Amazing experience every time we go. Really wide choice of cocktails, so we always try something new every time, and the friendly staff are more than happy to help and give their recommendations. If it was a perfect world I’d like less hen parties and less noise, but they have to make money. Also love that there’s sanitary products in the ladies.

We had a drink served in a cracked glass, and one of us cut their lip. This shouldn't happen. Moreover, I ordered a mainstream whiskey. That brand wasn't available. They replaced it with a recommendation of theirs. Upon paying, the recommendation turned out to be exquisite and very expensive. This should have been flagged before charging.

Ordered mocktails that were the same price as their alcoholic counterparts but did not use alcohol free spirits as replacements. They tasted watery and unpleasant. Was a huge waste of money and we were really disappointed so wouldn’t recommend for those who don’t drink alcohol.

The best and ONLY cocktail bar in Colchester! Chappel's seriously rivals any international bar with it's quality, alcohol quantity and variety of cocktails. All staff are knowledgeable on the drinks and each one is made to perfection. Great atmosphere!

There is plenty of seating downstairs!! When you pass and it looks full go on and check it out. The staff were amazing and looked after all 8 of us with a personal touch!

Five stars isn’t enough!!! This little gem is hands down the best place in Colchester….a really great chill vibe, huge range of drinks and expertly executed cocktails. The staff always attentive and friendly and the owner is hands on and maintains a keen eye on service and standards…..a recipe for success!!!. Already planning my next visit.

Kept 'forgetting' cocktails in our order, then making us wait half hour longer every time we brought it to their attention. Waiting for 2 cocktails wound up taking over an hour. I guess they thought it was our fault.

Recently went here with my granddaughter. Lovely selection of cocktails and the bar itself is a great atmosphere, the decor is modern and unique. Although it was a busy Friday night, the service was quick and all staff very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend to go here if you are looking for a bar in Colchester.

I had a lovely time here. The drinks selection is brilliant. My favourites are makers mark 46 and the roast coffee kracken. The cocktails are superb too. However the Tom Cruise looking barman didn’t do cocktail flaring like I hoped. Overall it is a fantastic place to visit as a couple or as a group of friends

I have been visiting this bar for quite some time and love; the bar, the decor, the atmosphere, the staff and most importantly the quality and variety of the cocktails! If you truly want a real cocktail, that is not watered down, this is the place to go. It's the M&S of coctails bars in Colchester in my experience. There was unfortunatley an issue in the bar last week but the staff acted professionally and saved the atmosphere on the evening, which was being threatened by unresonable, and selfish actions from what I could see. Well done to all the staff that worked that night who ensured everyone felt safe and welcome to enjoy an adult environment in which to enjoy some high class drinks and cocktails. The Bar is better off without people that feel that type of behaviour is acceptable in civilised company.

Chappells is constantly evolving. Last time we went, the bar had got bigger, and they've taken on the premises next door. Next time we go, there's even going to be a basement seating area! They've got a great cocktail menu, and a huge, humongous selection of gins. For me, Chappels is THE place to go in Colchester! UPDATE:- I was in Chappells a couple of weeks ago. The evolution continues! Dan Chappell runs a great bar, ably assisted by his partner, Jodie. I've been following the bar on Facebook, and the cocktail menu just never fails to impress! Seems a little odd to me, that despite all the glowing reviews on Google, suddenly, out of the blue, 6 negatives come in within the same hour! Looks like the competition are getting jealous to me. All I'll say here is, whenever I visit Colchester, I'll be visiting Chappells.

Had the pleasure of visiting Chappel’s last Friday night and it was amazing. The staff are very attentive and the atmosphere was so good. Was only planning on a couple but stayed most of the night as it was so enjoyable. Would highly recommend visiting this place and will be back again very soon. Amazing 👌😁

I recently had the unfortunate experience of visiting that left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. The primary reason behind my negative review stems from the incredibly rude behavior displayed by one of the staff members during my visit. From the moment I entered the bar, the atmosphere seemed promising. However, my initial positive impression quickly faded when I encountered a staff member who exhibited a shocking lack of professionalism and courtesy. Their demeanor was consistently dismissive and disrespectful, which created an unpleasant and uncomfortable environment for myself and other patrons. Despite my attempts to engage politely and seek assistance, this staff member responded with snide remarks and condescending tones. It was disheartening to witness such a lack of basic customer service skills and a disregard for the well-being of customers. Not only did this staff member display an unprofessional attitude, but they also appeared disinterested in fulfilling their responsibilities. It took an unreasonably long time to receive service, and my requests for simple items were met with a nonchalant attitude. The overall lack of attentiveness and basic courtesy left a sour taste in my mouth, making it difficult to enjoy my time at the bar. Customer service should be a priority in any establishment, and unfortunately, this bar failed to meet even the most basic standards. The rude staff member's behavior overshadowed any positive aspects the bar might have had, leaving me with a deeply unsatisfied experience. In conclusion, I cannot recommend this bar to anyone seeking an enjoyable and pleasant evening. The rude staff member I encountered tainted the atmosphere and displayed a level of unprofessionalism that is simply unacceptable. Until the bar addresses its staffing issues and provides a more welcoming environment, I would advise potential patrons to look elsewhere for their socializing needs

Love this place! Great atmosphere great bar staff although turnover appears high, everyone they hire is good. Fabulous menu of cocktails. Only issue is the layout is a bit disjointed so can make it uncomfortable to order and also find somewhere to sit. But other than that hands down our favourite bar in Colchester. Fingers crossed they buy another venue so we have more places to go once chapels gets rammed!

Came to Chappels for a hen do and had an amazing time! Such a wide variety of cocktails available along with a great selection of mocktails. All of them were presented beautifully. Met friends here for the first time last Saturday, great little bar, lovely staff, was early evening so not too busy. Only negative point was the toilets were a bit of a disappointment, looked like they had run out of money and had a quick coat of paint that was left over!
