Love this place, foods fab, as a veggie/vegan great to have so ,Many options. Took a non veggie and they also loved the food. Atmospheric and fun place to eat and chill. Owners are so passionate about the place and it shows in the way every thing is done.Love the place would recommend to all . Also well priced and not over the top costs .

Love the hotdogs and burgers here! Proper 50's diner style food and great customer service. They also have a whole host of ethical products and vegan sandwiches, cheeses, black puddings, cakes, etc. This is one of our favourite places to eat in Colchester.

Absolutely vile place had a cheeseburger from here given to me a few weeks ago not knowing it was all fake just knew it didn't taste right and it made me sick when I complained to the place and asked what was inside it. I got a barrage of insults and they refused to tell me what was used inside it. They took my name and searched out my un-used twitter account and found my FB account and started a campaign of harassment and bullying against me made threats against my sexuality threatening to out me as gay to my friends and family and useing cruising area's. Threats against my cats calling me evil for imprisoning them (they have cat flap and come and go as they please) started to use my image in there bullying. I would suggest you never go here the staff are as vile as the food

A little hard to find, look for their door between London Camera Exchange and Just Essentials, then head upstairs ready to be delighted by the retro interior.A fabulous selection of dairy free shakes, pancakes and cakes, plus a diner menu featuring burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches.I had a blueberry hill shake and moving mountains wahaca burger.Highly recommended, can't wait to go back.

Literally stumbled upon this place by mistake, I must have walked past it a dozen times in the last month and never noticed. Shakers is situated above shops but dont let this put you off.The place is quiet and welcoming with a 60's diner vibe, the staff seem to be very friendly. We ordered a hotdog and bbq bacon burger of the moving mountain kind with a couple of shakes. First off the hot dog was spot on and the shakes were very nice but not cold enough, equally the burger and hotdog arrived a considerable time after the shakes and therefore were somewhat warmer with little left to wash down with. Didn't really enjoy the burger as I felt it was slightly undercooked and a little sloppy, have had this burger brand at various locations and really like them, this time was my least favourite.I really dont want to knock this place as I feel with time this can be a proper gem being a vegatarian for over 25 years and now in my 40s I remember how options were very limited, so I will be returning 100%It would also be a good idea for some menus on the tables.

I don't live in colchester but whenever I am down I go out my way to visit Shakers. it's a great space and the family that run it are beyond lovely. So friendly and helpful. The milkshakes are devine and the pancakes are the best I've had for a long time. The moving mountains burger and hot dogs are delicious. If you are vegan and in colchester you HAVE to come here. Infact if you're not vegan you have to come here, I defy you to find a nicer milkshake.

First time at Shakers today and was not disappointed!!! The no bull bbq cheeseburger was delicious and the milkshakes are to die for the atmosphere is really friendly and personal, was able to have a lovely chat with the owner as well, so important to support independent businesses, especially when they’re 100% plant based

Delicious food and friendly, helpful staff. Catered brilliantly for my allergies, and really understood the necessity to keep everything separate from allergens. The warmed chocolate brownie was exceptional. Thank you!

I took a self confessed "massive carnivore" friend (yes, she said this out loud, while we ordered. Haha) to Shakers to try it out. We both loved it!!! The burgers were full of flavour and my friend said she really enjoyed the meaty texture. We also tried the rocky road and brownies, these were a real treat!!! We liked the old style vibe there too. Plus had a lovely chat with the owner. We'll be back for shakes and pancakes!!!

Three of us visited for lunch and had three Noah burger, two servings of wedges, a strawberry shake, an Oreo shake and a lemon iced tea. (Cost c. £32) The restaurant is 50s diner themed which is very cool and includes suitable music. (We thought it was my husband’s playlist ) Starting with the food, it was tasty, timely (about fifteen minute wait - food is cooked to order) well presented (keeping with the diner theme) and filling. Between three of us only one ate all their burger and we managed one bowl of wedges. The shakes are in traditional sundae glasses and tasty without being overly sweet. We can recommend the food. The member of staff who was serving when we visited was friendly, chatty about the food, the business, and the rise of plant based cuisine. He’s enthusiastic about his place in the plant-based world and being a business in Colchester. All in all a positive experience which we will definitely repeat!

Nice friendly place. Cool 50's American diner theme. The staff are very warm and chatty. I am coeliac and have a dairy intolerance also and this place caters for me very ably. The vegan burgers are so good they taste amazing. I have tried a number of the shakes over time and they are all delicious. They are environmentally friendly too utilising metal straws in the store for example. I ate the gluten free cherry pie today. I haven't eaten cherry pie in years owing to being coeliac and it was a fantastically tasty pie. I will definitely be having more of the gluten free pie from here in the future.

Such a lovely family run business. It was great finding a restaurant where my son could eat without any fear of getting ill. We all enjoyed our food. My son loved his milkshake so much he had seconds. Wish we lived closer. But would definitely go back

Staffed by the friendliest people, committed to the tastiest possible ethical vegan treats and reasonably priced. Frankly the best vegan spot in Colchester so far. Also the only place in the area that serves the fantastic no bull burger. I've taken non-vegans and they were blown away the milkshakes, not convinced they were vegan.

We went for Bottomless Brunch and it was incredible. Our server Tommy was incredibly attentive, engaging and warm. The food was delicious and we got served a generous amount of drinks. The facilities were clean, the atmosphere was great. Couldn’t recommend Bottomless Brunch here enough. Another mention to Tommy who’s service was incredible and made the experience! Will definitely be returning and recommend to friends and family. Bravo 👏

A good meal for all my family on our first visit here. Food prices are fair and portions generous. Thank you to both Amy and Livvy who served us and made our young children welcome.
