The best of all I ever had in UK.The Porrotta bread was super soft and Beef roast was well cooked with our loved kerala spices.Super happy to share the review before leaving the restaurant.Friendly staff and well maintained ambience. Foodies can't ignore LIVE DOSA.To be frank It's "Ours".......nothing else to say....Luv it "Live Dosa"♥️♥️♥️

Wish I'd taken some photos. My lamb potatoes curry filled dosa was delicious. The service was brilliant and it was the perfect location to have dinner with friends. I didn't try the paratha but everyone said those were amazing too. Will be back to try those.

One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to! From the ambience, service, and especially the food, everything was superb. The manager Mr. Joseph was very nice, he took the time to chat with us and made sure everything was in order even during busy times. It feels like home! Overall it's a very pleasant and welcoming place and definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

We drove half an hour to try this place, and found delicious South Indian food, lovely service and such good value for money. The menu had dishes I was looking for like the vada and the masala dosa (which did not disappoint - wonderful) and other dishes I’d not tried before. My three kids each found something they wanted and the owner was so friendly and helpful. We are so pleased to find an authentic South Indian place and will definitely be back as regularly as we can.

Why So Many BAD REVIEWS? Food nice enough. The Manager we found to be a bit in ya face; Asked for a spoon, which shoulda been given 1 withOut asking meself, really: He pointed to the spoon designated for another Dish! Dfuq bro!? wha gwan with that? [think, as we werent western [English etc]; he took a liberty by being a bit overly familiar and overstepping boundaries - he was a "habitual line stepper!", as the late great CHARLIE MURPHY would say lol] Jokes aside: The younger waiter-who stands by the door in a Bouncer's outfit, was cool, easy going, openminded, hospitable, as well the other bigger less formally dressed waiter - towering over tables with his taller frame, slightly hunched over, wearing jeans, et al, respectively :) - REALLY NICE Guys! [again the Manager, who was atch smiley af in general, which was nice, and chatty/making small talk with English ppl tho, not us - damn shame! Q. for you, big Sir: Didn't u feel the need to try as hard with us tho, is that right? - With your very same community of ppls, no? 🤦🏽‍♂️ So, the Foodings: veg somasa, above average+) -the chicken korma, lots of sauce, decent amount of chicken pieces - a few more would have been good TIP: - if just ya getting the korma chicken for a main course - its not enough imo.. -good thing we got the veg biriyani rice- that was nice still! 4/5! -paneer dosa was good!! :D THE MISSUS loved it - 'best indian food in chelmsford- I found it!' We'd been there coupla times prev - n had take out - so guess good enough DISCLAIMER: its the1stime written review tho :) (the boy kinda said for us to do so lol - the bigger totero guy said we can hire the whole place out for bdays parties etc - k, we get it, they want the biz and the google reviews, fine sure - albeit, was a bit of a reach/ask - but I guess its okay - tbh it wasnt that that bad lol - they're both atch legit nice lads in my exp tbf!:) ...Again, another Question for the Manager: can you genuinely just relax man AND make ALL of your Customer's also really be truly relaxed, too?? x He came over, asked how food was standard q, saw there were piled up plates and used tissues on the table; did he get them cleared up? Did he fk! We literally saw him saunter over to the table in front of us with the older white ladies - and clear up their table himself, no less - this aint a a racial ting BUT what else can I say? Help me out here bro! :D Lastly-ish, needed the food for me to be mild and the chilli chicken was said to be okay we'll make it mild for you but atch wasn't so mild - was eatable too - u know, u dont want food to be so chilli/spicy that u cant enjoy it get me? :) only ordered the chilli chick, AS I asked for Chicken Manchuiarian - chilli-ish chicken balls, didnt make it so I got the chilli chicken seen? :D ps was a bit expensive ? ish :) Love - Feedback is NEVER PERSONAL: It's just feedback bout our own very individual experience - remember that, n IF only you can MAKE THE NECC IMPROVEMENTS - of course, only IF you guys really care about ther business, and the customers' real experience, of which that I AM, who is allowed to share their opinion, then there'll be more comfort and a natural authentic reason for us to tell our friends and colleagues ourselves, and Not just cos u told me to, get me? :D xx I'd like to come back with me mates ? :) visited late dec 2023

Highly recommended! The seafood soup was very flavourful and had a generous amount of seafood. The Pomfret Pollichathu was amazing and very authentic flavour! The restaurant had a great atmosphere and good music selection. Joseph was very welcoming and great hospitality!

Had been to these premises a number of years ago when it was a very good Indian restaurant. In more recent times it has been a number of different restaurants. Having been last evening it is very much back on track. My friends had been before & took me. It was an excellent meal with a great host and very good waitress. I certainly look forward to returning.

Came here with my Canadian family for lunch. Amazing food and service!! Looking forward to our next visit. Would recommend the Chilli Chicken and Mutton curry :)

It's a pity that I have to give 1 star for an otherwise decent meal. I specifically asked for a non-spicy meal - that I could give to my three years old - but got the exact opposite. I enjoyed it, but my kid didn't have the chance to. Wouldn't go again, would not recommend it to people who cannot handle spicy food either.

Joseph was an excellent host, Recommend dishes and actually stopped me from over ordering too. We ordered Devil chicken, lamb briyani and porotta. All three dishes were on point. If you are a mallu then you would really appreciate this porotta. Devil chicken was spicy to the right level and went well with the briyani and porotta. Joseph made a positive impression in our experience at the restaurant and hope he continues his high level of service. Thanks for a great meal.

Really enjoyed our meal here, being south Indian the menu can seem a little different but we were giuded around the menu with great service. Food arrived pretty quickly, it was not overly busy, went for the dosa and really enjoyed it. Great selection sides with the order. Trying some of the left overs of others, all the dishes seemed well put together.

I ate here last night with a group of friends. The food was incredibly well cooked. Very happy with service also. I would definitely recommend Live Dosa and will be returning very soon.

One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to.! Everything from the ambience, the service and especially THE FOOD was just awesome.! The manager Mr. Joseph was brilliant and took time to chat with us and make sure everything was alright even during the busy hours. It almost felt like home! Overall it's a very pleasant and welcoming place and definitely a must visit if you are in the area!

We came to live Dosa for lunch today for the first time since the change of ownership, we had a wonderful meal! The starters specially the Marsala dosa was amazing! Their curry’s, their service, it was all excellent! My favourite item on the menu, Parathas! Fluffy delicious! Will definitely recommend and we will certainly be back!!

Live dosa was about to close but the owner stayed open to serve us a meal. Something you rarely see nowadays. We asked for recomendations for a traditional Keralan meal and were given fantastic food, beautifully cooked, with delicate spices. A* food. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant for the food and the service.

Had food from them at a house warming party. Food wad sooo good. Being from london, I have tried numerous kerala food joints, but theirs was one of the best biriyani, kerala parotta and chicken curry I had. Quantity and quality was soo good. The best part was did not feel heavy or drowsy after having the meal, which itself points to quality ingredients. So happy with the catering delivery service as well.

We ordered catering from the place, and it was amazing. Both veg and non-veg curries were mouth watering and it reminded us of home. The biryani tasted very desi and felt simply at home. Thank you so much for the food, Live Dosa.

Came upon this small South Indian restaurant by accident but was not disappointed in any way with the quality of the food & level of service. This Keralaian restaurant that produces such wonderful flavours not only in their curries but also in the rice etc, it’s truly a well kept secret, please treat yourself if you get a chance.

We dashed in to grab some food before the theatre and were served quickly, by friendly staff and with really tasty food. Would recommend the prawns roast and parrada bread.

Went in at lunch today. Food was very tasty and tasted fresh. The was a few of us and all left feeling well fed and happy with the food. I had the fish Malabar Fish Curry and the fish was cooked to perfection, so soft and full of flavour within the curry. Will definitely be coming back!

Just said meat of from said supplier. Edit.. Owners responded & tried to pretend we didn't visit rather than taking honest feedback on what they need to improve on seriously. Good luck with future business. I was a loyal customer prior to your take over. You're embarrassing yourselves!

A small kerala restaurant with great service, food, and overall experience! Definitely a go-to place for food when you are in Chelmsford ! Huge variety of items to choose from & side dishes are delicious as well!

Friendly staff, but food mediocre - toilets seem to have been excluded from the restaurant renovation, which need some serious work. Being charged nearly £16 for popadoms for 4 people was outrageous, especially given minimal chutney.

The food was good but had very less salt.Moreover it's quite pricey...esp the rates of appam,roti was too much.When you go out to eat ,spend money you don't want bland dishes

Small family run restaurant, what it lacks in speed of service, more than makes up for with its flavours and authenticity. The UZHUNNU VADA on the starters were delicious. We shared a masala Dosa between 2 next which was really lovely. The BEEF ULARTHIYATHU was so flavoursome for my main, and whilst a "dry" dish i.e. no sauce, it didn't need any. My partner's vegetarian paneer dish was delicious also. Lemon rice and the garlic/chilli poraatas (slightly spicy for those not good with it). We arrived 10 minutes before the prior angry review that walked out after "50 minute's wait". We just asked politely if we could order when we knew what we wanted - like adults do - rather than sit in silence getting angry until you storm off - meaning that we'd finished our dosas by the time they were in a huff. Honestly to us this place was well worth the money, and some of the tastiest food I've had in Chelmsford, just go in with people who's company you enjoy and relax. I'll be back, and as mentioned previously - I'll be sure to politely let the busy servers know when I'm ready to order or need a menu.
