Munchies Cafe in Chelmsford

Food is always good here, reasonable quality , place is clean and staff friendly, does what it says on the side of the tin- it’s a cafe. BUT - spoilt by noisy uncontrolled children, why do the parents think it’s ok for them to express themselves in scream, shout, drop food on the floor- I would hate to see the state of their homes. Teach the kids to use knife and forks, not fingers. No wonder kids have no respect. Albeit not Munchies fault, but they have to contend with clearing up the mess. So well done here!

Munchies do a fantastic takeaway Jacket potato - definitely worth calling ahead with your order. They do get busy!

This is a very friendly cafe with great staff, they have a good & varied menu & can provide you with a very tasty Full English for a very reasonable price.

If you want a nice breakfast, lunch or just a snack & a cup of coffee, then this is the place to go, they can provide all the above for a very reasonable price.

If you like a good full English breakfast or an egg & bacon sarnie then this is the place for you & all these goodies can be purchased for a very reasonable price.

What can I say? The full English is just the best and breakfast here can see me right through the day. My daughter loves the Veggie option. The two owners put so much pride into delivering good value honest grub. Portion sizes are very generous, the prices are very fair. I tend to use the takeaway service and everything is still hot (and the eggs are still runny!) when I get back home. I just wish my waistline would allow me to visit more often!

Poached eggs on toast and fried tomatoes. The tomatoes had a slight taste from frying in oil that needed changing. Coffee was OK. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. The ambience of the cafe is a little bleak and utilitarian. Very competitive price so they won't have much margin available for decor!

Service is absolutely amazing, the staff are so polite! Great quality food and great value for money as the portions sizes are big. The cafe is always clean. I LOVE MUNCHIES!! I recommend the Oreo milkshake, this is the best place in the whole area!!

Fantastic breakfast. If your hungry/ hungover or just want some decent food then munchies has to be your stop. Don’t bother with Sainsbury’s cafe or the fast food places. The staff are friendly and will cater to any requests that you have. Go there they have the best breakfast you could ever need.

We often have breakfast at Munchies at the weekend. I usually have Set Menu 1 which is egg, bacon, sausage and beans (£4.80) plus bubble and squeak (£1.20) which includes a drink and either bread or toast, all for £6.00. Excellent food and prices with prompt and friendly service.

We like going to this cafe because they have some nice friendly servers & have a very good & varied menu & the cafe itself is nice & airy & all their food is very reasonably priced.

Went with my daughter for breakfast excellent food always too much on my plate always busy very clean and staff nice Only thing I can moan about is all the trades people in their vans that stop for food could park around the back as I’m not ver mobile and most of the time can’t get parked so end up eating else where .

(Braintax) A bunch of us were heading up to London for the day, and agreed to meet up at Munchies, as it's conveniently close to the local railway station. Breakfast was on the agenda. Munchies opens early - 7am weekdays - catering for tradesmen and offers a reasonable selection of breakfasts, from under a fiver to the 'Full English' at £7.40. I ordered 'set breakfast 4', which comprises Egg, Bacon, Hash Brown, Black Pudding, Sausage and Beans for £6.20, but swapped the beans for tinned tomatoes. All breakfasts come with Tea, Coffee of Juice, and two slices of bread & butter or toast. Service was prompt, and the food freshly cooked and all very tasty. My only misgiving was with the sausage, I would happily have paid a bit extra for a Cumberland sausage. I mentioned this to the manageress, she politely shrugged and advised me that most people like the sausages - fair enough. I guess I'm just picky. Munchies is clean, the service is prompt and friendly and the food is freshly cooked, and affordable. What's not to like?

We love going to Munchies Café because it is very convenient, it is nice & airy & well laid out & the staff there are very friendly. They have a good menu which should suit all tastes & they provide very generous portions. All their food is freshly prepared to your requirements & everything is very reasonably priced.

Lovely food, big portions, low prices. Staff where not the friendliest or the most attentive, we wasnt to bothered as we only went for a quite lunch. Would give a better feeling is they where more friendly as approaching them was difficult. Still great food at a great price. Milkshakes amazing, good coffee. Could even get a proper meal not just a fancy full English. Plenty the choose from.

Breakfasts are great but try the jacket potatoes, salads and omelettes too - huge portions and delicious

We haven't been to Munchies in a very long time. We decided to give it another visit a few days ago and definitely wasn't disappointed. Friendly staff good food and fast service. We will be back

We haven't been to munchies in ages but decided to treat ourselves to breakfast. The staff are always friendly in there and make you feel welcome. The service and food are fantastic. They are always happy to add or change things on the order of you ask.

We live around the corner and often call to order take away bacon and mushroom rolls and bacon and sausage for the hubby! Collect on our way out and that's us sorted with lovely breakfast on the go! Always tasty and very well priced!

This cafe deserves their sticker on the door for cleanliness.I will give them top marks for the best English breakfast and a lot of it.They have a full all day menu.All is made on the premises.

Been here numerous times. Food nicely cooked love the breakfast . Portions are good I go for brown bread granary with bacon egg sausage and. Beans it is lovely. Lunch time I go for the toasted sandwiches. Good choice. The decor is basic but clean. The staff are very nice and obliging

Went for an early breakfast I'm not usually up at seven but had a full English to celebrate the referendum good service good size portions good choice the only complaint the sausages are not great they are more like saveloys . Good local bangers is what's needed !!

We live round the corner and eat here very regularly, the food is great, always cooked fresh and you get a huge portion! very very reasonable prices.. great service..They also do takeaway which is really handy I usually pop in most mornings on the way past and grab a roll to eat later for lunch, cant recommended this place enough..

Only use munchies for lunchtime takeaway but they are really good and the bree, bacon and cranberry is the best

Visited on a Sunday morning for a traditional "fry up".The cafe was rather busy but we found a table and within a few minutes ordered our meals, one vegetarian breakfast with tea and toast and one No. 4 with a slice and fruit juice.Both meals were very good, well cooked and generous portions.This was not my first visit and I will return again.

Don't ponce it all up, don't try to be what you are not! I have eaten here for breakfast, brunch and lunch and it is consistently good - it does what it says on the tin! try it - you will not be disappointed

We revisited munchies the other day, as we had thoroughly enjoyed our previous visit at the back end of last year. The staff there are very friendly, the café itself is very nice & airy. They have a good menu which caters for most peoples tastes & can provide both hot & cold food plus nice coffee, tea & many other tasty treats to tempt you, all at a very reasonable price. Great place to spend some time.

Had a gap in my day and Munchies was recommended to me... Just sat down and had the Set 4 breakfast.. Yummy... :-) The foud was expertly coojed and the whole place was lovely and clean.... I will recommend and be back..

Awful service slow unorganised coffee was cold and tasted like the milk had been reheated over and over again. No music all you could hear was people in the kitchen shouting out to staff!! dissapointed as i was visiting my parents at the weekend and used to use this cafe when i lived here 6 months ago ALL the time. will NOT return and my parents now use The Eatery in town!!

We were feeling rather peckish & after shopping saw Munchies cafe so thought we would give it a try. The staff were very friendly and after looking at their menu we decided to try their full english breakfast washed down with a cup of coffee. These arrived shortly after & were found to be very tasty in deed, as was the coffee. They also have other items to tempt you too, such a lovely cakes etc.Good basic food at a very reasonable price.

Had the full English and wasn't disappointed. Cooked well and well presented. They don't just do breakfasts they also have a good menu for lunch.

When I heard of munchies I was told that it was just a normal cafe that sold lovely full english's, but that is not all! They sell a variety of dishes for breakfast lunch and dinner, and I must say they all looked very yummy, although I did stick to a full English.Sausages and bacon were cooked to perfection, no red inside/undercooked parts at all, hash browns are to die for and the baked beans are wonderful.The staff were very friendly and relaxed and looked like they enjoyed working there, which is always nice to see as a customer.

Munchies was taken over a few months ago and since then it has been a great place to go and eat. I usually have my Sunday morning breakfast in there and it is always served with a smile and tastes lovely. Service is always quick and the waitresses are always bubbly and pleasant.

Good home cooked good, friendly service, plain but very clean cafe hidden away in a neighbourhood.We liked their all-day breakfasts, sandwiches, and homemade milkshakes. Less convincing was the chicken tikka salad. Warning: unless you have a large appetite, one order will feed two persons!

Popped in for a breakfast with the family. Good value, hearty breakfast although sausage could do with beling better quality. Fast and efficient service. Kids had home made milkshake with icecream, a bit pricey but great flavour

Had a great breakfast over the weekend at Munchies. Me and the family all went in and were greeted with a smile. Orders taken promptly and food arrived in good time. Great portions and at a decent price. Will be heading back again soon.
