The best restaurants in East of England

Delicious Jacket potatoes, amazing cakes, very good tea and excellent service. Lovely atmosphere inside and nice views from the window.

our first visit and definitely not our last, we loved it here and would thoroughly recommend Gibsons our server Simone was lovely and very welcoming, thank you we were here for brunch and the food was quality and very well cooked merry christmas and a happy new year to you all, Sue and David

Not enough staff and food appalling. My sister and I ordered Tuscan soup to start (which I had ordered before and liked) but it was totally inedible as it tasted sour as if it was off and we had to send it back, so just had bread that came with it. My main was spaghetti bolognaise which has very little sauce and had to ask for more. The dessert I had was chocolate cake with mascapone cream. The cake itself was heavy and there was only a teaspoon of mascapone cream served with it so again had to ask for more. So the starter, main and dessert were all disappointing. They also didn't have any mash which was meant to come with my sister's main.

A family lunch with my wife, Mother-In-Law, and friend. We've been a few times before and always came away feeling happy and well fed. Yesterday was no exception. The food was absolutely superb, hot, and excellent value for money. Ronan is a great guy and host. Andrew was very attentive and made sure all was well. We will be back again in the new year, several times no doubt. An absolute gem.

Buena comida. Originalmente teníamos la intención de comer como lo hicimos hace un par de meses, pero pensamos que habíamos dejado demasiado tarde para reservar así que ordenó una comida para llevar. De hecho, había mesas disponibles, así que cualquiera que lea esto, trate de reservar no importa lo tarde que crea que lo ha dejado. La otra cara es que las comidas para llevar también son sobresalientes y no tuve que caminar mucho para llegar al sofá después! Hemos tenido dos cenas y dos comidas para llevar en los últimos meses, Royal Gurkha nunca pierde un ritmo. Been here before as we are fairly local and it was good. But this time terrible and very expensive we had roast pork with apple sauce, stuffing and crackling. Meat was mostly really Fatty and baguette was filled mostly with stuffing best bit was the crackling. At £8 each I expect far better just ripping off the holiday makers. Don’t think we will be going again. It was barely warm so back to the pie man at sheringham for us.

Great always… been eating fish and chips here for 10+ years. Shannon is always a joy polite and very welcoming. Great variety with plenty of Fresh fish

Exceptionally high service and definitely the best turkish I have had. Overall it was better than any london restaurant I'm used to, even better than those in Stoke Newington, green street - the lot. A lucky find after the cursed theme even in Rayleigh. Chilli sauce was so unique and the meats tender, fresh and flavoursome. Then price was so good too, way less then London prices, and of course I got the credit for choosing the place.l thanks to the reviews before me. Very very clean restaurant, hygenic and really pleasant relaxed atmosphere. I really recommend this restaurant.

Second time we have been here for takeaway. Fish and batter nice chips nice. Crisp and not greasy. Salad very large and nice. Not too expensive either. Would recommend

I went today at 8/01/2024,I went as a friend had told me about how helpful the owners are with people who are struggling with the basics like food and it took a lot of courage to ask for help.However when I arrived and I arrived in the specified time I was not even able to explain why I was there when I was just told were closed and the person then completely ignored me,I know I'm not entitled to hand outs this is a service which they do not have to provide however because I came to use the service does not mean I am not entitled to be treated how they would like to be treated and from what my friend told me they were the most caring empathetic people who work there but this was not what I found I understand people can have a bad day but it made me feel embarrassed and ashamed that I had come.

I used to visit this restaurant frequently prior to Covid lockdown. I’ve finally managed to come back again as I always enjoyed the food and the service. I’ve realised this was a big mistake! Poor slow service with only 3 tables that had clients. I was finally the only client but that didn’t make the service faster. I believe it’s under new management? The pizza has been watered down. No glimpse of tomato sauce on magherita pizza. I am really disappointed and I’ll be not coming back here again.

Worst pizza ever, greasy and flavourless. First and last time we will use here, £20 pizza in the bin.

Quiet, airy cafe with delightful staff and a wonderful outlook onto a field. The has brown bites were beyond superb and dare I say worthy of a detour. Peaceful place, lots of room, a great antidote to a dog walk and children’s play area just a short walk away. Plenty of parking too it’s an ideal rendezvous point. Coffee well made.
