Sunday lunch served by the most attentive and friendly staff you could ever imagine. Food was really great and the best cauliflower cheese I have ever tasted and I’ve eaten a lot of cauliflower cheese in my life. Don’t even hesitate to add it as a side dish. It’s divine.

Such a pretty quaint pub in Fiddlers Hamlet Epping. Was a bit apprehensive as was told it food wasn’t great, but I’m a real fussy foodie and have to beg to differ as thought the food was absolutely delicious. Service was pleasant too. I would say it was very quiet for a Saturday night. But maybe people are scaling back in the run up to Xmas. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The apple and cinnamon sponge cake was a big big winner. Would definitely go back as have heard they do a great Sunday roast and their burgers are said to be fab too.

Had a really lovely Sunday roast lunch at the Merry Fiddlers for my husband's birthday, wonderful food, excellent service, Ellie and her team were brilliant at helping organise everything - cant fault.

Absolutely perfect roast, fudge brownie could have been better, cool quirky restaurant, bar area shabby and grubby looking. Nice staff.

Very surly bar staff who seem to look like they were somewhere else. Good menu shows prices without service charge. When mentioning this on delivery was told in a gruff manner it's added automatically. Thought this was law! On mentioning this and others addressed to venue on their website this was ignored. I would in turn suggest you ignore this pub who seem to ignore customer service! There's places out there who appreciate your custom.

I had a Buy a Gift voucher that I booked to use at this establishment...for last week 23/8/24...my voucher was valid until today 28/8/24, I followed instructions on the voucher exactly, and yet when I spoke, and in emails between us they just kept saying that my voucher had been already booked, to which I replied YES...booked with YOU for today, as per instructions on the Voucher. They were, I felt, extremely rude and unhelpful, my friend and I went somewhere else to eat, as we decided we would not want to eat there with the attitude we had received on the phone. It seems my Voucher is now invalid, and I will be reporting to Buy a Gift, as I believe The "Fiddlers" could have cashed in my voucher, despite the the fact we never set foot in the door 😡

I had the best time ever it was a fantastic day and I could not have wished that it went any better thanks to you and your wonderful team. Johnny was a delightful young man and could not if he had tried been any more helpful and hardworking. What a star in the making. Lovely young man. The food, venue, drinks, service, atmosphere and staff were amazing. The kids play area was an added bonus they had the best time which meant so did the parents. You and your team are all certainly a credit to the Merry Fiddlers pub. Roy should be very proud of you all. I will be recommending Merry Fiddlers to everyone. We enjoyed an afternoon tea with lovely scones, cakes and sandwiches. We were given 4 different sandwiches consisting of salmon, ham, tomato and cheese and cucumber plus scones with cream and jam, and a selection of mini cakes with cheesecake, cupcakes, tiramisu, tart and brownie plus coffee/tea and lovely champagne. I think some of the cakes could have been a little bit better and they lacked the flavour but overall it was great.

We were disappointed with our lunch at The Merry Fiddlers. Firstly the decor is so confusing, nothing marries together. It’s mock shabby chic with old country pub? Very sticky tables in bar area. Menus were given however burger menu was not. We asked and were given it. The food was ok but prices were high. Service wasn’t great if I’m honest. Service charge was added to bill, really? Won’t be returning.

We had a lovely time. We ordered the Sunday roast beef dinner with all the trimmings and it was delicious. Staff were very pleasant and attentive.

This was a great afternoon tea in a charming pub. The afternoon tea was all fresh, the scones were still warm and tasted amazing. Flavour wise, the sandwiches and cakes were very good. Dog friendly, we even got to meet one of the staff's cute dog that has his own bar stool! I would happily eat here again, the staff made us feel very welcome.

We went to this pub during the week for dinner at 6.30pm When we arrived the restaurant was completely empty. We should have taken this as a sign but didn't and sat down to order. I told the waitress that I had a garlic intolerance and she noted this. We both ordered the king prawns to start, one with garlic, one without, starter portions were £14. When it came there was 3 butterfly prawns not very large. Tasted okay but really not worth £14 portion. We ordered the mains before the starters, we both ordered cod. The waitress waited until the starter plates were cleared then came to say they only had one portion of cod. I bit concerning considering how empty the restaurant was. I ordered the trio of lamb, she came back 10 minutes later to say as I have a garlic intolerance, two parts of the lamb were already made and may have garlic in, another concern as when you are paying £25 for a meal you would expect it to be cooked fresh. She said I could have the lamb 'best ends' by itself which I agreed to. The lamb came up as 4 tiny lamp chops!!! The lamb chops were so fatty and by the time I cut all the fat off there was hardly nothing left. We had had enough by this time and asked for the bill and was astonished to see the bill was £139. We had a bottle of wine plus one beer plus a glass of wine. To add insult to injury she didn't reduce the cost for the lamb, not serving the trio but only one part, the chops, she actually added £2 to that meal making it £27. When I questioned this she said oh yes and took the £2 off. My husband also said the cod was very dry, 0vercooked and tasteless. Possibly left there whilst waiting for my lamb. Who knows? There is no way this restaurant/pub can charge this sort of money for the experience we had. No wonder the restaurant was empty on a Wednesday evening. The food looks nothing like the pictures they post on social media. We will not return and you take a risk of a very large bill for a very poor experience if you go.

I want to just give a huge thank you to Ellie for helping us book and plan the most perfect engagement party at The Merry Fiddlers. Also a big thanks to Maddie, Jonnie, Rebecca, Shona and Jadella who were nothing but helpful all night, from setting up to serving all of our guests. All staff were so helpful and friendly during the whole process, the venue is beautiful and the food was great! Look forward to having our next event here!

Booked an afternoon tea through Groupon. What an absolute delight! Very welcoming, great price, delicious food and a lovely setting. The inside decor is delightful. Love the mix and match cups and saucers. Would definitely recommend.

The manager is such a rude person, I ordered a roast dinner not on a Sunday which was showing available on just eat, 35 minutes later I get a rude phone call to say they can’t do it as it’s not Sunday, I said ok no worries please refund, she then sarcastically said have a brilliant weekends and hung the phone up. Don’t advertise roast dinners on just eat if they are not available unless it is Sunday! Will never use these again!

Stopped off chace while out food great and service to much puts to shame these poncy places that charge to earth for something that might look good but leaves you wanting the nearest burger joint once you finished well worth a visit

We had an excellent late evening meal (burger) with lovely appetisers. The service was perfect. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Beautiful and well maintained pub. Definitely worth a visit. We will return!

Not a great afternoon tea. Not enough cream or jam, scones falling apart, we advised of allergies and they included macaroons which are made with Almond flour, cakes falling apart. Not great sandwiches either. A shame we can't recommend. Got it on a voucher. Nice setting Friendly staff

Sorry to say it's not worth visiting here for afternoon tea! Having booked this three months prior, I was hoping we would be seated in the main room, but we were in the bar. The best thing about the experience was the cute dog with three legs on a chair by the toilets. However, the food, by normal standards, was not good. The sandwiches were hard and poorly filled, the pastries and cheesecake were undercooked and overly sweetened, and by far the most disappointing was the clotted cream for the flat, small scone, which I'm not convinced was cream at all and may have been sour, miniscule butter. Also, very strangely, a staff member came and sat at the table next to us to work on their computer while facing us. We were a family of six celebrating a birthday. Yes, we should have complained, but we all kept our disappointment to ourselves until we left so as not to upset me since it was my birthday. There was a lot leftover simply because it was quite inedible. By the way, I picked up the bill, as I couldn't let my relatives pay for this. The service was very slow but friendly, and they didn't bring a menu or a tea selection over.

Merry fiddlers is a quaint pub, but needs a makeover, the outside looks a mess, the entrance and the path from the car park wasn’t great, as I use crutches it was very uneven and not great to walk on. Inside we were shown to our table, decor was ok Sandwich’s were nice but set menu no choice, the One scone each was ok but warmed and pre cut so was drying out a bit, there was one very very small pot of non descript jam and the same size of cream which certainly wasn’t clotted, so it was really enough for one scone definitely not two The cakes were 1 inch squares of cut off ends of larger cakes. The nicest things were the tasty strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, which were scattered around. We asked for another pot of tea, which we were told that it was only 1 pot per voucher and we had to pay for a second, we were very surprised, but still wanted as we still had cakes left we needed tea with. Having to pay for the extra tea only meant the waitress didn’t get a tip I wonder that if we had paid full price would we have had better cakes etc, on the site it does show macaroons and bigger cakes.

The four of us really enjoyed our Sunday lunch here. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was great. It's not the largest of pubs, so seating can be a little compact, but it's a pleasant space and atmosphere nonetheless. The only thing I would fault was baby changing facilities and toilets. Toilets were a little small and not very clean, and I had to occupy the ladies' toilet to change my baby on the edge of a large sink, which isn't ideal. Food was great, I'd definitely recommend!

Food was very good, but we had a very long wait between courses. Nice white table cloths and attentive staff. This used to be a proper English drinking pub and many years ago we always met on a Sunday morning here. It used to be an attractive, well kept and attractive pub . No longer! Needs a complete make-over outside, re-decoration, a proper tidy! Looks dreadful and not appealing at all when you arrive. Shame.

Nice setting, friendly staff. Afternoon tea itself could be better: Sandwiches OK but chunky, limited flavours, I wouldn't recommend cucumber and butter as an option in wholemeal bread. Better to go with something like egg and cress. Scones small, way too little jam of low quality and insufficient cream. A tiny pot like the Tiptree jam pot size is not sufficient for two people. Scones with sultanas would be better. The scones were precut and part of the problem is that some of the scones were disintegrating as a result. The petit fours and macaroons - in we emailed to say we have nut allergies thus the macaroons not a sensible choice to include as they are made with almond flour. The petit is four were clearly cakes cut to small so falling apart, low quality. Inclusion of fruit: strawberries, blueberries and raspberries was nice. Overall nice location, nice staff but poor execution of the afternoon tea sadly. No offer of refreshed pot of tea, extra milk etc.

Absolutely amazing. The place was very nicely decorated, the staff were very attentive and friendly and the food was so flavoursome and big in potion size. There was 2 of us, we had starters, mains, desserts and a bottle of wine, which came to around £120, which we thought was great value. Hats off to all at The Merry Fiddlers 👏🏻 Would and will be highly recommending.

We booked a dome as we had family in town and wanted to make it special. We were looked after by young Jonny who went out of his way to give us a memorable time, so friendly and attentive, he really made the experience great.. The whole meal was a triumph and we will keep coming back there as it simply is a great experience. Try the dome experience, it's worth the £25 and if you're lucky to get Jonny as your server, you won't be disappointed.

We had a Surprise 60th Birthday lunch here for my husband. There were 14 of us including 2 small children...the area we were given, the layout of the table, the staff, the food, the atmosphere, the whole experience here at this lovely pub was exceptional...I cannot recommend enough! First time visiting The Merry Fiddlers, for a family 60th lunch. I'm not local to the area, though most of the family are...what a fantastic place! From the moment we walked through the door, we received nothing but smiles and wonderful service from each and every one of the staff, and were made to feel very welcome throughout. There were 14 of us, and everyone had a great time. The food was sensational, and the portions extremely generous. As too, was the complimentary pre-starter. I personally didn't have a starter, but from what I saw, they all looked and tasted beautiful. For main, I had the roast lamb and was not disappointed. Great idea serving Best End instead of traditional slices from a joint. The meat was succulent and so full of flavour. Complimented by a huge selection of perfectly cooked vegetables and a huge Yorkshire pudding, again perfectly cooked. Roast potatoes to die for. Even though I'm not a "big eater", I tirelessly worked my way through the whole thing. Hands down, the best roast I've ever eaten. And I'm a fussy one, when it comes to roasts haha! I know that I speak for everyone in our party, that there was not a single grumble about anything that we ate or drank. A rarity these days, especially with my 84 year old Dad along for the ride. He loved it! Thank you, from all of us, for the perfect experience. You were all so very patient with us, nothing being too much trouble - it was definitely worth the 4 hour round trip, and I hope to return again soon. Wonderful staff, wonderful atmosphere and wonderful food!

Lovely early Sunday dinner-nice to be able to get a roast later in the day. As always, great food with nice little touches inc. free pre appetiser, offer of extra gravy, sauces throughout the meal etc. Very considerate towards our fussy teen. Nice to see our local pub consistently maximising on new opportunities and doing them all well-take a look at their website. Friendly and family-run.

All bling no substance. Imagine the only way is Essex. If you like that sort of thing then this pub is for you . I cannot rate food as we had none I've given 5 Stars for service and they were efficient but a smile would not go amiss .

Booked here for my daughters moving to Dubai party. From the beginning everyone was so helpful, took all the stress away from me. Everything on the night was fab, the surroundings, the staff, the food and the DJ. It’s so pretty there. We had an amazing night, thanks so much to Maddie, Jasper, Johnny, Jadella, Shona and Rebecca for everything. We got a grazing platter for 30 and it would have fed probably 50! It looked absolutely beautiful; I will put some pics up after. We also got some mini burgers, delicious 😋 can I also say they’re not actually that mini, they’re quite substantial! It was also brilliant that we had our own toilets; a bonus. The dj was fab, we had a mix of mums and dads and the rest early 20 year olds, he read the room so well and everyone had a great dance. I think he he DJs there a lot. Thanks so much to Ellie and the team, it really couldn’t have gone any better xx

Had a birthday dinner there 4/1/24 for 8 of us, we were actually the only ones in the restaurant (to close to Xmas I guess) but the food was really good the young man who served was so lovely after the meal we sat in the bar area for a complementary drink with the owner all in all a very lovely evening!!

Roasts are unbelievable...We booked for xmas day a family of 10 what a lovely day we had the service was amazing, the atmosphere the friendly staff WOW,WOW,WOW. We had lovely home made sausage rolls as an appetiser they was AMAZING!!!! We had welcome prosecco drinks! It was a lovely day enjoyed by all. We will booking next year once the waiting list is open. We supposed to have a nice Christmas meal and happy time in this “amazing place” what turned to a hell for us.Christmas dinner been reserved months ago and seems to be lost somewhere, we been waiting for hour and when we lost passion for waiting and asked manager when we will get our table, they said they can’t leave a bar as it’s not enough staff , basically we had to fight to get a table on our Christmas Day and they gave our table to someone else so they gave us a separate tables so whole group of family cans celebrate Christmas together. After that they gave to one table some canapé but totally forgot about another table, after 2 hours of waiting for someone actually come and take our food orders we gave up and left.What a happy Christmas! Really? I’m speechless, I’ll never come back to this place, whatever food you serving, you ruin our Christmas Day!I'm not recommending this place for Christmas or any events as they can ruin your special day!

Booked a Dome at The Merry Fiddlers in September for our daughters 30th in December. All started well dome was nicely decorated and cozy warm, And Bluetooth speaker connected this was 7.30pm……orders were taken all from the set menu. 2 hours later and 4 rounds of drinks down we received our starters. According to the lovely young lady’s serving us the chef hadn’t turned up. When the main meals did eventually arrive (10.30) the Yorkshire puddings were still frozen (yes frozen not just cold) it was then the stand in manager was called, to be fair offered us a round of drinks which half of us declined as we had already been sat there drinking for 3 and a half hours. On leavening he offered a discounted bill and a half hearted apology but to be honest the shine was already missing from the whole evening. Such a shame because what started so well ended disappointing.

Fantastic food inside a beautiful dome. Great venue with the jonus of private domes in the garden. Very helpful staff, Casper was more than attentive and friendly. Had our own music and a great time, been before, been again and will be back!

Went for afternoon tea, the tea was served quite some time before the food, tea was one small pot enough for 1 cup each,there was no sugar on the table, we hade to get it from other diners that where leaving, no napkins with the food fortunately we had some tissue with us. Our tea had gone cold before we were halfway through the food. No offer of another pot of tea was offered even if we had to pay for it, it would have been nice. The big problem was there was only one member of staff (that we saw) for the whole pub. We bought this afternoon tea through Groupon and would never go there again!

We’ve eaten there several times over the last few years and every time the food seems to go up another level. Stunningly presented and amazing flavours.

The food was excellently prepared and presented with decent sized portions and full of flavours. All in a fantastic looking building which added to a great ambience. Enjoyed an amazing afternoon tea here, the sandwiches were amazing as were the scones, pastries and cakes promptly served by friendly and obliging staff, chose the tea without proscetto option and wasn't disappointed, plenty of tea provided.Great atmosphere, lots of attention to detail and very clean decor. Plenty of free parking alongside. Highly recommended and we will be returning to sample the Sunday roast.

We went here for afternoon tea with friends on a vochure code deal... well we were not disappointed..the place is wonderful? The decor is fabulous, the food is fresh and very tasty and attention to detail is made. We were frequently asked if we need any more tea/ coffee etc and if everything was ok and did we need anything further. The staff were very polite and helpful...in fact we enjoyed it so much we have booked for Christmas Dinner party night....10/10 would recommend. Thank you all the staff at The Merry Fiddlers

Finally somewhere has got it right! 100% Amazing ""pub"" food, better than what you'd expect without trying to be something it's not. Prompt friendly staff. Very reasonable prices. Comfortable seats! Simple ingredients blended in such a way to make amazing dishes. After talking to one of the waiters, we discovered everything is cooked from scratch. one of the best meals ourt we've ever had."

My sister had chicken main which was as expected. They both had brownie dessert which was more fondant than rock hard dry brownie which is a good thing in my book. Well worth a visit.

We had my mother in law s wake , it was set out beautifully, they placed a photo of her with candles and crystals with rose petals, they did a hight tea , sandwiches, cake , she would be looking down so happy , Tom the owner, came to pay his respects, extremely grateful that a sad day was made in to something so beautiful for her , thank you Julie and mick

Kid friendly or trying their best to be kid friendly, the place is usually so busy, you just have to squeeze the buggy, etc in where ever there is a gap, and make sure your toddler drinks someone's drink.

Nice service and the toilet is really nice. We will be back again.

They have a very tasty beef wellington at a very good price. The food at The Merry Fiddlers is very good. I will be back again.

E was asked to call ahead and the chef said he'd make me anything, I said he was cold surprised. And surprise may he did! The food was amazing!

Went a few times and the food and service are always excellent! That is cream chicken and spicy chicken.
