Weekend bit too pricey but weekdays is amazing, happy hour was the best. And set menu food was delicious. Definitely visiting from Mon to Fri is well worth the 💰

This venue has had a name change is now called luna resturant the place as had a revamp since i was last in there and is very plesant the food is execellent and the staff very friendly they turned this place around well done everybody

Best food in Waltham Abbey Friendly staff and very good service

My boyfriend and I just got a takeaway from Abbey Grill and there were two hairs in our food. We rang up (not to ask for money but to let them know) but the lady just made out that it wasn’t their problem and couldn’t be them. Such a shame as the food is always good but totally ruined with hair in the food. Disgusting.

I hate to give a bad review just now when restaurants and other shops are struggling for business, but as I spent around £50 and was really looking forward to a decent kebab (as this is sadly lacking around this area)I basically wanted three chicken kebabs, but what we received was three lots of cubed, hard chicken, drenched in half a tub of yogurt and a soaked up piece of bread! Utter tasteless. I could live with the long wait, but not the shocking quality in food. All the food ended up in the bin. Never again. I've since tried ROZA and this is very good.

Not as good as previous owners, Standard has dropped dramatically,will be giving a miss in future. Jury out on cleanliness.

All I read about this establishment is the fact that they fail to care for their dog and leave it wandering the streets. They should rehome it as its obvious they have no time for it and do not care if it gets knocked down.

The food here is very good and the guys are friendly and polite but as a local resident I wish they wouldn't let their Rottweiler wander the Abbey on it's own - poor thing 😒

Ordered take out from here on a whim, then read the reviews and had instant regret but was too late by then. However my food arrived 15 mins earlier than expected. The fresh and hot. The chicken was succulent and beautifully seasoned the salad was fresh and tasty and the lamb and houmous was lovely. All in all I was pleasantly surprised and will order from here again

I tried to order a takeaway they left me on hold for 39mins. That is disgusting. I won’t be ordering again.

possilbly the most disgusting meal ive ever had , chicken tasted like a rubber duck the chips were off potatoes which had mold on. the waiter looked as if she was in another planet, seriously id recommend to avoid this place. ps it stinks in there

First time here and have to say that it wasn't the best Turkish meal I've eaten. We ordered a selection of cold and hot meze. The prawns were quite bland but the chilli bread helped with that. The rest of the food was pretty average as were the portion sizes. Favourite was the boregi which was delicious. On the plus side, you can take your own alcohol.

Went in for a quick business lunch. Used to come here all the time, stopped coming when they changed owners and after a long break we gave it a second chance.Food took an hour there was 3 tablesStarters did not come out with the ingredients described on the menu.The chicken shish o god. We waited 2.5 hours for the food we ordered, it was not even very busy and no matter how busy, I don’t think anyone should ever wait that long for their food. Unfortunately I did not stay around to find out how long its going to actually take to get the food as I left after waiting 2.5 hours. I honestly do not recommend this place to anyone!!!

We waited 40 mins before our drinks arrived despite asking for a jug of water to tide us over after 20 mins. The water never came. The food arrived after 50 minutes. The Kleftiko was so tough you couldn’t cut it, moussaka was warm one end cool the other, the meat SO tough in all our meals that the photo is what was left not what was eaten. They dropped £5 and the manageress only seemed to take any notice when I said I’d be writing a trip advisor review. Awful, slow, tough and when we left they said well we’re very busy. The restaurant wasn’t full and if it’s more than they can handle then don’t take bookings.

We ate here last night and were very impressed. You can bring your own booze and they couldn't have been more helpful in providing glasses and chillers for our bottles of wine we had taken with us. The food was excellent, good size portions and very tasty. The staff were very attentive and made us feel very relaxed and did not rush us out. Will definitely be going back.

Would of gave it 5 but apart from the waiter who was really moaning about children the food was lovely but there is no air con so was really hot

As I write this we are still waiting for our food that we ordered over and hour and a half ago to be delivered! We have phoned 4 times to be told give it 5 more minutes each time and it will be with you. Have called again and was told they only have 1 driver who doesn't know Waltham Abbey at all - although he has a Sat Nav! The manager said they can't get hold of the driver and don't know where he is, so he was not being honest when we kept being told 5 more minutes! However he offered to send fresh delivery out straight away. When I asked how this was possible with only 1 driver he suddenly told me he had 2 drivers! We are trying to support a local business and appreciate these are not normal times, but if you can't be honest with your customers then there really isn't much hope! Still no food as I finish this review 1 hour and 45 minutes later. Please be honest with customers - we are highly likely to understand if you are up front from the beginning.

The food prepared by the Abbey Grill is always of an excellent standard, with generous portions. We've found the restaurant's service to be great, and wish to give particular mention to Sherif, who is very attentive and ever eager to provide an exceptional customer experience.

One of my favourites in Waltham Abbey and have been here many times. Yet I was served gone-off sauce and rice and when trying to get a refund for it, I was refused. They refused to acknowledge it was rotten (smelt and tasted awful) instead trying to show me the kitchen fridge and telling us pick and eat the food that (‘should’) be fine. The staff tried to lie by saying they can’t issue a refund because the manager isn’t here, yet issued one after 10 minutes of arguing. Not only that, the staff gave my refund in 5 pence coins, which is very petty. They told us “Don’t come back again.”. Had they been understanding we would’ve come back again as we really enjoyed the food before, but the customer service was beyond shocking. What a shame, maybe training staff to handle complaints will improve it in the future.

We ordered on Just Eat, and, apart from the pricing, all was satisfactory after placing our order. That is until the food arrived. The food had arrived on time, sure, however we found that there were two items missing from our order. We had paid a ridiculous £4 for a litre of orange juice, and that didn't seem to be there! And as if it could be any worse, one of the meals we had ordered came without mushrooms. Now, we had paid £13 for said meal, expecting it to be complete, so to find one of the foodstuffs we specifically ordered be missing was shocking. With two items from our order missing, we decided to call Abbey Grill, and they were not professional on the call, however said they would deliver the orange juice in ''15 minutes''. Upon eating the food we also noticed that the quality was rather abysmal. We will not be ordering again unless the quality and service improves.

Placed an order for delivery, after an hour, rang to chase order was told "it was on the way darling" rang again after 30 minutes, my order "was not done, could get it to me in 45 minutes". Considering they are only providing a delivery service, I do not understand why it would take so long and to be lied to about my delivery.

I rang and placed my order at 6:00pm, I was on the phone for 5mins 10secs to place a meal for 5 people, 2 starters and 5 mains.I asked on the phone how long the delivery was going to be, I was advised 45 mins to an hour. It got to 7:30pm (I wanted to give them half hour grace due to current circumstances) and called them explaining my delivery was due 30 - 45 mins ago. The woman was very rude and said she is very busy and they will start cooking my meal shortly and to go and collect it in 20 mins. When I arrived I said to the woman that the service is not acceptable - if they explained on the phone at 6pm that there would be a 2 hour wait I would have accepted it or not placed an order, however would there really be a 2 hour wait at 6pm? The woman who was serving said "look in the kitchen you can see how busy". I said to here you should have stopped taking orders..... Surely it is best to turn away custom and ask them to call back in half hour when your up to date on orders than to be greedy and keep taking the orders and provide terrible services and loose custom. The woman advised that it was not down to her. The woman offered us soft drinks - which we declined (I have soft drinks in doors). By this time is is past 8pm. My food came out

This restaurant claimed all over social media that they had a deal for NHS staff during the pandemic, we ordered on the phone and they were lovely, we went to collect 45 mins later, they told us the deal finished the day before but would still do it for us. They kept us waiting for an hour saying it's not ready yet, then someone came out and said he was the director and they stopped doing the deal yesterday, we said that we had called through 2 hours ago and someone has confirmed the deal and taken our order and told us to bring in our NHS badges, he just said I'm the director, it finished yesterday, so unpleasant, 3 people who ordered after us collected before us, so told them not to worry about the order they weren't even bothered, they just let us go. After a 2 hour wait, we left with no order. Completely disrespectful

I love this little gem. The food is always good and the staff are always so accommodating. I've been going here for years and travel into Waltham Abbey now that I have moved away. Prices are good too for the quality.

Ordered online. Only half our order turned up an hour late and that was cold. Called the restaurant and they were very rude and argumentative. Finally they delivered the rest of the order, 2 hours after the time of order. Our food cost us £116.47 ! Never using them again.

Lovely food and pretty nice location too. The atmosphere was a bit dead though.

The food here was good and tasty traditional Turkish. Unfortunately the service was not so good. Our waitress was miserable and looked like we were not welcome. The main man was much better.

Ordered takeaway this evening, arrived on time but all the food was cold. Had to reheat in microwave. Abbey grill are 3 minutes drive from our house. Really disappointed

Reason I have given 2 stars ....food was lovely ....but waiter took our starters back before we had finished...and gave us our mains ....we came here for a valentines lunch he made us feel unwelcome .

Food was good. Lots of it :) Got a bit cramped as more people came in, but it was NYE. So to be expected really. There was an added bonus of a belly dancer, who entertained for about 20mins.

Had some fantastic meals here then different owners and then poor meals. Have not been for a while so to leave completely negative reviews would be unfair. If they have reverted to their original standard, great place to visit and eat.

Had the lunch option, which two of us really enjoyed, lovely touch was the salad bread and dip, which was given as a freebie, waiter warmed up and really decent bloke.

Popped in here on the off chance . Glad we did. Complimentary salad, bread and dips. We chose the cold meze followed by chicken shish and the mixed shish. Very tender and tasty meat. Would definitely return if we were in the area

Have eaten in here on more than one occasion and have to say the food is lovely and always hot, it really is the best turkish food i have had and the customer service is always good. the only thing is the beer is pretty expensive and i think very harsh price.

Good food, however they have over charged me by £19 for food that was not in my takeaway bag. Rang the restaurant and informed them, been told they will return the refund, its been 3 hours now and no one turned up with my refund.

Ate there today for the first time and it was near perfect. Such a friendly place and the food was plentiful and cooked to perfection.

It was my nephew's birthday earlier and as he likes Turkich food we decided to try The Square Bar and Grill as it is a new venue in Waltham Abbey and had great reports from our neighbours., We were very well received. The food is tasty and well cooked and the portions are substantial. The shared starter platters are well worth trying.

Have visited this restaurant many times and never disappointed Such friendly staff and gorgeous food. Highly recommended

My family and I went to Abbey Grill for dinner. We found the place by chance, whilst looking for a different restaurant. I am so glad we did! We love Turkish food and this place did not dissappoint. The breads, salad and dips were all complimentary and absolutelt delicious. The babaganoush was yum, as were the lamb bouregi. Our main of shish lamb, came with pilaf and bulgur wheat. The lamb was superb! Not fatty or tough. It was tender and well seasoned. The service was quick and the (head) waiter was very attentive and friendly. The second waiter, didn't understand a word we said, which was a bit of a pain but he was sweet enough and was still attentive and friendly. We would definitelt recommend a visit to this place. For the delicious lamb alone!

Went today and ordered special platter and drinks. Was more than enough for 2 adults and 2 kids. Service was really professional and polite. Ambience was modern and everything was very clean. Would defo recommend x

Visited yesterday for a late lunch with the family. The waiter could not have been more helpful and charming and the rest of the staff were very good too. The food was brilliant. Wish we had room for more food, we would have gone back for dinner

Ordered a platter for 2 tonight, 1st off I got home to Epping and realised they missed out the salad, very disappointing, they were not prepared to deliver and told us to bring back for a refund, no sorry or nothing. For the price I think it’s bad value, very greasy and salty. Will not order again!!

We always used this Turkish for takeaways for their family platter. It used to be £28 and was plenty. We ordered Saturday it is now £40 and half the amount ‍♀️. They said it feeds four, yeah if two don’t eat it would. We won’t be returning.

Went for dinner for a friend's birthday....the staff kindly bought out a sticky toffee pudding with candles, which was a great touch....however then put a charge on the bill for an additional £10 for this. Also wanted a bottle of rose, white zindandel, not on the menu, the waiter went to the co-op to buy some, which was a £5 bottle, but charged £25 for....Very cheeky. Nice gestures....however, the pudding wasn't requested and the wine, well just a totally ridiculous Gp Mark up, will probably not visit again after this 3 stars could have been 5....come on people, it's a local restaurant in Waltham Abbey...don't rip people off

Visited tonight with a friend, the chicken was undercooked and inedible, rice also cold. No one came to check and we had to advise the rather rude waitress that our rice was cold. She did bring a new plate, however did not return after to check if everything else was ok.

We came here back in August . It was our third visit. The first was great, could not fault it but our second visit was a disaster! Waited two hours to get our food then when we did it was then taken away as apparently it wasn't our order, even though my husband had already eaten some of his it was given to another table.

I was very disappointed with my Friday evening meal and service. Myself and friend got to Abbey Grill, ( now renamed to Mez-Opotamia) since my last visit. The service was not good, had to call for service, the female was, not that helpful. Apart for the noise level, they decided to turn up the music to an unacceptable level for Me and bring on Turkish dancer. I didn't enjoy having to shout to my friend when talking. Not the right atmosphere for me and had I been expecting it, I would have chosen a quieter place to eat. I noticed a lot of people like myself, got our remaining food packed to go.

I have only eaten here once and it was excellent. The problem with this restaurant is its takeaway service. We have takeaway from here twice a month but almost every time the order is wrong in some way. Many orders they have forgot to put any chilli sauce in the bag which is very annoying when you've ordered a kebab!!! They also forgot the garlic sauce when I specifically asked if they had put any in the bag and they said they had, I arrived home and there was no garlic sauce. Recently I ordered 4 kebabs and arrived home and they had forgot to put the rice in one of the kebabs! On a plus point, when I phoned to complain they then delivered the rice to my home which was good as they don't do deliveries.

Hi me and my family visited here last Monday and the service was dreadful. It wasn’t busy, but had to ask to order, our drinks were never refilled. The waiters gave no to attention to us, just left in a corner and forgotten about. This is my second time here and both times have been awful.

It's a real shame as the food is really good and well presented. The decor is great and we were saying how good it would be to hire for a party.

Food good stodge reasonable price. Service poor, dont get me wrong but there appeared to be enough waiting staff, but they showed poor attention to detail. An example of this is the empty starter crockery not collected before the main meals arrived. We will get a take out future....

Visited for the second time this evening with hubby and three kids - oldest is a fussy eater but demolished two whole baskets of delicious bread and wolfed down his nuggets and chips. Middle child had her first lamb shish and loved it. Youngest is just over a year old and our waitress was besotted with him and walked around with him for about 10 minutes so we could finish our meal in peace! Service was quick, food was piping hot and absolutely delicious. Very attentive staff, nothing is too much trouble and all very welcoming. It’s not the cheapest place to eat but you’re not going there for a greasy donner, you’re there for authentic flavours and freshly prepared food.

Had the lunch menu for 8.95 2 starters (Cacik and hummus) 1 main (chicken sish and rice) 1 soft drink Walked in. Was offered table really quick. Busy but not too many people Diyan was my waiter. He was really quick, professional and helpful. Was in a rush. So was all done in half an hour. Food was lovely and fresh. Well worth the money
