Excellent variety of food , delicious cakes and good coffee. Well decorated cafe, clean and efficient service. After having visited a couple of times during a stay with my family who reside in Billericay. - I feel I have to agree with the TripAdvisor comment made way back in March of this year - some members of staff are abrupt - not to us personally but to one or two of the other customers. One subject was confusion over being able to make a booking..... I feel perhaps the ‘team’ need to jell more and work with the same set of rules. Otherwise I loved it!

My daughter and I were shopping in Billericay when she spotted the Fairy cakes café! Straight away we were made to feel very welcome by a friendly member of staff. You can tell they treat customers well as clearly they have repeat custom. After drooling over the cakes we settled for tea, hot chocolate with a slab of Victoria sponge and Salted caramel cake. This came in around at under £12 which I felt was a fairly average cost for the area. We did have a little wait but a few people had come in at once. Drinks and cakes were delivered with a smile, gorgeous china and an adorable pot of milk. None of your metal teapots here thank goodness. My daughter and I are keen bakers and both were highly impressed with the lightness of the sponges and how tasty and fresh they were. I loved the cakes on display, the 'take your own ingredients' bags you can take home to create in your own kitchen (brilliant idea!) and the fact magazines were readily available should you be dining alone. It felt very welcoming and friendly so I'd definitely be happy to come in on my own. On the way out I saw they also do cookery classes, afternoon tea and the like. I have a feeling we will be back....

I took my best friend and her young baby (just turning one) for afternoon tea as an early Christmas present. The staff were friendly and kind from the get go, they made my friend and her child feel very welcome and not in the way at all. The food was superb - we had a 3 tier afternoon tea for two and we were given so many yummy sandwiches our heads popped, the cakes we got to choose ourselves were also a nice touch and a bit different for normal afternoon tea which we loved and even the little baby had a lovely afternoon tea to herself! Sandwiches filled with Nutella, a snack and a lovely mini cupcake and drink. Also very reasonably priced, thankyou for a lovely afternoon!

Was intending to go to the Costa a few doors down with some friends for lunch but this place was suggested instead. At first glance the menu was a bit over-priced for sandwiches by £1+ here and there but when the food arrived the portions were on the small side and coffee cups were only 2/3 full. Am told they use coffee pods that dish out a set amount of coffee so they have no control. For the price I expected maybe a bit more salad or some crisps with the sandwiches. After we finished our sandwiches we were 'upsold' on some cake and weren't told the price, only the options available. When I went to pay the bill I was in shock, considering what we had, so for the first time ever asked to see an itemised bill. It was in order just over priced and those £1+ here and there soon added up. Had the food been better or larger portions I would have given maybe a four star review.

I have been here a few times now and even though I do enjoy the food I find the staff very rude, seemingly bored and their lack of customer service (or rather lack of) is awful. They have very bad attitudes which is a shame as it is lovely in there. The service is very slow too.

I have just enjoyed the most delicious 3 tier afternoon tea, with my friends at enjoy cakes Billericay. A beautiful little tea room run by a local family. Exquisite homemade food, and the most Devine cakes and scones. The tearoom is beautifully decorated, you feel cosy and very relaxed, and are surrounded by the stunning wedding and birthday cakes that Clare and her team of girls create. I can't recomend this little tea room more highly. Claire, Tina and the girls have created a real little gem.

Really lovely local cafe. Everything is made fresh to order and the cakes are divine. Only thing that prevents a 5 star review is that a small lunch can end up quite costly.

Visually very good. The menu is varied and appealing Service was pleasant but they need a couple of more staff probably. The dishes were nice but it's Brentwood so for a sandwich and a couple of drinks...a little more expensive than other areas. Loved the place though and will return.

I visited for lunch yesterday with my daughter & was disappointed with the lack of customer service. Considering they had 3 staff serving the small dining area, two customers had to leave their tables & head to the cash desk to get the attention from one of the 3 waitresses. The staff were far too busy chatting & didn't realise that two customers had been trying to get the attention of the waitress for 10 minutes. The cream tea was very nice & so was the coronation sandwich. However, Being spoilt for choice with food establishments in the high street I will certainly not be returning to Clairy Fairy Cup Cake again.

This is only my second visit to the teashop and the first time I have had coffee and cake downstairs. Downstairs is now the only option as upstairs is now only used for cake classes. Although it is pleasant the large glass panes can make you feel rather exposed to passing foot and vehicle traffic and have robbed it of some of its original intimacy and therefore attraction.Nonetheless the coffee was tasty and in larger cups, so that I was not left wanting more. The cake was a different matter - it was a freshly baked walnut sponge that literally melted in your mouth and definitely left you craving for more.

Booked an afternoon tea for three on a Saturday. The afternoon tea was lovely, one of the best that I have had, plentiful, fresh and with a choice of delicious cupcakes and two drinks of your choice. The only thing that stops me rating this as a 5 is the fact that the place is too small and everybody is squashed together... once in, you can't get out which is not helped by people staying and chatting rather than going when they have finished their food and drinks. Perhaps they could politely decline prams and pushchairs because there just isn't the room.

Came here with a friend on Monday as had planned to come here for cream tea, but were short for time as had to be home for my disabled brother so decided to just pop in for a sandwich and had actually arranged to come back the following Monday for cream tea. Ordered our food pretty quickly but then waited 20 minutes for them to come out. Although I do understand that cooking from fresh takes time, as I work in a Michelin star restaurant, but I also understand that no customer should wait that long, or would want to wait that long, for any food.. Especially a sandwich. Even cooking from fresh you do as much prep as possible to ensure that this kind of waiting around never happens. If your only way of cooking fresh is to take 20 minutes to do so, I think a re evaluation on how you do things needs to happen. Anyway, food comes out, mine was lovely actually but my friends wasn't as ordered. This is also understandable, mistakes happen, but she didn't want to pay for something she wasn't going to enjoy eating. So I told her to go and explain this to the lady (presumably the manageress) and I'm sure it would be taken off our bill, as we no longer had time to wait for another one to be cooked (another 20 minutes?). My friend went and did this whilst I finished off my food at the table. She came back to get her purse and said she was going to pay for her drink so I said I'd also come to pay for my food. Once at the till, the manageress then said 'I just think it is petty of you to not pay over something so small as us missing something out of your order'. To which my friend replied that it wasn't just that and that she had explained already and that we didn't have 20 minutes to wait for whither. At this point I butted in just to say, I myself work in a restaurant and no matter how awkward the situation, or customer, the customer is always right? To which she replied 'well not in all situations are they'. To which I replied 'I can't believe how rude you are being, regardless of what you missed out of her order, it was wrong, so she was within her rights to ask for it to be taken off the bill since she hadn't eaten it'. The lady replied 'life is annoying sometimes isn't it'. To which I then said 'the situation has already been addressed and spoken about, there was no need to bring it up again when I came over, actually it was very unnecessary of you' at which point my friend said come on let's go. I've never written a trip advisor and as someone who has worked for a long time in hospitality I understand how unneeded some comments left are, and mostly left by people whom themselves are extremely rude. I myself am the most polite person, I think manners are of high importance, ESPECIALLY in the workplace. And the amount of rude people I have to deal with on a daily basis, but just smile and apologise to, because that is my job. I was completely taken aback by how rude this lady was. Nothing at all to do with the order that had come out wrong, it is how she persistently tried to tell us that we were 'petty' and in the wrong for asking for the sandwich to be taken off the bill. It's a shame because we had actually planned to come back but I think you need to invest in some customer service/manageress skills because as I have mentioned, there is a lot of things going wrong here. This isn't to turn people away, I hope it doesn't, this is to hopefully educate the woman who works here, who thinks its okay to speak down to a paying customer, and tell them they are petty after making a mistake in the order and a waiting time of 20 minutes for a sandwich. (Looking through your other reviews its easy to see that I'm not the first to have complained about this woman..)

We booked an afternoon tea for a party of thirteen, and were all most impressed with 'Enjoy'. The Café is attractively decorated with light sunny colours and plenty of interesting things to look at while you wait for your refreshments. We had ordered sandwiches, scones and cakes, and they were all simply delicious; the sandwiches were freshly made, the scones were served with cream and jam, and the cupcakes were just fantastic. We had a selection of coffee, chocolate, strawberry, lemon and vanilla. They are so light that unfortunately you could probably eat four and tell yourself that there are no calories in them!Certainly worth a visit - you are unlikely to find a better tea anywhere.

Came here for a girls afternoon tea with my work friends. The company and scones were good but everything else was a a disappointment. The more mature waitress's was sullen and the service was slow. Also we were charged for our second drinks although this was not pointed out to us at the time and we thought it was included with the afternoon tea as it is at most places. When the bill came we had been charged for two people who had not been able to make it which we had notified them when we arrived. They said that we had enough food for nine people but there was barely enough for the seven of us. A £15 service charge was added on which we chose not to pay as the service had not warrented that. The young waitress was very apologetic. Will not be returning or recommending to anyone.

Lunch again at Enjoy Clairey Fairy Boutique Cafe! What can I say - this is a place where you are treated with respect by a very efficient and well run owner and her daughter. I have been using this cafe a great deal during the last eight months, while I have been having chemotherapy. I have got to know and chat to many of the staff, as they have realised how vulnerable I can be some days. They have been attentive and ensured I get water as soon as I climb those stairs! Another customer and I chatted across the tables today about how lovely it is to know you are going to get a hot cup of tea or tasty coffee and a first class lunch. The bread for sandwiches is SO tasty as are the wide range of fillings. I noticed today that the scones have grown considerably, so not two, wee scones, but one yummy, scrummy large scone. I am not a cup cake person, so love the selection of tray bakes and sliced cake - the Lemon Drizzle is to die for! Some very young staff have been trained on the job, and have really stepped up to the plate now. And the more experienced ladies know their job and are very efficient! I am astounded and disappointed to read some of the very cutting and hurtful reviews that some people have put on Trip Advisor and question who could find such things to grouse about at ENJOY! I always take the attitude of - if you can't say something nice, then don't bother! Better to be honest than hit below the belt - get a life and step away from this kind of low offensive comments! I will continue to take my custom to this cafe, safe in the knowledge that I won't get infection or germs, and that I will get tasty food, great choice and well worth the money I am spending. You should try it and dispel all the lousy comments some very sad and sick person seems to be getting pleasure out of posting! They are making cup cakes for me to take to a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday - thank you for offering to do this for FREE, but as it is my contribution, I will happily pay for this service.

This lovely Cafe has recently been altered, the work took place over just a few days. The boutique downstairs has now gone. The ground floor is now a spacious cafe with beutiful displays of weddingcakes and cupcakes around the shop. The style is in keeping with the upstairs part which is still available as extra seating. The new style allows easy access for the elderly of billericay who would doubtless have struggled with the stairs. The food is always delicious. The service can on occasion seem slightly slow but only if the staff are rushed. It is slightly pricier than other cafes in Billericay but I never mind as I'm sitting in one of the nicest places around.

My wife and I are regular user's of the Enjoy and were some what surprised by the review complaining of lack of service. As local residents we eat there perhaps once or twice a week and see it in all its moods, sometimes quite, sometimes busy and then other times very busy, but in all these occasions we have found the staff to be attentive, very quick taking and in serving orders, and are always cheerful and friendly. This is obviously a Family run restaurant which prides itself on good top quality, fresh food served quickly in a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere . The décor and amenities are modern and pleasing with all the food prepared fresh in a spotlessly clean area for all to see, there are no hidden corners in the Enjoy.Fortunately our only bad experience over the years has been recently of two ladies with a small and noisy child, either the two accompanying adults were deaf to the child’s screams and disruptive behaviour or cared less. Looking back I think the staff dealt with the situation remarkably well considering most customers ate their food rather quickly and left without comment. We have had the pleasure of two Family birthday cakes made by the Enjoy and both were inexpensive, light and airy, but more importantly, delicious. There are many places to eat in Billericay with a vast and varied array of menus, but if your looking for a typical English tea room with very high standards we have no hesitation in recommending the Enjoy as the ideal place to eat, relax and enjoy!

My daughter and I,visited enjoy Clairey fairy cupcakes on Tuesday 30 th July and had afternoon tea for two at lunchtime. The two young ladies that served us were great, they were very busy, but despite being rushed off there feet, gave us great service. The food was fresh, well presented and delicious. I am a regular visitor to enjoy and I love it,it has to be my most favourite place to have lunch.thank you ladies. Best wishes Sue

I went for afternoon tea with a friend and the surroundings were very nice, but the wait to be served was far too long. When we finally did get served the staff member was dismissive and disinterested. She continued to chat to her colleague while taking our order and subsequently forgot some of it. The food was served a while before the tea and coffee. I can't fault the presentation and the food was very nice, but the scones were minuscule. I had hoped to come back and treat my daughter but I'm afraid I won't be returning to such shoddy service.

After reading the reviews & living in the area we thought we would check out these yummy cakes. However, they were far from yummy. Cake was dry & my husbands rocky road cupcake tasted so dry & tasteless I was surprised they were offering it as the special. The waitresses all seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves. Prefer to go to Cafe Creme where they show an interest & the cake is gooooooood!

I visited my friend at the weekend and couldn't wait to go to Clairey Fairy Cakes as she had told me so much about it, we went for lunch and although the Cafe' was very busy we were happy to wait the 10 mins it took to get a table, the ladies were very welcoming, I absolutely loved the pretty decor, lovely china and how everything is 'mix and match' but perfectly coordinated, you can even see through to the beautiful kitchen where all the delicious cakes are made. There was a great selection of food and when we ordered we were told as it was so busy and all the food is freshly prepared there would be a bit of a wait, we didn't mind as we were enjoying the atmosphere, when the food arrived it was well worth the wait, absolutely delicious and all so nicely presented, we just had enough room for some yummy cake, I chose a Red Velvet Cupcake and my friend had the Lemon Drizzle which I had a taste of and I can honestly say they were the best cakes I've ever tasted. I wish there was a Cafe' like this where I live, I'm looking forward to visiting Billericay again and I'm going to bring my mum for afternoon tea, someone on the next table had one it looked delicious!

Being new to the area I had chosen to go with my sister to Clairey Fairy Cakes from reading the reviews on here. The decor is lovely and the food, when it arrived was lovely but the service was nothing to be proud of. We were left standing at the top of the stairs for an uncomfortable amount of time by the two members of staff who were intent on emptying the dishwasher and restocking the cabinet. I had to ask 'did we just need to find a table' to which one of the staff answered yes, as there was only one table available (that hadnt been cleared) we sat down and she said she would come and clear it. After waiting approx 15 mins I had to ask her to come and clear the table. The only menu on the table was for afternoon tea which we picked from (we only realised there was another lunch menu on seeing other food being brought out, we weren't offered the lunch menu) We were then told that they had 'run out of bread' - at 2.15 on a Saturday afternoon when it states afternoon tea served until 4:30pm ! - A guy offered to go and buy more bread which obviously meant our food order was delayed. We were asked to choose which cake we would like from the Cabinet, however the young lady didnt know what at least one of the cakes were !! Our tea and coffee were brought to us pretty much straight away but we had drank this well before the food had arrived. When it did arrive I asked for more tea and coffee. The coffee was lovely and my sister said the same about the tea, the sandwiches and cakes were really fresh and lovely and having eyes bigger than our bellies we had cake left over so I asked for them to be put in a bag and went to pay the bill, only for a member of staff to say 'you had extra tea and coffee to add on' I said yes I did but that our food did not arrive until a long time after our tea and coffee, she quickly back tracked and took the refills off the bill. I have had afternoon tea at many locations and have never been asked to pay for a refill! We sat there for a further 10-15 minutes waiting for the cakes to be bagged while three members of staff had a nice chat, I had to ask again for them to be packed up. Maybe I am being unfair, but service is so important and if only one thing had happened I would never have written this but it really was one thing after another and we were quite disappointed.

We have been a couple of times without the children but during the Easter holidays I took the children for afternoon tea. The place was packed not one empty chair I was gutted and the staff could see this. As we were about to leave the manager rang up to the staff in the restaurant and asked them to reserve a table and return asked me to return in 10 mins. I was on my own with my 3 month old, 5,8 and 11 year old the ladies helped me up the stairs, sat us down and served us straight away. My 5 & 8 year old had afternoon tea for children, my 11 yr old had a huge jacket potato and I had quiche. I had to wait 20 mins for the quiche but I was advised of this and it was so worth the wait. Every £5 you spend you get a stamp on a little loyalty card and for every 10 stamps you get a free cup cake so this time we visited we got our free cupcake and took it home for daddy. This place is really worth a visit. We have also booked a cupcake making class for the children in the Whitsun holiday in the kitchens here.

I took my family here for lunch over the easter holidays and we all enjoyed our tasty egg mayonnaise and crispy bacon sandwiches! My children loved their cheese sarnies and cakes too. Really helpful staff who were friendly and attentive. Nice atmosphere and didn't feel rushed despite it being very busy. We'll definately be returning.

"Enjoy..." is the perfect name for this impressive business where everything is the highest standard. The food is fresh, creative and beautifully-presented. My daughter and I visit nearly each week for an after-school treat, a delicious cupcake and drink. The cupcakes are the tastiest I've had, the cake always freshly topped with perfect buttercream frosting. It is also my favourite afternoon tea, lunch and coffee spot. The cakes are the best I've found, always creatively-made, beautiful and completely yummy! Last year Claire made a beautiful giant cupcake for my daughter's birthday (and matching cupcakes). This year Claire hosted her PERFECT 7th birthday party there. The girls loved it, and so did we.The temptations do not end with the food though. The merchandise that has grown since this store first opened is always fun. I always look here first for gifts and am too-often tempted to buy things for me as well as the selection is unique. I cannot rave enough about this mother and daughter owned business, filled with treats of all types. It is the people though who make this High Street shop truly enjoyable. Claire, Tina and their staff are always professional, warm and friendly. They seem to truly ENJOY their business.

I went on a day trip of treats to Billericay, which perhaps needs further explanation, but I ask that you accept the fact. After a spa treatment morning, nice lunch at Strada, and a quick shop and boutique trawl, my companion and I visited Clairey's Fairy Cakes. I set the scene - we were in a good mood, and this little place just kept the momentum going. It's a lovely little boutique, cafe and cupcake factory all rolled into one. My companion loves tea served in pretty china, Cath Kidston and sugary cakes, so she was thrilled. I love chocolate and coffee, so a mug of decaff Nespresso coffee and a chocolate indulgence cupcake ticked the boxes for me. My cupcake was good - probably the best of it's type I have tasted. Too often, the impossibly thick gob of buttercream slathered on the top, obliterates any sense of the actual cake and one ends up with a very sickly feeling and the guilt of having consumed 500 calories in 2 minutes. Not so here. Perhaps it did contain 500 calories but the amount of buttercream was well-judged, the cake delicious, and the presentation (a hint of holographic glitter and giant chocolate buttons) very pleasing. Mmmmm. My friend chose Teapigs tea and the "cupcake of the week" - white chocolate and raspberry. This disappeared so quickly that she was convinced she required a second. Sensing disaster, (1000 calories in 4 minutes) I begged her to buy one to take away instead. You can get a little box with a ribbon around it to give as a gift. We regretted being too full for afternoon tea which sounded delightful. Did I mention the serving staff wear pink blouses and wear their hair in buns (lucky there were no male staff)? You can even get Clairey Fairy tote bags and tea towels. I predict Claire will take over the world, - one cupcake at a time.

While on a recent visit to Billericay from California my hubby and I stopped by a little boutique/gift shop to find some gifts for the family. He wanted a coffee and we were about to leave when we saw a sign for a coffee room upstairs. What we found was so much more. Hidden away is a lovely little bakery that has a back room where children were learning to make cup cakes. The decor is such that you feel you are in a scene from Alice in Wonderland! We ordered the English tea for two; scones, jam and the divine clotted cream. We drank from really dainty china cups that made my husband laugh; it was so much fun. The food and coffeee were excellent and the next time we are in town we will have lunch and the tea! I really hope they stay in business because it was so unusual, very well decorated and just a lovely time.

I never get how a steak place can get cooking steak wrong! Ordered the ultimate sharing platter with the cote de beouf. Medium as it should be. Food was delivered well done. Waiter understood and agreed and took it back only for the manager to come over to tell me that only the middle will be medium.., and then when we cut the middle it was well done!! I have eaten steak in loads of places and can tell you that was incorrect To be fair to the manager, the embarrassment that caused her coming to cut the middle and proved wrong she removed all the food and drink cost We did then order the normal rib eye which was cooked to absolute perfection The waiter was amazing and the atmosphere was 5 star So it all ended well.

Not been here for a while but popped in for lunch while I was in the area. As always food is fantastic, hot lots of it and well worth he price tag. The Full English is massive and really hot and tasty. I love the Jacket potatoes which come with a massive salad. Cannot fault this place. The staff are lovely and very helpful. I had heard that the site was up for sale so fingers crossed no one will buy it! However, even if this cafe did move, fans like myself will just follow it to wherever it goes. Pods are always very very busy so make sue that if you want one you book well in advance.
