The George & Dragon in Epping Forest

Lovely service today by Beth, Sunday roast was delicious, quick service and a friendly smile. Unfortunately we was too full for dessert!

Came for Christmas dinner with the family, it was really wonderful! We had turkey and the pineapple dome which were incredible! The service was really good and we had a lovely dinner!

The service was good and the food was nice. However, I don't think we will come back or recommend to others because the price was far too high. This is a pub and not a restaurant and although the food was good, the quality did not match the price tag. On top of this, it feels incredibly stingy to not include chips with a veggie burger when the prices are that high.

This is our second time being served by Nina. She is absolutely lovely. The food is delicious and the service is faultless. We had a lovely time, thank you Nina and the team!

Came here in December 2024 for snacks and drinks. The whole place looked gorgeous - really fabulous ambience. The soft lighting made it feel so festive and cosy. The food was excellent, as was the wine. Everything was really good value. The staff made us feel so welcome and were very attentive. Will definitely come again.

Despite the place being more than half empty, we had a wait at least 10 minutes for someone to get our drinks order after we were seated. Wine wasn't offered to test and was of terrible quality, the water never arrived until we reminded them. Food arrived for only 3 out of 4 patrons. When we asked for the deserts menu (90 min into our seating) we were asked if 15 min would be enough before we leave, as the following reservation had already arrived. Desert arrived and the cheese platter was missing the blue cheese, an alternative was suddenly not available and was pushed to have the platter without a suitable replacement. We left within 2 hours of sitting at the table and, needless to say, we won't be coming back.

Iona was an amazing server. So friendly, helpful and managed our large table amazingly. She changed our pre-disposed ideas of a large, Christmas meal experience. Thanks so much

Iona gave me and my friend great service the whole night and was very attentive.

Very rude staff, we booked a room out for a funeral wake. Told them in advance there could be up to 100 people attending but hard to say exactly. On the day, they huffed and moaned saying we were "getting in the way" and were incredibly rude to several of our guests. They made us feel like an inconvenience. I'm just shocked really and could not recommend them on any level.

First time at this pub, food was superb, great atmosphere, waiting staff were excellent especially Bradley who knew his stuff and was fun and knowledgeable. I’

We visited with our young son at 11.45am, we were allowed to sit in the restaurant and feed our son until the kitchen opened for us to order. We were served by Nina who was lovely and played with our son and made time to chat with us and feel very welcome - thank you so much!

Booked dinner here for family visiting from abroad that wanted to experience a British pub and they were not disappointed. We were looked after by Ioana who was lovely and very attentive. The food was excellent, cooked fresh not like some chain pubs that just warm it up and everyone had good time. Highly recommended.

Lovely pub and cosy atmosphere. The only let down is staff. They are simply miserable and service appallingly slow. Tables not cleaned quick enough for when others arrive. Needs to be addressed I'm afraid. Attention to hygiene and detail needed

Another fabulous afternoon spent at The George & Dragon, Epping. A great all rounder. Welcoming, friendly, comfortable, clean. A great buzzy atmosphere as it got busier. The five of us all enjoyed our food chosen from the great value set lunch menu. Fish and chips, steak sandwich, gammon steak, egg and chips, goat’s cheese salad. All lovely, fresh and very tasty Fantastic attentive service from Nina and helper, who went out of their way to make sure we were looked after. Look forward to our return

Lovely Sunday roast and great service from Ioana

The food here is amazing! The Sunday roast is 10/10 and GF menu is great too. Service is excellent. Our host Ioana was so lovely and very attentive. Definitely going to be back to this cosy pub

We had reserved a room for a pre-wedding dinner for 21 people, the staff were excellent, especially Ioana, who looked after us. She made sure to keep the food warm for us as some of our group were delayed, she prepared a special table for the happy couple and even had their names on a screen. It was a fantastic evening and we even rebooked the same room for Sunday lunch!

Ioana was an amazing host! Lovely food and a lovely atmosphere (yummy wine too), we will definitely be coming back, especially after a glimpse of their festive menu!

Just two staff, Ioana & Luke, running the dining rooms. Both were so, so helpful and couldn’t have been more attentive. Superb service!

Stopped by for some lunch today, and the food was delicious. As a group of 3, we had clean plates all round. We were served by the lovely Nina, who is a credit to this pub. So welcoming and kind, this type of service is hard to come by. We'll be back 🙂

Lovely little pub and the foods always surprisingly good

Went for a lovely meal here the food was absolutely beautiful but the service we recieved from Ioana was amazing, she went above and beyond to ensure we had a lovely time. we didnt need to wait long for anything and nothing was to much trouble shes an absolute credit to your restaurant staff Thank you for a wonderful evening Ioana.

A place I loved going to in 1987, a superb pub, with lots of good memories and I hope to come to this place one day.

Cannot fault this place! Amazing food and service. Ioana our server was so lovely, and took her time to explain the menu and accommodate our requests. We had the steak and it was soooo juicy and tender. Brownie and creme brûlée were a hit too. As was the sticky chicken starter. Highly recommend!

Went to dinner and was asked about allergies. The chef amended a dish to suit, but unfortunately, it was not as both I and the chef anticipated. The dish was exchanged for a delicious fish dish at no additional charge. The waiter was attentive and very friendly. To top it all, they reduced the bill, too, even though there was no need to. Excellent food with fantastic service. Highly recommend

Iona was brilliant. Couldn't fault her service. The food was also great. However the rest of the servers weren't good. Food didn't come out on time. There was a used tissue stuffed in the ketchup bottle and they wouldn't let use move table even though one of us had a bad back and there were lots of better chairs available. Not a hard request considering we spent nearly £300.

Had a fabulous time at the Taylor swift themed bottomless brunch! Entertainment was great, food and drink were great and service was lovely. Beth organised a lovely afternoon! Would 100% recommend and would definitely return for events in future. Thank you!!

Perfect Sunday roast. Food tasted amazing, kids portion were also a good size. Their trio meat option was perfect. Only reason for dropping a star was gravy was quite watery. Free Parking available but we didn't know so parked in nearby council office car park. Beautiful pub nestled in the high street. Lovely inside but the outside needs a little bit of work. Overall I would recommend for a great place to eat with the family.

Sunday roast. Great food, bubbly waitress but the tall barman was quite rude to us, both my husband and I noticed it. We were only going to ask about our table booking but he blanked us, then was really offhand. Maybe he was having a bad day but not what you do in hospitality. He could just have said 'Sorry I will be with you in a minute'. UPDATE: In their defence, they got back to me but have no wish to get anyone into trouble so prefer not to help them identify him. He may have been having an off day.

Our local football club meet here regularly- Epping Foresters FC. We are always well looked after by Iona and her team. Great Vibe.
