The best restaurants in East of England

We called in to ask if they were serving food. The landlady said they were new, only taking over in May, and the previous landlord had taken the kitchen with him when he left! So no food at the moment until a new kitchen is fitted. We stayed for a drink. The landlady was very pleasant and obviously frustrated with the situation. I wish her well.

Lovely cafe and very welcome after a long cycle ride. Tea and home made flap jack, delicious. Hope to come back again and enjoy your hospitality.

Disappointing, ordered a ploughman’s that arrived with rock hard sourdough bread, this was changed to a soft slice of bread when we brought it to the attention of the staff, wasn’t asked was everything ok at any point, we were totally ignored by the staff in-fact, Although they were extremely friendly to other tables.

Standards are lacking, one person starts a fight and they're not the one who is asked to leave! Couldn't have felt less welcome if they tried.

We visited Caister for our 20th anniversary and whilst walking to the beach we passed this lovely fish and chip shop! So glad we did as it was absolutely lovely, we took it to the beach to eat, the cod was amazing and the chips were good too, so good that we went back the next day to be welcomed by Nobby, thank you and can’t wait to return again next year! Stopped for a midmorning cuppa and tea cake. Also to pick up a order of various cakes for Yule. The two waitresses were both charming and professional. Kirsty took time to have a friendly chat despite being very busy. A very pleasant experience and will definitely be returning.

Excellent variety of food , delicious cakes and good coffee. Well decorated cafe, clean and efficient service. After having visited a couple of times during a stay with my family who reside in Billericay. - I feel I have to agree with the TripAdvisor comment made way back in March of this year - some members of staff are abrupt - not to us personally but to one or two of the other customers. One subject was confusion over being able to make a booking..... I feel perhaps the ‘team’ need to jell more and work with the same set of rules. Otherwise I loved it!

Very good fish and chips and good customer service. Everything is fried in beef dripping and the cod we had, was cooked perfectly. Portion sizes are generous and all is reasonably priced. Worth a visit if you are ever in the area.

What a lovely atmospheric pub this is and the Indian food was exceptional and good value for the money. Customer service was excellent and we were made to feel welcome. If only we had this pub near us in Derbyshire! If you’re in this area it’s a must to visit.

We had a takeaway delivered tonight for the first time. It was delivered on time by a very pleasant young lady. We ordered mixed poppadoms with all the dips & salad. A mixed kebab starter. 2 main dish’s with mushroom rice. Everything was cooked perfectly. And they still accept cash! Would totally recommend using here.
