Elachi Fine Indain Cuisine in Chelmsford

Food was lovely, brilliant service, lovely staff, great atmosphere, the music was very chill as well.

Telephoned take-away order through for collection and was told it would be 30 minutes. Went to the restaurant only to find that food was not ready. Finally, after 45 minutes, I was given my food. When I got home I could not believe just how poor the food, in particular the chicken biryani, looked. How any chef can send out a biryani with the chicken dry and well overcooked and the rice burnt is beyond me. Absolutely no seasoning whatsoever meant it was totally bland and inedible. The vegetable curry that accompanied the dish was an insult. One piece of potato, one french bean, a few slices of carrot, three pieces of broccoli, that had clearly seen better days, and a few peas in a weak watery sauce with no hint of any spices. Will definitely not be returning to the Elachi after this experience.

Staff were friendly, food was fairly average. After our mains were brought out, we were told the card machine was broken so we needed to pay cash. When the bill came the total was £30 more than should have been - when we brought this up the chap very quickly changed the total and gave us a lame excuse of “sorry the machine was broken that’s why the total was wrong”. Felt like they tried to swindle us. Won’t be returning.

We ordered a takeaway for 10 people on a busy Saturday night for Elachi. We requested if possible, that it would be bagged up separately per couple, (so to make it easier to sort out). Well, it arrived spot on time, separated in bags for each couple and everything was there, everything was hot and it was delicious and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Thanks Elachi, you are the best!

First visit to the Elachi restaurant on recommendation from friends. Warm welcome by friendly staff in spite of the restaurant being very busy. The menu was varied, the food we selected was absolutely delicious and the staff were very efficient. Pleasant surroundings and ambiance. All in all very enjoyable and we will definitely revisit.

It was my first time visiting with my sister Maddison and our boyfriends. And I can definitely say I’m very impressed with my visit, I’ve have heard a lot of great things about it from Maddison and I can say that it really did live up to its expectations. Went into this establishment to order a takeaway. Had a menu at home which offered a 10% discount on takeaways ordered and I had also downloaded the menu from their website which appears to date from 2019 so very confusing. Anyway placed my order and when it came to pay the discount had not been applied. I was told that the discount has been discontinued to avoid having to increase the prices of dishes. At no time prior to this was I told that the discount had been stopped and there were no signs explaining that displayed anywhere. The only clue is that the menus now have the discount scratched out. After much discussion I was given the discount as a gesture of goodwill. It is a shame when an establishment cannot be bothered to ensure its website has the latest information available.

Superb food, fantastic service. Had a lovely meal with my son and felt it was responsibly priced as well. Found the staff friend, will be returning.

Amazing meal last night yet again. We are so impressed with the consistently high standard of food from Elachi. I have been eating Indian food for 40 years, and i can honestly say Elachi is my favourite. The icong on the cake is the consistent quality that lacks so much with other restaurants. Ordered a couple of take away meals, Dansak and Tikka massala. Excellent meals well presented and authentic. Delivered early by polite professional. This was our first purchase from this restaurant we would certainly recommend to everyone.

After a gap of several years went back to the Elachi restaurant yesterday evening to celebrate my wife's birthday and we were both overwhelmed by how classy it has become inside since our previous visit. The decor is outstanding as is the general ambience of the place. Food was excellent and we both very much appreciate the attention Kam and his staff afforded us.Must now rank as one of the top Indian Restaurants not only in South Woodham Ferrers but also in the surrounding areas. We moved out of the area during covid and haven’t made it back as often as we like but Elachi is hands down the best curry house within a 15 mile radius. The food is always fresh, delicious and cooked using high quality ingredients. The staff are super welcoming and friendly. It’s such a treat to come back! Please open a sister restaurant in Burnham!!!! Azad is a particularly fantastic front of house ambassador 🙌🏼😄

Elachi never fails to impress , my daughters birthday in August they pulled out all the stops to make it special for her. The food is amazing, so much flavour and choice. I’m praying we will be out of lockdown for my sons birthday at the beginning of December so we can celebrate here as we usually do. - if not it will def be a takeaway!

My daughter and her boyfriend went here for a meal and came home raving about the food and atmosphere, so we booked a table for a few days later and were equally delighted with our evening. I have used Elachi many times before and have always had great things to say about the delicious food, fab staff and the stylish surroundings. This time was even better... we turned up to a beautifully decorated table after I had mentioned on the phone that it was my friends birthday so this was a lovely surprise! We were then greeted by happy, friendly and patient staff! We giggled loud and caused chaos but Azaad was brilliant & took pics for us to make memories of our special night out! When for a weekend away, telephone to book for a table they could accommodate us. We went there staff were lovely and friendly. Had a lovely dinner was delicious!! Staff followed the covid19 restrictions set by government, and made our time with them very enjoyable. Highly recommend and would love to go back there again soon.

another visit to our go to eating out place with my wife, both decided to try different dishes and again took the advice of the amazing and helpful staff and again as usual was not disappointed, the food was cooked to perfection, in fact my wife said the prawns she had was among the best she has ever had cooked for her and my dish was on point, spicy as i like it but tasty as well which is a hard combo for any chef to get, we will be back and the family is already talking about our xmas eve visit to match last years.thank you kam and azad for another lovely evening

First time out with friends since February. We had a tasty meal which we had to preorder. Everything was what you would want from your local Indian restaurant. We use Elachi for our takeaways and have used them during lockdown as a treat. We wanted to support a local business who have worked hard the whole of lockdown,thanks.

Amazing Every TimeOnly place we order our Indian. Always flavourful and staff are friendly. If I never know what to order they know what my tastes are and they will choose something for me, it is always spot on. Looking forward to going for a sit down when the lockdown is over.

We ordered a takeaway it was over 45 mins late then missing a main meal. Poor customer service. Told it would take another half an hour to be delivered meaning I had to go and collect during this time. When I arrived was greeted by rude staff, no apology was given, denied a refund but was offered a beer. Save yourself the time and go visit chillis instead!

During these strange times we're living in right now, the Elachi staff helped take our mind off things, by providing a prompt, properly prepared 3 course Indian takeaway meal. As soon as we're able, we will be visiting the restaurant for a meal, but the quality of the food on offer doesn't suffer by having a take out option. Fresh ingredients, big flavours :-) Highly recommended.

We were not sure if we could order directly during these difficult times but Elachi made it so easy for us to pay over the phone when ordering so that we didn’t have to have cash or go out to collect the meal. The food was delivered safely and efficiently and was absolutely delicious. Previously we had used another Indian in town but will not make that mistake again, it wasn’t a patch on Elachi for taste, quality and value for money. Excellent customer service too.

We were going to order our regular takeaway but at the last minute decided to walk down and eat in. Although the restaurant was not too busy it slowly filled during our meal and the staff were very welcoming & attentive with the same high quality food standards we have come to expect from Elachi over the years. I’m not a big spice / curry fan but myself and 4 mates were hungry after a few beers and at least one of my friends had had good experiences here in the past. I was quickly impressed with the food presentation and then the taste. I actually can’t wait to have another Royal Mix but live a 60 minute drive away ! Service was also very good.

The menu needs to be studied as there are a number of unusual and interesting dishes they obviously employ an excellent chef. We each selected a different dish and, although we don't share, we were all amazed at the quality of the dishes selected and the wonderful, and delicate, use of spices - we tried a fork full of each others.

We live in grays, but on visiting my daughter, we had decided on visiting elatchi, and wasn't disappointed, they were very busy, and rushed off their feet, but the food was delicious, as normal, had a lovely round table, for the five of us, had procesco and beers, and had a throughly good time

Haven't visited Elachis for a few years, no specific reason just used other local Indian restaurants. Chose Elachis tonight as the others very booked up and here had a table for 4 free. Must say it was very good, the choice on the menu was excellent and the food came up lovely. The service was also very good and the staff very helpful and cheerful. The food was also great value with 3 mains courses, some additional sides and 3 rounds of drinks for two people costing less then £65.

Most Saturday nights we either go to this restaurant or get a takeaway as their Indian food is very good indeed & is all freshly cooked to your requirements & all for a very reasonable price.

Have been visiting this restaurant for a number of years and always get a very warm welcome. The menu is updated from time to time and the food is very nicely presented. Never had a bad experience here and will continue to visit on our own and with friends and family.

Family party of 10 adults and children out celebrating a birthday. Nothing was too much trouble,the service was excellent - first class ! We had various meat, chicken and seafood dishes across the table and all of them were plentiful and tasted superb and priced very reasonably. We will definitely be back very soon!

This is by far our favourite Indian restaurant in South Woodham Ferrers & we go there or get a takeaway very frequently. The staff there are very professional & friendly the layout of the restaurant is very good. Their menu is very comprehensive & all their food is freshly cooked to your choice & can be purchased for a very reasonable price, well worth a visit.

We went to Elaychi for our 2nd year anniversary. The service was very good. The staff at Elaychi were very friendly and welcoming. They catered to all our needs. The food was cooked at excellent standard and the staff displayed it well. Parking was convenient and at walking distance. Food was too delicious so took take away for the family. Well done Elaychi. Will spread the word and surely visit soon.

Fancied getting a bite to eat Friday night before we done the weekly shop at our nearest supermarket and came across this lovely Indian restaurant in South Woodham Ferrers. Very good service, varied menu from what we were used to and lovely fresh ingredients. The only fault was that a waiter was standing by our table the whole time we were eating which made me feel uncomfortable. Not that it will stop me from going back. Recommend the Full Monty Nan and Sizzling Juliet.

Really enjoyed the onion bhaji starter but the main was disappointingly bland. The service was good but I like spicey food especially in an Indian restaurant.
