Came here with family for a bottomless brunch. Food was lovely, my steak was cooked exactly how I asked for it to be and tasted amazing. The drinks were good too. Staff were friendly and welcoming as soon as we walked in the door. Our server was Tom and without a doubt he made our experience even more enjoyable. Friendly personality, nothing was too much trouble and he managed our sense of humour perfectly! Would definitely recommend and will be revisiting. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

My daughter and her two cousins booked a afternoon brunch on Saturday,They all complained about the lack of alcohol 🍸 in the cocktails they being served,And my daughter told the service was poor as ,When the bill came none of them paid the service charge,They were all disappointed as they've all been here before and thought how great it was 😬

Service makes this review an easy 5 stars! Made to feel welcome and appreciated as soon as walked in. Very friendly gentleman waiter and also lovely lady served us. Went above and beyond. Food was fantastic, recommend the Middletons Grill! Desert we had the Oreo cheesecake which was divine. Recommend for a lovely meal and service.

My friend and I had a brilliant time yesterday. We had the bottomless brunch and couldn’t fault one thing. Service was outstanding, food was delicious and hot and the prosecco was abundant! Thank you so much, we will definitely be back.

I was in this establishment last Saturday, 5/10/24. The server, Sarah, was lovely, attentive, polite, and informative, a pleasure to be served by. The food, whilst very nice the menu was a little confusing. Fries are classed as a separate side order if accompanying a classic grill, although included within the price, they have to be requested. In the end, I ended up with a carnivorous feast with no colour to the large plate and 2 onion rings. It made for a dry offering, which made it disappointing. I will, however, know for future visits that this is the case. It was an expensive lesson. I have marked down on atmosphere because it was very loud with different groups who were vying to be heard above each other. The party I was with struggled to hear each other's conversations and eventually gave up trying to be heard.

My family dined at your colchester restaurant Saturday night. We had a fine evening, food and ambience was perfect for our Saturday night. Tom our waiter for the evening was out standing, we had not seen his level of care and attention from a chain restaurant for many years. Tom is a real credit to your restaurant and compliments your team. Well done Tom and your team.

I go for their Sunday roasts. They are very good, the food is always very good. Good price and quality.

This was our first visit as we do not live in the Colchester area. We booked online as everything pointed to it being a busy, popular restaurant. We're glad we did, although they probably would have tried to fit us in if we'd walked up. We had a lovely welcome into steakhouse and grill. The menu choice was exactly as we expected and the food was of high quality. The wine was slightly expensive for the quality but we were prepared for this. Unfortunately as the evening progressed the speed of service slowed to a virtual stand still. E.g. We had to wait at least 30 minutes for our desert. (The mains were slow but this was initially not noticed as were were having a pleasant time). We did not bother with another bottle of wine or after dinner drinks or coffee. This was not the fault of our server, who I believe was Tom B. He tried his hardest to keep the mood light and did try and visit our table but was obviously being pushed to help in other areas. I think they had a big party in and were short staffed. I also heard other customers asking about the service. It's a shame that the slow service will be the last remaining memory of our visit to Middleton's.

Pretty disappointing Bottomless Brunch cocktails, they were so watered down and over-sweetened. Their ‘Cosmo’ tasted like Robinsons squash and the Bramble cocktail was totally wrong. Great service though, our two waiters were very responsive.

I have been two times, once I asked for a well done steak and got burned and dry piece of meat - eating a sock would be better. Now I asked for sea bass - and got two fillets that are basically from Tesco or smth, with brocoli that was uneatable. Espresso is bad, very bad. Service is nice, atmosphere also, and people and kind, but prepare yourself for a long wait. Just change your chef, pls.

Had a really good meal at Middletons with my girlfriend celebrating her birthday. Tom I believe was his name was our waiter and he went above and beyond making sure everything was alright and came out with a birthday cake for my girlfriend. We both had a a great experience and defo will be returning! Thank you Middletons & Tom!!

Three wonderful staff members tonight, service was a little slow but you can never predict how many you need…all 3 staff worked really hard the entire time we were there, food was lovely Thankyou for a lovely evening 🫶🏻

Middletons steakhouse and grill is located on North Hill Road about 13 minutes from Premier Inn and about 15 mins walk from the high Street of Colchester. Decent wine selection and a a good range of quality beef from T bones, rump, sirloin to fillet steaks , a choice of sides and sauces. They also have a mild but delicious monkfsh curry and baked seabass fillets. We did not have any dessert on our visit as we were in a hurry. Staff were warm, friendly and polite and knew their menu well. Restaurant was well laid out, clean and enough space for everyone. I would recommend and will return again.

Delicious Steaks with a good choice on the menu for sides to accompany the main. Staff were so good & went out of their way to make it an enjoyable night of dinning.

First visit to this place and definitely didn't disappoint!. Beef Wellington was stunningly good along with the posh fries. Could happily eat here on a regular basis. Lovely friendly staff. Thank you 😊 🙏

Very slow service, a couple large parties and a bottomless brunch at 8pm (?) meant staff were run ragged. Food was very slow to come out, steak was not cooked to how it had been requested and I heard other customers complaining the same. Steaks mainly cooked well done so if thats you like then Middletons will be for you. Restaurant extremely loud so couldn’t hear each other very well. Gents toilet was also flooded with buckets from urinals overflowing. Despite informing staff, the toilets were kept open and water was pouring into the hallway area. Disappointing.

had a terrible bottleless brunch for a stag night tonight! toilets were over flowing from urinals and stepping in your own wee. waiter was rude. manager tired her best to rectify everything but just wasn’t enough as food was rubbish and didn’t end paying for anything. it really ruined our night! now in turtle bay being looked after!

I had a truly fantastic evening at Middletons in Colchester! The service was impeccable, thanks especially to young Sarah, whose knowledge of allergens was incredibly helpful and reassuring. It made our dining experience so much more comfortable and enjoyable. The chef deserves a special mention as well—the fillet steak was cooked to perfection, absolutely spot on! I couldn’t recommend this place more for anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience. Hats off to the team at Middleton for making our evening so special! ---

Great service. Staff very friendly and attentive. Steak was cooked to perfection. I highly recommended the new crushed potato's, these potato's were the best I've ever tried. Also the peppercorn sauce was nice and peppery.

Visited with a group of 13 and whilst the food was good the service was so very slow, which was frustrating as we were the only ones in the restaurant the majority of the time. Even when another table did come in it was only a 2. We were there for two and half hours in total, which for a lunch is way too long. We did have 2 courses, but the majority of people had the same items off the saver set menu. We've visited other local restaurants with the same group on a lunch and never had this much delay. People were getting stressed by the end about how late back they would be. As mentioned, the food, when it came, was actually very nice but we won't hurry back due to the poor service levels.

5 stars for the the food and service! The food was extremely tasty, good quality meat and the sweet potato fries were amazing! The only thing I would say is that they had only 2 waiting staff the whole evening, who were brilliant and very attentive. I would argue that having 2 floor staff for an evening shift is not acceptable, you could tell that the employees were stressed and rushed off their feet where they had to look after a large amount of tables. This should not be acceptable middletons! I will be returning as the food was excellent, although I hope with more floor staff in the future please look after your staff!

Very good experience on our last hunt for steak on a Saturday evening. We’d visited other Middletons before and they’re usually good value for money. 18oz T bone was excellent. 16oz Ribeye was very good, although it didn’t feel or taste like a ribeye, but rather a rump. In any case, it was good, very tasty. Wine also to our liking. Service 100%, but not keen on having the “optional” service charge automatically added. Maybe I’m old school. Recommended though.

Good food and service 👌 The only down side is the noise of people shouting over each other. Saw a few people leave due to that.

Lovely family lunch for four of us. All of the steaks were fantastic. Cooked to perfection. Desserts were also great. Fabulous service.

Great service, our host was fantastic and really made us feel welcome. The food was great, the only disappointing but was the macaroni cheese which just appeared to be a bowl of wet sauce with very little pasta. The steak was perfect, great portion sizes and we also received a discount with our BlueLight card. Thank you ☺️

Booked for a birthday dinner but left so disappointed, I really can’t believe this place brought the Karen out in me but it was awful. The older front of house/manager who seated us and took our drink order was less than friendly to say the least, then she ended up ignoring us for the rest of the night? Had to catch someone to finally take our order, then the order took more than an hour to arrive. It was only after this hour that a younger man seemed to take over for our table and ask if we needed any drinks in the meantime. He obviously made the effort after realising how long we had been waiting and we just wished he had served us from the start. Food is mediocre at best, I decided to go here instead of Miller and Carter and boy do I regret it. Bad vibes all round, wouldn’t recommend unless you like to pay too much for a long wait and underwhelming steak.

We came for bottomless brunch on a Sunday, we were really well looked after and really speedy service for drinks orders and being served- can’t recommend it enough. Special thanks to Sarah for a great afternoon!

We waited a long time for service. Drinks orders took a long time. The food was fine but not top quality. We didn't order desert as we had taken too long with the service and had a concert to get to.

We went on a Sunday afternoon, around 1400, and despite it being very quiet in there, we were offered the absolutely worst table, right by the door. It was completely baffling as to why the server would do that. Anyway, once we had a better table, we sat down and were given menus and then sat there for 15 minutes before anyone came back to us. No offer of drinks or mention of specials. The food did arrive and was very good but then when we got the bill we saw that an 'optional' service charge had been added already, the cheek of it. Really just wanted out of there by then, so paid up and left.

We were disappointed with our food,it was Luke warm,could hardly see the lamb on our roast dinner,most of it was just fat,we asked for more meat to be told no more lamb and offered beef or turkey so opted for beef which was really tough .the cheese board was disappointing too few crackers 2 small pieces of cheddar and small pieces of blue cheese,few grapes but where they were taken of the stalk it was black and small bit of chutney,first time there and wouldn't go back but that's our opinion..

Went for my friends bottomless birthday brunch, called ahead to say we may be running 5-10 minutes late. When we arrived 8 minutes past our reservation they had given our table away and then said the table was not ready. Our first drink order was not taken for 30 minutes and food was 45 minutes. When our first drink arrived, one of the drinks was spilt over the table and one of my friends. They also then spilt one of the second drinks. We only had 4 drinks in the entire time, they did give us a free glass of Prosecco at the beginning for the mixup and then again at the end when we had said we had only had 3 drinks at this point. The food was very good, but the service could’ve definitely been better especially at brunch time on a Saturday (busiest time) it seemed as there was only 2 people working on the bar. When we brought this up with the server he said that it wasn’t his fault (which it isn’t) but better management needs to happen. We did have to repeatedly get up and go to the bar to get the servers attention. Overall, I believe it is a good restaurant but a bottomless brunch is not for everyone. Booking is under Graham-Gordon. I have been told it will be taken up with management , feel free to contact. Will not be coming back here. We did speak to the table next to us before we left and they advised they were also having the same issue.

Went there last night for some bottomless brunch and the drinks and food were lovely! But the service was absolutely awful! I’ve never met a manager so rude in my life. Would never come here again because of the way we were spoken to by the waitress/manager. He’s a absolute tosser

great value fixed price menu before 6:30pm on weekdays - although bear in mind the mains are smaller than the ones on the usual menu. had the minute steak + a cheesecake, and was so full by the end. service also lovely

Food is always delicious and the staff are always so lovely and kind. My partner and I often come here by ourselves or with friends and family and it’s always such a good experience!

We walked in with no booking and Dan accommodated us no problem. There was no full rack of ribs on the menu but he sorted it out and we were served a full rack of ribs. My 16oz rib-eye steak was cooked to perfection. Best steak I've eaten. Definitely will be returning.

Very average food at premium prices. Steak undercooked, sauce was like water, limp slap and a raw, cold, half tomato. Wouldn't recommend and won't be going again.

Lovely food, however too cramped almost on top of one another. Interior is a bit scruffy looking also. This fad of Bottomless Brunches all restaurants seem to be doing will bite them in the end. We had to wait at the front door while the restaurant literally poured 10 to 12 very drunk females screeching at the top of their voices out of the door. Not something you want to encounter when you have come for a quiet dinner and spend upwards of £120. Please sort that out, or you will lose custom.

Had the roast beef as previously was a lovely lunch, but this time the beef was very chewy and I was unable to eat the beef.

The place was nice, I've only given 3 star because steak wasn't available in a steak restaurant I had a vegan burger, it wasn't the best but then it was vegan and I'm not even vegan I don't know why I even picked it lol,

Very enjoyable time was had hear. Food was great staff were very accomadating we have a 1 yesr old and they where great with her.couldnt fault them at all.

Booked this restaurant for my 60th birthday and was looking forward to a steak. Unfortunately due to a problem no steak. Chose another dish which was really nice. Food there is amazing. Only downside was the service, waited ages for the food and was only once asked if we wanted drinks.

We had an OK experience but found the meat on the Sunday Roast substandard. The portion was very sparse and the beef tough. To make matters worse when mentioning to the waiter regarding the left over beef his comment was 'I know when we have it in the staff room it's the same'

Warm and friendly welcome. Food and drink quality was excellent. Large, noisy party meant the staff were spending most of their time keeping them topped up with food and drink. That meant we felt a bit ignored and struggled to get the attention of staff.

My visit to Middletons took place at 18:00 on a weeknight. It was quiet as expected. The food was fair. I had a rump steak, greens and dauphinoise potato. The steak was ordinary at best. To follow, I ordered roulade with cream but got ice cream. The table wasn't particularly clean, which was annoying. During the meal, a waiter came and asked me if everything was okay. Of course, he did that just when I had a mouthful of food and so didn't get an answer. That is the one thing that is guaranteed to get you a less-than-stellar review.

I had steak with dauphinoise potatoes, peppercorn sauce and a side of onion rings. The meal was delicious and one of the best I've had in a restaurant. Dessert was lemon roulade with ice cream, very light and extremely delicious. The manager, Sarah, was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Food very good, the staff helpful, welcoming and friendly. The white chocolate and lemon roulade was absolutely delicious! It was a very cold evening and we sat near the front window so everytime the door opened we got hit by a blast of cold air which I found uncomfortable. I would recommend sitting elsewhere during the winter months.

Service was excellent, we never had empty glasses. The drinks selection was great and the cocktails were delicious. Main meal was a good size and good quality. This was the second time we have been to the Middletons brunch and we will definitely be returning.
