Haven’t eaten there in years, had food tonight and the service was unbelievably friendly & the food was possibly the best fish and chips along with chicken that I’d probably say is better then kfcs and any other chicken shop I’ve had it from! The chips was faultless A⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ordered cod/chips, steak & kidney pie/chips, this is the second time the food quality has been poor. Undercooked chips bordering on raw, just about warm pie and cod batter all mushy.

Nice portion of chips on a Saturday lunch time to round off a walk through the fields & woods from Hockley.

I visited Jackos tonight and i must say it is without doubt the best fish and chip shop, everything i had was superb, the cod was so flaky and the batter so crisp, absolutely superb.

Fast friendly service. Reasonable priced. Good fish and chips. Would definitely recommend.

My Mum lives in a private retirement home and they had a fish and chip night they collected 24 fish and chips every meal was hot and separately wrapped very impressed with the service and quality.

This place is always great food. If I have fish and chips this is my go to.. Staff are friendly and prices are good too.

Im very impressed. Portion size of a large, is actually a large! Happy days. Definitely happy to have found this gem of a chippy for my chips especially as they cook the chips separately from everything else Thursday, Fridays & Saturdays 🙏🏽❤️💯

Always good food. Fast service and staff go out of their way to be helpful. We are not local so they provide us with our meal in a polystyrene box and offer knives and forks.

My favourite fish and chip shop, don’t enjoy other places apart from here. Been eating all my life, and it’s still the best around. Last week me and the family all had fish and chips and it was delicious, highly recommend.

Got a Jackos last Tuesday with my other half, ordered a scoop of chips 1 piece of chicken and a saveloy. The next morning I woke up with the worst bellyache imaginable. Went to the doctors to find out I had food poisoning. Been suffering all week, the most pain I have ever been in. DO NOT go here, stay away. Only just starting to feel better nearly 2 weeks later.

Chip portion size was a little on the small side, but nice, but they don't take card

I have known Jackos for many years from back when I was attending The King Edmund school as a child. My grandparents also used to get from here for many years every Friday. After emigrating from the UK I recently came back to visit last month to catch up with the family. I have no idea over the years if it has changed hands or ownership or not. The one thing I do know is the standards have definitely not dropped there. While staying in Rochford I tried the skate and chips as pictured below with mushy peas and gherkin. Was very comforting to get a real taste of quality fish and chips cooked exceptionally well. I went back the second week just before I left as I wanted to taste what I had again before my long trip home. I was not disappointed again. Everything was cooked perfectly. Giant piece of skate, generous portion of chips and great mushy peas. This has been the best 2 portions of fried skate I have eaten in the last 10 years. I hope they keep it up and I look forward to returning sometime in the next year or so for some of the same nostalgia. Excellent food

Great place for Chips , I've been buying chips from this place since 1998 and they have always delivered a delicious generous sized portion. This place has everything you'd want from a traditional fish and chip shop. Also the curry sauce is banging !!

Outrageous place. My so often goes down there only to report back that he has been charged an extortionate amount for very little. £5.10 for small chips and a sausage is ludicrous. Advise to others don't let children go alone as Jackie will take advantage of them
