The best restaurants in Chelmsford East of England

We were a little nervous after reading some recent reviews, but we needn't have been. The warmth of the welcome was second to none, the choice of food was extensive, the food was excellent and we will return!

We'd been to Danbury Lakes and found the closest pub to go have some lunch. So we were introduced to The Bell and wow I'm so pleased we were. Let by Daniel who's lovely and had a choice of seats as a walking club who had booked table were not walking sure to the heat. 32C We were both made welcome and seated with a fan. Complementary water at the bar was nice. The menu is quite extensive and the food we chose was well worth it. I had the Sausage Melt and my wife had a Cheese/Onion baguette. Both come with salad and chips, and they were very filling. Such a nice place to eat with great food, friendly staff who made us very welcome. Just to note this is a dog friendly pub, with facilities for the larger dogs like Greyhounds too. So to follow this up, we are looking to have a lunch with friends with our dogs, when the weather is less crazy.

Ordered a takeaway to collect, guy before me complained he had the wrong meal. I didn’t think to check mine, appears they gave me his wrong meal afterwards instead of what I ordered which was also cold. Seams to have changed ownership. Very poor

I had a proper dinner with lamb ribs, some cold and hot mezes, a couple of beers. Paid £34 and worths every penny. You can taste the high quality ingrediants when you keep eating.

Don’t listen to any of the bad reviews. This place is the best. Amazing Japanese food and amazing service. Ottie, Mario and Maya. You guys are the best!!!!

Amazing staff and very welcoming , great entertainment and fantastic beer garden

We have been to Elachi multiple times now. We love the food and the service is great! Biryani, Naga Chicken and railway beef are excellent. Decor is also very pleasant. Highly recommend.

Made our regular visit to Chilli’s and as always excellent service and great food. Kam and his team are very friendly, welcoming and professional. We’ve been very very many times and never had a poor meal or service in fact every visit is amazing. This is our regular go to restaurant locally especially with the very varied choices of dishes. The best Indian restaurant we know. Definitely recommend and will be returning

Excellent Sunday dinner and fantastic pub

Been going here for some years, but our last visit was days before it closed for good. Will miss it. Was always good food and super value.

I was so disappointed with this restaurant. When I ordered I was told it would arrive in 30 minutes. I waited 1hr 10mins for the delivery and when it arrived it was stone cold. I called the restaurant who advised to give it back to the driver and they would send another ASAP. She apologised and said she would send some extra bits to compensate. When the second order arrived the only compensation I received was a dip!!! I ordered a lamb Shish and a portion of hummus (only 2 pieces of bread) came for the whole order. It was also warm (not hot) the lady on the phone couldn’t have been less interested. This just isn’t normal service from this restaurant but it has put me off from ordering again

Best pizza in Chelmsford in my opinion and the coolest pizza place name.

Food is always good here, reasonable quality , place is clean and staff friendly, does what it says on the side of the tin- it’s a cafe. BUT - spoilt by noisy uncontrolled children, why do the parents think it’s ok for them to express themselves in scream, shout, drop food on the floor- I would hate to see the state of their homes. Teach the kids to use knife and forks, not fingers. No wonder kids have no respect. Albeit not Munchies fault, but they have to contend with clearing up the mess. So well done here!

Once again despite being advertised as open on Google, the hours being different to google as well (they shut at 3pm) it is not open. Just wanted a healthier lunch then normal. Im off to McDonald's.

We ordered Kebab with salad and chips. Food was good, the kebab ideally needed more time on the spitfire. Nice chilli sauce, didn’t like the garlic mayo though. Service was good, although they forgot to put pickle chilli, overall good! 4 out of 5
