was poor though. First waiter and waitress (I think the boss?) were clueless and, to be honest, quite rude. The third waitress was far more pleasant and did a good job, though we felt a bit sorry for her as she was clearly picking up more than her fair share of tables whilst other staff seemed to linger around the bar area. A Friday evening, and was looking forward to my birthday meal. The bar wasn't busy and despite a few staff hanging out at the bar, they weren't exactly falling over themselves to welcome you! We had a table booked & shown to our table. Staff...

Met up with family yesterday and had a lovely meal. I had two starters which came out fresh and well presented. The sausage and mash was devoured by a family member who said it was very tasty indeed. The others in our group enjoyed their burger...

Visited last Saturday at same time as big gathering and staff could not cope with demand. Booked a table in advance for guests visiting and 1h30mins until our food was served for 4 people. We politely told staff at the end we were unhappy due to time delay. However we were very surprised that the staff and manager became very defensive with the excuse that by having a starter (bread with hummus) we should expect a delay on our main meal! Food was nice, besides butternut squash wellington which was a feeble attempt at wellington. Won’t be returning on busy nights

If there were more stars for experience I would give them to this fine establishment. Farmers and friends from many lands should visit. Only one word describes the splendour of the Babraham surroundings; transformative. I first visited Babraham on the 10th of August 2023 and yearned to return, which I then did a few hours later. If you have a travel guide at home throw it out; it's worthless. Travel guides will have to be rewritten to simply read 'Babraham'. Everything else will be a footnote. I hope to return to Babraham on an emotional, spiritual, social, political, cultural journey to once again pay respect to Babraham and the groundbreaking research happening, as well as the Jonas Webb statue erected by farmers and friends from many lands. 7 stars out of a maximum of 5.

I've got to get this off my chest – the pie and mash at The George Inn was a real letdown. Back in the day, this used to be a go-to spot for a comforting meal, but that recent experience was far from satisfying. Let's...

Came here recently for some food and was extremely disappointed. Friendly staff, but the chefs are really not kidding anyone. First attempt was a Green Thai Curry which was extremely bland, you could just about taste the freezer it was bought from. They tried to...

A cozy pub with a rich history! Lots of indoor dining but if the weather is good, but plenty of outdoor seating as well.

Stopped here on way to Elevden Centre Parcs. Beautiful setting, lots of parking. Food reasonably priced but is top quality, the chips are amazing. Surprised it only has a score of 4.3 on Google, should be much higher.

Attended this pub twice just to pass the time while in the area, pub is nice but due to size of pub you have to sit within earshot of other patrons in drinking area. Does have outdoor seating for nicer weather. Prices of drinks are in my opinion on the high side of average but this is becoming the norm now. Food prices stop me from purchasing food here so I cannot comment on quality of food.

If there is a zero star, I would like to give them. Let me tell you about our experience. Today we two adults brought two children, one three years old and the other four years old, to their cafe to drink coffee and we sat indoors. When we had almost half of the cup, the waiter came over and told me that their manager saw our children eating things that did not belong to the store. They asked us to immediately stop, hoped us can understand. At that time, the children were eating lollipops and crisps, which were just snacks for children. They said that the cafe has a rule that children cannot eat these things in store, and they must consume things which bought from the order point, which is allowed. We respected their rule and immediately asked the children to stop. We thought we were really cooperative. Although we have lived in the UK for nearly 20 years and no restaurants or cafe have had such a rule, we still kept our manners and been really polite. At the same time, there was a local family sitting at the next table, and there was a little girl who was also holding a bag of snack and eating them. In fact, I personally think that there is nothing wrong with letting children eat. I think the table next door is doing nothing wrong, as you couldn’t force children to eat outside food all the time, they have their favourites. And they have right to eat children food. We quickly finished our coffee and prepared to pay the bill. When paying the bill, I specifically reminded the waiter that if you have a rule, please treat all customers equally instead of differently, because it will make me feel that you are racially discriminating, which is very irritating and unreasonable and rude! Their manager came towards us angrily and said that the table next to us was eating baby snacks while we were eating something different. Okay, if you insist on saying that, I have nothing to argue with you. then is it normal for your cafe to bully customers at this stage? I don't think this excuse is acceptable, all I received was prejudice and racism. The whole time we had coffee took up less than 25 minutes in the store.we didn’t hold the table for a long time just because of the children need to eat some snacks. If you are in the situation, what would you think?
