My go to Indian takeaway in Chelmsford, I've not a bad word to say, food and delivery always excellent.

Seriously gone down hill since we last used them....onion bagji and rice was dryed up and food lacking flavour it used to..Will not use again

Superlative takeaway but you get billed accordingly, the chicken was noticeably of poor quality this week, not sure if you have changed suppliers but this was below the bar you had set in quality

Usually get a biryani & vindaloo from here pretty good.

Nice food but the portion sizes are getting smaller. The onion bhajis are tiny compared to any other Indian I’ve ever eaten at.

Great Indian restaurant. Happy to provide everything from a single Nan bread, to full meal for the whole family! Guys who work here are always pleasant and friendly!

We have been here a few times at spaced intervals and have always found it friendly, efficient and tasty, for a variety of dishes. This time we were feeding eight adults and four children. We kept things simple by ordering several chicken biryanis, tikka massallas (or should that be tikkas massalla?) and bhunas, with assorted vegetables & sundries. We showed up when they said to come and it was ready. Service was quick and friendly, the place is immaculately clean, and the food was enjoyed by all. Definitely reasons to come back when we want another takeaway.

My first order from this restaurant on Saturday and I'll definitely be using it again. Lots of dishes I've never had before with fresh, fragrant ingredients. Really excellent quality

By far the best Indian in the area of Gt Baddow, Sandon, Danbury, Lt Baddow, Galleywood. Forget the rest, these guys always deliver first class food. The others are tasteless amateurs.

Haven’t had a take away from here for a while and it has really gone downhill. They got the order wrong and gave a vegetarian chicken not vegetable korma! Had to go and collect replacement dish but still charged the same! Also had a prawn Balti which was mainly onions and very few prawns, and only tasted of tinned tomatoes no nice curry spice/flavourings. Chicken Jalfrezzi was the same, lacked flavour. Mushroom rice had a green tinge to it but actually tasted very nice. We won’t be using again. Any local recommendations anyone?

Love this place for girlie nights with picky bits

I tried Indian food for the first time and I loved it here ! I ordered korai chilli lamb and tandoori chicken and I loved them both. Will surely come back to Green Chilli to try more of their specialties. ^^

Best curry house in Chelmsford, delicious food friendly staff

Our local Great Baddow Indian takeaway closed and therefore after many years we were now having to "chance" with another local Indian takeaway. After reading different reviews of takeaways, we eventually and with a leap of faith choose Green Chilli Indian. While placing our first order we found the owner had a very friendly mannerism over the phone and slightly modifying a dish was not a problem for him. We explained this was our first order with Green Chilli and the owner not only promoted his fine fresh ingredients he also personally delivered our food to Vicarage Lane, to introduce himself and talked about his takeaway which he is very proud of. The food is absolutely brilliant…none of that sloppy oil, just well flavoured Indian food which you can tell comes from a kitchen which wants to send out the perfect Indian to our homes. Can’t wait for Friday to come, so we can order another Indian takeaway from Green Chilli.

Great Indian got myself a chicken tika wrap... amazing value and taste brilliant

Good food. Nice amount of spice for it. Only comment was the keema naan meet appeared dyed red apart from that. Yes I would eat again from there.

110% the best indian takeaway you could possibly find. The management and staff have a great nothing is a problem attitude. The variatey and standard of food is off the scale, it's like a kid in a sweet shop. What an Essex Gem........can recommend to others.... Enjoy!

Green Chilli is definitely the most consistent Indian in the area. I have eaten from them all but go here all the time now. My favourite is the spicy Naga E Murgh (I will learn how to pronounce it one day). Quality food and good service is normal at this take away.

Our go to Indian take away… Myself and my boyfriend have tried a lot of the dishes throughout this year and all have been really tasty. Dishes are always hot with thick sauces in all our curry’s. My favourite dish is the peshwari murgh! Recommended to lots of our friends and family who now use this as their Indian take away. Thank you!

Absolutely my favourite takeaway by far! I order regularly and the food is always delicious with generous portions. Excellent and friendly service all round, I cannot recommend enough!

On the advice from my friends I thought I’d treat myself to a Indian during Lockdown. I wish I hadn’t. The food was absolutely disgusting, ordering a chicken bhuna and the curry was watery and bland, the chicken was chewy and it tasted like it had been zapped through a microwave. 0 flavour and a terrible after taste Also ordered a keema naan and that came in a bag that was soggy and had clearly too been microwaved. Didn’t even get close to finishing the meal before throwing it away. Was nothing short of disgusting. Wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.

We had a home delivery and the food was piping hot, excellent quality ingredients and very tasty! Will definately order from Green Chilli Chelmsford again!

Coming from Glasgow I absolutely love my curry’s On a recent trip visiting relatives we ordered a take away and could not have been more disappointed. Apart from giving us one wrong item all 3 mains were bland. One of the mains was meant to be a chicken tikka masala, what we got was a few bits of chicken and what resembled a red sauce from a tin of tomatoes. You could not taste any herbs or spices. Even the peshwari nan was tasteless The most basic item , boiled rice was sticking together, basmati rice cooked properly does not stick together. They are obviously cutting corners and think we are stupid to serve this. I also have a sore stomach the next morning writing this review. I remember ordering from this place before , it was passable , but this was awful. Cannot believe some of the positive reviews, I think a lot of people have know idea how a curry should taste, therefore they accept what they are given We phoned and complained and they offered a free meal next time round but that is not the point. This would never happen to a good Indian restaurant, they would know exactly what to do for each dish. £40 plus for this , pretty awaful

We've heard many recommend this food in the past; the place looked good and the staff were friendly and so we had high hopes - but unfortunately every dish was bland and the bhajis and pakora were soft and unenjoyable. We don't even have that after taste in our mouths you get after a good Indian - there's just no flavour there. The quality of the food was good at least. A shame.

I agree with Wendy. Definitely not as used to be. Ordered last night was cold, chicken tikka bright red and salty not at all clay oven cooked. Asked for chicken palok madras hot, was neither spicy or had any flavour. Onion bhaji was dripping in oil. Will not be ordering again.

Food used to be lovely! Unfortunatly last 2 occasions food has been poor and tasteless. Will not be using them again sadly. Would defiantly avoid!!!

Made a large order for a birthday meal, food was hot, everyone enjoyed it and was very good value, will definitely use again

Sadly after many years of excellent takeaways. Wed 14.8.2019 we purchased our usual. Of tandoori chicken usually cooked on skewers and chicken korma with onion bahji Worst Indian over ever had anywhere’s. The tandoori chicken was simply chicken painted with some kind of pink marinade. No skewer wholes. The korma had raw onion in it and tasted strange. The onion barjhi tasted like it had been cooked in very old multiple used oil that was so dirty the onion was not tasted at all. We through the whole takeaway in the bin. 72 hours later we are all suffering the effects of food poisoning. I don’t know if it’s caused by the green chilli, who must be under new management or have a very poor new chef, but it seems odd the meal was so bad even our dogs who had a couple of bits of chicken are poorly too. We’re never use this takeaway again which is very sad as it once was excellent.

I have had a few favourite takeaways over the years in Chelmsford, but as the staff/owners have changed they have all lost their edge. I tend to find that even some of the Indian Restaurants in town that do an excellent sit down are disappointing with their takeaways. Perhaps its because Green Chilli is not a Restaurant that they have nailed it, but for a couple of years now I have found them to be consistently really good. It's tucked away in Tile Kiln so wider Chelmsford residents might not have come across this, but I would most definitely recommend that you all give it a go.

You know your going to get a good meal when you place your order, and as l'm local l can indulge when the time is right.

Used to get my Indian takeaways delivered by Chadni in Springfield Road, but they closed. Their King Prawn Delight was a dream. Now it’s always Green Chilli, who seem to be the only ones who do K P Delight in town. Great food, and super quick delivery. Twenty mins from call to delivery and I’m in Springfield!

When ordering a Indian take-out the Green Chilli is always our choice. We have tried a few in the area but the Green Chilli always remains our favourite. Its probably the best we have tried time and time again! The food is always very good and the service is polite with swift delivery.

WE have bought takeaway from these guys twice now, and both times the food has been very good indeed. Nice friendly service on the phone when ordering and its ready in their specified time. the curries are well made with good flavours, i don't like too hot and there is plenty of flavour. the rice and naan are also lovely. we will be back.

This is the best takeaway in Chelmsford food is excellent and the service is friendly. Good parking for pick up or good delivery service.

Live locally and only used it because grandchildren were visiting and wanted a curry. The food was tasteless considering it was an Indian curry house. The Chinese next door had a better curry. The prices were also a lot more expensive. Comparing like for like the prices for Chinese were at least 30 per cent cheaper and more tastier. Will not be going back to green chilli in the future

Above average food which, as well as the usual staples offers some interesting chef's specials. As usual the delivery time was much quicker than advised. Great value for money.

Seriously decent Indian, staff are friendly and very helpful. All the "chef's specials" are worth trying, my favourite is the Murghi Mosala, but i ask for it to be a little hotter(which they do, perfectly!). Every dish i have had here here beats most of the others in Chelmsford that i've tried.

Really nice food, always listen to our order well as it is quite specific due to dietary needs. Staff friendly and always polite. This is my local Indian takeaway due to the great service.

Hemos cambiado recientemente Baddow Tandoori después de muchas horribles experiencias de Green Chili. ¡Estoy muy impresionado. Que siempre nos dieron comida para llevar listas extremadamente rápido y el sabor es increíble, incluso mejor que Baddow Tandoori! Recomiendo encarecidamente las Madrás de pollo - sinceramente las mejores Madrás que he probado en mi vida! Así que estaba lleno de sabor y la calefacción perfecta. Todo lo demás es deliciosa también. Mi única crítica es que encontrar la bhaji de cebolla a ser mal cocida para mi gusto - me gusta ser crujiente y son también muy grasosa.
