Best restaurant fish and chips ever

We come to this fabulous garden centre today.Lovely displays and good prices. The santa Claus was absolutely brilliant. Easily the most professional and caring one we have ever seen.

Good service.polite staff.child friendly. Good mothers day menu.

Lovely village pub with local ales and beer garden. Plenty of parking spaces for visitors. Very friendly helpful staff.

Just had a really nice Sunday lunch. The staff are a happy and helpful team and the food was fresh hot and plentiful what more could you ask. By far the best Sunday roast in the area. Thanks we’re already planning our next visit.

This nice country pub has changed hands since my last visit. I am always a bit dubious about new management in pubs but the Anchor crew didn’t disappoint. Our food was freshly cooked, hot and served with a smile but the service could have been a bit quicker. All washed down with 2 pints a locally brewed Cockleboat bitter. It is a pity it wasn`t a bit busier at the time of our mid-week boys lunch.

Fantastic home cooked food. Loved the steak pudding and spotted dick and custard. Perfect!

Lovely food, highly recommended

I've lived in the Southend area for nearly 53 years and knew of this pub only because a friend lives near but never eaten or drunk here until today on my 8 mile return walk from Rochford to Hockley. I had a pit stop on the way and back at this pub, coffee on the way, there and an amazing well deserved roast on the way back. The staff were helpful, polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. She even accepted my loose change as part payment for my coffee. I had a beetroot and squash tart with all the trimmings (yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese, brocolli, peas, carrots and plenty of gravy) instead of the beef roast as they had unfortunately run out, but it was extremely tasty, well cooked and definitely needed. I would recommend this local, friendly pub for the great food and service.So glad I stopped there. Will be visiting again!

Absolutely gorgeous place. Lovely food. Great staff but object to people standing smoking right by you while you are eating flicking ash! Has put us off going back unless you sit indoors. Shame really.

Saturday night take away this week was chips from Munch King to accompany the kebab from next door. Staff are always friendly and chips were freshly cooked. Even with recent price rise still decent value. Recommended.

Called in here after a nice walk in Rochford. It was all amazing.. top quality food and service, they were very dog friendly in the bar too. Will come back and would definitely recommend.

The best Sunday Roast. Great food, great service and a cozy atmosphere. Will definitely be back! Been here a few times now, and it never disappoints.

First time visiting Plough & Sail. Went for lunch on New Years Eve and had an excellent meal. Three superb courses plus very friendly & helpful staff. Next time I am that way I will be sure to visit again. It was the best pub meal I have had in a very long time.

Ordered large chips and I must say they were the worst chips we had ever had. They were white, hard, and just about warm. You couldn't even put them between bread to disguise the look and taste. £7 in the bin for two large chips, never again.
