Mandarin House Chinese Take Away in Braintree

New to the area so we are trying all the options. Venue was empty when we went in so took time to view the menu. Offering is vast which often is a concern for me personally. We ordered beef curry, honey chilli chicken, Chicken sweet corn soup and ribs. Over all all dishes were very bland and there was no chilli in the honey chilli chicken. Ribs had plenty of sauce but very little meats on the bones which was a shame.

Normally our go to for our takeaway as good food. However last night it was very bad through overcooking with all dishes being altogether dry - even the chicken in the rice was dry. Most of it had to be thrown away.

ordered takeaway for the first time from this place arrived nice and hot friendly driver, food was well cooked fresh ingredients portion size was good enjoyed it and was the best for a long while will order again.

Would not recommend after Boxing day fiasco. Meals were salty and one meal was returned because it was so bad. Chef didn't want to know and was rude about the complaint

Avoid at all costs! I foolishly took a chance and ordered from here. It was the WORST Chinese I’ve ever had. It tasted stale and sour as though it had been reheated from absolutely weeks ago. It had a putrid whiff to it ever so slightly of cheese, deeply depressing. The prawns were abysmal and boy did I pay the price as shortly after got a very angry tummy and soiled myself in public. Absolutely mortifying. DO NOT GO HERE!

I always order sweet and sour chicken balls. They are actually chicken strips! They are amazing!!!. perfect crispy batter. I get them to take away and they are always hot when I get home. Enough for 2. Good size portion of the sauce. don't need to order an extra one.

We spent £50 on our families order, the food arrived and was all completely tasteles!! Duck had no flavour, ribs were awful, sweet and sour sauce was a strange colour and watery (pictures attached). I rang the following day as soon as they opened to resolve the issue (I did not eat the food) and the person on the phone (male) was EXTREMELY rude and just laughing down the phone at me telling me it's funny and did not offer to resolve in any way!! Ordered from here on Saturday and it was the most vile Chinese I've ever had!!!! Called up to complain but the response was that they hadn't had any complaints that evening , which I found very hard to believe. I was offered a discount on my next order, which I declined as it was so disgusting I would never order from here again!! I asked for the manager to contact me but surprisingly they didn't When I went to see them the following day I was called a lier!!!! This was our first time of trying this takeaway I tried it has it has reports. I ordered was told 45-60 mins. A orderarrived in 40 mins but totally wrong order. Rang and complained. Then had to ring twice more before the right order arrived nearly two hours from the original order time. My daughter said the veg spring rolls were the best she had. My husband and myself liked the chicken in batter. The rest of the order was ok

Ordered at 7.30 was advised they were busy and delivery would be 50 minutes to an hour. At 8.45 I called to ask where my delivery was and was advised 10 minutes and they hung up! 25 minutes later it arrived, the food was Luke warm, sweet and sour chicken balls were dry and hard. I wouldn't have a delivery from here again.

Never ordering from this place ever again, spent almost £40. The chicken curry my partner had was slimey and tasted of bleach. The crispy chilli beef looked awful and the chow mein was tasteless! How this place is still running, i do not know? Maybe, they should have a inspection. My partner was ill the next day, as i never had the chicken curry... worse place ever! When we did call back to complain, all we got was "Our chicken curry is made fresh every day, thank you for letting us know".... and hung up! Defiantly, not made fresh everyday!

Ordered a takeaway which cost £32 and the chicken curry was so rancid that my partner and I have been throwing up since!! It was unlike any texture I have ever had from chicken and it was slimy and tasted strange. We have been sick several times I will never go to this place again I am disgusted!

Picked this one to try after reading reviews for various Chinese takeaways in Braintree. Well the crispy duck was a decent sized portion and was crispy, as were the spring rolls but the hoi sin was really salty (even for a takeaway!), and the chicken in yellow bean was bland and the sauce looked more like a light brown gravy. Fried rice was a bit greasy too, so i think we’ll try somewhere else next time I’m sorry to say.

Absolutely terrible. Was given the wrong soup then found hair in the ribs and prawn crackers. Phoned up and told them. The only response I could get was "I don't know". Well I know I won't use them ever again! What a great first order!

Order somewhere else! Sent us the wrong sauce [ordered sweet & sour, they sent something else]. When we polightly rang up they laughed at us down the phone and refused to correct their mistake. Very poor customer service! Noodles were very tasteless dry same with the vegetables. We won't be ordering from Mandarin House again.

Don't waste your money! Spent near on £20 ordering from Mandarin House, they got our order wrong and were rude when we asked them to put it right. Refused to do anything about it about it, food was flavorless. Complete waste of money!

Ordered a takeaway at 6pm got told it would be 45mins. At 7pm I rung them and asked where my dinner was and they said to be it would be 5-10mins. A hour later and 4 calls of them saying 5-10 mins I still have no food. They offered me £2.60 off my dinner for being 1 hour and 15mins late so In the end I told them I didn't want it. DO NOT USE TERRIBLE SERVICE.

hi i went today to that take away restarant to get some rice and when i get into that place the owner (i think) was smoking cigarett ,what the hell its going on in that braintree , council should close down places like that without any excuses! i will stop order any food from them.

Cena para uno de pollo chow mein, huevo frito y arroz dulce y agria maltratada pollo £7.10. Buena parte tamaño de chow mein y arroz, enorme, de hecho. Suficiente para dos. Salsa era un poco más vinegary. Comida principal era pequeña. Las galletas saladas de cortesía para pedir más gambas £12 (creo) eran una pequeña porción en comparación a otros china tome siempre he ordenado en el pasado.
