Fat shish in Chelmsford

I was so disappointed with this restaurant. When I ordered I was told it would arrive in 30 minutes. I waited 1hr 10mins for the delivery and when it arrived it was stone cold. I called the restaurant who advised to give it back to the driver and they would send another ASAP. She apologised and said she would send some extra bits to compensate. When the second order arrived the only compensation I received was a dip!!! I ordered a lamb Shish and a portion of hummus (only 2 pieces of bread) came for the whole order. It was also warm (not hot) the lady on the phone couldn’t have been less interested. This just isn’t normal service from this restaurant but it has put me off from ordering again

Food is excellent, the bread is amazing. Really recommend this place always get more food than I can possibly eat!

Just ordered and received a takeaway from this place, to be honest the best thing about the takeaway was the can of coke , the rest was cold, overcooked and frankly disgusting. Will. NEVER order from this outlet again!!!!! 🤢 I’d rather go hungry. Now feel sick, ripped off and angry!!!!!!!!!! AVOID !!

We decided to visit on Saturday afternoon. When we walked in two lads were sat at a table, waiting for customers. We walked in and they were up and being really helpful and friendly. We sat and looked through the menu, which was varied and looked really interesting. I have a dairy and wheat intolerance and asked what I could eat from the menu. Now, anyone with intolerances will recognise that you can get a few different reactions at this stage, ranging from really helpful to downright rude. At this point one of the young men went off to ask the chef what he would recommend. The chef appeared and he said he would cook something that wasn't on the menu for me. I was really blown away by how kind they all were. I had humus to start and it was served with vegetables rather than bread. My husband's lamb liver looked amazing and there was so much of it. A beautiful salad arrived and then our main courses. My husband had a lamb Shish, it looked beautiful and was again very plentiful. I was bought a terracota pot of fantastically cooked lamb and vegetables. There was so much of it I bought the rest home and had it later. Neither of us could eat dessert as we were so full. We both had a lovely meal and the staff were amazing. I would thoroughly recommend it and will be going back. There was a lunch time menu which was two courses for £9.95 I would imagine that would be a really reasonable lunch based on what we saw. Thanks everyone at the Fat Shish!!

Always good quality food with ample portions. I like the hummus to start with chicken shish as my main.

Never had a bad experience! I have been here multiple times and i have never had a bad experience. Always great food and great service. If you want a Turkish meal, I would heavily recommend Fat Shish!

My partner and I ordered the set meal for 4 ( we like food) figuring the meal for 2 could be too small for our big appetites .. wow for under £20 a head there was so much food it was way too much for us .. a meal for 4 would actually feed 4 comfortably.. it was well spiced well balanced and absolutely lovely Plenty of sauces, breads rice and salad along with a huge container of different meats .. Made such a great change to have something different.. we will definitely be regular customers Fabulous service and delivered for free

Very poor for a Mediterranean restaurant. The chicken shish had absolutely no flavour to it. Can’t understand how the chicken tasted like it had been roasted with no marinade. Everything was bland in general. Cold chilli was basically a pot of lemon juice. Not very authentic at all. Won’t order again.

I ordered the lamb shank which was not tender and was terribly bland. The rice that came with it was bland and was the worst Mediterranean rice I've ever had. Even the chips were undercooked and salad was bland. I had to throw these away as I did not enjoy them. The grilled salmon was the saving grace and the flat bread was enjoyable. The service - home delivery was absolutely fine.

Came across very well on trip advisor, had the delightful pleasure of ordering our Saturday night take away and we’re not disappointed. Fat shish has a very simple straightforward website to place orders and we collected less than 30 mins of placing our order. Very good portion sizes, very tasty food. It was good to see staff were very approachable even with their masks on, they really step up to make you feel welcome.

Good value for money food and very tasty, beer was not cold enough which they knew as the next ones they bought out they said these are a bit colder, glass of prosecco expensive and was not cold at all. Food excellent but drinks let them down, they still got a very good from me and if they had got the drinks right it would have been excellent.

We ate at The Fat Shish for the first time recently, enjoying an excellent lunch. The waiter was really nice and made us very welcome. The food was excellent as was the service. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The lunchtime deal is great value. We will return!

Have been here a few times before lockdown and absolutely loved it but they really have impressed me during lockdown. When other chain restaurants were closing their doors, a lot of independent places carried on. Fat Shish went from only being able to pick up takeaways (via a phone call) to then being able to deliver (still with a phone call!) to then create a website where up could order online instead of phoning.. all within a month of lockdown. Very very impressed. The food is always perfect and even with the takeaway they would send out little extras.. they give you a time it will be delivered by on the website and it always arrives earlier. Have been in since they were able to reopen and it was packed. Again giving out little extras and really making sure we were well looked after even though it was incredibly busy. I honestly cannot say what my favourite dish is as I’ve had a lot of them but the Sarma lamb beyti is amazing! As are the Turkish lamb and chicken casseroles. If you want great authentic Turkish food and great service at the same time then get yourself a table booked ASAP!

I visited the Fat Shish for lunch with my family. I've never eaten Turkish cuisine before and I was certainly not disappointed. The food was excellent and the waiters were friendly and attentive, providing a great service. We will definitely come again!

We visited here on an EOTHO night, it was really busy , the guys were rushed off their feet. It is nice you can see the kitchen and food in the display cabinets. Menu is reasonably priced. They bring you a complimentary starter of the.cold mushroom dish as well as what you order. Salads come out with the starters, these were ok. We had chicken shish.which was generous portions and very nice. The mixed shish was nice but lamb tough on one of them so couldnt eat it. Lamb chops were nice but again a little tough. It was so busy that you couldn't hear everyone on the table properly, probably a bit too busy considering the current circumstances. Having said that if this EOTHO helps small businesses survive then that is good. All in all a nice meal for a reasonable price but not our no 1 choice turkish , sorry.

Have eaten at this restaurant on a number of occasions and have never left disappointed. The service is excellent and the food is consistently great.
