Hockley Market Garden Centre in Rochford

I found a couple of treasures here. A beautiful azalea and a handsome little pine tree. It's a shame the cafe ran out of decaff coffee and I had to ask for extra butter for my teacakes. At £4.50 I expect two for the top and two for the bottom, but two jams was very generous. I only needed one of them. I will return for the plants sometime.

Nice selection, but probably best if you are more local than I am. It was recommended to me. Lots of large shrubs at good prices and nice selection of rockery plants and perennials. The food looked good and the cafe was packed. Not sure I'd visit often from Chelmsford, but it was worth investigating.

I live around the corner, so have bought many plants over the last 10 years, however, I have noticed detrimental changes to business practices. Someone thought it would be a good idea to copy Ikea and force one to walk past all their supplies of cheap tat from China on the way to the exit. This is one of the reasons I don't go to IKEA and the reason I won't be back. I was going to buy some compost at the till on the way out, but being told "this way to pay" made me keep my money firmly in my pocket and I simply drove away. May I suggest the new generation of White's, now at the helm, look up the word rapacious. If you're a keen gardener and don't appreciate open-wallet surgery, or being told what to do, do yourself a favour and go to Four Acres Nursery. 5 minutes away, off Brayes Lane.

Very easy to buy more than will fit into the car, but they do deliver when you have done that. A great selection of healthy plants to choose from. Friendly helpful staff. Need plants? There is a very large selection of plants and pots, Recommend you visit

We come to this fabulous garden centre today.Lovely displays and good prices. The santa Claus was absolutely brilliant. Easily the most professional and caring one we have ever seen.

I've been buying plants from Hockley Market Garden Centre since they opened a number of years ago .. their plants are of good quality... many of the plants ive bough have been of a higher price else where.. there is a wide range to choose from... the staff are very helpful... and I can't recommend them enough ...

Can't really rate this centre as it didn't do indoor plants

Witnessed a rude worker tell a girl that they only hire young men because girls can’t lift heavy! Wouldn’t expect someone like that to be working in customer service, what a shame.

Excellent choice of plants,trees and flowers also a great eating area afternoon tea and a variety of fresh cooked dinners,lunch and a amazing ploughman's thank you for a great day out with my sisters

Amazingly bigger than we thought and the price of the plants, trees and shrubs is great value. Needless to say my partner purchased many things!

Old lady with short dark hair helping with parking was rude and miserable. Cafe wanted to charge £5.00 for 2 cans of coke to take away. Really disappointing as it was always such a nice place to visit.

Unfortunately I was spoken to in a very rude manner by one of your staff, did not catch her name. I was just asking for some general advice on plant types for a pot in my garden (what type may work best e.g climber types) and she responded in a very rude tone for absolutely no reason. It was clear she didn't want to help us so I will not be returning here in future. If it was because she didn't know how to help she could have simply said sorry I'm unsure or explain who could help but she just carried on being rude and started talking to someone else before we had finished speaking so I walked out without purchasing anything and will not be returning.

We had the nicest afternoon selecting plants 🪴 for my outdoor borders and pots today. Huge amount of choice and the plants looked so healthy. We asked for help a couple of times and nothing was too much trouble. Fabulous garden centre. Thank you.

Brilliant place lots of variety of flowers and plants . Pots and compost etc

This garden centre used to have a lovely Café but sadly it is no longer a warm and welcoming place to meet up with friends. Even when you had to wait for a table, it was worth it. Sadly no longer worth a visit.

Some nice plants here, reasonable prices for the quality. Parking can be a pain if you have a bigger car, they are packed in!

Amazing choice of Christmas decorations, beautiful Trees and also the Santa's grotto is awesome, the kids loved it. You can tell its a family run business as everyone is so friendly and helpful

Lovely garden center great Christmas bits

Great garden centre. Cosy cafe and good food. Only drawback toilet is on opposite side of centre to the cafe which is not good especially for those with young children and the elderly or anyone with a disability. Garden centre would benefit greatly by a new toilet block closer to the cafe so that you have hand washing facilities before you eat.

Great local garden centre, this time I tried the tea rooms, about 2:30 on a Wednesday afternoon, was empty, server exemplary, food perfect, varied menu, recommended.

Have spent hundreds of pounds there over the years .I will not be spending another penny there after the rudeness I received from a woman this week dreadful customer service!

I adore the little shop in this garden centre, the garden plants are all very well looked after and very reasonably priced. I also want to shout out to the guy who directs the traffic, his such a diamond he insisted on helping me put my large bag of peat in my car 🤩👍 ALL ROUND GREAT PLACE TO VISIT

I love this place, good prices, and they take card, the young guys put bags of stone or compost into your car for you, and they have a great little cafe too.

Bought our Christmas tree here. Staff were super friendly. Their Christmas Market area was the best we visited. Great range of decorations well priced. I wish we had brought our Grandaghter , they had an area with animatrinic polar bears, reindeer etc. It was well presented.
