Amazing staff and very welcoming , great entertainment and fantastic beer garden

Great pub, especially to sit outside on a sunny day where there are inflatables and a kids park for the little ones to play in whilst you can enjoy your drink. Food available there is pretty good too.

I have been drinking here since 1987. It was my parents local. Have so many memories here. I have just had my Mums wake, The Railway bent over backwards. The food put on was amazing. The staff fantastic. Love the traditional pub. I hope to be back soon. Thank you all. It all meant so much.

Been going to this pub since I was young, moved away, come back for the wake of my mother. The pub, food & drink and the staff was all top drawer!!! Highly recommended! Thank you.

Nice to see this pub popular again. Decent family in charge, nice selection of beer at good prices. It can be mistaken for a drinking mans pub but has gardens and families visit in warmer months.

Had food at the pop up kitchen, some of the worst food we have ever had. No allergen info for our friend, this is dangerous!! Close down before someone is killed.

The street food section - Firstly came from Derby to visit family and decided to have this as the menu looked good. Ordered some food (family of 4) and it was horrible, food was virtually cold, nothing was actually fresh it was ethier just heated up, covered in mostly batter or not enough chicken on the wings. The burger was quite plain and nothing special. Also, food took nearly an hour to come which is not great. For the price of the food I expected better, after I ordered I looked around and not many people actually had food there's a fair chance people were not hungry or since South Woodham Ferrers there's not really any competition and it's small community people not really saying anything. Would definitely not go here again, absolute rip off. ------- Reason for 3 stars was the pub was clean and bar staff were friendly.

Back in the 80's, this little gem of a pub was my local. As one of 4 young guys growing up in this developing town back then, we would often pop in and see the old regulars and have a drink with them. Much has changed from back then with a more modern feel given to the pub over the years to include a well laid out garden and patio frontage. One thing hasn't changed and that's the friendliness of the pub. The service is good, with a reasonably good choice of drinks on offer.

Lemonade was flat, coke was like water the beer tasted like the pumps never been cleaned. The food was rough but the barmaids would get it.

Decent enough pub. Nothing fancy or pretentious. We turned up on a quiz night (for charity) and the atmosphere was loud, fun and good-natured. Beers were the standard fare.

Noisy and full of footy fans! Why have three TV's on all showing the same footy match but from different channels and with their sound on full? Crazy!

Can't imagine why there are so many good reviews of this place. Yes, it is an 'old-style' local pub, shows sports etc... but no food, nor anywhere to eat anyway, which was probably just as well, judging by the disgusting state of the toilets (worse than late night at festivals!) Had one drink and was very pleased to leave.
