Beast of a place. Ask for Cory. He knows his stuff. He helped me with food and drinks. And really made my time the best. A good vibe and. A place to visit certainly in. Colchester.

I went out with Friends for the weekly Karaoke night, was served by Haydn, whose always very friendly and welcoming! I had an encounter with a guy who was making me feel uncomfortable, Haydn spotted this and when no door staff were around he was quick to sort the situation out, for which I was really appreciative for! I always feel safe and welcomed when he's working, he's a credit to the business! All the staff are lovely here!

haydn was our barman/waiter today and was amazing , helped out a lovely disabled gentleman , was so kind and patient a complete gentleman

I was served by Hayden and Silviu, I am most pleased with the service I received, these guys are the main reason I return! Very happy and nothing is too much for them! Keep up the good work!

I went in the 4/11/23 for a night out with my fiance and it was a good night bouncers were fun and great to talk to, I also had one barman who was really good with me (haydn) great customer service, very happy going.

Good value for the money. Fast service. Friendly staff. We popped in for a early dinner with the family. Seated immediately and attended to with great customer service. Food was fast and the kids picky requests were accommodated.

Stopped by for a quick drink after work, The atmosphere was fantastic and warm. I was served by Lewis. Such a Genuine smile even said hello as I walked into the pub and made sure to say goodbye as a I left. Prices are reasonable and It’s in a great location. Lewis convinced me to book for a table for the weekend for me and my family to come for food! Will definitely be returning!

Walked in today for a dinner, not a soul about, the door made a ringing sound we waited for around 4 minutes at the bar but no one came to serve us so we walked out again. Appalling.

Having been out in Colchester a couple of terms I was told about Yates to which I hadn’t visited before. The experience was fantastic, a great night of djing with excellent customer service and some amazing cocktails. I highly recommend their 2 for 1 Key West Cooler pitchers. Will definitely be returning and I have found my new hotspot for Colchester.

I paid £5 to get into this pub/club which was extortionate as it is and then within 10 minutes they don’t let me back in. I did plea that I was in fact sober and I am writing this review whilst I am in fact waiting for my friends to come out. Absolute joke.

Mediocre food, chips came out cold, fish was large but had no flavour to it. Kids meals was reasonable. Your staff lack knowledge and training, 2 members of staff I asked for something and their reply was let me just go and find out. Issue with pudding prices (not a problem to pay the extra) but would be like to have been told more a less instantly not come over 10 minutes later after weve sat waiting for pudding to then blame it on the manager as she was the one logged in when it was blatantly a man that served us. It just seemed like the staff didnt really care and really need extra training on the app , procedures in place and common knowledge. Would it hurt any of you to smile, its a pub not a morgue. The decor is lovely, the tables were clean but the floor was mega sticky.

Had the best service from Matt, Safiyah, Mayla, arak and Harvey. Oh would recommend it Yates, especially on a weekend. Was not expecting much due to it being a weekend, but the service was run very efficiently and had to get the servers name to praise their work. Especially l, due to how hard they worked. Cocktails and drinks tasted really nice, surprisingly as I’ve had many watered down drinks.

Visited with family. They’ve clearly tried to update the concept in recent years but it still feels so unbelievably main stream. The drink menu is decent enough, staff could maybe do with some extra training but generally everything ok.Shame about the vile clientele but not much they can do about that after so many years. Had lunch with 2 friends, I had jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw. Hardly any cheese and coleslaw tasteless. My friend had Hunters chicken which she said was overcooked and tough, chips weren't very nice. Also you couldn't pay bill at end of meal so each time you order another drink you had to pay instead of paying all together.

Went there with a group Friday 11thSat at separate tables and told we couldn’t mingle or even STAND UP at our table. When we did Jobs worth bouncers were on us like we were Trashing the place. Ruined the night. I understand covid rules but no standing or fun In a bar is crazy. Lost out on a lot of money we spent somewhere else the next day. Yates must have too much money as they can afford to be such prudes without a care to customers.

Small portions for food. Was quite chilly inside but it was a cold day maybe they forgot to turn the heating up. There were people sitting in there with coats on. We had to use the disabled toilet at the end of the bar to change our baby and I have seen cleaner toilets in third world countries.

21.56 and and 5 of our group got through with no charge to get in, then 2 of us were held back by the bouncers and had to pay 4 pounds each to get in!? Sorry, its not 10 o'clock yet?? why are we getting held back to pay when a, its not the set time, and b, 3/4 of our group have been let in?? Naff bar with dodgy rules that they don't stick too. Time to go somewhere else, money grabbing company with naff bar staff. Sorry the manager said it's time to pay, fantastic but it's not even 10 o'clock.
