The best restaurants in Colchester East of England

We went to Milsoms on our 59th Wedding Anniversary though we did not mention this. Initial greeting and drinks service quite prompt and our food order was taken. Alas we were fed up with waiting as it took over an hour for 2 curries to arrive. Overpriced and mediocre, we decided not to spend any more money with them. As we left, my husband complained about poor service and were surprised to be told it was our imagination and it was 1/2 hour only.As we are not youngsters, perhaps they thought we had dementia. No apology and no money off and the arrogant manager seemed quite pleased with himself.Alas, we will not be visiting again. About 16 plates of food were ferried past where we were sitting. I rest my case.

Fantastic. The building is full of character and boasts one of the most charming interiors of any weatherspoons. Be sure to look out from the stage area and see how many famous faces you can name. Good prices, and decent staff. The kitchen is usually pretty quick, but can be hit and miss with the porridge and rhamen bowl (bit too much water). That aside, very good place, and always busy.

Aimee, thank you for making our bottomless brunch so lovely. You had a bar full of people and you worked so hard to make our celebration so special. You are part of our memory now. Thank you to the chefs for amazing food and everyone else who worked so hard too. Xxxx

We not only popped in every day for a delicious beer but also had a lunch in this pub. The food was freshly prepared and very tasty. The staff here were all very friendly and helpful. We will visit this pub again when next in the area.

***** NO WONDER THIS PLACE IS CLOSING DOWN ***** Paid for a taxi to have breakfast only to find they have no chef and no staff and greeted by an unapologetic receptionist. Can’t find this anywhere on their website, met another gentleman standing in the Carpark after also booking a taxi for breakfast. DO NOT BOTHER WITH BEEFEATER AS A WHOLE COMPANY IF THEY HAVE SUCH LITTLE REGARD FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS.

Went through the drive through today (3 April, 3:30pm). The drink (Frappuccino with cream) was given overfilled and not properly closed, it was spilling out and there was no way to close it. Spilled all over the front of the car while I was trying to close it trying to stop the sticky leaking but made 100 times worse. The car was a sticky wet mess!

delivery took 2hrs 20mins but was told 1 hr. Food cold. Not ordering again from here. Ruined xmas eve.

This place is such a lovely place to eat. the food is fantastic and the staff are brilliant.they make you most welcome and they work very hard. it is such a shame you are closing your doors for good you will be very missed. Irene and Jack Whittle.

A strange experience. When we arrived, we didn’t get shown to a table and were told to just sit anywhere. The waiter didn’t seem interested in taking anyone’s order and we had to get his attention numerous times to be served. There also seemed to be some staff meeting going on in the middle of the restaurant which made us feel like we weren’t supposed to be there. The food came quick enough once ordered but was cold unfortunately.

Hi, I just wanted to leave a review as I had food poisoning last night after collecting and eating half a large meteor pizza around 6pm and suffered with the symptoms of bad diarrhoea, fever and vomiting from 2-4am in the middle of the night, i know it was this as i didn't eat anything else yesterday that could have affected me that way and afterwards (this morning) i feel fine, so it wasn't a stomach bug or anything like that - i highly doubt it but you can't prove it obviously. Clearly it either wasn't cooked properly or it was contaminated somehow. I will not be buying domino's pizza in the future and definitely not from this particular place if i ever do.

Had a great time here on Saturday night, good vibe and staff were lovely. Drinks were good value for money too! Thank you!

Lovely Sunday roast dinner Friendly staff. . Good portion size and choice of vegetables. Price was reasonable for the quality of food. Like most places now, they add an optional service charge to the bill.

Waited a very long time. Food is sub par and one item didn't even come out after 1hr and a half. Even asked twice and they said it won't be long. Ended up getting a refund. Would probably not come back

Every time I go to this McDonalds I am more disappointed. They don’t know the meaning of what fast food should be. The staff all seem to stand around talking all day so no wonder they’re so slow. The milkshake machine is never working. I had to ask where my order was and it had been ready for five minutes so cold - they hadn’t served me it because the milkshake I had ordered wasn’t available - when were they going to tell me that if I hadn’t asked? I don’t expect a lot from a McDonalds and yet this still manages to be well below my expectations
