Nice clean pub, bar staff are helpful and they have good event weekends. Not eaten there so can not comment on the food.

Visited a few weeks back for a friends party. Best alcohol under one roof. Best Guinness I have tasted in a long time.

Terrible experience definitely wouldn’t recommend due to rodents.

Myself and Girlfriend normally pop in for a drink mainly at weekends when we can, lovely staff friendly, lovely landlady Kerry and welcoming, great atmosphere whenever we are there, especially weekend with music live or DJ, people lovely who normally drink there

Best pub in waltham abbey by far

First time in years that I've been in here. Friendly landlady and staff, the Guinness is very good.

Always try to pay the Sultan a visit during my fairly regular visits to Waltham Abbey . Always good service and decent prices

This is a very friendly pub with great service and they have a good choice of drinks. There is always a fantastic atmosphere there. I love going there particularly for the live entertainment.

Visited on a Sunday evening when an Irish band were playing. Rather small area inside to watch/dance. Staff were polite

I spent over 20 years managing Pubs, I'm now a truck driver passing through. Called in the pub for a couple. Because I worked in the Industry for so long I tend be over critical. However I couldn't find fault here. Spotlessly clean and the beer was great. A proper pub.

Nice place for dancing. Need to be careful of people using toilets as doors open straight to the dance floor. Moderate prices for beers and wines.

This is a great big THANK YOU to Kerry and the staff. We chose the Sultan to hold my late husband’s wake. When speaking about the catering with Kerry she was so professional and supportive of what I required. Nothing was too much trouble for Kerry, such a likeable person!! Probably about 60 odd people attended the Wake and everyone complimented about the food. It was so, so good. Kerry brought it out at roughly half hour intervals so would still be hot and fresh to eat. The bar staff were also amazing and very polite and courteous at a difficult time for us as a family. Would definitely recommend if you need to hold any sort of party/wake etc.

Lovely friendly people and if you go on Thursday you get live music as well BRILLIANT

We sadly lost our son Russ Sat 15th 2022 and went to raise a glass to him with Friends and family at The Sultan ..Very spacious pub and love the smoking/area and safe garden for children.. x ❤

Arrived after a very long day , food had finished , but the very pleasant lady took pity on us, and done us some great pizzas and a few very much needed pints. We where really looked after and will definitely return when in the area . Many many thanks

A friendly welcome for the 3 of us visiting the area for local football, with necessary precautions at this time, especially as our intended option is only open Thurs-Sun!

I'm a CAMRA member, so I drink Real ale, they had none.

They certainly abide by the Covid rules here, upon arrival, I was told in a rude, stern manner that I was unwelcome because I wasn't wearing a mask. I put on a mask, and the big, blonde lady took an instant dislike to me and made me feel extremely unwelcome and she called me a 'tw*t'. Bearing in mind, this was the day the mask rule was introduced. If you want to pay £13 for a wine and a beer and expect abuse, this is your place. Very bad experience 👌

We visited this pub for the first time because our favourite local band, GLADRAGZ, were playing there. I asked about food in the evening and they said that they only do pizza on saturday night. We tried them and they were delicious and less than a tenner each. The drink is good, the place is clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Unfortunately we had our dear Cousins awake here, staff work very hard, lovely friendly place dogs welcome too, have a huge beer garden, reasonable prices, will visit again when weather is better.

What a horrible place, very rude staff will never go there again. Dispute with bar staff and told to pick out the ice and if you don't like it you know where to go . Disgraceful .

Great place for socialising, watching football playing pool and if you like seafood there's a seafood stall plus lots of parking space

The Sultan has very recently been taken over by a new, but very experienced licensee - Shane Kilcrann, known locally for his previous venues, i.e. The Fairways & The Old Hall Tavern, both in E4. He has brought many of his previous staff with him, so those who know them will know that the Sultan will be as excellently run as his previous establishments. The Sultan has undergone an extensive refurb inside & out, it 's now modern & comfortable, without losing any of its previous charm. Sport is shown regularly & Saturday is live music night, featuring many popular groups & admission is free. In the near future food will be served, from snacks to main courses, including daily specials & of course Shane's legendary Sunday roasts & boiled bacon & cabbage. This is a place to look out for in the near future, I'm certain it will very quickly become a destination pub.
