Palm Trees in Braintree

We booked a table for 4 for 7.30pm, we arrived a few minutes early and we were shown to a table at 7.25pm, at nearly 8pm we were still waiting to order drinks😩 when we finally got them the scene was already set, this wasn’t going to be a great night!! We ordered our food and seemed to wait an age for the starters to arrive, which were good… Duck & pancakes arrived at which stage we ordered another round of drinks as we were all empty, we only had 6 pancakes between 4 of us which wasn’t great, we finished the duck and the drinks still hadn’t arrived, when we questioned a waitress on the whereabouts of our drinks it transpired they were not even ordered as the waiter had forgotten them😡 Finally got the drinks and main courses which would have been better if they were hotter but hey hoy by this stage we were all starving. When the bill arrived it included a £12 gratuity which we told them to remove as the service had been so poor, at this stage there was no apology they just took the money… We have been here before and although we are fully aware it’s not fine dining venue the service really let them down.

A year ago it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. Every dish seemed to have the same taste. Took a chance and revisited with trepidation. Unsure what has changed but our meal was excellent. Great flavours. Tender beef. Plump king prawns. Spicy when it said so. Good presentation and attentive service. The menu is quite traditional and would benefit from a few exotic dishes. Looking forward to a revisit and hopefully as enjoyable.

Very disappointing. Food used to be so good but it is now SO EXPENSIVE for a takeaway we wont be going back. Good service though.

We’ve been coming for 15 years+ with family, friends and football clubs. Use to be great valve for money, but over the years this has slipped. Place was always full of people and atmosphere. Not any more Came as a party of 10 and was surprised to find only 2 other table occupied. The Restaurant was cold, I ended putting my coat back on! As normal went for the inclusion menu, which at £28.80 plus the ‘tip’ is steep. We were surprised when told us the kitchen was closing as in the past there has been no time limit. We’ve even paid extra to upgrade the deserts. So we left earlier than planned, cold and disgruntled having paid over £50 a head. What’s even worse was nobody really enjoyed the food or the experience, all saying the same. Thanks for the memories, but never again. I realise times are hard for restaurants, but putting up prices and cutting back on quality is not the answer as you drive trade away. I wonder if the owner (or cleaner) has ever used the bathroom facilities and tried to wash and dry their hands? Grim to say the least, love the cobwebs by the side of the hand drier.

Terrible food first time trying this place and will definitely NOT be returning food tasted full of oil fried and burnt no flavours at all if there was a 0 stars would do that and this cost over 70 pound for me and husband Terrible prices for the Terrible food.

All you can eat! Amazing food, a great selection of starters and mains, with really good service and all at amazing prices! Can't wait to go back!

Used to be good but gone down hill rude staff bad service over priced been going for several years but will not be returning

Wow the first time we got a meal from hear. What a delight. The food was top class. Everything was perfect and so delicious. Amazing flavours. Extremely pleasant staff. Perfect in every way.

The food was great and the service was excellent. A waitress was very kind asking if our meal was okay and always around to help. She gave us a lesson on how to wrap napkins which was lovely of her.

We have driven past lots of times and never been enticed in until tonight. We ordered a take away and the food was really nice. The service was friendly, the restaurant was very clean and welcoming. Great quality food, piping hot and plenty of it. We will define be back again soon.

The food here is really tasty and good value. Service is always prompt and the staff are helpful and friendly. The only downsides are it can be a bit chilly and it lacks an atmosphere, some background music would be nice. Despite the lack of atmosphere we still go because the food is so good, great choice, plenty of it and not greasy.

A very simple but very tasty meal. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Will return. We had had a very busy and hard day. So this was that perfect choice for us.

Tasty food and lovely helpful staff. Been every week for over a month. Food is always good and plenty of it. We are on our way there now for a mid week treat and probably be back this weekend.

Started going here again after a little while of trying some other places and we definitely haven't regretted going back - the food is delicious, excellent quality and good portion sizes.We don't normally get the 'all you can eat' option because the normal menu portion sizes are so good that we are normally full after one portion.

We’ve been going to Palm Trees for nearly twenty years and have always loved the choice and quality of food. It’s beautifully fresh and served to your table, unlike many ‘all you can eat’ Chinese restaurants. We booked a table tonight for the first time since lock down and had a fantastic evening with great food and a buzzing atmosphere (even with a limited number of tables being used due to social distancing). Amy, the new restaurant manager, now has an alcohol licence, so the bar service has resumed.A great evening, delicious food, lovely staff. Thank you!

Disappointing First time out since lockdown arrived to find they no longer serve alcohol ! Do feel this should have been mentioned to us when we booked. Food cooked well but not a huge selection compared to similar restaurants in Braintree area. VAT charged at full 20% even though it is reduced at the moment to 5% and then added to the full total after tax is a 10% service charge ! I feel like I’ve tipped the tax man too

Amazing food, staff are really friendly and nice, we go quite often and have been to plenty of Chineses but one of the best so far.

Went here for a friend's 50th last night. Have been several times over the years and there has never been anything to write home about with regards to staff pleasantries or atmosphere. No music and we were the first ones in (6.30pm). It was like being in a morgue! Only two more tables were occupied for the two hours we were there. Not very warm in there and my friend had to ask for a heater that was next to her to be put on. Service was prompt and the food not bad, (I felt the chicken on the starters was overdone though), but main food was nice. The staff need some training on basic communication/conversation. We would have got friendlier service from robots! Also, hanging around waiting for us to finish each course was a bit irritating! We had all you can eat set price buffet and had a youngster with us who wanted chips. These were an extra £2!! I have never agreed either with their 10% surcharge. I think you should be able to tip what you want. I will never visit here again. Have given it several chances over the years and it just seems to get worse.

Got told if we are not there by 9pm.we would not get served. Kitchen shuts at 10pm.if it wasn't for my friends I wouldn't. Bother going.

Back seating area full of flies as you can imagine put us all off dining,dull lighting,dreary background music same cd on repeat,over priced buffet menu that is dearer at weekends offering "free dessert" how is this FREE? if extra charge is applied as to the same weekday menu?...had to pay full price for our 3 children due to their height,very disappointing all round

Nearly everything is good about this place, if you forget about the place is empty and ignore the cost, you will have a brilliant experience. Great service, great food, I just can’t go too often because there are cheaper Chinese restaurants in town. Sorry.

We ordered a Thai red and green curry for takeaway. When we opened the pots the sauce looked gloopy and totally unappetising. My husband tried some in the hopes it would taste better than it looked but even he (who eats most things) couldn’t bring himself to have more than a mouthful. We threw it in the bin and had a very plain meal of rice. I don’t know if any of their other food is nicer (we had been told they did nice food) but I would certainly avoid the Thai curry!

I have been here 3 or 4 times for lunch. Twice was in the colder months and the place was FREEZING! The tables are marble so the cold also runs up your arms! Its pretty empty at lunch time so it doesn't get warm at all. There is a menu and you can order as much as you like (but you must eat it all!). Its not a massively extensive menu but there's quite a few dishes. the food has always been excellent and delicious. I can recommend the crispy squid (although they did forget to bring it out last time so we queried it and they argued that we had already had it, when we definitely hadn't!). the spare ribs are good, the green thai curry is good, sesame chicken starter was good. I don't think you would have anything bad here! We have always been pleased with the food. Its a set price per person and they add a service charge which makes it about £21 per person, so not too bad.

We had Friday night dinner at Palm Trees and the service was excellent and both the owner and his wife introduced themselves. The food is very good and you can order more if you have the buffet.The menu was varied enough for us as my wife is vegetarian but I am not. The atmosphere was lively as a few family parties were dining there.

Where do i start, other than saying it was the worst experience ive ever had at a chinese restaurant.Upon entering to see that the restaurant wasnt very busy which made me very uneasy. We sat down upon being shown to our table, as normal we were given a drinks menu and we chose our drinks and they were served promptly. However, the wait for more service was 15 mins, considering how quiet it was, i was dissapointed at this waiting time. The starters arrived, very quickly but the waiter may as well have thrown them on our table which made me very uncomfortable, the food was very underwhelming, as id heard good things about this restaurant. We then waited 15 minutes for our mains.My chow mein arrived, i had asked for it to be well done and was shocked at the outcome, it was like theyd "nuked" it and thrown it on a plate, and thrown the raw vegatables on afterwards.In conclusion, i had high expectations but it didnt live up to the hype. I am very shocked at all the good reviews on this restaurant as they clearly didn't eat at the same place that i did.The people writing these reviews have obviously never eaten in a good chinese restaraunt before.Will not be returning

Birthday meal 3 adults and 4 children, restaurant was medium busy with families. Staff were very rude and blunt and made us feel very uncomfortable for no apparent reason. Food good but unlikely to return.

I went with my friend to try the all you can eat buffet, first we ordered a 3 starters then the waitress came back to take the orders for the mains; on the menu it says that waste of food is not tolerated which I totally agree with, so we ordered 3 mains with the idea to order some more if the portions were small and we felt still hungry, but the waitress took the menus away after we ordered the mains, which was a little bit odd considering we were having the all-you-can-eat option. Mains arrived, super small portions, the prawns dish had literally 5 prawns. I asked the waitress if I could have the menu back and bringing it back she had a bit of an attitude and also made the point saying the the kitchen was about to close (it was 9.15, and the mains were literally just served and the restaurant closing time is 11.30?!) The whole experience wasn't great, we felt unwelcomed all the way through, we've been to other all-you-can-eat places before but never made feeling so guilty in ordering dishes.

Turned up at 9.20pm.after paying £25.taxi fare. Only to be told kitchen is closed. The place was half empty.the manager was extremely rude. Also if kitchen is closed how comes he said we could have a takeaway. Will never visit this place again.

Went for a friends birthday cost us a fortune in taxi fares only to be told the kitchen is closed at 9.15pm although they state close at 11pm, they then stated we could have a take away how is this possible when the kitchen is closed, very rude owner basically told us to get on our bike, we will not be returning also food has gone down hill slightly on our last visit

Loved this restaurant, although we were the only guests at the time and a bit cold. However the food was amazing and plentiful, will definitely visit again

Me and my girlfriend always have gone to palms we loved it we were regulars but was treated with no loayatly or anything like that. The male owner who I think is the owner is so rude and very arrogant. Has no people skills at all. We have now found another regualer Chinese buffet which is a lot nicer and get treated properly

What a wonderful experience . Great restaurant with wonderful food. Very spacious inside and plenty of parking outside. We had the buffet and were very pleased with our choices. Not a help yourself buffet but a service buffet. Order as much as you like and it arrives freshly cooked. Wonderful tastes and flavours. Good menu with a good variety of choices. An all round good experience.

Not normally a fan of Chinese food but the food here is great. We normally eat off the buffet menu. Order as much as you like as often as you like and it’s cooked fresh every time. The crispy duck is amazing. Very accommodating if you want alter dishes too. Nice large restaurant with outdoor seating area and children’s play area is great for families. Staff very friendly.

Amazing selection of delicious food so much to choose from and deserts as well , it's quite expensive but you can really get your money's worth . I went up three times. Staff were really nice and smiley .

Finally found a Chinese/ Thai take away I can eat from as I am gluten free. And it was delicious. Thank you so much! Definitely reccomend the chilli and garlic ribs, coconut rice and chicken and sweet corn soup! A stunning meal.

The Palm Trees is a 'pay one price and order as much as you like from the menu' kind of place. As such it is quite pricey (about £18.95 per adult on Friday or Saturday night). However, the food comes out quickly and is delicious! The starter selection is really the main event , our group particularly loved the pandan chicken, the spicey said, the sesame chicken, the marinated skewers and the duck and pancakes! but really it is all good! on the weekend when the price is a couple of pounds more, you do get banana fritter and ice cream as a dessert (if you still have room for it!)

Been here many, many times. But most recent visit ended with mum in hospital... which i must point out nothing to do with anything with’in restaurant.

Visited here again recently and have to say the food is good and as my son is a lover of duck pancakes the buffet is perfect for him!

The food in this restaurant is always great, I like the idea of being able to order unlimited times for a fixed price. A small downside is there is only one chow mein to choose from which is the bean sprout. Service is OK.

Prompt service ,albeit in a very cold environment . Food served so quickly after ordering , it could not possibly have been cooked fresh. Little interaction between staff & customers. Staff at drive-thrus demonstrate more personality. Taps in wash basins only run cold water. No mention whatsoever of 10% service charge on menu, yet added to bill. An objectionable practice. Food quite ordinary. Will not be revisiting.

Having lived nearby for over 18 years we decided to finally try this place, having heard good views. We had always been put off by the outside appearance and had assumed that buffet meant out for you to help yourself. We were pleasantly surprised to discover the buffet menu meant you ordered a few dishes at a time as many times as you liked. Food was hot and tasty and service was quite friendly for an Oriental establishment. Unfortunately, even for a Friday, it wasn’t busy at all

Attended a birthday party here,drove past it many many times,now was the chance to "have a look",15 of us attended,bit of confusion about table arrangements,but finally got sorted, service was a bit slow ,but was a very busy place,so understandable,food nice, overall a good night -drinks not to expensive would visit again

It is a good Chinese buffet and the food is always hot and nice and good quality. The only downside is they try and save money by not putting temhe Heating on so is very cold in there and also in the men's toilets the hot water has been shut off. Lacks atmosphere but food is spot on.

I am hard to please when it comes to Chinese food as I have visited Singapore and HK a lot. The food here was very pleasant and tasty and I would visit again if in the area. I had the buffet which was cooked to order (no dishes under hot lamps so don't be put off by the word buffet) I really rated the sesame seed chicken and the Pork Char siu was very nice. My meal hit the spot I think others would have rated it high but the fact that I will go back says it all.

We have eaten here regularly over the past few years, always a warm welcome and excellent food. Also a fast and efficient takeaway option. Kids are always treated to sweets on the way out.

If you are looking for a freshly cooked all you can eat Chinese this is your place. When I last...

Our large family group choice the all you can eat option. This was a mistake, as there was a wider range of nicer dishes on the a la carte menu, particularly for vegetarians. The all you can eat option is really only good value if everyone in your group wants to eat lots of duck, as other dishes on the menu are not very good quality.

Friends treated us to a meal here and we had a lovely evening. Place is huge which made it comfortable on a Saturday night but may be less atmospheric midweek. Food was well cooked and quick to the table. Waiting staff pleasant enough. Friends kindly paid so can't comment on prices. Big car park.

Visited as a party of 7 on a Saturday night. Service was quick, and food hot, fresh and tasty. It's order whatever you like for a set price, and we left very happy with our visit. We will definitely visit again!

We have eaten here on many occasions with just the two of us and all of the family. You are always sure of a very warm welcome from King, one of the owners, and the food is just excellent. Whether you have the all you can eat or the a la carte menu the food is always first-class and it is served in a very timely manner.We will definitely be going back.David Penn

Visited tonight with my family from Japan who are over for my fathers funeral. Walked in and was greeted like a piece of dirt on the floor. Ordered a drink and waited for other family members to arrive. We ordered a fruit juice for my 3 year old nephew and was shouted at and said we should be more specific. I told the manager he shouldn't be so rude. He became aggressive and even made a move to hint that he was going to come to our side of the bar and act violently. I really really wish he did. The rudest man I have ever met. Being aggressive in front of a 3 year also my sister in law and my mother. How very disrespectful can a human being be. It's the guy who usually works behind the bar. I will never step foot in this place again. Shame, as the food isn't actually that bad. What a horrible human being.

We have eaten here a few times now and its always good. Order as much as you like from the buffet menu and pay a set price. We often order a dish we have never had before as its a great way to try something new. We will be returning in the future.

I took my partner here with my family. Food cooked freshly and it was tasty and plentiful.Very busy Saturday evening and I do believe they were short staffed. Even so it not not affect the enjoyment of the evening.Would highly recommend.

I've been here several times But only this time I remember to Review it. I think is worthwhile to share my experienced to other customer. but different visit it seems as different atmosphere. and different staff explanation . as they had two menus 1 set and the other is individually priced. so my boyfriend and I. We choose the individual priced. it seems quiet expensive doing this way. and after long Waite of our meal and we wanted to have some sweet after wards but no one to be serving us we tried to get some attention to the Waitresses but our charm are not Good enough as we decided to asked the bill and have ice cream at home instead. just as well we did it this or else our bills could have mountain up we pay £45 just the two of us that is without dessert. may be I come back mmm all is ???

Have not been here for some years. This visit was a pleasant experience. The service was acceptable. The food was very good and plenty of choice . One slight critiscism they cleared the plates very quickly upon you emptying them, maybe to give you more room on the table! Not sure. Would I go back again? Yes definitely

Have been here on numerous occasions. Whilst the food as good, as usual. Staff clearing the table made me feel they were trying to rush us to finish and go. Spoilt what should have been a great evening for my birthday.

Been to the Palm Trees lots of times over the past five years, The all you can eat choice is great value and tasty food and not buffet style you are waited on by friendly smiling faces, if the management are reading this its about time you change your chairs for something more comfortable but we will still be coming back well done.....

From the outside of the restaurant it does not look welcoming, however looks can be deceiving as once you are inside the bright colours and interesting artwork welcomes you. The restaurant area is just past the bar and is a large area split into two rooms both easily accessible to wheelchairs. There are two menus available: The all you can eat menu and the "make you own" menu. The all you can eat menu has a good selection of food available however there are not many vegetarian options available. The all you can eat menu comes with a desert if you go at the weekend. The food is cooked fast and tastes good, although sometimes you can tell its microwaved. The prices are fair and I have never experienced bad costumer service. This restaurant has a child play area outside. There is ample parking available with 3 spaces reserved for disabled diners. The restaurant looks clean. No pets allowed.

I am loathed to write this as myself and family have visited this Chinese on numerous occasions and have always found it to be a fantastic experience. Made a booking for Mothers Day at the beginning of March for 7 people and said that I might need to increase this to 10. Phoned two days later to make the increase and was faced with an answer machine so I left a message to say I needed to increase my booking to 10 people leaving very clearly my name and phone number. Rang today to confirm that everything was in order be told that they did not get the message and that it was my fault because I did not speak to a human. Why have an answer phone system if they do not listen to it and pick up the messages. Also told that they could do nothing as they were fully booked now. Had family driving down from Diss in Norfolk to join us so this has caused immense upset. But have now found another venue. I am a very disappointed past customer but unlikely to be making any future visits.

When we first moved to the area we used to laugh about this place when we drove past. Who would ever go there? From the outside it looks very garish with fake Palm Trees (natch) and gaudy signage. So we duly avoided it until a friend said we should give it a go as it was a lot better than it looks. And it was. Very rarely busy (it's a big restaurant) but the food is great and you get a selection of chinese, thai and maybe even indian so with the all you can eat option you can scratch most takeaway itches in one restaurant. Not the cheapest but certainly good value. It somehow manages to take all the elements i don;t like about restaurants but still make it work really well. Which is why we're going there on Mothers Day!!

This Gentleman has let the Palms down.We've been many times, always recommended by my Son.When I last tried to book I was advised that if we were early, not to worry? Turned up at 5.45 on Saturday, most tables available! Was told in no uncertain terms that if we hadn't booked we couldn't have a table.I would appreciate that in the event that I hadn't been told it wouldn't have been a problem previously! But the attitude was totally incorrect! And unacceptable! We had two under twos with us and 6 adults, one of them the Birthday boy.I fail to this guy a gent! As this he was not! Would certainly not recommend or visit again. Two of us had travelled from Surrey!

A large group of us (sports club) went to Palm Trees for our Christmas dinner. The all-you-can-eat style is not a buffet, it's a constant flow of food brought to your table. Service was a bit erratic, but effective, including in providing for a vegetarian. And it's very good value for good quality Chinese food.

Always a warm welcome and they can host groups of all sizes.The "eat as much as you like" menu is quite wide and should cover most tastes.The staff are friendly and attentive.We enjoy our visits very much.

We hadn't been here for 18 months but it is still as excellent as ever. The 'eat as much as you like' menu is sophisticated, served at the table and beautifully prepared. Impossible to leave here not having had a great taste experience and well 'satisfied'!

Came here with 4 friends and didn't have a good experience. Staff and manager are very rude. When ordering food we where told if you don't finish it you will have to pay full price for the dish. Ordered some starters 5 dishes and went to order one more and was told if we eat all of the food then they will bring out the other dish. When the food arrived it was Luke warm or boiling hot due to being warmex up in a microwave. To sum this place up Rude staff, expensive and horrible food. AVOID..

I've driven past Palm Trees lots and have always wanted to see what it was like. We went here for early dinner (about 4pm) and never realised how expensive it was going to be. It was just me and my partner and the bill came to over £50 for the all you can eat to order and one or two soft drinks each. There was no atmosphere, but maybe that was because of the time we were there. The food was nice but I don't think it was worth the price.

Very limited choice of food and dishes. Food that we did have was very nice. However not nice enough for the price we were charged. Plus be prepared for the 10% tip automically added to the bill. Would not recommend.

We eat at Palm Trees fairly regularly and can honestly say we've never had a bad meal. We've eaten from the All you can Eat menu and the A La Carte, both equally as good and value for money.

Only ever been here for the buffet option, once years ago and once again recently. We usually would go to Eastern Aroma in Braintree but a friend wanted to try here. Have to say the selection on the buffet is very very limited in comparison and some of us really struggled to find dishes we wanted. What we did order was fine, some dishes were nicer than others.When we finished the meal we were shocked to see that a service charge had already been added to the bill (we were only a small party) We decided to only pay the actual bill, only to be told rather abruptly that we had not given them enough money and that we must pay more. We struggled to make the waitress understand and so spoke to the man behind the bar (possibly the manager?!) He was rather rude and said that "if we were not happy with the service we had that we did not have to pay the service charge." Needless to say, we did not pay it!Went to Eastern Aroma a few weeks after and had a much bigger selection of nicer food. We will stick to going there in future!

What can I say "amazing" the food,restaurant and service. The four of us said it was one of the best meals we have ever had.

Prebooked a table for myself, hubby and our friends.. we ordered off the all you van eat menu. Staff were friendly. We took our time and literally tried everything. Well worth the money, included duck, squid and prawns. All food was hot and lovely flavour. Will def return! People had children there for birthdays and staff sang happy birthday which was lovely..

We've been here for a couple of large birthday parties now. It's perfect knowing how much it is per head.The staff are always super friendly and helpful.The atmosphere and decor is nice.People complaining the portion sizes are too small - yes they are, but it's not rocket science, they ask how many portions or how many people you want it to serve and they bring out more almost instantly if you ask for it.The food is always hot and fresh.The starters are the real highlight for us - especially the duck pancakes. I'm usually happy to eat loads of starters and have just a light course for the mains.Drink prices are very reasonable - the Coke tastes a little flat which could be improved. Overall a very nice restaurant, meals always enjoyed. Will go back again and again.

Just not enough of it!I understand it's eat as much as you like, and you can just order another if you want, which is what I did. Ok, I can eat with best and when hungry I can eat a lot. 2 starters, 4 mains makes me sound like a pig, but honestly, the portion sizes are tiny! So this under normal circumstances would not be a problem, but when I ordered my fourth the look on the managers face! Well anybody would think I was robbing him. And when I got the bill it wasn't me doing the robbing! All this aside the food was delicious, service good and with a play area out the back, the kids loved it.

such a shame been here a few times and always felt the eat all buffet is generally average but my kids normally like it. the soup was awful everything was dry and over cooked and I think poor value for money wont be back even though this is out nearest restaurant.

As part of a works outing we arranged for a table for 21. They arranged that we were brought out a selection at each meal and anything extra we simply asked for. How wonderful it all was. The food was simply excellent and despite the number of us all of the food was hot. All of the food was well presented and yet other customers around seemed also to recieve an excellent and quick service. The management should be proud of their service. BOH and FOH should be very pleased with what was an excellent meal. Filled to the brim with good food and good memories! Deffibitely one to try again

Location was a bit hard to find at first but once found it was like an oasis in the middle of no where.Great service, great food, friendly staff what more can you ask for?

I ate with my partner, we had a selection of dishes to share. All selected items good except stir fried veg main meal at £6.00 very overpriced for mostly cabbage on a plate. Service exceptional.

We were visiting the area and a friend recommended The Palm Trees. They have plenty of free parking on the premises. There is a little bar as you enter the restaurant and then a very good size restaurant which although big does not feel cold and has a lovely atmosphere. We went for dinner and on the evening we were there they had a special "eat as much as you like" for a set price which is what we opted for. The menu is quite extensive and includes Chinese and Thai food. The portions are not too large which is great and means that you can try lots of different dishes. Everything we had was excellent and not one dish disappointed. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. We were served by a wonderful young Chinese woman who was wearing a lovely chinese outfit which also added to the atmosphere. We can highly recommend this restaurant and certainly will return when we are in the area again.

The service was very quick and the food was much better than I expected it to be. Every dish was executed brilliantly and the taste was amazing. I recommend the spicy squid starter- we (5 people) ordered it 4 times!

We've been dining at Palm Trees regularly over many years, which in itself is evidence of how much we enjoy it, but I've never previously written a review for Tripadvisor.Well it's time to rectify that omission. There is always a warm welcome from owner King, to newcomers and frequent diners alike. Even though Palm Trees is spacious and can accommodate a large number of covers, the quality of the food never wavers. Our friend's observation that he simply cannot recall a single disappointing dish in all the years he's been going there, echoed my own sentiments, and prompted me to make other people aware of this by putting pen to paper, so to speak.The food is excellent, the wine and beers are a delight, the service is second to none, and the value is such that you'll keep returning. If you haven't previously visited Palm Trees, then you are missing a treat.Neil and Chris.

Been driving past here for around 15 years (never really appealed due to the neon clutter outside) and finally went in. Had a very nice meal, pleasantly served. All the usual favourites and so nice to eat something freshly cooked rather than takeaway. Will definitely go again, and sooner this time.

1st time visitor as it was recommended to us by a friend. Good choice. Large restaurant which was very busy. The set menu had a good selection of food to choose from. A large, spacious restaurant, nicely decorated and staff very welcoming. Extensive menus but the Set Menu Buffet Deal is very good value. Everything is cooked to order and you can just keep ordering!Staff friendly and nothing too much trouble for them. A 'must try' if you live near.

Very good food in spacious, clean and comfortable surroundings. Good value Banquet fayre, plenty to eat and very good quality.

This is my favourite Chinese restaurant, the food here is excellent. The menu is varied and the food very yummy. It is cooked especially for you and is served piping hot. I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant. The staff are welcoming and very friendly, putting you immediately at ease.
