The best restaurants in Waltham Abbey South West Epping Forest East of England

I ordered on Deliveroo. I got chicken, Jollof rice, plantain with a sprite and to be totally honest it was disgusting. I’ve never tasted Jollof like that before in my entire life‼️definitely far from authentic. I was truly shocked. The chicken was okay Nothing special… the best part of it was the Sprite and the plantain

Sad that we can’t give more than 5 stars. „Shuhag“ means hospitality in Bengali and that’s the vibe! We loved all the dishes -especially the spinach chicken/paneer and the Shashlik-, the service was amazingly friendly and the owner is such a kind soul who’s doing so much for the community! He taught us about the restaurant’s and towns history. The food prices are incredibly reasonable, we had 3 mains, multiple sides, starters and drinks for 37£! We’re coming back, thank you Naim!!! :-)

Delicious food won't go anywhere else for take away pizza!

If I could give a 0 stars rating I would. Absolutely useless they’ll take your order and make you wait a long time before cancelling. Then they don’t have a number, honestly I wish there was a way to hold them accountable

This review is NOT about the Sultan, however it is about the seafood stall attached to the pub. I bought a large bowl of jellied eels. Which were quite nice, but at £9 a bowl I would have thought that they wouldn’t have put quite so many tails in the bowl five in total. The price of other items on the stall was quite shocking. I enquired as to whether they were busy. The rotund lady replied that they were not. Well it’s no surprise and very easy to see why. This is not a place I would recommend to others nor will I be returning.

My husband always wanted to try Pie and Mash so yesterday we did. We got there for about 12 noon and was surprised to see it already getting full. Luckily we found a table. for. I went up to order and was surprised at the presentation. It looked like they had scoped the mash using the plate itself and mash was over the plate and hubby said it tasted school dinner mash. The pie ok, the liquor was tasteless. (I didn’t mind it). So why have we given it a four- staff we nice and polite, restaurant was clean. Drinks were at very good price and to be honest so the meal itself. If you are in the neighbourhood and want a cheap meal, then this Might be the place for you. Would not rule Out going back, but not in a hurry to.

Great food at a great price, quickly delivered

I was told it was a 45 minute wait for collection. Arrived on time waiting a further 15 minutes before being told it would be an additional 20 minutes. Many other people had been waiting just as long. Asked to cancel the order and the lady behind the counter laughed and said come back tomorrow

Had a lovely afternoon tea with my friend good value for money plenty of sandwiches and delicious freshly baked cake selection. Asked for clean plates for my cakes and was no problem at all. Pretty venue and great to have a local place that serves fresh cakes and sandwiches. Will definitely be back

Weekend bit too pricey but weekdays is amazing, happy hour was the best. And set menu food was delicious. Definitely visiting from Mon to Fri is well worth the 💰

Just ordered a prawn with spring onions and ginger. I think I got 2 onions half cooked 3 piece of spring onions and a few slivers of ginger. Plus it was cold. Not impressed

Lovely, cosy, local pub, lovely warm atmosphere, great service and food was delicious and a hearty portion.
