Was a problem with my meal, but sorted immediately and that's whst makes the difference, excellent customer service

Went for birthday drinks with the family on a Friday nite. It was like a youth club full of kids. After ordering drinks and paying for it the lady behind the bar decided to ask my 20yr old neice for ID which she had and said sorry u need to be 21. We had to leave and I asked for a refund which I still have not got after 4 days. This pub avoid full of drunk kids and rude staff

We've visited The George & Dragon a few times now and have been very impressed with the pub all-round. The staff and welcoming and provide excellent, attentive service. They have consistently provided great help with my food allergies. It's a lovely space with cosy nooks and brighter spaces, depending on your mood. Always had delicious food here and the seasonal menu provides some alternative options if you fancy a switch-up.

Great speedy service. Good quality of drinks and good price too, the food was the star of the show however, the Sunday roasts are to die for.

My husband decided last minute to have Sunday lunch at the George and Dragon. We were seated promptly, the starters & Sunday roasts were both delicious (we didn't have a pudding), and the service was both friendly and efficient.

Overrated, dry old food covered in sauce. Not a gastro pub

Don't get the pie there is nothing in it but gravy. The chicken looked pretty good the fish and chips looks great too

Went there for Easter Monday , got seated quickly , drinks promptly served. However when it came to ordering the food not so good, no pizzas or burgers available which wasn’t mentioned until after we had chosen. Why would you not tell us beforehand !? Quality of food was very good although service was slow

A slightly scruffy exterior belies a snart interior. The restaurant serves good food at a reasonable price and with staff who were friendly, attentive and eager to please.

Often, when going into a pub for a spot of lunch or dinner, one is met with a mediocre offering that frequently disappoints. However, The George and Dragon is not one of those pubs. The food is unctuous, feel-good, feed the soul, and is utterly delightful, with a wine list to match. The staff are personable, thoughtful, and cater to one's needs; Ioana saw that whatever we needed, we had. Usually, one has to catch the attention of the maître d, however, the moment we looked up from devouring our splendid plate of food, she was there catering to our needs. If you find yourself in Epping and craving food that will have you lean back in your chair with a sigh of utter satisfaction and contentment, then The George and Dragon should be the only place in your list.

Amazing service from Luke and Matt delicious Sunday roast, complimens to the chefs. Fantastic idea to have a mini dessert with cocktail or hot drink. Highly recommended.

Me and my friends , had a lovely time at the restaurant on Friday 15/03 . The food was delicious and the waiting time wasn’t long at all . Ioana our waitress was very professional and made our evening even more enjoyable than it already was . She advised us on the dessert choice and we pleased to say we are happy we asked her as they were lush . I would definitely recommend the restaurant to all my friends and family .

The food was nice & our waitress was really nice & polite plus had great sense of humour especially with big group of a family together for mothers day.

This place is lovely. The food is excellent and there's a wide array of different wines. Although, the menu says that an optional service charge is put on tabs of more than 6 people however it was put on ours which was a table of 2. I appreciate that the cost of living is difficult for a lot of people and it is for me. There's an argument to say that we shouldn't even be out if we don't feel we can afford service charge, but that feels really sad. I would have given this a 5 star however the menu does say in small lettering it is only put on groups of over 6. Again, I absolutely understand the pressure on waiting staff but to have to spend five minutes explaining that the service was fine but that the cost of living meant I couldn't tip everywhere I go, was difficult.

A lovely lunchtime experience with 4 friends. Nina was there to greet us and show us to our table and she gave us friendly and efficient service throughout our meal. The Cod and Chips were extremely good. The restaurant was busy and there was a good atmosphere. Very nice toilets!

I came to George and dragon for breakfast during half term with my two small children, Nina, our waitress was so lovely and really attentive to my two girls! The coffee was really good and food was also great. Will definitely return soon. It's so nice to find somewhere family friendly. Thank you!

My wife and I had lunch here on Wednesday 28 February. Our first ever visit here. I have awarded 2 stars overall rather than the zero stars that I was tempted to give, and the two stars are purely for our waitress who was very friendly, polite and in the main, attentive. The problem was my main course. It looked awful when placed in front of me and was all but raw. I ate two or three mouthfuls and it tasted disgracefully bad. Now fair play, when the waitress said 'How is your meal?' my wife and I pointed out it was hardly cooked, looked and tasted vile...she did immediately say 'Let me take it back to the kitchen for you and get chef to cook it some more'. I cannot fault her at all, but I declined because at that stage, I left over 75% of that dish and felt so sick from it that I couldn't face eating anything further. Whoever the head chef was this lunchtime needs firing. If he/she cooked it........how could they in their wildest dreams let something go out of the kitchen like that? If a'sous-chef cooked it...well it's still the main chef's duty to check each plate before it goes out for consumption. We decided not to have desserts, just wanted to get out of The George & Dragon. Within about 90 minutes I had griping pains in my stomach for over an hour. I cannot be certain if this was from the mainly raw food or just a psychological reaction to me sensing the taste and texture of the food in my mouth. We eat out a lot, both locally in Epping and further afield. This place ranks as the worst I have ever sampled anywhere. So, praise to the lovely Romanian waitress, but as for the rest, 'dire' doesn't sum it up. I know there are many good reviews of the G&D on TripAdvisor, but I would urge anybody who is thinking of going here to think twice, or indeed thrice, before they do so.

We visited the George and dragon for an event and had a great experience throughout. Ioana and the team were attentive, considerate and accommodating both before the event and with last minute requests on the day. The food was great and drinks were fab, and the atmosphere was lovely and personalised for our event. I'd recommend visiting.

Came for Lunch. Luke recommended the fishcakes which were brilliant. Will defo be back.

Called in at lunch at lunchtime on Friday. There were four of us. We were seated very quickly. Not of us could decide what to have. Our waitress, Nina, came to the table very quickly. She recommended the sea bass and the lamb rump. So on her recommendation we ordered two lam rumps and two sea bass. She was extremely professional and efficient and took our orders. Our food came out quickly and we were impressed by the quality. Thanks to Nina for her friendly service and her sense of humour.

Arrived for brunch, nearing the later part (as my e mail was ignored) to find we were the only customers in the whole venue. Ordered the traditional breakfast with the upgrade to large. Bacon oddly in strips but nice, sausages reasonable quality but eggs had a significant part of albumin (white) still clear and uncooked, waiter (who appeared to be the senior) promised he would feed it back. Not reflected in final bill. Toast was fascinating, toasted one side and uncooked on the other, a first for me! Partner asked for marmalade with her toast was told its not available, but he bought out a saucer with a small amount of runny honey in it, another first in 2000+ reviews. Staff ok, toilets clean. Slightly odd experience overall. It appeared we were the only brunch customers but very busy for lunch. Barmaid, maybe the manager enjoyed eating her scrambled egg at the bar. PS It's a pub/restaurant. The waiter had no idea what a St Clements was! The barmaid asked waiter if we wanted ice in our drinks, he told her yes, despite not actually asking us! Answer e mails!

Great pub and beautiful decor and fab food! But the jewel in the crown was Nina, Our waitress, so friendly and attentive ensuring we had a fabulous lunch.

Went for a Roast on recommendation and wasn’t disappointed! Fantastic Roast, staff were brilliant, price is very good. Excellent all round.

Ninea really looked after us. Her service was excellent. She is always so friendly.

We have had lunch twice recently at The George and Dragon in Epping. They have a great value lunch deal with a good selection to choose from. The waiting staff are very pleasant and there is a good size car park at the rear which customers can use free of charge once they enter their number plate on the console inside.

Really nice pub but the atmosphere always feels a little low in this pub - they have a large beer garden too which would be amazing if they invested a little money and time in making it look a little more cosy. Shame as it definitely has a lot of potential... Food menu options are good (includes vegan menu), food quality is average. Dog friendly for the bar area and outside, not in the restaurant. Sunday roasts are to die for at this place... :) Edit: they have now improved the garden with some astroturf and it looks so much nicer! The staff are always wonderful, especially Iona! ❤️

I’m not sure what’s happened to this place… no point wasting money on a refurb when the management has gone to pot is there! Since the gentleman they have had one disastrous woman after another and it’s such a shame to see ☹️ the George and dragon used to be the heart of Epping and had so much character I just don’t know what has happened but the vibe is always bad and full of rowdy characters now! Some of the staff (not all) are really unpleasant and the place is just extremely poorly managed!!! Spend your money elsewhere. There are much nicer places on epping now to be honest.

I visited the George and dragon last Saturday for lunch with my friends. The food was delicious! I particularly enjoyed the bottomless brunch. Our server, Hava, was professional and efficient with our food and drinks arriving promptly after ordering.

We've been to this place on multiple occasions and always loved it here, but must say the place has gone downhill big time! Certainly based on the recent last visit. Firstly the crowd outside having drinks were very rowdy and idiots is probably the most polite I can be of them. Whilst the venue may have little control around that, they certainly do have control of what goes on inside and it was a shambles.....broken glass on the floor, nobody really in a hurry to clear it up. I'm glad some of the staff had time to joke with each other instead to cleaning it up, attending to customers. We got to our table and ordered drinks....the clowns couldn't even get that bit right. Whilst they acknowledged they messed it up and wouldn't charge for one of the drinks, it completely set the tone for rest of the evening. It took them 20 mins to get the drink over to the table...and only after we had to get up to go to the bar and ask where it was. The food was just useless....not a single dish we had was half decent. Food absolutely bland and tasteless. If you want a decent meal in Epping, go to one of the other restaurants!

Myself and friends came for dinner and drinks and had an amazing experience. Our waitress Hava was exceptional she was so lovely throughout our time and was extremely attentive. We will visit again purely based on our experience with Hava and the exceptional food!

Ioana, was very accommodating to me and my friend upon arrival, we asked to move table which she sorted for us, and continue to ask us throughout if our food was ok, and how we were doing, and the trio dessert!!! Lovely after work meal thank you ☺️
