Nice calm atmosphere (without being boring), good service, very nice breakfast. A good way to start a Sunday after a 5 mile forest run.

First time at this restaurant but will go back n recommend to others. Food was delicious. Service was good. Four of us booked lunch for 2pm on a Saturday. Would imagine it gets busy of an evening. Most comfortable dining chairs I've sat in at a restaurant for a long time

A very stylish restaurant with tasty food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. I love Turkish cuisine and have visited many places around the London and Southampton areas. Just a few were better, most worse than this one. I will definitely come back.

Very lovely place, we enjoined it very much. Amazing food. Type of cousins is not common for London, but amazing. We've tasted 5 fish platter, calf liver and stuffed aubergine. All were amazing. House special cocktail was also great, not very common and lovely. Will come back when have a chance.

I’ve been here a few times now. This time I came for lunch and I wasn’t disappointed. The bread is delicious although I had to refrain from pigging on it too much. The falafel starter was amazing. Tasty, so many flavours and unlike any falafel I’ve had before. The main was simple, tasty and not too big which was perfect for lunch. Great service. The seating is really comfortable and it isn’t too cramped. I would highly recommend Filika in Theydon Bois.

Filika nestles in the quiet village of Theydon Bois. It has become a benchmark in great food, friendliness, and service; this was never more apparent than on our visit on Sunday. We were greeted and shown to our table by the window. The chat and laughter soon began to the accompaniment of smooth background music. The decor remains unchanged: romantic lighting, light-coloured walls, a bar to the left, and an open kitchen at the end. The menu is large and varied. Armed with an Aperol Spritz and a Pornstar Martini, we soon made our selection. We had a shared starter consisting of tempura prawns, chicken on skewers, and scallops. All were perfect in flavour. For our mains, one went for the seabass, and two of us chose the mixed fish grill: the flavour and texture was truly mouth watering. This was baptised with a perfectly chilled Sauvignon Blanc. We then found room for dessert: chocolate ice cream, apple tart drizzled with Amaretto, and tiramisu. This culinary excellence was concluded with lemon tea, black Americano, cappuccino, and Sambucas. Plus, complimentary ones from our gracious hosts. A great thank you for a truly uplifting dining experience, for the chat, laughter, and friendship. Our compliments to your talented chefs for their artistry in the 'hot room'. Until the next time, keep smiling and be happy.

We've been to Filika a few times now, and I'm very impressed each time. The menu is extensive, and the food is tasty and nicely presented. There's also a set menu at certain times, which is amazing value. The restaurant is smart and airy, and service is good too. Most definitely recommended!

Booked ahead for a friend's birthday dinner, and would absolutely recommend. Lovely, comfortable decor, the atmosphere was nice and chilled, the staff were really friendly and didn't rush us despite it being busy. The food, wow, absolutely delicious! 😋 We shared a mixed mezze platter with a few extras and I had the herb crusted cod which was melt in the mouth heavenly! Generous portions, beautifully cooked with a varied Mediterranean menu. Lots of choice for vegetarians and also a kids menu. Pricing was fair, even for drinks and literally a 5 minute walk from Theydon Bois underground station. We'll definitely be visiting again!

We were greeted and shown to our table. The chat and laughter soon began. There is an air of civility and friendship from all at Filika that is very welcoming. Armed with an Aperol Spritz, a Pornstar Martini, and smooth background music we made our selection from a wide-ranging menu. We went for a shared starter: Tempura Prawns, Chicken on skewers, and Scallops; all were perfectly presented and prepared. Plus, we had the complimentary Turkish bread and dips as a delightful precursor. Our mains consisted of a Filika Chicken Shish special and two mixed Fish Grills; again, the freshness and flavour was outstanding. This culinary perfection was christened with a nicely chilled Sauvignon Blanc. Our gluttony didn't end there: one went for chocolate ice cream, and another went for the Apple Tart but drizzled with Amaretto. Exquisite. We concluded this gastronomic feast with lemon tea, cappuccino, black Americano, and Sambucas. We then had complimentary Sambucas and a Tia Maria from our gracious hosts. Once more, Filika has hit the magical benchmark of excellence in cuisine, service, and friendship. I recently visited filika restaurant for the first time and I have to say, I was incredibly impressed. I decided to try their breakfast and I'm so glad I did. We eat out every weekend so we know a good restaurant! This is SO good. Food is excellent. Service exemplary. Fair prices for a varied menu. Can't express enough how lovely the experience is. We now go twice a month abd they never let us down!

Met up with an old friend and we picked this restaurant randomly as it was half way from where we both live. The food was amazing tasted really fresh and beautifully presented.. Even though we were chatting for hours and only ordered a main, dessert and a couple of soft drinks the staff were courteous , polite, and didn’t rush us. Would definitely go back again and would highly recommend Filika.

We came here tonight a party of 7 for the first time even tho I work in Theydon for 26 years. Wish I came here sooner. Amazing food from starters to mains all gorgeous as in my boy words it was its banging and he wasn't wrong 😋 delish everybit of it . All enjoyed by all. My wife, Angela and I visited this brilliant eatery on a busy Saturday night on the Mother's Day weekend, and the service and standard of cuisine never faltered. The decor is inviting and remains unchanged with pictures of sea and landscapes hanging against light-coloured walls. The lighting is romantic, and the background music is 'smooth', creating a wonderful ambience. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table of choice. The chat and banter soon began, and we were made to feel right at home. Armed with a perfectly concocted Aperol Spritz, and to the accompaniment of polite chatter and laughter from diners already there, we made our selection from a wide-ranging menu. We went for a shared starter comprising of seared scallops, grilled prawns, and chicken cubes on skewers; this delicious starter was preceded by Turkish bread and a tasty dip. Our mains consisted of a Chicken Shish, and a mixed grilled fish dish; according to Angela, her chicken was full of flavour and tender; while my mixed grill combo was superb with fresh tasting fish, prawns, calamari, grilled octopus, all on a bed of mashed potatoes and vegetables - the taste was a delightful explosion on the palate. This culinary excellence was baptised with a crisp and chilled Sauvignon Blanc, which complemented our meal perfectly. We then found room for ice cream and an apple tart; my apple tart was without cream or ice cream but drizzled with Amaretto off-menu: the flavour was truly exciting. We concluded this gastronomic feast with tea, black Americano, and Sambucas - plus, complimentary ones from our gracious hosts - thanks, so much. It was truly an uplifting dining experience. Our compliments to the chefs for their artistry in the 'hot room', and a big 'thank you' to all at Filika's for an unforgettable night of great food and friendship. Really great time in here yesterday! The food was very tasty, and had so much flavour. The lamb kofte was brilliant, as well as the moussaka which was cooked to perfection. The humus, ratatouille and tabouleh for starter was excellent too. The service was pleasant and fast, and the coke was cold. Thanks very much, I highly recommend 👍

Eggs Florentine, delicious brunch with a sweet treat...... Apple tarte tartin..perfection

Went for my mum's 73rd birthday, food was nice and reasonably priced. Waitresses and bar staff were lovely. However our experience was unfortunately ruined by one staff member in particular (possibly front of house or the manager - tall and slightly bald). As soon as I entered the restaurant he didn't even greet me with a hello or a smile, but instead an abrupt, rude and moody "you only have the table until 6.45 because you're late." I explained that I had called at noon to ask if we could move our original 4.30pm booking to 5pm, which the person on the phone agreed to. He rudely replied, "well it doesn't matter you're late, you only have it until 6.45". I again explained that nobody said that would be the case, over the phone. However I was fine with that adjustment, what I was upset with was how I was spoken to and the accusation of being late. The man was very rude, unfriendly, and when I again later said we moved the booking to 5, he said "well you're still late." (We arrived at 5.02 FYI). Thankfully the rest of the staff were lovely, so we still decided to pay the service charge. He was very rude though, I walked in with a 6 month old, and he spoke to me like a child. I can't help but notice too that he didn't speak to others like that and wonder if it was because we were the only people of colour at the restaurant. Even when he gave me my order there was no eye contact or friendly smile, rather he just dropped it on the table and left. Despite my family being polite and friendly to staff and thanking them at the end, there was no friendly thank you in response or goodbye when leaving. A real shame.

Everything was great the service, food and how clean it was it was the best place to have dinner or lunch this food place not many people know about was but everyone check this place out before it becomes small because more people are coming!

Our first time here, for a family meal. Chosen partly because the offer a great range of gluten free for our grandkids and also our love of eastern Mediterranean food. We were not disappointed every item was delicious, the service perfect, not too quick or too slow, nicely paced to enjoy our meal. Will be heading back ASAP.

We just had our first meal here since new management. Absolutely recommend! The food ( special 2 course menu for £13.99!!!) was fantastic we also ordered Al a carte and that was sublime too. The staff were at tentative, polite and punctual - I will be returning! As soon as I can! Thank you all!

The background music was lovely. We were served with complimentary Turkish bread and a delicious dip. Then armed with an Aperol Spritz and a Pornstar Martini, accompanied by the polite hum of laughter and chat from other diners already there, we made our selection from a wide-ranging menu. The friendly banter and chat soon began. For our starters, two went for the shared portions of chicken on wooden skewers, prawn tempura, and marinated grilled prawns; one went for the seared scallops. The preparation and presentation were perfect: the flavours were rich and saturated your palate beautifully. Our mains consisted of a Lamb Shish, Mixed Fish Grill, and a Mixed Shish; again, the preparation was faultless with a freshness and flavour that was out of this world. This culinary brilliance was christened with a fantastic Sauvignon Blanc, which complemented our meal perfectly. There was no end to our gluttony: we found room to devour two Apple Tart Tatins and an ice cream. We concluded this debauched excellence with lemon tea, Cappuccino, black Americano, and black Sambucas including complimentary ones from our gracious hosts. Filika has proven to be a haven of friendliness, professional service, and exquisite quisine; it is definitely a civilised and hospitable place to be. Our thanks to all at Filika for the memorable dining experience, and our grateful compliments to their talented chefs for their artistry in the 'hot room'. We hope to see you all again very soon. Everything is amazing 👏 Filika 2

Went for the first time in December 2023 for a celebration and it was so good, we went a further two times in the month. The restaurant is easy to find, there is parking in the surrounding area (within 2 minutes walk max). Friendly greeting upon arrival and the restaurant is very tidy and clean. Table is cleaned between courses. Initial impression is very good with very friendly staff (especially Monty) and owner. The first occasion we had the mixed grill and sea bass which were both beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. We were brought cut pita and hummus whilst we were waiting which was lovely. We had a cocktail and Efes beer. For dessert, we had tiramisu and baklava which were both delightful. The second and third time we ate off the two course menu. Starter Dishes included falafel, cacik, aubergine ratatouille and tabbouleh. Each dish was fantastic and the plates were left clean. Main courses included the grilled chicken breast, lamb kofte, chicken burger, vegetable moussaka and sea bass. These were all served with fluffy well cooked rice and a lovely side salad. Again each dish was perfectly cooked and we were offered a small bowl of "homemade chilli" which wasn't hot but packed with flavour. Everything was cooked exceptionally well, wonderfully succulent and very tasty. Service from Monty and the others was friendly and efficient. Our one child is a coeliac and had many options to choose from and everything is clearly marked as vegetarian, vegan or gluten free. Finally the desserts of sorbet, ice cream and tiramisu were very well received and the cappuccino was excellent. This is our new favourite restaurant as it is well priced, has a friendly atmosphere, great staff and management, is clean and offers great value for money.

Fantastic restaurant, amazing service, really attentive despite being absolutely packed, and made us feel welcome and looked after. Desserts and coffee were outstanding. Starters extremely generous portions, really tender lamb and chicken. Wished everything had been slightly less sweet tasting (perhaps sugar or molasses were in all the marinades, batter and sauces?) But only a minor critique and otherwise a wonderful restaurant and highly recommend.

We went for late lunch with our grandson today. The food was hot and tasty and the staff were attentive and efficient. They tables were cleaned after every course. The proprietor was there and made sure everything was fine. We will go back another time and recommend to family and friends

We were a party of six friends celebrating a birthday and having read the excellent reviews of Filika Theydonbois thought we’d give dinner there a try. We certainly weren’t disappointed One our party the Mix grill which looked amazing and apparently tasted delicious, I had the seared scallops followed by the Mix Fish Grill and My husband had the lamb kofte delicious flavour followed by Calf’s Liver. I can’t remember what everyone else had but all the dishes were beautifully presented. The Manager Ismail and his staff were professionally and friendly, advising us on the menu and making recommendations when we asked for advice. They didn’t hover over us while we ate but were readily available if we needed anything. We all had a wonderful evening and look forward very much to returning there for our next visit.

I went for lunch with a group of 20 people after a nice walk in Epping Forest. I was very impressed, the food is the best Turkish food I've ever tasted, it's very high quality. I ordered lamb shish, I highly recommend this place and very much look forward to going back there again.

This restaurant has had 3 different names over the last two yrs. previously was excellent but i find it very odd that all meals are now served with over cooked veg instead of the usual excellent crisp turkish salads with picked red cabbage etc on the plate This is why it’s not a higher rating

Filika is an all day dining restaurant which was an amazing find for us when we explored Epping Forest from Theydon Bois. The place looks inviting and really well presented from the outside and looking at the long menu hanging outside, you would be mistaken for thinking that this place is overambitious because of the extent of what is on offer (including both a great value set 2 course lunch and 2 course dinner). Well, once inside and having ordered various dishes, we were so impressed with the quality of the food and the amazing service here (Silia behind the bar and Monty at our table and others behind the overall experience) and the speed and finesse of the cooks who offered us dish upon dish of fantastically tasty fresh food. This great value place has a lovely welcoming atmosphere, and the proximity to Theydon Bois station, this restaurant should attract, not only the locals who have not yet tried it, but also people who are visiting the area for beautiful countryside & forest walks just for the day! Two went for a shared starter of marinated grilled prawns and chicken on wooden skewers; I went for the seared scallops. They were all presented and prepared perfectly: rich in flavour and fresh. Our mains consisted of a lamb shish, mixed shish, and a mixed fish grill; again, the flavour and texture was faultless. This culinary delight was baptised with a brilliant La Serre Sauvignon Blanc, which complemented wour meal perfectly. There was no end to our gluttony this night: a shared apple tart tatin and one trio of chocolate ice cream. This gastronomic debauchery was concluded with tea, coffee, Cappuccino, and Sambucas - plus, complimentary ones from our gracious hosts. It's not only the high standard of service and cuisine, but it's the welcome and friendly chat that uplifts your dining experience to the stratosphere. Filika is a true jewel in Theydon Bois. I booked a reservation on a Saturday evening at the other location by mistake, however, the manager of this restaurant managed to find a table for us somehow. The service and the food was amazing, as always. I would give this place 10 stars if I could!

My husband and I had lunch at Filika yesterday with our friends . It's only my second visit, but bother vitists have been excellent. The lunch menu is fantastic value for money. We will be back.

Service was excellent without being overpowering and the quality of the food and the way I’m which it was prepared were both fabulous! The prices are very competitive and they have a great range of drinks at the bar including some very well made cocktails!!! All in all a really great dinner. Nice late lunch on a weekend. Relaxed atmosphere, nice set up. Food was pretty good, and the lunch offer is really worth it. Coffee was not good, quite bitter and under extracted. Ambience: a customer was on his phone on loudspeaker for most of his and our meal. This is quite obnoxious and the management should be more vigilant.

Absolutely outstanding ! Better than any local med restaurant - food was beautiful. Chicken was well cooked so juicy. Lamb was wonderful - mixed grill is a must. They have cosy corners for couples and long tables for big groups. FOOD: Amazing flavours that explodes in your mouth with every bite! You just feel happy eating their food. They serve authentic mediteranian food which is freshly made. PRESENTATION: Well, see the photos. Your eyes are full even before you taste the food. Impressive attention to details, you can tell that a lot of care has gone into preparing your food. And don't you think the blue and pink teapots are a sweet touch? SERVICE: A service with a smile. Very attentive and friendly service, nothing was too much to ask. They wiped your table clean after every course which i really liked! VALUE FOR MONEY: This is probably THE BEST (yes number 1!)
