It is a lovely pub with a nice beer garden. And a lot of tvs big and small . Lovely experience and nice . Pub is good for younger people has a pool table and darts.

Place full of drunk middle aged men trying to sing. Place is a dive never going back. Please never waste your time going to this pub.

This is the worst venue in the area, I wasn't even in the pub - I am sitting in my kitchen which is on Darby Drive and I can hear the ghastly noise as if they were in front of me, I have a hallway and a living room between me and the window on sun Street. It is ridiculous EVERY weekend we are subjected to this incessant noise WHEN THE PUB HAS A FUNCTION ROOM at the back of the building, USE IT.

I haven’t even been IN the pub but they’re so bloody loud I can hear them as if I’m sat right next to them. Friday night and Saturday night they do Karaoke, and they’re ridiculously loud right up until 11pm. It wouldn’t be half as bad if they could actually sing, but they’re wailing into the microphone with no consideration to the families that live in this residential area. The lack of respect from this pub is ridiculous

We've just had a really nice takeaway pizza, I recommend it! The service has also been perfect! Enjoy!

My daughter bkd a 21st party here quite a while back for 31st August, they took her money and just gave her a day notice they are closing! Yes closing. She only got a small proportion of her money bck from the woman that was supposed to be doing the food, she is now left out of pocket and no venue for a party. I should make it clear as far as I know the DJ is independent! I visited here myself with my fiancé and younger daughter a couple of weeks ago for a normal pub visit hoping to get some lunch, we were surprised when from the start of walking in there the vibes i got were not good at all, they said.. they weren’t doing food at all and the choice of drinks ‘if you could call it that’ was very poor and that’s being generous. The chap that served us was irish or Scottish, not the right vibe you want to receive when walking into a pub, it’s such a shame because it’s quite a nice old building. All i can say is ‘BEWARE, do not go to this place even if it does re open.

Have eaten here twice now, last time was late eve and very busy. This time was quiet. Lovely staff and amazing food. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend a visit.

I can't comment on the food but the pub is a much, much nicer place to be under the new management. It's becoming a valuable part of Sun Street's evening 'cosmopolitan quarter'. There's not much in the way of ales and proper ciders but it's fine for standard stuff.

Got to say Lee is doing a sterling job! The Pub is no longer clicky. The servers are professional (and thinking they are your mate cause we are in the same town) A real nice laid back pub. Not stuffy. Very relaxed. No idiots in there. Keep up the good work!!

Was directed to this pub by a local and was very surprised by the friendly staff and the really fresh local food. Not expensive and is created with love and attention.

I go to this pub every Friday for the music and every Wednesday for a great quiz its fun and just love it. Won £120 once so lets hope I win again. Also do food and only eaten there 2 times but was very good yes a good pub.

Popped in here on Sunday lunchtime for a beer. Not been here before and pleasantly surprised! Lovely young barmaid served us. Pub looked neatly painted and the loos were spotless! Really enjoyed our drink and highly recommend and will be back.

what a little gem first time there for a sunday roast roast lamb and not lamb shank like most pubs loads of meet very tasty and tender, home made roast spuds, parsnips carrots, peas, cabbage and a large portion of cauliflower cheese and extra gravy in a boat without asking great value £12 will be back to try the other meats beef,pork and chicken great food and value. well done to all the new owners will be back again soon...

A friend and I had a beautiful roast dinner here, we well and truly got our money's worth massive portions and great quality. (It's also nice to know this establishment is using other local business, we was told the meat was from the butchers across the road). All staff seemed friendly, helpful and approachable. Would definitely recommend and will return. Well done to the new owners who have given this pubic house a new lease life after many years of a bad reputation.

Probably the worst food I've ever had. Burnt, cheaply prepared, starter and main came together. Would not bother again. They have not made the most of the garden either. Slow service, all round disappointing.

Venue was quiet, clean and had a subtle character. The venue had music but it was not overbearing which allowed conversation. Staff were polite, friendly and attentive but importantly did not rush us. Visited Waltham Abbey as it was where my father was brought up. Me and my father both had the 3 cheese lasagne which was very hot and of a generous proportion. Both portions came with a large portion of salad and 2 slices of Italian bread. The lasagne was obviously freshly made. Price was very reasonable at £9 a plate. Also price for all the other dishes on the menu were reasonable too. Did not have dessert as our meal was more than filling enough. The only downside is that unless there was a separate dessert menu I could see no option except under the children's' menu but this could also mean I did not look hard enough.

I went here during the day with freinds and had a lovely meal. We ended up staying, and it gets quite lively in the evening. Nice atmosphere, and friendly staff

Fuimos a waltham abbey para ver la iglesia (lugar desde el año 700) donde el Rey Harold (derrotados por Guillermo el Conquistador en 1066) se supone que está enterrado. Hermosa iglesia antigua, entrada gratuita también, gente muy agradable. Desde allí fuimos a esta encantadora ciudad pequeña del mercado, y encontramos el Hostal del Sol. No sabíamos nada, pero parecía agradable y también anuncia el "beer garden". Fuimos a consultar, y el Frente de la casa, Cheryl (dice que es sólo una camarera pero ella parecía tratar con todo) era tan delicioso que decidimos almorzar. Tuve la hamburguesa hecha en casa, de una gran parte, y todos recién hechos, mi esposa tenía el casero gruesas lonchas de jamón y ensalada con pan integral, de nuevo, una generosa porción, y probamos su cerveza Amber Ale (el Doombar estaba delicioso, mi esposa tenía lager, como siempre). Cheryl era cortés, servicial y eficiente. El total llegó a 20 libras. Al estar acostumbrados a los precios de Londres parecía increíble relación calidad-precio, teniendo en cuenta que es, sin duda, un lugar turístico. Sin duda lo recomiendo, fácil de llegar desde Londres en coche. Yo no sé nada sobre el transporte público para llegar allí. Hay mucho que hacer cerca, de parques, Royal Gunpowder funciona, y un mercado de la calle en los días de mercado. Sobresaliente para mí. Bien hecho y el Sol Inn Cheryl!

Had a few pints in the garden. Pleasant ladies behind the bar (could crack a smile but no complaints otherwise) The garden was clean and safe for my friend's one year old daughter. Beer was cold...happy days.

Gran servicio, bien cuidado. Se realizó un pequeño problema con nuestra orden con magníficamente. Bonita habitación separada para los comensales y el personal muy amable y servicial. Nos encantaría volver de nuevo.

Very good food, will recommend to anyone. Bar girl (dark hair in late 30's) try to avoid, attitude and moody. The bosses are a very nice couple, genuine and glowing

15 of us booked on the off chance, wasn't expecting much! Wow, what a surprise. The waitress Emma was fabulous. She managed 4 separate tabs, remembering which child belonged to which family, giving recommendations for food, chatting to the kids, she really made it for us! The food was great too huge portions, and such a choice! Would highly recommend.

When visiting this pub, I found the staff very welcoming and friendly, the drinks and food were priced reasonably, overall my time here was enjoyable and would highly recommend this pub to anyone

Me and the missus had a flying visit through Waltham abbey, decided to drop in the sun for something to eat, the staff were very welcoming and up for a good laugh and the food itself was nothing short of great especially for the time it took to serve. Highly recommended, will definitely stop by next time I'm in the abbey.

This absolute gem has been taken over by a fantastic couple that have put their entirety into the portrayal of a 5 establishment; 'The Sun Inn' has gone from "zero to hero" thanks to a lot of TLC and proud, caring and responsible Landlords. Please try this new and reformed diamond and you will not look back. I am not an employee or any form of connection to 'The Sun Inn' but pleased to see some positive happenings within Waltham Abbey.

This place is spot on now; total refurbishment and new Landlords who are very welcoming; first conversation and you feel like you've been mates your whole life. Nice to have nice people with an establishment in The Abbey. Food, drink, atmosphere and entertainment is 100% - 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

First visit and the landlords were really friendly. Was told pub had just had a refurb and it looks lovely. Food looked delicious so will definitely come back to try that out xx

My K9 friend and I were here and had a great afternoon. We both enjoyed our meals. The staff was attentive , yet not bothersome. A friendly atmosphere and nicely decorated. The food was excellent; with balanced meal and filling.

Popped in for lunch on a saturday and didnt have the best experience.Went into the resturant where the waitress took out order, us and another three people were the only people in the resturant. Took half an hour to come.. l had ordered a cheese sandwich and my partner had a burger. Food was very average and my sandwich was on the wrong bread,ordered some chips which never arrived, cutlery wasnt even put on our table its the little things.. our bill wasnt even on the system when someone eventually cashed it through. If it was a busy rush hour lunch I could understand more but it wasnt and unfortunately we came out feeling very dissapointed.

We visited The Sun Inn on Saturday & were made to feel really welcome. They have had a recent total refurb & the pub looks amazing! Great Landlord & Landlady & the staff are lovely. Thank you for a lovely visit. We will definately be back

Myself, my partner and friends visited this pub for its official relaunch after a full refurbishment and take over by new landlords.A beautiful old pub which has been refurbished to a really high standard with a great selection of drinks, a big courtyard garden and a huge function/dining room.The new landlords are really lovely and welcoming and more than happy to chat to everyone and introduce themselves. They are so enthusiastic about the pub itself and offering something of a really good quality to the area and you can't help but feel really comfortable here.Can't wait to go back once the kitchen is open as the menu looks lovely!

The Sun has reopened after a refit and is looking good. Visited for business and was impressed with the range, the pub and the staff. Definitely worth a visit

The staff running the pub are fairly nice people.I booking some tables for a meal before and found out they hasn't prepared anything until I warned them at the last minute. They did manage to get everything in order though.The food however was very good for the price and I would have it again.The pub doesn't accept card payments. There is a Barclays nearby so it isn't too bad, just inconvenient. There isn't a great deal of seating or comfort in the pub either.The gents loos really need a seeing too as well.

Friendly pub very welcoming in high street of lovely little town .big beer garden and cheap drinks well cheaper than other pubs in town .didnt eat in there but may to nrxt time.

Came here with friends, lovely food and nice atmosphere service also perfect in fact I might celebrate my birthday here.
