The best restaurants in Braintree East of England

Booked for a large group celebration. Good selection of food. Buffet style but you order what you want from the menu. Lots of choices and all arrived hot, with plenty to choose from. Staff were friendly and attentive. We took our own birthday cake and they were happy to provide knife, plates, forks etc. First time coming, but would definitely return.

Collected the order. This was pathetic, a few shreds of broccoli. Why?????? I am so confused because I paid almost £4 for this!!

Well this is the worst weather spoons I've been it the staff looked like something from Halloween manager so rude we left

Pizza was stone cold and terrible

Great to see this place back open again, Food still good although lots of noticeable increases in prices/menu. No greek salad on the menu :( The restaurant area was freezing cold, after 1 1/2 hours hands went numb and feet cold, there was a horrible cold draft. The front door wasn't closing properly and the interior lobby door was left open, so not being warm and comfortable rather ruined our evening. The table we sat at was "wonky", despite have a piece of cardboard under the leg, it still rocked every time you cut into your food

We decided to try this tea room for the first time after being given an afternoon tea for 2 gift card as a birthday treat. I have to say we were more than happy with the whole experience. It was welcoming, the staff were brilliant and the surroundings were very clean. We had 2 lovely sandwiches with a salad garnish. The salad leaves were so fresh, brilliant. Followed by 2 very good fruit scones, jam and clotted cream and more little cakes on the top tier of the cake stand . Tea and coffee was also included. Thank you.

Popped in for some lunch. Really really busy and cramped - tables are far too close together so people are falling into you to get past. Food ok - staff a bit disorganised and didnt get the orders quite right. Steak bake I had a bit average -- wasnt all that. Needs improvements.

Having eaten here many times, today was disappointing. Whilst the fish pie was fine it was let down by the 'seasonal fresh vegetables'. The carrots and cauliflower were so hard I couldn't cut them and in my opinion the green beans were from the freezer. I was brought another dish of vegetables, but these were just the same. An apology was offered, but I'm sorry to say my friend and I have decided to eat elsewhere next time we meet.

Amazing friendly staff/team, always remember us and always have a smile on their faces! Thank you we come very week and enjoy everytime

Tried for the first time , chips were cooked perfectly, fish was amazing! Good portion size, Would definitely use again.

Awful pizza dried up no taste went straight in the bin rang up and manager hung the phone up three times eventually got a refund will go back to ordering from the one down the town

Absolutely appalling service and products, food looks like two weeks old and tastes disgusting, just waisted £40.00, would not advise my family or friends to waist time and money over here. I included pics in a first pic is what it’s so called grilled cheese sandwich 😂

Thought it may be different after giving it a swerve for a while but last week my partner stopped in for some fish and chips. The chips are clearly not cooked fresh each day they are like bits of wood, so rock hard I’ve never experienced anything like it. Maybe just avoid the chips if you use this place!

I agree with the user who posted a scathing review of the landlady’s ‘couldn’t care less’ attitude in relation to the car parking issue. The same thing happened to me when we had my daughters WAKE held here. Numerous members of the family/friends got parking penalties. Pretty disgraceful way of making money. Bar staff told me there were 16 warning signs in the car park. Landlady didn’t have the decency to return my call. Heartless. Bar staff on the day were definitely trained by the landlady, no customer service given.

On such a hot Saturday afternoon whilst walking around the green after lunch at The Fox we needed an ice cream! The coffee ice cream is highly recommend.
