The meal was nice. Service excellent. The table tops were sticky which made me feel uncomfortable re cleanliness.

A friend and I had lunch today, from the fixed-price menu. The food was fantastic, but even better than that, was the amazing service from Kris. He was perfectly polite, friendly, and just a lovely guy. Thanks Kris!

Me and my partner came in for a meal and I’m speechless.was the best service we have had in a while and we really enjoyed our food . Emily who served us was fantastic , honestly couldn’t have done more for us. Emily made us feel comfortable and was just over the moon with how we was treated. To sum up the evening I would personally like to thank Emily and all I can say is miller and carter Emily is an employee you would not want to lose . And compliments to the chef on the food . Will definitely be coming again way worth the travel. So thank you 😊

We went to this restaurant for my wife's 70th birthday, there were seven in our party.all the food served was exactly how each of our group liked it. The steaks were beautifully cooked and all the food arrived at table piping hot. When we had our desserts, my wife's cheescake arrived with a lighted candle on top and achorus of Happy Birthday from the waiters, which we thought was a very kind gesture. It was a meal, and an evening enjoyed by us all. What made it all the more enjoyable was the efficiency and friendliness of the receptionist and all the waiting staff who served us. A very special mention and thank you to Marius who made sure that everything was as it should be and also the chefs who prepared our food. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE.

We came here for dinner. The service was absolutely amazing. ( I believe our waitress was called Lisa. She was so lovely and welcoming) . The food was so delicious we had calamari, bbq ribs , ribeye steak and scallops. Would highly recommend it. Portions are really big too. They also have a massive car park which is great.

Came here for a birthday meal for my husband, it was so lovely! I have a dairy allergy, and our waitress Lisa could not have been more accommodating. She even checked the mayo label herself to make sure I could have it. The food is absolutely divine in Miller & Carter, definitely one of our favourite places for a special occasion. Thank you!

Have eaten here many times, we popped down for my birthday at lunch time, this time was the best cooked food I've had in there, it was perfect!! I had to ask who was the Chef, it was Freddie who I also spoke to at the end, he is such a nice guy! Ellie is the fabulous lady that worked our table, really friendly, personable and helpful, you both made my afternoon so thank you 😄 You're assets to the business.

We asked for the really irritating background "music" to be turned down, which the waitress did without question.

Know your customers, Visited last weekend for a family meal we were seated in a booth the service and the food was excellent the restaurant was practically empty, so you will imagine our surprise when a family rocked up in grubby tracksuits screaming toddler in tow seemingly known to all the staff were just plonked next to us. The Adults were too busy necking pints and going outside to smoke to even entertain the child who screamed constantly and it was left to the waitress to serve 3 tables and entertain the child. My gripe is these people were clearly known to all the staff you could see them exchanging rolled eyes as they tried to deal with them. If the staff know them and know what they are like why are they spoiling the experience of others by sitting them next to families who have as stated on the website dressed smartly and want to have a decent meal in peace.

Fantastic experience dining here last week, the food and drink was delicious and our server, Phoebe, was a delight. Will be recommending the restaurant in future, look forward to visiting again!

My partner have been to miller and carter a handful of times in our relationship as it is pretty pricey so we keep it for special occasions. That being said, the food is always lovely and the steaks are cooked exactly as you want them to be. All staff members we have been served by are lovely and friendly, and the food comes out fast and hot. We mentioned that it was our anniversary and they sent out a cute little memo with our shared desert. Super cute!

Award winning 16oz steak made me think about what award they won with it. Gamey, chewy and questionable meat quality. Otherwise the waiter was nice, the presentation of food was great and the atmosphere was warm.

We came for dinner 15th March 2024 and we had the most fantastic meal. Our waitress Courtney was polite, helpful and she was fantastic at her job. We will book again soon.

Food eventually turned up an hour after ordering. Chateaubriand ordered medium rare. Arrived well done. Couldn't face complaining and waiting even longer for food. Begrudgingly ate Chateaubriand burnt to a crisp. Won't be back.

Lovely meal out last night. Food was excellent. Only slight criticism is that our main arrived as soon as our starters were cleared. Possibly I could have asked for a break between the courses when ordering,but didn’t expect courses one after the other. Apart from that our server was very friendly and we enjoyed our night out.

The food was amazing! Steaks cooked to perfection, absolutely brilliant service! Our waitress was Lisa in the Colchester store and she was so lovely and welcoming! Dessert said happy birthday on it without having to ask for that to be done so that was a nice surprise. Couldn’t have asked for better! Absolutely amazing experience for a birthday celebration.

Truly excellent. Came here for my partners graduation meal and they managed to accommodate all 7 of us. The steaks were magnificent and our server was absolutely exceptional. On his dessert (he ordered the ice cream) they wrote “Happy Graduation!” In chocolate sauce on the serving plate. Little touches like this made this dinner wonderful - thank you so much!

Very polite staff. Managed to book us in last minute for my wife's birthday even though they didn't really have the space. They did everything they could to make it happen. Our waiter was spot on. Didn't hang over you and didn't ignore you either. Just perfect 👌 food was fantastic as well, cooked exactly how I asked, served promptly even though it was a busy evening. Overall a brilliant experience and the fillet mignon was amazing.

Took my step dad and family here to celebrate Father's Day and I couldn't fault it. Staff were amazing, especially Jodie she was great! The food and drink quality was superb and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant is sophisticated. Definitely will be back!

Went to celebrate our anniversary. Didn't get any extra service after twice mentioning it when booking online .but thought ok place is a lot busier than the last visit seem to of put more tables and chairs in so a but more noise than before . But was greeted by marius our server superb service from start to finish he was on the ball .food wise steaks are ok but I've had better think the Miller and Carter shine is not what it used to be .yes I would go back but not my 1st choice for steak.

Went to Miller and Carter on Saturday 29th June to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I cannot thank our bar tender Archie and waitress Phoebe enough. On one hand, Archie made us the MOST DELICIOUS cocktails and was so lovely and professional. One of the best bartenders for sure. On the other hand Phoebe was phenomenal and catered to our every need. She went over and above by ensuring our birthday girl had a special celebration. Thank you Archie and Phoebe. We will be back soon x

Went yesterday and was served by the wonderful Phoebe who was great. Lovely food, very tasty sharing dessert and good wine. Well worth a visit.

We took our daughter and son in law for an anniversary lunch. The Staff were efficient, the drinks lovely. The steak ciabatta and pork Tomahawk were great. However the chicken had red blood spots in veins and the broccoli was inedible and could not even be cut with a knife. The waitresses retorted luck of the draw. Really? Our thanks to the chef for the Happy anniversary writing on the deserts it was cute.

Came for a birthday meal at Miller and Carter in Colchester. Pheobe was our server and she was extremely welcoming, very attentive and made our visit really pleasant. Food took a while to come but when it did, it didn’t disappoint.

Always get great service & a well cooked steak here. On a Thursday you can get a fillet steak, starter & dessert for just over £40.

What an amazing evening out! Good food, lovely wine, excellent service. Everything was delicious, our waiter was friendly and professional, food arrived promptly, perfectly cooked steak, delicious fish! Wish the restaurant have stricker policy on dress code, so many people treating it as a pub and coming in trainers/sportswear. Nice experience anyway, will be back soon definitely

THIS HAS NOW BEEN RESOLVED The steak was delicious. The rest of the cooking was poor. The vegetarian option was not really edible, the peas were literally inedible and the gluey mashed potatoes were not finished. The waiter wasn’t competent, he was friendly but got things wrong throughout. I will not be coming again.

Clean, tidy and reasonably priced food at about £50 p.h. Something for everyone on the menu and smaller portions on the 'children's menu'. Fast, good service from attentive staff.

Had to send food back a couple of times because steak wasn’t cooked. Onion loaf soggy and greasy. Left feeling unwell within 45 mins of eating. Chewing gum on the floor. Generally very poor experience - only saving grace is the waitress was lovely!

I visited here last week with 7 other family members. We all enjoyed our food and thought it was good value. We had the special price lunch menu which is available between 12 and 3 on a Saturday at £16.25 for two courses and £19.50 for three courses. We were served by KRIS who was efficient, patient and friendly. There was an option to add 10 per cent service charge which we did as we were happy with everything and I believe all tips go directly to the staff members. This is my second visit here and will gladly return.

Had the three course lunch menu. Portions are a bit smaller than the regular menu but adequate for lunch. Calamari, fillet steak with chunky chips and Crème Brûlée. No complaints with food or service. Generally a nice place to go for a decent meal.

Went for joint Birthday Wedding Anniversary meal. Colin, our server was very attentive and engaging. He didn't know but the "Birthday Girl" has stage 4 terminal cancer so this meal out was very special to us and he is service and personality went a long way to making this a lovely day to remember. Wonder food and drinks. Thank you.

Went to Miller and Carter Colchester with my Partner. I had the t-bone, she had the fillet steak. Both cooked to perfection! Great choices of side dishes. The garlic mushrooms were unreal! Was served by Marius. Extremely attentive waiter. Very knowledgeable and most importantly, kept our wine glasses topped up!! I look forward to coming back.

We are here in June 2024 for my birthday. As always the food was excellent and so was the service. We ordered something we hadn't had before - the Butcher's Block - and Charlotte was hugely helpful in advising and recommending what worked best. All of the steaks were superb in their quality and flavour and the sides worked well.. Charlotte was helpful and attentive but not in any way intrusive and the whole meal was a joyous experience.

We had a birthday meal here which was a nice experience and the staff were very friendly, however the person serving us had just came back from having a cigarette and rather than waiting for a while or getting someone else over to take the order they came over smelling of smoke and there was a newborn at the table so I didn't think that was great. Bedsides all this, the main meal was a little bit boring. A few of us had the spinach and cheese pie which was a bit too rich and salty, the others that had steak and bass and they liked it. I would go back again but not in a rush for the prices, the atmosphere is what sells it for me.
