The Whitehorse Pub , Waterbeach in South Cambridgeshire

Works do, about 10 of us. Friendly and welcoming. Comfy and clean. Good selection of beers and broad selection of food on the menu. Our table had a mixture of burgers, mixed grills and pizza. All served hot and at the same time. The pizza was really, really good. Wonderful base and lovely toppings - I only intended to eat half as it was huge but ended up clearing my plate. Look forward to returning, we're looking to get out more and sort out somewhere for Christmas to. Would happily return with work colleauges or family. Good value to. Zero hesitation in recommending you give this place a visit.

I don’t know what has happen but I usually had lovely food here. The burger was burned and had no lettuce or salad. The carbonara was overcooked and bland. Place was empty and owners seemed unconcerned by customers. Didn’t have many drink selection and no atmosphere. I’ve had nice meals before but not this time. Seems like an empty place and no care. Will not try again as twice now have had the same experience.

Brilliant Food ...!!! This is one of the best Italian restaurants in Cambridge. Friendly, efficient staff and lovely location.

Four of us walked in Friday luchtime, not too busy. Staff seemed friendly enough, as we ordered our meals one of us queried what the special Tagliatelle Amatricia was, the response Tagliatelle, tomatoes, garlic and spices. It was ordered, I ordered off the specials, Pan Fried cod, came with chips or mash and veg I picked mash and veg. The table next door had their meal arrive and I heard said to a waiter this is spaghetti not tagliatelle, I didn't hear the response. Our meals arrived, the tagliatelle was spaghetti, a spaghetti bolognese with bacon, thank good the person who ordered wasn't a vegetartian, staff should know what's in a dish. The bowl was cold, no garnish or even slice of garlic bread. My pan fried cod turned up, two tiny pieces of tail end very thin cod, think the pan had been used to thaw it out, skin slimy. Oven chips cremated or reheated and a small pile of greasy onion, pea and pepper, that was the veg! Fish and chips, cremated chips again and a portion of breaded fish, obviously cooked from frozen in the oven! Steak and chips, cremated chips and steak just about ok. It's an Italian, desserts must be good we thought, Profiterols, one still semi frozen, cheesecake more like a mousse on top of a biscuit base. Four awful meals. Do not believe the photo's that appear online nothing like what was served up, wish I had thought to take some photo's

We were feeling a little sorry for ourselves in early December during a cold snap. Our central heating had failed and we were wearing all our winter warm clothes huddled around a single portable gas heater, so we decided to warm ourselves up with a Sunday Roast. Being a Coeliac, gluten free food is absolutely critical to me so we always need to find somewhere that can cater for, and understand the needs of someone on a strict gluten free diet. Thankfully the Whitehorse Pub in Waterbeach fitted the bill perfectly and we were both able to have roast turkey with all the trimmings, including gluten free Yorkshire puddings and gravy - cooked to perfection. In fact the food was so good and the understanding of issues such as cross-contamination in the kitchen was taken seriously, I treated myself to the gluten free Christmas pudding afterwards. The service and atmosphere in the pub were absolutely top notch, and I would have no hesitation in both returning for lunch again in the future and also in recommending the pub for food in future. We stayed across the green and visited The White Horse both nights for a drink with dinner. The food was good pub food; the service was prompt and with a smile; the beer tasted good; and the price was what I expected.

We popped in on a very warm day. Just for a drink.ended up having a superb lunch. All homemade. Even the tasty burgers. The atmosphere was splendid we didn't want to leave. The lady at the bar was lovely and informative as we were holidaing in the area. Can't wait to go back again. Thank you for such a lovely welcome 😘

We were staying nearby and decided to have dinner here. I asked our friendly and informative host Emma if the spaghetti alla scoglio (£14.90) had fresh or frozen seafood in it. She assured me that they only used fresh seafood in this dish, so that convinced me to order it. My fiance ordered casarecce con funghi (£13.50) The drinks were very reasonable: Gordons gin and tonic for £5.20, half a pint of San Miguel £2.40 and a 175ml of Pinot Grigio for £3.70. I loved my pasta, it was loaded with mussels and prawns and fresh cherry tomatoes and the mushroom pasta was packed with mushrooms. Both portions were very generous. All of the team were lovely and friendly and we had a lovely dinner. They also serve pizza and the dishes I saw being served looked great. Well worth a visit..

Visited at lunchtime on a Saturday, was very surprised at how quiet it was. The waitresses that looked after us were excellent and really friendly. The food was superb and enjoyed by everyone. The staff got everything right, including just leaving us to enjoy each others company after we had finished as there was six of us. I've visited here many times in the past and it is consistently excellent.

We’re so lucky this is our local. Always a lovely warm, friendly welcome and the food is great. The burgers are gorgeous. My partner had the chicken roulade which was a very generous portion. Very COVID-secure and super clean with lots of precautions! Highly recommend.

My mum and I go here twice a year when we are in the area. I hadn't realised until today that they have a different menu at the weekends and that's its in fact an Italian restaurant. I usually have a sausage sandwich at the weekends. Today it was a lovely pasta (pretty sure it was homemade) in a tomatoey sauce with seafood. Mum had the cheese plate. The people next to us had some pizzas which looked amazing. The service is always great. Today the lady was very chirpy and happy to meet our requirements (condiments, query to the chef re the ingredients etc). Toilets are clean as always and now with added covid measures that the staff are adhering to, it felt perfectly safe (including requesting contact details for track and trace). Ample parking outside. Will always return as we've never had a bad lunch here. Would recommend.

Not much of an 'Italian' restuarant. I would describe it as more of a pizzeria. Don't know of anywhere in Italy that stir-frys their spaghetti with Soya sauce! Also not much choice for vegeterians that cannot eat Dairy. The manager was great and they amended the risotto to a mushroom one without the cheese. Service was great and the staff were good, but we were expecting completely different choice of food.

My husband and I have just eaten here. Staff warm and welcoming and extremely polite food was fabulous for a village pub. I would highly recommend this little gem in Waterbeach.

Prawn tempura to die for in an italian restaurant? You bet! Pizzas and pasta superb, and best of all a 10 minute walk from home. Get a table overlooking Waterbeach village green and eat watching the world go by!

Their Lamb kebab will amaze you and the staff will steal your heart. Great park to relax and take the kids to (with kids playground & bouncy castle)!

From the moment we walked in the staff were polite and helpful and we were very impressed with the service, we haven't been before but will definitely be back. The food was fresh, piping hot and very good value.

Delicious Sunday roast and enjoyable halloumi starter. Very friendly service, quick and efficient. Will certainly be going back and next time will try the pizza.
